In this video I thoroughly test the new GoPro Hero 11 audio quality while also comparing it to the GoPro Hero 10 Black, the Tascam DR-10L and the Shure VP83 Lenshopper microphone attached to my Sony A7siii.

This is actually a really good comparison. Just an idea - would you be interested in making the same video but processing all of the sources (in terms of noise reduction etc.) as best as you could? I think many people would be interested to see what the GoPro can do when you process the sound.

We just picked up a Hero 11 Black 2 weeks ago, and are excited to know that the audio has been seriously upgraded since our original GoPro, the Hero 5 Black! Now wondering if we need the big camera rig / gimbal / dead cat, or can get by with the Hero 11 as our main camera (so much smaller!).. Will have to see how the 11 does in night time videography (fireworks, night cityscapes, etc.). Great vid!

@@GeneralExpert thanks! I won't get rid of my 10-24mm lens for my Fuji just yet.. although it unfortunately needs a heavy gimbal to balance it.. GoPro is definitely a better form fact to carry around! lol Quick Q: I wonder if I should leave the GoPro set to 4K file sizes to reduce space on my laptop when I offload a day's worth of footage? Or is there an advantage to keeping the higher resolution files? Thanks!

Hi, awesome video! Are these comparisons without any audio editing? My GoPro Hero 11 has a constant buzz in all its audio
I haven't bought a GoPro since the Hero 6. We do mountain climbing and the audio SUCKS in the old models unless you use external which really isn't feasible with what we are doing. Based on your video, it seems as though the 11 has great quality in comparison.
Do you know if the audio drops a lot if we use the complete housing unit to protect it in the rain/snow?

If you’re talking about simply filming yourself and your own quick projects, yes, I think the audio is plenty good for that. I’m seriously impressed with it. BTW, I just uploaded a video today about why I had to send my Hero 11 back if your interested. Don’t have a link at the moment so you’ll have to check the channel. ✌️

Both Go Pros were much better than the other two. Tascam was the worst.
I didn’t process any of the sound but I do think the Tascam actually has the best sound just based off the fact that it’s a lav mic and mostly pics up the voice and less of the environment but, the GoPros sounded great!
@@GeneralExpert Tascam sounded quieter, more muffled. Maybe it was the placement in relation the direction of your voice.
I actually thought the tascam sounded the best, followed by the sony Shure mic. GoPro audio has always been hollow and tinny, and these iterations of cameras while improved over last generations still suck. Listening using my studio headphones.
The audio quality on my hero 11 sounds no where near as good as yours wtf? I usually use a lav with mine but when I don't it's horrible. The media mod makes it better. My hero 8 and 9 audio are much better than my 11 idk what the deal is
