The one factor that could of finished this entire movie within minutes is if they brought a slipper with them. I've seen my grandma slaughter countless bugs with that so inviting her to the team would've brought them to an instant victory.
The thing is, cockroaches evolve really fast because they go through generations so fast. Fast evolution is just as much a boon as it is a curse. Insecticides and bug bomb adaptation is only temporary and can be bred out of if you stop bombing for a period of time. Eventually, they'll outgrow the adaptation and become weak to it again.
Not gonna happen, because they manage to evolve by assimilating the abilities of the dead crewmate, and with a wise leader, it is now impossible for them to be defeated.
One major thing you're forgetting here when extrapolating the strength of the bugs abilities when human size is that the only reason that bugs have such high strength to weight ratio is BECAUSE they're small. Once they get larger the inverse square law says they will fall apart or be very weak. Given this, it would be necessary for the creatures to develop both stronger musculatures and some form of a skeleton. This would make them be more like mammals and would take away lots of their abilities.
Underated comment i had the same question when i read the manga cuz it didn't care to go into the subject instead slapped the evolution means stronger song and dance
This is correct, although I would add that no material known to mankind, organic or otherwise, allows you to simply scale up any body plan. Insects would have to change their entire structure to be the size of humans. Also, the bigger you are, the more heat you generate and the more difficult it becomes to dissipate said heat.
I love how he actually made his own power rangers team with insects. This is the type of content I want to see! Seriously I appreciate all the effort he puts into his videos!
@@moxiemaxie3543 they can transform back. The drugs effect would eventually wear off after 3 hours-ish iirc, depends on what kind of insect. Well, at least that what I know after watching the anime.
Okay at this point we gotta compile cinema summaries' weaknesses. This man is the ultimate survival scenario, we need a rival youtuber to explain how to beat him!
Basically two-step process Step 1 track him down this would not be easy and it would not be quick but given enough time and can happen Step wait till he's asleep and then take the gun to him
What if, like Batman, who has a contingency plan for every ally and whose plan for himself is for his allies to take him down together, this guy's plan to defeat himself is to count on every other UA-cam channel that does this sort of thing?
Despite being human, he has watched every movie known to existence. This is a serious threat. Mainly due to the mass amount of death games movies he has witnessed and solved. But that could be his main weakness, knowing he is put in a life or death situation we can use this to our advantage. The human is only able to stay awake for 2 days before you start to hallucinating, knowing this we will have the trap set up
Honestly I think ants would have been far more dangerous to deal with then cockroaches, because a standard cockroach would rather run away from you then attack you, ants on the other hand no matter their size will always try to attack you regardless of the situation, especially if you sabotaged their territory.
Ants behave more like a super-organism, where the survival of the colony is prioritized over the survival of the individual The queen isn't really a commander or general, the ants just evolved so that they'd put all of their eggs in one basket (literally), wich is easier to defend and makes the loss of a worker even more irrelevant, since "we got the baby making machine back at HQ" But yeah, it basically is the colony that decides what to do, of course if the baby making machine asks for more water you give it the water or else you won't get any new babies, but all decisions are taken by the whole, the queen just asks for stuff It's still kinda risky, since if you kill the queen you basically kill the colony, that's why certain colonies have more than one queen; there's also the gamergate system that I suggest you do some research on if you're interested in this stuff because it's pretty cool Cockroaches are cool too, they are smart insects and tend to form colonies on their own, and they also can regenerate their bodies and survive is very harsh environments, also they reproduce really fast But cockroaches don't really have any tools to hunt, ants have venom and mandibles, cockroaches got their tiny mouths, so it makes sense that they'd be scavengers, wich works out pretty well for them So yeah, ants are more deadly than cockroaches, who could've expected that a predator could be more dangerous than a decomposer
There is a more simple way: the roaches are so effective because they have the writers assistant every step of the way so the protagonists they have to go meta and rewrite their story or if you prefer to break the story.
In the anime, they can change into creature’s other than insects. One can change into a Huntsman Spider. The main character into a bag worm moth and then there’s some who can change into birds and mammals.
The most hard to believe part was the idea criminals like these would work together and show concern for each other. Was waiting for this so glad you finally did it.
@@chrishayes6359 Well I was referring to the serial killer, terrorist, and human trafficker. I agree there is at times honor among thieves but people among this group would realistically be too violent and dangerous to comply with one another. For example I think in real life their first instincts would be to save themselves over each other. Granted self preservation and team work can coincide.
Meanwhile in the manga The Island Of Giant Insects, everyone is a normal civilian yet EVERY SINGLE FUCKER is either selfish, a sociopathic rapist, panics and blames the protagonist who is greater than jesus and god with sliced bread, deceives everyone only to be a hypocrite and do the same, abandons everyone for them selves, kills others or is just batshit insane. All while the only good characters either die or sacrifice them selves for someone FAR less worthy to be saved. And the protagonist is the most unfortunate great mary sue that is actually a great character. No matter how great she is, saves everyone, knows what to do, is innocent as a cupid's puppy and knows everything about insects everyone STILL either try to rape her, discredit her, betray, dismiss, question, sabotage or just murder. Yet in this movie you mean that criminals somehow get along from the get go in a certain death situation of Lovecraft levels of BS monsters.

