Sometimes I believe that if Cinema ever was in a death game, this guy wouldn't only win, but he would probably make it a HOBBY. I'd want Cinema on my team.
He would be a worst team mate ever. Just for talking sht abaut Mr White. Mr White was a key to alot of things that happened. He was first one to talk to others. He discovered that they can move, stand up, walk etc. He was the only one who pointed out how basic all the rules are. Dont talk to guards/examinator. Don't spoil your paper. Don't leave. He even pointed out that everything else is permited because it isin't mentioned as not permited. On top of that he eliminated 2 others. One that he back-stabbed, and other who he understood enough to manipulate him into eliminations (Before you respond to this I'm trying to avoid what's called "result bassed analysis"). Now things he got horribly wrong: "I would try to lure Mr. White to the door and push him out". This is the worst thing that you can do. Mr White was the most dangerous person in that room. Loud, abnouxous, racist to some level, abusive. We as society tend to avoid people like that if we can. And even if eliminating person like this might seem like something a real "Hero" would do that at the same time means you are now most dangerous person in a room. If people team up you wont be in that team. So better to lay low and watch what happens from a far while agreeing with everyone in turns to keep people on the good side. "If company installed 3 types of lights and using them leads nowhere... it's a distraction". Not really. I would never make this assuption. In fact if they did this, this is either a way to the anwser or they started tracking from the wrong point and they found this a bit to early to understand. Looking for clues would be main priority. Also this might be a way to waist some time, in that case time is very important. So no one would ever jump to a conclusion that this is a distraction. "It was stupid of Mr White to tell the true abaut him eliminating Brown on purpose". Couldn't agree more, Cinema finally made a point I can agree on! "Plant theory abaut Mr Deaf". Yeah everything he says there is just a way to brag because he watched the movie and knows this. He doesn't make a single decent point abaut this. And glasses being dropped was missed by everyone. So none of his arguments hold up. AND he already pointed out that each of them really diffrent from diffrent regions with nothink in common. This guy doesnt look like any of them, and brakedown during test might be for loads of other reasons starting with simple fears (claustropfobia) to just pure pressure abaut him getting a job and seeing that he has no chanse. So going for "he must be a plant" ""Guess" is not a guess but just using information he has that he normaly wouldn't. "Acusations abaut Mr White being a plant". Now This THIS makes sence. He was the most active one who made everyone think, move comunicate. He did some good and some bad at the start. That is how a plant would work in this type of scenario. Just imagine them sitting there for 80mins not doing anything. Mr White was responsibe for most of the teamwork they did. He MAY be a plant
I’m just trying to figure out how that woman was dumb enough to think the test sheet was from the disqualified woman when they LITERALLY just ripped up her sheet??

