I’ve not been tuning in much recently TBH, as a car fan the pointless/soulless EV stuff is of no interest, but this was great. You couldn’t have put it over any better, to anyone who’s not had the opportunity to drive one of these beasts, just how wonderfully exciting they are to drive, and how close they come to the excitement of riding a motorcycle, to those who aren’t that way inclined either. Great vid, thanks.
At last a proper driver's car on the channel again. One that assaults all the senses a not just through sick enducing acceleration. Bravo and keep it up Ped.
The day I got my Caterham was the day I stopped paying attention to more or less every other car. Absolute purity. Absolute pleasure. In a world of over weight suvs they are simply sublime.
Thank god. This is a real car, and one of the best ever. No EV can come close to the soul, character, and pure driving pleasure this machine gives you.
Your constant smile reminds mweof when I had my Caterham, they are just pure driving pleasure and fun. I only has the original sprint with the 1.7 Kent engine, but wow what a car.
Hi Pete, I have to confess i have not been watching the channel lately as most new cars are EV/dull and as Jeremy Clarkson calls them - White goods or Sh**te! This video is something i did enjoy having been a previous Caterham owner. There are now very few new cars i am interested in so ever thought of reviewing some classics, might be good for the channel.
A sports car MUST provoke emotions and that is where the soulless EV fails completely as a car, nothing compares to burning 🔥 petrol. Thanks Ped for sharing !
Steering wheel looks like its off one of those kids car rides outside the supermarket. Bet you needed ro do a few stretches in the new gym after squeezing into that. Great bit of kit, pure driving.

Woohoo a proper ICE car!!! I know manufacturers pay the bills with silly EV cars, but this is awesome, and hopefully Porsche with their engines into EVs will move more Manufacturers back to proper cars!
As previously mentioned I now own the Orange Caterham previously owned by Petrol Ped. I'm sure it's nowhere near as fast as the 620S but holy moly it's fast enough for me...
@@PetrolPed You say the Caterham is about the only car you would take out just for the fun of the drive, but I think there must be a purpose as well, so a 4 hour round trip for seaside fish and chips always seems entirely sensible to me...

Great, great job of covering the unique joys of a Caterham. I had a 1700 Super Sprint for 11 years (135bhp, 5 speed and open diff) and loved it. Sold it when I emigrated to Canada. I've just got a VHPD, 6 speed with LSD and 208bhp and I entirely agree that around 400bhp/ton is the sweet spot. I live in Vancouver and imported mine from the UK to Halifax, Nova Scotia and then drove it 6500km across Canada in 6.5 days. Never missed a beat and got more attention than just about any car would. Until you drive one, you have no idea just how pure driving can be. They make a hot hatch seem so blunt and remote.
I really enjoyed this, seeing the joy of driving come across so well, you clearly get it! I've owned Caterhams for over 17 years and recently changed a 420R with the Sadev sequential. Nothing else like it. I know those roads near Goodwood very well too, absolutely brilliant in a Caterham. Keep it up!!
Now we are talking, after driving my sons MX5 mk1 I get it. Open top driving on a summers day on a country road is something everyone should experience once in your lifetime.
I realise the seven is in another league, but for all the driving joy you are talking about, is why i drive a 2011 nc2 mx5. Its also a car to be driven, its also a car that you just go for a drive in, no other car has ever made me do that. Great video, liked and subscribed. John in the UK
I've been lucky enough to own two seven's. I drove my first K series supersport every day for 2 years. Through rain, snow, sun. Taught me everything about how to drive. ❤
How’s it going with the floor in the dream garage? I’m looking at floors and can’t see how you can clean it without vacuuming. Wouldn’t a smooth floor be better? Unless you can keep it pristine of course but driving a car in and out seems to preclude that.
It’s a bit messy at the moment as we still have building work taking place. Sweep with a soft brush or vacuum first and then mop with a floor cleaner that has a water spray. Comes up lovely 👌
Best decision I ever made ❤ - built my Xpower Caterham 7 in 2004 - often referred to as my first child, only car for some time - the car you put on to go driving 😂
I’m intrigued you fit in it. I’m a similar build and height as you, but can’t fit in the normal caterham, and the SV is cosy. I love the caterham, but I’ve got a 350bhp Atom 4, so similar power to mass, but more room. Like the caterham, nothing comes close to the level of engagement and petrol head enjoyment. Love to see you review an Atom 4 someday.
A glass of wine, headphones and this. It was if I was there with you though at 6"2" and still relatively slim, not sure there would be enough room for two. Do you have a 'special' relationship with your local constabulary?