Wow this film looks insane! Seriously impressed by your insect research though, that above and beyond really elevates your videos, who else would work out what human-insect hybrid would best work to kill human cockroaches!
*Me:* “Don’t kill me, I’ll do anything!” *Rich man:* “Take out human sized cockroaches for the sake of humanity” *Me:* “….. on second thought, the electric chair sounds nice”
So let me get this straight. A singular cockroach was exposed to the mind poison, and probably wasn't even related to those eggs in the slightest, but those eggs just happened to evolve immunity to the toxin AND automatically learn fighting techniques from earth just by being born. Uh-huh. I have a lot of issues with this movie but that has got to be the biggest for me.
@@pranamahardika300 yaa with something like this, I’d assume they learn ans evolve incredibly fast, but their main attribute is adaptation for survival. Just being around the humans and learning from them, they past down those traits, at least that what they imply. That they evolve at such a high rate, so each generation is more resilient than the last. Being able to study humans at great speeds makes some sense as humans just became the biggest “threat” to their survival. As far as we know, humans are the sus invaders, and a threat to the roach civilization’s well being. I imagine if they were the ones coming to visit and check us out, we’d fire on sight too
He didn't even think about the Emerald Jewel Wasp when assembling his non-lethal team... the literal bane of roaches. A few well-placed stings, and boom; slave roaches.
@@arandomcrusader8822 yeah, I dunno if that dumb lady had her slave roach lay an egg, or what, but there's no other way the roaches could have been born immune to her stings, so like, as long as you build your army of slaves before then, you should be gucci. With enough normal roaches under control, taking out the two newborns before they can spread their resistance should be easy. Enough ants can take down an elephant, after all.
wait... the traitor saves the main character by killing a roach with his gun? If bullets worked this whole time, why didn't they just use more bullets?
the reason ants are so strong is BECAUSE they are small, if a human had "bullet ant genes" it wouldnt be much stronger. The bigger something is, the more energy is needed to hold itself up and move, so smaller animals can lifter higher percentages of their own wheight
Your not thinking in the way the creators planned for the dna to work…imagine if there was a creature as tall as the Empire State Building….Us humans would be the size of ants compared to that creature….now if we had bullet ant genes we would technically be able to do the same marvelous stunts ants do but on human level…what you are trying to do is keep the same level of energy the ant has and apply to humans but you have to think that the power would obviously be multiplied to human terms because that’s the whole point of powering up you gotta think bro
Its called movie logic. We take thing, thing this strong, multiply size, thing stronger by size multiplier, wow isnt that cool super power? In othet words, we know and we dont care. This isnt science, its a movie
This is a very odd criticism to have of this kind of movie. It’s not like it’s meant to follow all of our laws of nature, it’s a sci-fi movie about buff roaches lmao 😭
I realized that in Terra-Formars the protagonists are like the enemies of Kamen Riders, while the roaches are evil Kamen Riders. It's a lopsided Kamen Rider story. Correct me, but last I checked, the manga story got cut short because of the writer's illness. We probably would've known there if the cockroach mutation was actually done artificially rather than naturally.
Other than plot reasons, it really is a question why they seemingly chose random insects for the crew to be powered up by. CS has a point in picking the right bugs to make an ultimate combo, but wouldn't it also be a smarter move to take creatures that are natural predators of cockroaches? Say a frog crewmember who could snap up cockroaches at mach speed with their gigantic tongue or a lizard who could regenerate at breakneck speeds. Having creatures like the Sleeping Chironomid who has the signature move of fake death is ironically dead weight.