I don’t know why this man makes every movie seem like it’s in the same universe. The background music, his tone, voice enunciation, and even sound clicks make everything seem so freaking familiar. Awesome content dude
This wasn't even a death game situation though. None of the applicants actually died, they just left the room. It was more a mind game rather than a death game.
The white dude got beat up, so he was the biggest loser. Everyone else just was walked out without a job, but he was walked out without a job and with bruises xD
Mr. Brown had done the room a disservice when he left. He could have helped the others by, when he quit, talked to the invigilator instead of walking out the door, triggering the guard to act and removing the gun from play.
3:06 the 80 years things, while sounding suspicious and creepy, might actually just imply that the company is capable of giving them longer lifespan, given the ending revelation that it's a very successful phama company.
Yea, this is the primary implication of "next 80 yrs of your life". The company is working on life extension. The other potential implication brought up - that a study will have long ranging effects for 80 yrs on the world - is really a stretch.
This is probably the first time ive seen a plot twist at the end with good people and good intentions instead of an evil twist. Phenomenal movie on top of it.
it violates the rule of not being able to talk to the invigilator, thats why the weird CEO guy came back, cuz hes not the invigilator OR the guard, but a "player".
@@woogee513 But if someone were to ask a question when he says if there's any questions, what will happen? Also, the test hasn't technically started it, so I believe it's fine.
What if someone had answered "no" that at the start? That would have been a direct speach to the invigilator, and would disqualify you for the correct answer.
If you had replied "no" the logic is thus: Asking him any questions is a breach of the rules. Some people argue it hadn't started yet. Regardless if it had started or not you're giving an answer, not asking him a question. So yes or no theoretically would be fine and offer no reprisal. It's unclear if someone had answered yes and then proceeded with a question as the proctor clearly asked for a question which in itself is an answer.
@@--florien-- No. The answer to pass was not having the right answer, it was having the right question. The whole point of the test was for the candidates to understand the question. Those who would've realized what the question was and answered with a yes or no at the end would have passed since they were smart enough to find out what the question meant. Their answer as yes or no probably would not have affected if they passed.
Candidate 4 would have been disqualified regardless of whether or not she set her paper on fire: according to rule 4 (ironically), you cannot ruin your own paper under any circumstances. Unless they made the paper entirely waterproof, which seems impossible considering you can write on it with pencils, so it isn't laminated, that means that Candidate 4 ruined her own paper as soon as she turned on the sprinklers, while the other papers are safe since the other candidates didn't cause the sprinklers to turn on themselves.

