    in the 1950s, we had a 78 rpm recording of the tennessee waltz. my poor dad made the mistake one day of remarking that it was his favorite song. from then on, my little sister and i would queue it up every single day and play it when he walked in the door after work. he must have been so sorry he had opened his mouth. RIP dad.

    Being from the 'South' I was raised around this music during the fifty's and sixty's and the first time I heard "Tennessee Waltz" I finally realized how powerful a song could be, and your presentation was like an epiphany - de ja vue and there I was sixty-something years ago with that same feeling touching my soul, just like it did the first time I heard it by Patsy Cline.
    Thank You Lady's for a most beautiful memory.

    I'm 45 years old. This was one of the songs my grandmother use to sing to me when I was a kid. I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for keeping this in the general spirit of the original song while at the same time interpreting it in your own style. In my own humble opinion, for whatever it's worth, I found this a fitting tribute to Hank's original. Thanks.

    • @maplebones
      @maplebones 3 роки тому +2

      If you mean Hank Williams, I think you're mistaken. The song was written and first released in 1948 by the Golden West Cowboys. In 1950 Patti Page had a monster hit with it and it became her signature song. She double tracked her vocals and the girls harmonizing is hauntingly reminiscent. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tennessee_Waltz

      you are either not from Canada or the US, not a country music fan, or you are very young. Maybe all three.

      Yeah this is a very old song, made back before there was genras in music, this is why I like her, she has great taste in music, she's one of the few on UA-cam who will actually sing these old songs and sing them good.

      TC, in Corpus Christi in the 50s to 60s there were 2 am radio stations , KEYS & KRYS. I heard big band , rock, soul, country,and Broadway songs on the same station. You basically tuned in the clearest one for the side of town you I were on. They were locally owned until the late 60s into the 70s when things changed. Then one station became rock and oldies and the other became soul and jazz/ big band. A couple of country and Spanish stations powered up and then FM fractured music styles even more. Miss those music smorgasbords.

    When I was a little boy, I used to beg my mother to play this for me on our old 16 RPM record player. She would play it and sing along for me. Now I'm in my 60's and hearing you perform it so beautifully carried me back all those years. Thank you.