In the manga they explain that a person needs to be compatible with a certain animal to gain its capabilities, that's why they can't choose the animal they want to be.
@@thecontrollerofbots4099 Would have made things worse. This is like the first of 3 missions if I remember correctly. The Cockroaches end up stealing the powers of crew members killed on this mission.
In the manga, instead of just jabbing dna into you, you are supposed to go through an operation that has a low chance of survival to gain the powers. Even then, you have to be compatible with the animal in order to survive the operation so you cant really just choose. Also they did have a spider, the huntsman spider but that is the story for another time. (This movie is about annex 2 whereas the manga starts from annex 3)
I feel like adding a scorpion for the venomous tail and claws, a dung beetle for heavy lifting, and a hawk wasp for basically a stronger version of the hornet would be useful for a team
Most notable animal in the sequel, but the ones I only remember. Team Russia has a Death Stalker Scorpion, Tasmanian King Crab, Trap Door Spider, Centipede, and Weed on their team. Team Japan has a Blast Ant, Bugworm, Harpy Eagle, Skunk Team USA has a Asian Hornet, Orca, Huntsman Spider, white-throated needletail, Peacock Mantis Shrimp, and Narwhal. Team China has the Blue Ring Octopus, Cuttlefish, a type of sponge, and the most broken ability of a bacteria. Team Romania has the Archer fish, but they got wiped out. Team Germany has the predatory cricket, planarian and an electric fish. The Terraformars aka the cockroach has a diving beetle, desert locust, Bombardier beetle, rainbow beetle, mole cricket, demon dragon fly, bullet ant, cone snail, a f*king honey badger, Tasmanian king Crab, Dung beetle, jumping cactus, unknown whale type, and a peacock mantis shrimp
Okay so my HUGE nitpick with this story is it’s misrepresentation of evolution, Evolution typically occurs due to traits acquired from natural selection…. The toughest survive and pass down their traits, if the cockroaches were the only thing on Mars it would be quite the opposite effect; no other animals mean no real predators for the cockroachesand it would actually be the exact opposite of what this movie portrays instead of getting super speed and super strength they would theoretically slow down and get weaker. Also about the amount of baby’s produced that would diminish MAJORLY the reason animals produce so many more baby’s is to offset the chance of none of the offspring surviving but if there are guarantees that the babies would survive wouldn’t they evolve to produce less and less babies? Idk I’m reading too much into a movie about a planet full of kryptonion fucking cockroaches
That wouldn’t really make a cool movie though. Imagine, they are sent to mars, somewhat nervous. They go walk around, and see a dead carpet of tiny cockroaches. They go home and are done, free to not have cool big powers.
When watching this I had a genius breakthrough, when one crew member dies, take their bug DNA to use it after you use yours,it could result in multiple strong strategies that could have saved their lives
Given that real-world roaches can easily fall victim to suffocation with dusts and even mites, the answer might be to genetically modify mites that will block their airways and even the airways for eggs. The mites would also need to be genetically modified to be very weak to something else for the humans to use as an insecticide later on to keep the same mistake from happening again. Hell, you could probably even modify that one parasite that infects slugs and lures them to get eaten by birds. Modify it to infect the roaches to attack eachother, but of course also be vulnerable to something to use as insecticide later. Overall though, the best option would be to see how many Roach traits stayed and improved and how many left. There is just as much potential as there is concern of the roaches finding a way off the planet and comng to Earth, but it's a serious problem that would need to he taken seriously asap.
They have indeed manage to invade earth already, and they manage to gain the ability of the old and new deceased crewmates, and unlike humanity who has a low success rate in the Mosaic Operation, the Terraformars have 80-90% and only few on humanity's side could actually fight, the rest are not combatant, and humanity's strongest is colluding with the cockroach.