@@BRAZILIAN_MIKU stop😂😂😂😂😂. But that would’ve been funny cause she literally translated the question to everyone and no one answered him, bro has said one thing the entire time and no one even listened😭
Someone pushing you out of the room would actually be a huge advantage since the rules don't require you to be in the room. As long as you were forced out and didn't choose to leave, you could presumably stay out there without being disqualified. You could just stand in the doorway listening in on everything and be totally safe from the other applicants when shit starts hitting the fan. You have to ruin your page yourself to get disqualified, and they can't physically force you to do anything without leaving the room and disqualifying themselves.
That is so smart! The only way to get disqualified then would be talking to one of the two men you're not allowed to talk to. A disadvantage would be an inability to look for clues, so you'd just be left there listening and thinking, possibly being lied to by the people still in the room.
@@sabrinagranger5468 just like others pushing me out would eliminate one risk, so would others burning my paper eliminate another risk. The only remaining danger would be my big mouth...
Imagine you're walking in for a job. You're stressed, you're tired. You've been rejected from what feels like hundreds of positions already, and this is just one more in the pile. Your suit's itching too much, you feel the sweat on your skin, you groan and grumble quietly to yourself. This latest exam proctor is going on about rules and they all sound like the usual jargon. Right as you're about to pass out, you snap awake, hearing the proctor ask "Are there any questions?" And you, half-dazed as you are, respond absentmindedly saying "No questions... Zzrnff..." Suddenly, the glasses-wearing man in front turns around, grasping your hand in a handshake. You have the job. ...And five other people shocked and screaming that you won by accident.
I feel like when he asked "Does anyone have any questions" I would have maybe said "No" out loud instinctively. Would that make me a winner? I don't think it proved I was capable of anything...
If you can't write on the paper or speak to the invigilator/those behind glass, then how do you answer if you just realized the answer 5 minutes in? Maybe just say it loudly not looking at anything "My answer is No!"? You wouldn't neccessarily know about the French guy. The instructions and answer do not say or even imply you need to know about him nor do they imply you need to disqualify all the other applicants. You just need to answer the question. So if you remembered the question was "Do you have any questions?" , how can you answer it without eliminating yourself?
Cant believe they just went "mh yes... b l a c k" isntead of like,, an actual nickname ejdnbdbd like they coulve talked about their suits or even given themselves a name??
"Asks if any of them have a question". The correct answer is absolutely "Yes". They all had so many questions. She answers "No"...they tell her she wins and then she immediately asks a question. Better ending would have her break down in tears and admit she has so many questions, thus correctly answering the question. They then pick her up and let her know she has correctly answered the question and has won the competition.
I think that he wasn't referencing for the questions they asked themselves, but the questions that were on their sheets. And indeed, on the papers, was written only 'Question 1', with no question following. So there was indeed no questions, on the papers at least.
In my opinion the reason they were all very diverse means that, the company WANTED THEM to get mad at each other and basically destroy each other. Without realizing it.
This movie is the perfect representation of an average Escape Room experience: Everyone driving eachother insane with crazy and overcomplicated solutions while completely ignoring the obvious correct answer.
To be honest, I remember the first time I watched this and realizing that the question was verbally given not long after they flipped the paper. The papers are blank because it's an ORAL exam and that's also why you can't spoil your own paper in any way. You're not supposed to answer on the paper. Also, the wording isn't just relevant to the rules, but to who can pass because it wasn't stated that only ONE could pass: "who leaves this room with a contract of employment and who leaves with the bus fare home." More than one could have passed if they answered verbally at the same time while addressing each other because, as within the rules, candidates can talk to each other freely. Doing it that way would've gotten all of them jobs within the corporation. I think the best strategy would be to write the rules down of the test on the desk and to work together using those rules and more importantly, the description of the test: "the test is simple." Meaning, like you said, everything in the room is a red harring and you're supposed to go by the description and rules given to you and ONLY that. You can talk to one another, hence why Deaf has something important to the test, IE his glasses, because at that moment he's CEO playing candidate, someone the others can interact with and not face repercussions (the only loophole tbh). Get rid of the ones who don't want to cooperate, IE White, if needed and answer at once. The main issue is the answer part, but also not really. Again, "the test is simple" and more importantly, "there's one question and one answer is required." REQUIRED implying there is no right answer because he would have said "and there's one answer." So they could all answer at once to each other and it wouldn't really matter what they answered, either "yes" or "no" or "maybe," a one-word answer because there's ONE answer you need to give.
That's a really good point that the answer has to be said out loud. I would never figured that. Also, would that mean since Mr. Black didnt leave the room, would he be hired as well? Him and Ms. Blonde has proven to be a pretty good team when taking down Mr. White (who honestly would be better to not hire because of his questionable character), so that makes this ending all the more uplifting. Either way, good on Ms. Blonde for getting the job.
25:25 "That was a dumb mistake ... she cared too much about the life of this man". Some people would say that caring about whether someone lives or dies isn't a "mistake".
The "company" was the SCP foundation. The tests they are doing are perfect for a researcher at the foundation, as they must learn from the fall of others, think in non-normal ways, and work intelligently under pressure of loss of life or job. They also somehow seem to care an awful lot about a job which they can't describe, for a company they don't know, and for reasons none of them state. That sounds like classic amnestic to me. Blocking out the memories of the "company" itself while leaving their motivation still there. Similarly, the man says that they'll be working for the rest of their lives, I suspect he says this because you can never leave the foundation once you're in it. More-over, a pill which cures anything? That's literally just SCP - 500. I think they're in a standard light containment cell, as it's got several inches of concrete as the walls, a thin steel sliding door, and bullet-proof glass for observations. While still not being a completely unbreakable bunker.
Void your theory is incorrect, many secure companies are like that, if its a joke it isn't funny at all, the movie has nothing related to scps, and rich companies have good researchers and it isn't a pill that cures anything its a pill for 1 disease, and the cells are related to secure containments. if your saying something wayyyyyyy different from scp, your probably a literal 8 year old.
@@148roach It's not even that. It's just a movie. Let people believe what they want what it is all about- especially if it makes them happy to think they found it out.
You have to take in mind that if they had said no at the start they would all be disqualified as they're not suppose to say it to the invigilator but to the French guys specifically.
Okay here is my thinking. When asked "do you have any questions?" the "no talking to the invigilator" part was still VERY fresh on their mind. Wouldnt just loudly saying while looking at the wall or something "I am going to speak out loud while talking to/adressing noone in particular. No I dont have any questions" ("speaking to the room") Have worked and actually just won them the game instantly? That loophole came into my head several times during watching, yet it did not come up at all despite being kinda obvious?
I would’ve taken a look at the paper, at the guard, and around the room, then I’d ask them for permission to leave, and go home to look for an easier job. If they require a test that doesn’t even tell me what the question is, I’m probably not smart enough to figure it out anyway, and by extension I’m probably not qualified for this job. So I guess my solution here would to know my limits and simply cut my losses early.
Honestly if I was there, I'd do the same. Sit around for maybe 15-20 minutes doing nothing and then go, "Yo, this is super sketch. I'm out!" and then go home to look for a different job.
Imma just say it. It's pretty easy for this dude to provide all of these "logical" strategies since it's coming from somebody who has watched what has already happened. If it were real time, it'd be harder to survive. This is like Captain Hindsight from South Park. Tells people what should've been done after it has already happened.
That's true in some cases. But other comments have said they figured some of these ideas out within minutes of seeing something happen in the movie. It's not hard to think to look at the paper with the glasses as soon ad Mr Deaf was pushed out the room. And yet the characters didn't think of it until the end of the movie.
@@rosestar1324 yes you say that, however, you did not immediately have that lightbulb pop out of ur mind when it happened in real time… 100% guaranteed you finished the video first hand or watched the movie. All those things can instantly be solved by simple looking at his paper with his glasses in his spot. I obviously didnt do that but i did figure out it was probably the glasses cuz nobody else can be looking with his glasses
@@bigiron7547 i would have LITERALLY solved the question as soon as glasses guy said shit.... "Oh he sees something. I gotta figure out what he sees, what it means, and why he sees it" there are only so many reasons he would be able to see something like that. And as for your whole " oh but nobody else had glasses so it probably wasnt needed to solve the question" the room is diverse enough for me to think everyone is here for a reason. Everything is valuable in cases like this. If your in a death game the ither players are a valuable resource you can use and manipulate from behind the scenes.
No, ultra violent light doesn’t work that way. The gas that’s inside is ionized at a certain emission spectra that it creates ultraviolet light. The glass has nothing to do with it. The gas is most likely ionized mercury.
It'd make me laugh if this was one of those "read this test very carefully" tricks where the final bit of text on the paper says not to write on it and to turn it in for a 100%

