On the advice of a Conor Neil video, I started to place 'talking head' videos every few days. I'd think of a topic and talk to my webcam. In the past five years I've placed around 1,550 of them. It certainly enables one to think and act naturally without any recourse to notes or other props. Great advice from you, Riaz.
Excellent presentation. Very helpful. I have been preaching for 47 years, and ( still preach at 2 services every Sunday. I "accidentally" preached a sermon without notes a few weeks ago, and I think I connected with the people better. So, I'm going to go for it. Thanks for the help.
I did not realize if you put your head down they do. That is so key to keep your audience engaged. Why, What, and How so brilliant. I love all these ideas!
I am an "off the cuff" girl and I do always kick myself after! Present without notes! Why what how, speak to the problem you audience wants to overcome...just some key takeaways I gotta remeber! thanks Riaz!
"Fear that we will forget our words and fear the audience will toon us out." You have a great point! I know when I first started out I had this anxiety. It is all about learning ways to overcome this fear in order to better connect with our audience.
This is facts! Sounding robotic is definitely something one should seek to avoid when giving a presentation. Very good video! I hopes this helps someone.
Thanks Riaz! I always practice out loud. Sound is huge in helping to imprint ideas into memory. Practicing with movement is also great, eg. while walking. The forward momentum carries into the words.
@@RiazMeghji Thanks so much, Riaz, and thanks for all your fantastic tips! It's inspiring to watch your well-crafted speeches and the way you handle a crowd :D
Great tips Riaz! I'm doing a lot of UA-cam Lives, but bringing notes and I'd really like to get away from them. I think I just need to cut the cord. I often bring the notes but don't use them!
Thanks Kamara. Even if you brought the key points you will cover without the actual notes, that could help getting completely off script. Keep me posted on how this goes. Exciting with you YT Lives!
Great video! I often use notes when giving speaches or talks and it never comes out good. The few times that I have rehearsed I have noticed the audience paying more attention to what I am talking about. I have just never made the connection till today, nor thought about it. Thanks for this video! Will keep this in mind for the future. :)
I find that memorizing the intro and outro is crucial for me. The middle, I arranged in a very similar way you outlined! Outlining the key message and points is extremely helpful in writing your script.
Thankfully, I do not talk to a live audience --But i use a script , but I improvise a lot ! Feel the Words ,,,, Great advice , Riaz . Gonna try some of these . Awesome content ! Nail the Chunks and keywords - so interesting
Great points! Thanks. Familiarising oneself with the content makes all the difference. I agree that we need to work our hardest to deliver those intros and outros!
