Tennessee Waltz

- #43 of 50 mandolin tunes in 2020. The beautiful Tennessee Waltz was written by Pee Wee King and Redd Stewart as a vocal song, and apparently was inspired by Bill Monroe's "Kentucky Waltz." It hit number one on the US charts for Patti Page in 1950, and it was huge hit in Japan. The lyrics are heartbreaking and sentimental, but the melody is also so good, I think it holds its own as an instrumental.