Hi Ped How refreshing to get back to a real raw drivers car, and forget about EV’s and expensive super cars. That is a positive not a negative comment! Brilliant review Ped - there is NOTHING like taking a Caterham down a B Road - I think less is more for one of these on the road. Fantastic fun without endangering your licence!!

I miss my Westfield so much. Did about 50 sprints and hillclimbs in it. Up to your usual standard Sir Peter. Just one question what’s happened to the Mid Week 180, please don’t stop this as it’s most entertaining. Please ignore the sponsored comments from some, I would like to think your loyal watchers understand the need for this. The advertisements on sponsored content do seem longer, but I suppose that’s the small price we have to pay to watch your content. Please keep up the good work 👍
Hello Ped, Love seeing you in the Caterham ,probably the happiest seen you in a car. I've still got my 620r and for me it's a keeper as long as i can get in and out of it 😂. For me i totally agree with all you say , not much comes close to the buzz you get from driving one of these and you do not have to. going warp speed to appreciate the car. I think too much made of how much horsepower cars making now to the point it's almost pointless. Stay safe. When will you be buying one,Seven Classics have great stock 😂.
If I owned One I would only use in the dark, just for the visual Effect of the flames out of the exhaust, brilliant, it’s great for the environment too as there are no unburnt hydrocarbons.
I think this is why the caterham EV seven will be a really interesting car. It will need to provide hope for people that enjoy this sort of vehicle (well, for future generations to have access to fun cars at least) everyone that enjoys a caterham now has nothing to worry about in their lifetime I reckon. But if you think ioniq 5n style gear shifts, maybe even map power delivery with a sort of power curve for engagement. The biggest immersion challenge seems to be noise, which arguably plays a bigger part than most other factors!
A mate bought a Caterham 20-odd years ago. He took me out in it. Great fun but I had to get out when we came to speed bumps to prevent bottoming out (and I am not a large chap) 😂 I bought myself a Westfield a few years later which I loved but eventually traded in for a BMW E39 540 which couldn't be a more different car.

😳 absolutely ❤it Pete !!! Visceral is the word sir ! I remember the HPC you showed in the early part of the edit. I still dream of owning one but alas they are so rare in 🇨🇦and prices are silly due to that fact….but I’m living a dream through your interactions with the 620S so thank you 🙏🏻 👍🏻
HPC was epic and then they did the JPE 🔥
I'm will surely love to have the 620 S,and my other favourite car is the Donkervoort F22,both of them in my garage 👌👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Epic, you just got to love a Caterham 7, your so lucky to be in the position to do this sort of content really great video loved it keep it coming 👌👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi ped like you say these types of cars make you really make you feel alive
Indeed 👍
Just a great video made great viewing thanks pet such enthusiasm every time
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Great to see a Caterham back on the channel 😉 Out of interest, have you tried an SV?
Yeah!!!!!!! Petro!!!!!!
🔥
I love these too, dream car. Borrowed a 270 for a weekend which was fun. A bit more power would have been good.
Please keep up the good work 👍
Just 2 very busy weeks. Will explain in next weeks MW180 👍
Hello Ped,
Love seeing you in the Caterham ,probably the happiest seen you in a car.
Don’t tempt me 😂
Look good in that garage😂.
Take care.

I always wondered how much would such tiny flap do for me in terms of drivability?
Brilliant content
Thanks 🙏🏻
If I owned One I would only use in the dark, just for the visual
Effect of the flames out of the exhaust, brilliant, it’s great for the environment too as there are no unburnt hydrocarbons.
Yeah but the headlights aren’t great 😂
310hp in 600kg is gonna be so much fun. Its just a fun car this. Its a toy and just pure smiles
Kid in a sweet shop comes to mind
Good video 👍👍
Thanks 👍
I think this is why the caterham EV seven will be a really interesting car. It will need to provide hope for people that enjoy this sort of vehicle (well, for future generations to have access to fun cars at least) everyone that enjoys a caterham now has nothing to worry about in their lifetime I reckon. But if you think ioniq 5n style gear shifts, maybe even map power delivery with a sort of power curve for engagement. The biggest immersion challenge seems to be noise, which arguably plays a bigger part than most other factors!
Excellent video Ped Thank you.👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it 🙏🏻
A mate bought a Caterham 20-odd years ago. He took me out in it. Great fun but I had to get out when we came to speed bumps to prevent bottoming out (and I am not a large chap) 😂 I bought myself a Westfield a few years later which I loved but eventually traded in for a BMW E39 540 which couldn't be a more different car.
LOL 😂
