    Episode 834 - Weakness Will Get You Nowhere feat. Pendejo Time (5/20/24)
    / chapo-trap-house
    Art/Animation by Emily Halaka @emilyhalaka
    The Pendejo boys are back ostensibly to cover some new Greg Abbott shenanigans out of Texas, but we also look at the ICC seeking arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant, the collapse of Red Lobster, a GOP candidate out of Missouri literally running against being “weak and gay,” and Chiefs’ kicker Harrison Butker’s redpilled address to Benedictine graduates.

    Krav Maga is so funny. Even if its stress tested and the instructors have real training in other, actual martial arts it still focuses on going three steps too far.

      an issue you find with a lot of martial arts is what we used to call the Nagato augment, because their was this big figure in bujinkan ninjitsu, Toshiro Nagato, who was personally legitimately a pretty nasty customer, a big, athletic guy who could definitely actually fight, and ninjitsu guys were always telling you if you had questions about the system to go ask him to his face, where he would presumptively kick your ass.
      The underlying issue was nagato's actual training was nothing like his business biography, he had black belts in other things before every really getting involved in ninjitsu and teaching it for money. He taught judo for years before even getting into ninjitsu, which he did in the 80s, because if we're being honest, it was marketable while judo was a 20/month rec center sport. When he got the idea to look into ninjitsu, he hooked up with this guy who purported to teach it who instantly glommed onto him as an actual fighter he could build a brand around.
      So to an outsider, someone who doesn't need to believe in ninjitsu, it's kinda obviously they found a fighter and dubbed him as a ninja, vs teaching him to fight.
      A lot of krav maga guys are the same way, they personally are for sure tough guys, athletic guys, who have taken a lot of martial arts and competed and done all the right things, but what they need is a way to market and patent what they're doing, and also a teaching system that makes them seem like they have more info locked up than they do.
      There's also the related problem of of martial arts having really two demographics that have different needs and incentives - people already inclined to fight that need technique to polish natural athleticism, and people terrified to fight looking to correct a lack. the wrong mix of those two types in a business, and weird marketing shit starts to happen. that's kind of the issue with say, steven seagal - when he was still making plausible claims about aikido, he was a big, young, strong guy who clearly did actually know some martial arts, like on the level of at least a hobbyist 1st dan in karate or judo, and there was the issue that to call him out for specific martial arts bullshit as a non-fighter, you'd inevitably be a smaller, less atheltic person who statistically would lose to Seagal if the two of you new zero martial arts, so all his training had to do to keep the dorks at bay was not actively make him worse that a streetfighter his size or smaller. this was compounded by the pre-ufc climate of martial arts businesses where supposedly "asian" manners supposedly forbid too much calling out of trash fighters, by fighters.

    I was gonna say Seal Team 6 but then I remembered the US is not a signatory…

    • @Robot_Eva
      @Robot_Eva 8 місяців тому

      No, that would be illegal and likely not in the interest of any military force of a signatory country. It basically means that if anyone with a warrant willingly travels into a signatory state, they can and most likely will be arrested to be tried at the court. Though even if this does go through, such a situation would be unlikely because the offending individuals can just stay in israel and only travel to non signatory countries, which notably includes the United States

    • @Hamun002
      @Hamun002 8 місяців тому +7

      The US has a bill in place that pre-approves an invasion of the Hague. Now, they don't have to do this because not everyone(especially the United States) recognizes the authority of the court. It does have some bite, in that European countries and others have become ground where Netty will get got if he steps foot, but this is mostly a propaganda loss. A lot of countries and people already consider Israel to be beyond the pale. You don't even have to talk to revolutionaries to get that sentiment. But nothing significant(read the extradition of Ben and his war minister) will probably happen unless something very stupid happens.

      @@julymagnus493 trust me, we're out here trying to go to space and thinking we know what we're doing because we can fly already. a behavior can yield positive results in an adversarial system simply because nobody has thought of the way to beat it yet, and there's no way to prove that. And that's just one example of how scuffed this all gets. I'm not saying there are no good players, I'm saying nobody really understands why the players are good, HOW the players are good, or if those "correct" player decisions are only correct relative to an opponent error (forced or unforced), can we always tell what is and is not forced? what is error *specifically*? is a decision really maximally efficient or has simply nobody found a better one?
      do you see what I mean? we don't even understand that concepts fully in chess, a game mathematicians and computer scientists have been studying forever, add an extra row of squares to the chessboard and all of a sudden it's the wild west again mathematically, just think how impossible it is to quantify anything that isn't turn based, or something where player execution matters instead of just decisions, it'll take us generations, or a REALLY fancy computer, to scratch it all.

      imagine playing a symphony on a violin, but with absolutely no instruction, no notation, you just have to intuit it start to finish, that is sort of how I view the game theory of fighting, unsophisticated, blind, not indexed. I agree that Krav is shitty mma.
    But it started off with a jewish athlete, who competed in wrestling, boxing, and karate, built a good solid combatives program, at first by teaching jews how to fight in europe, before going to the idf , eventually the idf turned it into a bullshido propaganda tool, especially post mma.
    It kind of echos the fact that Israelis used to be some of the hardened most desperate people in the world so of course they could throw hands and shoot clips back then, and now they're just delulu bloodthirsty narcissists.

      TLDR man, if you want the promises Krav makes.
      You have to be a sociopath with great instincts, mma training, and basic anatomy knowledge.

      Krav Maga the story is interesting because the guy who made it was a partisan in Eastern Europe and a communist who fought in the streets against black shirts and Krav Maga now is just "here is a last stand, you are about to be executed and the guy doing it isn't smart and has the barrel of the gun to your head AND you are untied" shit. Like it legitimately had a powerful start and it just exists to shove 18 year olds out the door with an idea of how to live if they run up against a 14 year old with a rifle who is very dumb
