- Опубліковано 12 вер 2024
- In this video I show you how to tame a jungle aquascape in my Fluval Flex. 3 months of plant growth have to be managed in this planted aquarium using easy Tropica Aquarium Plants. This low tech aquascape is budget friendly and similar can be achieved by anyone following some basic guidelines.
Keep on scaping!

I love the subtitles - I read all of them. I live in western Canada and the differences in our accents combined with difficult to pronounce scientific names causes me to frequently miss them when just spoken. Another well done video!
Thanks Todd, appreciate the feedback 👍🏻
I also pause the videos when the plant names come up to record them down in a notepad for what to buy.
Captions are good, it promotes the correct spellings of plants
The subtitles are really helpful - please do continue them
Subtitles are helpful when looking for the spelling of names. The Flex 9 gallon is my work tank. Great little tank.
Wow, did'nt realize the hard scape was there!
Same here 😬👀
i am deaf and so VERY MUCH APPRECIATE your use of captions and onscreen identification info 👍👍👍
Yes, I do read the subtitles. It’s handy to make notes when I’m interested in a plantname ! 😉. The beginning was very funny 😁
Thanks Martine 👍🏻😂
Very informative and helpful.Thank you and as ANDMA says below pls keep the subtitles.
Cheers George.
I’m aquascaping my aquanano 40 today based on this setup, your videos are great George 👍
Thanks 🙏
George Farmer you’re welcome! Also the intro on this video is the best 🤣👍
Maybe it's just my personal taste, but I absolutely LOVE the overgrown jungle look. Great for breeding guppies, killies, white clouds, etc.
The subtitles means a lot to me. They remind that I ought to listen and watch what's happening when I space out. No, you're not boring, I just have limited attention span sometimes.
Yes your subtitles are read, they are informative especially with plant names and at times quite humorous. Please don’t remove 👍🏻
Glad you like them 👍🏻
Hi George. I read the subtitles. They're really useful when I want to know what a particular plant is. Thanks for the vid. Hi to Nimrod.
Will do ! 👍🏻
I like the subtitles, gives me an idea what to buy. I also bought a Fluval Flex about a month ago and the plants are doing great, even better than in my other aquarium. Same plants btw. Greetings from the Netherlands!
Cheers!
Yes we read the subtitles George. Love them with a bit of humour too! 👍 i really hope this tank is an inspiration for lots of people to give planted tanks a try!
Why did you stop using the co2 system George?
agree with the many - subtitles are good, this is how I am learning - I can pause a video and look up the plants I like on a new tab and save etc. Quite useful.
Thanks Randy 👍
Nice transformation! Now I can see there were fishes in that tank too :)
Thanks 🙏
Hi George, I do read the subtitles and think they are a good idea 👍
Putting your game face on at the end😂 great video George👍🏻
😂👍🏻
I find the captions very helpful - they give me a way to easily look up the things you're referring to. Thanks!
Subtitles are great! helps when I think I want to further research on a particular plant mentioned in the video!
loving this replanting George. and yes, I think we all appreciate the extra effort you put in posting the subtitles so please keep on the awesome work!
I love your videos I’ve learned so much thank you very much I just purchased the fluval flex 15 gallon an have done my very first aquascape I have it cycling right now it’s been about 9 days...!!!
Thanks for the feedback Christine and good luck with the scape ! 👍🏻
Nice! I don’t mind the overgrown look, but it does look much better trimmed.
The subtitles really help. Thanks for sharing your great work with us.
Thanks for the comments, really appreciated 👍🏻
Thanks for explaining the process for trimming stem plants. I have had that "umbrella" effect and not enjoyed the final product. I also enjoy subtitles when talking plants as it helps to see the Latin names. Your dog is cute, too.
Thank you Edward 🐶❤️👍🏻
The kessil lights give insane atmosphere to the aquarium ..
This is the exact tank I have, quite good for my beginner skills.
I have tiger wood in mine, but I think a bulkier wood is preferable.
Big alge problem, but I'll fix it when I have days off in a week.
Great video!!
Thanks Tony 🙏
Love this video George.
I just half finished an aquascape (dry scrape) but decided to hand the tank to my cousin so can grow into the new hobby.
Anyhow I have new tank now (fluva megal flex 123), I will be making some modifications and getting the additional extra light under the hood (plant light). The back glass will be frosted, the back plastic will be covered in grey slate, and I will build all the rocks and trees myself, I had a fluval edge for 7 years and managed to aquascape on a tiny level, so exited to start my new project. It will take time to perfect but I can assure it will be one of the best mega flex tanks out there. Of course your welcome to give me some tips.
To me aquaacapping is like creating a pocket of underwater nature in your home, it connects you with nature and can helps relieve dailey stress and tension. I'm so happy to see this hobby has really taken off the last 10 years, its awesome.
Mr R
Great to hear! Thanks for sharing
I love the stump you used for the hard scape, looks good .
Hi George, blimey, forgot you put the wood in there when you set it up, has it really been 3 months already. Great video on how to do a rescape and a great result on the finished set up. One more thing ,yes i read the subtitles !!!. All the best, Martin
Thanks Martin appreciate the feedback 👍🏻
The overgrown look has its charm but It does look really good! Excellent job!