Some explanation by the manga: yes, they should have used termites. But the black exoskeleton pf the roach would help heaten the atmosphere. 2. The insect is random based on the DNA compatibility between Human and insect. 3. The 3rd mission can and do use DNA from other sources, but I sect being simple it's still the most compatible.
Don't forget the part about the virus left by an alien race that expected humans to arrive to Mars first. Not expecting them to send cockroaches. So the virus caused the cockroaches to become humanoid as it affected the silk moths that were also left from the second arrival to Mars when they started to have faces and fingers on them in a creepy part in the manga.
@@RicardoSantos-mc9fc In the manga they start noticing the silk moths have changed and the lead of the Russian team mentions it. That one girl turned into an insect that, at its normal size, could withstand being stepped on by the heaviest land mammal on Earth...but she couldn't withstand a crash that threw her to the ground and had her head smacked off??? These people turned into super forms of insects with their powers being scaled up and they were taken out with ease as if they were still human??! That pissed me off the most.
Its because she was bigger, strenght doesn't scale up it scales down with size. Physics just kind of works differently. Insects are subjected to hundreds of G's on a regular basis just because of how they move and yet they're fine. This is also why insects can lift like 100 times their own body weight while something like an elephant with its trunk can only left a few hundred pounds.

I have some suggestions for your insect team: I'd kick the caterpillar and the assassin bug out. The caterpillar's has venom can take days to kill someone, even scaled up the caterpillar wouldn't last long. The assassin bug's abilities to paralyze, liquify and suck dry prey is matched by many other arthropods. Therefore, I'd suggest the following three: 1.) The tiger beetle for it's intense speed, durability and massive biting power, regularily bringing down prey much larger than itself. 2.) Scolopendra gigantea (since we don't have to stick to insects) as they're also incredibly fast, durable and strong, have multiple limbs for combat, boast gigantic, powerful and venomous forcipules (to liquify and suck up prey) and can produce poisonous secretions from glands at the sides of their bodies as well. I'd pick those two as my frontline defense. And for the coup de grace: 3.) They actually have my first choice in the movie, it's the lady in the plot twist.
Well thought through! Only thing I'd change is, as Ghifari says, to add the Mantis Shrimp, probably the bludgeon and spearing varieties both. The former basically has a shotgun power hammer that *literally cavitates water*, so that would be INSANE at human scale, while the latter is like praying mantis but even faster. If there was a way to remove their reliance on water, they'd be just about perfect choices for frontline fighters (only a few frontliners rarely works out well when you have squishy allies to protect).
The amount of research you do is incredible and this video is a great example of it. Thank you for all the work you put into these videos! We all appreciate it!

question: is tardigrade on the genetic menu too? i would also add a tardigrade to your custom team because they're famous for their unrivaled resilience, this could make them a bodyguard for the team but especially the moth who, while poisonous, would be kinda fragile against these mistakes of evolution if they got past the spikes