Then, exactly 8:00 minutes later, at 12:25, the camera cuts to the fourth candidate, who answers "No." 2. Then, exactly *80 minutes* later, at 1:32:25 into the film, Mr. Black rises up as the CEO says, "He is risen" in French, showing the potential of the "job" as the candidate accepts it. Coincidence? 7:59 I am dubious that holding a broken UV florescent tube up to an incandescent light will work in this situation. Technically, yes, the phosphor coating on the florescent tube is what absorbs and re-emits the light in the UV wavelength. However, I am quite skeptical that they will be able to put enough energy into those phosphors to generate a suitable amount of UV light. Especially so with all the other visible light in the room that would be washing it out.
UV is a higher energy spectrum of light than visible, and fluorescence and phosphorescence effectively always reduces the energy of light. A high energy photon must excite an atom into a higher energy state, then that atom must re-emit that energy, and when it does so it always does so at a specific wavelength matching the difference in the atom's energy states. Quantum mechanics means you can't excite an atom without a single photon having sufficient energy to pass the band gap (more photons doesn't do it).
Yeah the video creator is full of shit. The mercury vapor in fluorescent lamps emits UV on its own - phosphors change the lamp color and protect us from UV.
You are correct, the light source in fluorescent lamps emits a high amount of UV radiation, plus that the glass used in "normal" lamps block uv radiation. The only things "special" about the glass in a UV light is that: A) It has no fluorescent coating to change the UV to visible. B) the glass allows UV through.
12:13 "When he steps in front of the doorway, I'd push him out, forcing him to get disqualified" You're wrong! They specifically said in the movie that the person has to get out willingly, so pushing someone out wouldn't do anything. It might even get YOU disqualified, but not them.

