I've never had to use a buffer tank or take my own water or use a huge chemical tank. Use customers water and a 5 gallon bucket for chem. Or just draw strait from the bleach jug with some sort of degreaser in it to make it stick. I use dawn!!! I've never covered plants either...just soak down with water before and after
I know that in my state carrying over 100 gallon bleach in a tank requires a hazmat transport licence. and a DOT number and yearly inspections. you might want to check in on that and get an 80 or 100 gallon tank.

Good question bro. My guess is if that commercial trailer was worth it it would be priced much higher. I prefer to buy new with warranties. The last thing I want to do is fix someone else’s old unit. But if your mechanically inclined it might not be a bad idea.

You can the same equipment out of a truck bed. At the end of the day it's all a motor and hoses to get bleach on the house. Use a 4 gpm machine with a 5 gallon bucket of bleach. It's the same machine, he just has hose reels and a big tank

If that front tote is SH he might have an issue with DOT. Bleach is a corrosive and if hes hauling 1,001 lbs or more he might get a ticket(s) from DOT. I know he said its a roof batch but its still corrosive so that doesn't matter. The average cop has no clue but a DOT officer see's the tote and the liquid level and will know its over 1,001 lbs. Im saying all this as a warning and not trying to be negative and with 24 years experience hauling hazmat I know what I'm talking about.

Main weight is liquid in tanks and don't need to travel very loaded, just for a water buffer while on the job
Get it weighed at a scrap yard somewhere. Then add on some stuff and see where you are next time you go.
1 gallon weighs roughly 8.5 lbs so I’d say he’s fine with 3 55 gallon tanks
