This is why landlords in Florida should never put utilities in their name. The landlord will lose this case and owe the tenants attorney fees and costs on top of what he will owe the tenants. It would have been cheaper in the long run to pay an attorney and do an eviction the legal way.
Landlords everywhere should also not be renting the people like this in the first place. A small amount of vetting can't prevent this. So many red flags for the landlord to begin with.

We stopped being landlords for this reason. Tenants have more rights than landlords do. And tenants know this. I had a few tenants, one destroyed the home with pets and trash. Got the place fixed up, then the next tenant stiffed us on rent payments. Trashed the doors, food stuck on cupboards and walks. Then on top of that , they allowed one of their neighbors to fill up their swimming pool with our water. We got notified by a neighbor after a day and 1/2 of the water running to the pool. Her excuse was her son plays with their kids. She would pay us for the water. Never happened. We had to have her evicted after failing to,pay rent for 4 months. And then she had the nerve to say her sister was being booted out of her place can she move into our house? We’ve had bad experiences with tenants. Now we find their are fewer and fewer places to rent and it is do to those that made it bad for others. Landlords have to pay a mortgage, and taxes. It just got to be to much.

How far behind is tenant in rent is what the news should be asking. How many months have they not paid. Nobody is going to throw someone out that's paying.
It doesn't matter if a tenant pays rent on time or not. What the landlord is illegal and because they have a history of self evictions and no records filing a court order eviction. They just opened themselves up for arrest and $1000s of lawsuits. The only one who wins is the large corporations who buy the properties after the landlord finally gets the freeloaders out and then they renovate and double the rent. It's a bad situation for both parties. It's easy to see a mother with a baby and feel bad, but the landlord has a mortgage, taxes, maintenance and insurance to pay and could lose the property and their savings over this. Landlords can protect themselves with first, last months rent and security of twice the rent if they like. They can also protect themselves by doing background checks, prior eviction checks. This could also be a case of "Undocumented Landlording" - may be the reason why the "landlord" was doing an illegal eviction; getting paid in cash or with federal benefits exchange for rental space. The need to evict comes when the landlord finds a more "suitable" tenant (either known acquaintance or family member; or someone who will actually pay cash/by legal means).

Landlords are victims of malice destruction of property to give them probable reasons not to pay rent. It is the tenants onus to maintain a habitable apartment until normal wear and tear occurs. It is the tenants duty to pay for habitable space occupied under an agreement or lease. No tenants follow the "Tenant Right ' booklet. I am sure landlords are force to obey the booklet, but not tenants.
Government and news channels are always on the tenants' side of the fence. However, the real victims are landlords. They are the ones exposed to rent arrears, market downturns, property damages, maintenance fees, tenant and neighbor complaints, city by-laws and restrictions placed into the rental property. Tenants can stop rent payment whenever they want but landlord will get their home foreclosed if they are behind with mortgage payment.

So this person is squatting does not pay rent or utilities, then why is she even on the news. Why not rename it to Mother uses her child as a crutch to get out of paying rent and utilities.
No pay no stay! Let her move in with you, uncle or reporter.
😂 right. Thinking about it. He less than man and uncle. Wasting time calling the news. Your niece and her baby need a place to live. The time you spent calling them you could have moved your new stuff out of there or want to pick them up to come stay with you. He don't care anything about her. If so, he would have told her. What do you expect? Niece, you haven't paid your rent...🤷🏾
Whoever said it was bc of non payment? Which they obviously paid bc she would have just filed in court had they not.. sometimes people want to get more money so they just try to kick out the current tenants
Go through the eviction process.
@@SuperDjtoomuch The landlord needs to go through the legal process.
@@SuperDjtoomuch I thought the Uncle was living there too.🤷♀
This is illegal. If the landlord has an eviction order from a judge he should just call the cops and escort them off the property. If they're not paying rent there's a legal way to handle it.
Hey I didn't "cut it off" i just couldn't afford to continue paying it; don't have enough income w/o your rent. Not taking out a loan to keep your utilities on
The Landlord wouldn’t do that unless they weren’t paying rent. Where is the father? Giiiiirl, why u have a baby and u can’t even pay rent? I’d turn the utilities off as soon at the reporter left. Gurlll go move in with a familiar member. U aren’t entitled to free rent, Nor anyone else. No sympathy. She can’t get a job with a new born at home. That’s why she is squatting and feel entitled. Rent don’t care about your situation. These Landlords have a mortgage to pay, and taxes, and insurance!
I agree where is the father to the child
Well said 👏
This is why i dont want to be a landlord entitled thankless people smh
“Freezer full of food” is a stretch
Food the state gave them I'm sure
Full of free food 😂
This is the reason it’s not worth to own property landlords don’t have no rights
Is the tenant going to pay the landlord back for her rent that she has not paid over the past however long she's been owing rent?
Government and news channels are always on the tenants' side of the fence. However, the real victims are landlords. They are the ones exposed to rent arrears, market downturns, property damages, maintenance fees, tenant and neighbor complaints, city by-laws and restrictions placed into the rental property. Tenants can stop rent payment whenever they want but landlord will get their home foreclosed if they are behind with mortgage payment.
Good. Im sure this tenant deserved worse. They like to play victim but don't pay their bills. Landlords dont do this because they want to. The government doesn't help the landlords either.
I would like to know the landlord part of the story as well.
Why wasn't their landlord interviewed to hear his side of the story? 🤔
@@victoriaojeda767 they said multiple times they reached out to the landlord and received no response.
Don't really need the landlords part of the story. It's clear she don't pay rent 🤷🏾 and probably not communicating. Communication can solve a lot of issues
They didn't respond to calls and texts from the reporter.
@@SuperDjtoomuch How is it clear? If it's clear go through the legal process.
Blm preaches not paying rent and blaming others for your lack of responsibility
Eviction moratorium is equal to theft. American law is crappy . Now we all know that~
We all have to ignore crappy american law.
This landlord did right thing for protecting his/her asset.
Landlords are not above the law.
COVID was three years ago. Get over it.
Eviction moratorium is against the Constitution! That’s why most landlords think that eviction moratorium is a crappy law~
Nobody should fell sorry for no one KEEP YOUR LEGS CLOSED
Maybe the news should start the process of them paying their rent and bills too!
Sorry they are going thru hardship But what would happen if the water company did the shutoff nothing you dont pay your bills they get shut off
Evict legally.
@@oliviascales6670 Who says they didn't pay their bills?
@@newtrollaccount384 look at them
When I had a tenant I wanted to get rid of I paid them to leave. In the end it was cheaper than filing and or hiring eviction companies to handle it for you. Unless it in your lease agreement you have to have a court order or the approval of the tenant to visit and inspect the property.
Pay your rent.
Interesting how they report the landlord fault, but nothing about tenants not paying they agreeable rent . Please state all the facts and stop the one-way bias.
They were being evicted for not paying rent for 6 months that’s more than enough time to save up and find another place the fact that they called a news station playing the victim blows my mind
what happened to all that ebt money? bet it was all spent in weaves, lashed and nails.
>we can't pay rent
>15 gold chains
Every time
Evict legally.
Wtf this is ridiculous! Exactly why I’ve always been afraid to rent 😢 I would like to hear what the landlord has to say tho…