Sometimes I believe that if Cinema ever was in a death game, this guy wouldn't only win, but he would probably make it a HOBBY. I'd want Cinema on my team.
Make sure he thinks you're worth keeping around, since cinema's strategies usually include backstabbing people
Yeah if Cinema was in your team you would become meat shields
Yeah you don’t unless it’s a team death game which it usually isn’t
Now things he got horribly wrong:
"I would try to lure Mr.
He would instantly kill you
Even with all these explained to me, I'm pretty sure when I'm put in a situation like this, I'll just end up doing what all these people did.

That would have been a direct speach to the invigilator, and would disqualify you for the correct answer.
But when he asked if you had a question, and you shook your head, that would not be speech, but would be giving an answer.
The test hadn't started yet.
If you had replied "no" the logic is thus: Asking him any questions is a breach of the rules. Some people argue it hadn't started yet. Regardless if it had started or not you're giving an answer, not asking him a question. So yes or no theoretically would be fine and offer no reprisal. It's unclear if someone had answered yes and then proceeded with a question as the proctor clearly asked for a question which in itself is an answer.
what if someone did have a question? wouldnt they lose?

Exactly I don’t even have to spend time picking one out. An he even does the same thing I do look for ways to get out or win.
Holy shit, could have just said something, didn’t have to write an essay
That's a really good point that the answer has to be said out loud. I would never figured that. Also, would that mean since Mr. Black didnt leave the room, would he be hired as well? Him and Ms. Blonde has proven to be a pretty good team when taking down Mr. White (who honestly would be better to not hire because of his questionable character), so that makes this ending all the more uplifting.
Either way, good on Ms. Blonde for getting the job.

I was always skeptical of Honey, but if Cinema Summary is suggesting it then it must be able to help me survive at some point in my life.
Cinema Summary doesn't really have a choice, the guy is being paid to say good things about it. Its not a recommendation, it's an advertisement

No, ultra violent light doesn’t work that way. The gas that’s inside is ionized at a certain emission spectra that it creates ultraviolet light. The glass has nothing to do with it. The gas is most likely ionized mercury.

It'd make me laugh if this was one of those "read this test very carefully" tricks where the final bit of text on the paper says not to write on it and to turn it in for a 100%
Kinda like don’t press this button
Like one of those 80s movies where the kid rips up the test infront of the professor and passes it because that was the test
I mean it kinda is in a way, just verbally and spun to the extreme. After watching the whole vid that "read this test very carefully"-practice was kinda the first thing that jumped into my mind^^

The most important thing to fo first in scenarios like these,
Get rid of ‘Cinema Summary’ if you’re in the same game as him, he is too dangerous and you can’t allow him to get enough information to analyse the situation and let you use as a meat shield.

Here's one for you: They are given *80:00 minutes* to figure the answer.
1. At exactly 4:25 into the film, we are shown Candidate 4. Then, exactly 8:00 minutes later, at 12:25, the camera cuts to the fourth candidate, who answers "No."
2. Then, exactly *80 minutes* later, at 1:32:25 into the film, Mr. Black rises up as the CEO says, "He is risen" in French, showing the potential of the "job" as the candidate accepts it.

@@animowany111 Was about to comment the same thing, I like your explanation.
The only things "special" about the glass in a UV light is that:
A) It has no fluorescent coating to change the UV to visible.
B) the glass allows UV through.
12:13 "When he steps in front of the doorway, I'd push him out, forcing him to get disqualified"
You're wrong! They specifically said in the movie that the person has to get out willingly, so pushing someone out wouldn't do anything. It might even get YOU disqualified, but not them.