3:40 you dont travel to other planets in a straight line. If you use chemical rockets (no ftl shenanigans) then you need to make a transfer, the reason for the 2 year period is earth and mars need to be in such orbits is that when the rocket is on the other side of the solar system it intercepts mars, this is why the voyage take months just to get there. You need to get more orbital speed around earth, by accelerating in the direction you are going (with adjustments) in a trajectory so you pickup speed when you exit into the solar system ( as in now you orbit the sun) to then travel to roughly the other side of the solar system, where you are supposed to be then caught by the gravitation of Mars where you can then slow down by burning in the opposite direction of your heading enough you achieve orbit, Then until you start falling down towards the ground, then perform a [REDACTED FOR YOURTUBE] burn to slow down and then land, hopefully at a safe speed. There is a lot of maths involved but this is what i remember of it.
I'd suggest anyone interested in seeing roughly ow it works, go watch a bit of Scott Manley. He's done a ton of videos on Kerbal Space Program, which despite its somewhat silly appearance, is actually a very accurate orbital physics simulator. Like you said, it's fairly complicated maths, but a game like KSP makes it a lot more accessible an understandable, since you can see the actual mechanics in action.

I'd like to see this concept, but with 2 possible differences: one, murder hornets or Japanese bullet bees. I wonder if it would be feasible for a bee squadron to still cook their prey. My other thought is: cordyceps fungus, like from the last of us! it would be theoretically possible to engineer a strain designed to take over cockroaches versus ants, and that similarly circumvents the pheromone issue. And unlike the mind control venom, cordyceps physically manipulates its prey, so I don't know that evolution could still provide an immunity.
There's actually a Japanese giant hornet character and a cordyceps character in the manga and they're some of the most powerful roach killers, so you're not far off

Almost nothing of which you will actually use in life.
Also the bigger you are the easier it is for gravity to hold you down and even damage you@@MartinFinnerup

Honestly I think ants would have been far more dangerous to deal with then cockroaches, because a standard cockroach would rather run away from you then attack you, ants on the other hand no matter their size will always try to attack you regardless of the situation, especially if you sabotaged their territory.
But cockroaches, are the king of vermins, they could survive and reproduce everywhere, but ants need a queen.
Cockroaches can fly...
@@aidenwoods8254 so can ants
@@chiongmathewjoseph3974 thats actually the ant and the larva mutant that fly like a moth to light after rain forgor the name
Ants behave more like a super-organism, where the survival of the colony is prioritized over the survival of the individual
The queen isn't really a commander or general, the ants just evolved so that they'd put all of their eggs in one basket (literally), wich is easier to defend and makes the loss of a worker even more irrelevant, since "we got the baby making machine back at HQ"
But yeah, it basically is the colony that decides what to do, of course if the baby making machine asks for more water you give it the water or else you won't get any new babies, but all decisions are taken by the whole, the queen just asks for stuff
It's still kinda risky, since if you kill the queen you basically kill the colony, that's why certain colonies have more than one queen; there's also the gamergate system that I suggest you do some research on if you're interested in this stuff because it's pretty cool
Cockroaches are cool too, they are smart insects and tend to form colonies on their own, and they also can regenerate their bodies and survive is very harsh environments, also they reproduce really fast
But cockroaches don't really have any tools to hunt, ants have venom and mandibles, cockroaches got their tiny mouths, so it makes sense that they'd be scavengers, wich works out pretty well for them
So yeah, ants are more deadly than cockroaches, who could've expected that a predator could be more dangerous than a decomposer
There is a more simple way: the roaches are so effective because they have the writers assistant every step of the way so the protagonists they have to go meta and rewrite their story or if you prefer to break the story.
Lol. Sadly that the truth

But how was his breakdown?
thats because they didnt evolve naturally, in the original manga it is revealed that an outside force is helping the cockroaches evolve
@@altaccount9351 Yeah that’s why I said I was reading too much into it
Considering this is a fiction sci-fi movie, yes, you are reading too much into this.
However…..I agree with you! 😛

This movie is based on the manga (Japan comic) with the same name, and it actually just adapted the prologue. Later on in the manga there would be a much bigger joint mission between countries with actual trained personnel, in which China and Germany betrayed other nations lol. Cockroaches was even able to infiltrate Earth and increase their population, etc. And yes, they did used genes of other animals other than insects, such as mantis shrimp.
Underrated comment
@@peepguy3524 Thx!
I actually considered the mantis shrimp here because of their punch and ability to see infrared in the team
@@benjoffe948 I thought about it, but the shrimp has gills and might not survive for long on the surface.