Hi George, great video as always. Love the tank after the makeover. I nearly bought one of these on ebay at weekend, already established, lightly hardscaped and planted. However my washer died on Saturday so had to forego the tank and buy a new bloody washer. Gutted.
Gutted indeed. 😥
Wonderful way to rescape an existing aquascape into something really good by reusing the plants available.. thanks George for this simple yet informative video .. was planning to rescape a few areas of my 75g as well.. #keeponscaping
Cheers Roshan 👍🏻
George I bought one of these tanks on your recommendation, it’s fantastic. The 53b is a really easy plant to maintain. I’ve been out of fishing keeping for over15 years, and decided to return having watched a number of videos of yours, now I’m attempting aquascaping, I may, when I’m brave enough, send a pic of my effort, in a month or two. Please keep up the good work and tutorials. Neil Thomson in Lancashire FY6.
Cheers Neil! 👍
2 years later how did it go neil? 😊
Iv a flex in a box. Waiting to move into our first house to set it up. Probably 6 months away but I plan on using your flex vids as a basis. Thanks!
Good luck! 💚
I like the plant name subtitles being shown. If I don't catch the plant name when it's spoken, I can read it or pause the video and jot it down. Thanks for asking us and again, a great job on the new scape! ❤️👍😀
Thank you Kathleen, appreciate the comments 👍🏻
Very nice look, was nervous when you cut so much off but as always you had a plan 👍
I really love that you make these videos for newbies like me. With your wealth of knowledge you could just make content that would be so far over my head, or promote really expensive equipment that is out of reach to the masses. I really appreciate what you do for people like me just starting out in this hobby. Thank you so much and I love the on screen text too.
Jungle look is always nice but you made a beautiful scape out of it brilliant as always and highly educational too as always thx for all the tips you weave into these vids cheers ....and had to write it keep on scaping 😁
Thanks so much Laszlo 👍🏻
You make it look so simple. I guess being able te get really healthy plants is the key. I also must get a terrascape it’s beautiful.
And YES I read the subtitles, it helps me learning the names and it makes me smile when you are being funny. 😁
Groeten uit Nederland 👋🏻
Thank you ! Glad you like my funnies ! 👍🏻😂
I work for Hagen/Fluval and that is one of the best planted Flex 15's I've seen, kudos to you sir!
Thanks 🙏
Always reading these bubbles George! Please keep them up ;)
Surprising how many fish were in among all those plants. Nice to see them swimming about with a bit more room! It's funny how much watching you do an aquascape makes so much sense to me, with which plants you place and where. I look and I understand it straight away; but when I set out to do my own tanks, even when I've thought it through first and go carefully the end result just makes me scratch my head and wonder where it all went wrong. Your fluency in scaping makes it look deceptively easy! One thing I really love about your videos is that you show that it's okay to rip everything up and start again, and the more we do that, the better our skills become. It's not a matter of setting it up and it will be picture perfect forever. I am inspired to massacre my rotala next time I do a trim.
Thank you for your comments, very much appreciated 👍🏻
Beautifully done! Thanks for sharing Mr. Farmer, have a great day!
Thank you Rommel you too ! 👍🏻
this scape is what got me to buy my Flex and start a planted tank,, loved the re-scape!
Thanks so much 👍🏻
Excellent video, thanks for taking the time in making it!
Thanks 🙏
Ngl i think the really overgrown look is really cool
Whoa! George is slick with the yoyo 👏
😂
Subtitles with plant names really help!
I love your scapes as well as the flex line of tanks and as Christmas rolls around I might be getting either the 9 or 15 gal flex, thanks for the inspiration great video 👍🏽
Thank you for the great videos. I was also glad you explained the terrascape next to your Fluval Flex. The plant name subtitles are very helpful!
Thanks Zack 👍🏻
Thank you very much for the video. I have a Fluval Flex waiting to be set up. I learned a lot here. BTW, I read the subtitles to learn the plant names.
Looks great! The subtitles are always super helpful especially when trying to figure out how to spell some of the plant names. :)
I'm glad you're enjoying the tank, I like it, too. Oh, and I always read the captions as I'm really into plant types!
Yes we read the subtitles and comments.
The change looks great George I like it. Keep the subtitles too, I do read them :)
Cheers Luke 👍🏻
I like the new look much better. Beautiful, easy enough to do scape.💚❤️. You title was misleading though because you didn't "tame" you uprooted, trimmed, and did a new re-scape🙂
Good point ! 👍🏻
Nice rescape! I do read the subtitles, mostly so I can spell the ones I like.
It's amazing what a difference it makes! Haha I like how the tetra were blasting round the hardscape!
I finally bit the bullet and did my first aquascape today.
Great to hear Nathan ! 👍🏻
Yo-yo around all that glass and water? Brave man!
Even braver when he did the "forward toss"(?) at the camera!
Although I love jungle style aquascapes, the new scape looks much more pleasing!
