This is a great hack to extend the life of a ball joint! But 2 things 1) one injection point needed! 2) You should go the the highest point of the boot to avoid seepage! and Super glue the hole after
many thanks to the original poster and the commentary. Learned a lot here. Modern Mercedes "engineered like no other car in the world" ostensibly saves their buyers money by given you a "no grease" chassis. I think the real idea is to get you to the dealer to replace all this "no grease" stuff for thousands of $. Now, rather than take the S550 to the dealer i'm gonna spend 10 bucks and buy a grease needle. Tip of the hat to RB and you rest of the guys. Thanks!
Usully I use this to find which joint is making noise then replace it more like diagnostic step anyways if u do this often to suspension it will last longer
Good stuff. I greased the ball joints today and the squeaky sound went away. I figured at first it was def the grease dried out. The mechanic who worked on my car before did not applied enough grease. I took my tire off to have better access to the joints. I believe anyone is able to do this.
I saw another video where some silicon caulk was used to patch over the needle hole. I don't know if this would help or even hold up over time, but couldn't hurt. What's your thought on doing similar for the CV joints? I'm thinking of proactively treating my 2013 Elantra GT with very low miles, injecting Motorkote Hyper Lubricant next spring.
@@RBTheMechanic dude you can unscrew the fitting and clean it from inside out. Trust me, pinching holes in the rubber boot is not the way to go, especially when this beautiful car has one of these fittings. cheers

It actually works. Most factory joints don't have grease fittings. I normally drill a hole and install one but I have tried this method and it actually works, it creates enough pressure in the rubber boot to lube the ball in the joint.
On these ball joints are they similar to the newer acuras? I definitely have noise coming from the lower ball joint want to try this method but I see your a mechanic would you say I can?
@@michaelreece458 I clean the rubber then put rubber protectant such as Armorall to rejuvenate it and make it less brittle so it lasts a long time. True I just did Tesla today from very top point
Good one Jase , I knew there was something I liked about you 👊
Your comments answered my only two questions..
Thanks!

Hey thanks for the comment buddy! Yup I just did this to my Tesla model y $10 needle and book problem resolved it was squeaking
I had this done today to my Ford falcon ball joints works very well no strange noise anymore. This video show what they did injection grease fantastic

Yup easy and it will last longer how ever if u get that noise back replace it
Great video. Now soak the whole wheel well with Fluid Film!
I do the same.. I use Permatex silicone to seal hole. Good Job
Nice yeah that should lock up the tiny hole
I'm glad yours work. Mine broke right away
Next, how 2 repair missing boots on the side of road by using split and taped one 4 quick easy fix. (but always check!)
why don't you use the grease fitting zerk on top of the upper ball joint , 3:58
Yeah it jammed up and I like it this way some joking don’t have fittings so it works out good
Hi did you add a sealer or rtv to the rubber to seal the holes?. Did they hold the grease out?
With this tiny pin u don’t need to seal it but if u want put bit silicon
I saw another video where some silicon caulk was used to patch over the needle hole.

I'm thinking of proactively treating my 2013 Elantra GT with very low miles, injecting Motorkote Hyper Lubricant next spring.
Oh yeah I done cv joints like this before and putting sealer on wouldn’t do much but it’s better than nothing
i havent managed to get any silicone sealent to work. just have to have a tiny hole in the boot
Liquid electrical tape you good
Degrease and seal hole with FRESH Shoe Goo.
NOT RTV, silicone or Super Glue!!
Ok thanks
Thank you for this video dude! My Ford edge is the same way🤦🏽♂️
Why would you compromise the boot if there is a zerk fitting on the top? The grease will just pump around the joint into the boot. This was dumb.
It’s jammed the fitting is jammed

Cool video. Hopefully save me 600 bucks on control arms. A lot of stuff replaced for no reason.
Yeah if u grease it regularly it will last longer for the life span

What type of grease should I use on my Mitsubishi ?
Same they packing greaser u can just ask at autozone they will give it to u and u can buy the grease gun there
should you have the weight off the car when doing this?
Yeah on the air
Before you puncture your ball joint, please remove the rust on this car.
Puncturing the rubber will alow water entering the inside of the ball joint
The hole is very tiny and it closes with rubber force but if I like tiny bit of silicon would close up if you want more security
@@RBTheMechanic That's how l do it, clean the rubber and just a dab of silicone.

All these comments about sealing the hole... no need to the boot will seal that tiny hole on its owns
Yup
I like to use red and tacky
can you do this on your cv rubber boot aswell?
I have done it!!!! Got video comming eventually
Where do you get a needle like that?
Autozone pepboys sell it on amazon
Which grease, lithium or silicon?
It’s regular black grease for joints
#2 lithium or calcium sulf