Cheers Rita 👍🏻
I love what you have done with the Flex. I had been hesitant about buying one because of the light, but your plant growth has convinced me. The new Mega Flex is in my near future.
I've just set up a 34l Flex today (will be inhabited by a betta soon) and the light is a lot better than I was expecting. Will be interesting to see if it gives me growth like this bigger version has. Failing that I'll add an RGB light from eBay. The tank itself is a really good buy in my opinion.
Very interesting/informative video George. I set up my own planted tank( 105ltr) on Jan 6th this year after subbing to your channel. Its looking great now.Had problem with Diatom & green algae..after buying 4 Ottocynclus for Diatom & 12 Amano shrimp for the algae the tank is now clear of both. I recommend anyone suffering with Diatom to get youself some Ottocynclus. Thanks for the inspiration re planted tanks George
Cheers John 👍🏻
Great video. I love the detail information on trimming. That seems to be something that not many fish-youtubers do. Very informative. Thank you for sharing. Cherri-O!
Thanks 🙏
The plant's are so tense, you can't see the hard scape :D
Well done George, now it's a proper aquascape
Cheers 🙏💚
A very well informative tutorial on Aquatic Plants! I’m learning a lot from you on your videos. Thank you for sharing! I enjoyed watching!
Thanks Jose 🙏
Love the subtitles, helps me discover new plants for my tanks
Yes the subtitles of the plants and their difficulty level are very usefull.
Totally missed the hint when you asked what your next video was about yesterday. I guess i just love the look of an overgrown tank😁👍👍👍
That looks great George! Love the recomposition.... and you’ve created a sense of depth. Architecture was my first degree, LOL....design theory implemented at its best!
Thank you 👍🏻
I’m amazed how painless that looked. I was expecting the substrate to go everywhere. Nice work! How long would that take if you weren’t filming?
Around 30 mins or so 👍🏻
by the end of the video the music it's to loud to heard you properly, except from that a really good video like always
My error 😆
Great video! The subtitles are actually super entertaining
Thanks for the subtitles. Good help with the plante names. 👍
I read the subtitles, I like to know about the plants
Looks much better now 👍🏻
I do read subtitles - very useful! :)
Thank you !
Looks great man! Love trying to get people into the hobby! Such a great way to get people to join us in epicness! haha Love it George always! ✌🙂
Thanks so much 👍🏻
First of all Yes I read the subtitles (not in the UK). I really liked this video. I have an overgrown 113 liter and wasn't sure where to start. I unfortunately have ADA soil which will not hold together as well as the Tropica soil. Thanks for the inspiration. I now can go forward on this tank. I may even buy the flex you showed in this video. Thanks.
Thanks Terry 👍🏻
I do read the subtitles
They are helpful for ordering plants that I like when I see you plant them
Looks great b.t.w. George! I too have an overgrown tank that I've been putting off doing the same to. Probably star in the morning. As always thanks for the inspiration and great video!👍👍👍
Cheers Vinnie 👍🏻
Great project, thanks for sharing.
Yes I read them don't stop ... and keep up the great work !!
Oh by the way I am from the land down under ...Australia love what you do. Keep on Rambling LOL
Much better!! Love the hard scape showing.
This is one of your best videos for ages!!
Thanks for the feedback Adam much appreciated 👍🏻
Yes I read the subtitles and find them really helpful
Why did you remove the Tropica CO2 system? Do you only use it for a short while and now only use ferts? Also, did you remove the Apistogramma's? Looks amazing how you transformed the tank from a jungle to what it is now.. I'm going to recreate this scape with my Flex 57l and see how I get on! Are you still using the Tropica ferts or have you move to the Aquascaper complete plant food? Sorry for all the questions!
Considering the tank is stocked with all low tech plant species, he probably used the CO2 system temporarily to boost growth and get the foreground plants to carpet. but after the carpeting and boost in growth is complete the use of CO2 is not really needed anymore as low tech plants will have no problem sustaining their current level of growth
It is looking a lot better now , very cool 👍🌿
Love the subtitles, please keep them.
Hey george, I do like the subtitles and I find them to be quiet helpful
I like the tank wif the bent front glass great vid have good sunday 🙏😎
this is a great video again. as always, it is entertaining, you learn something and you remind me a little bit of my father;) Keep it up. Keep on scaping
Thanks the feedback 👍🏻
I love the subtitles, especially all the extra commentary :D The tank is beautiful too! I prefer this new reboot.
I find the volume of your music very loud in contrast to the rest of the video though.
Thanks for the feedback. I think my newer content has a better sound balance. 👍
Looks great! Look forward to seeing it grow in
Yes I read the names! Thank you for every detail! ❤️
Absolute childs play that tank like you said. A brilliant way for new scapers to learn as well as experienced folks. Loved it. Do you propergate any of your trimmings george.
wow !! you play yoyo too!
now i can say I have another common things with George XD (beside aquascaping)
btw nice jungle scape ! i always have a thing for jungle type of scape
Lovely video, George
Cheers Jake 👍🏻
I always read the subtitles, I'm hard of hearing so it's nice to be able to read what each plant is 👍
Noted 💚🙏
Of course I like the subtitles with the names of the plants!
