I think people forget that the elderly needs our help and compassion. They are a generation that cared for us and soon it will be our turn to take their place.
The elderly should have more value in our western society - but it seems like people forget that our elders can teach us and guide us and deserve admiration for their experience. I agree.
Exactly. That was a crime. If it was committed against anybody else outside of a nursing home that person would have been arrested. That just goes to show you there is discrimination against the elderly. disgusting.
That poor elderly woman did stuck on the flower pot and maybe they forgot to bring her inside because they didn’t see that elderly woman outside that is really freezing and cold outside in the first place 😳😵
@@WendyHannan-pt7ez facility wont allow u to do it. and if they find u did it anyway, they will discharge ur family from their care. at ur own home do what ever u want
The problem with that (not saying you won't have a solution for) is the constant need of care as old people don't have a concept of time, so they might wake up at all hours of the day and night. You have to make sure that they are not going to hurt themselves but if they do, a quick response if there. You will have to literally baby them from time to time. Then all the hours of having to do that nonstop. And if they develop certain conditions, you will need to be trained on how to handle them. It can and does drain a person. Then of course, the added costs of them living there.
Sbl Lpz Im not elderly im 28 broke my back became paralized i have to have help from my family vary hard to do it by yourself /i feel bad my family helps me out alot
We should treat everyone with respect and teach our children to do the same. Our children will be the ones taking care of our parents and us. So many parents don't parent anymore or lead by example. Just look around when a funeral procession goes by. The respectful thing to do is pull over and wait until they have all gone past. The older folks do it but most of the younger ones don't. If they can't take a few minutes to show respect for people who are having that bad of a day I doubt they show respect to anyone.
When I graduated from nursing school my first job was at a nursing home and I quit after two weeks . I urge people to NEVER put your loved ones in LTC facilities. A lot of nurses, aids and doctors don’t care and facilities are so short staffed . I’ve witnessed so much neglect it’s ridiculous!
I retired for health reasons from my job in an Emergency Dept of 25yrs and now I'm working harder than i ever did in my life caring for my parents. My dad is 89 and my mom is 92 I do absolutely everything for them, all the shopping, meals, laundry, cleaning, make appointments, take them to their appointments. My mom has dementia so baths, dressing, makeup, haircuts. I will continue to do this for as long as I can. I pray for the strength to continue to do so.
I worked in nursing home and bath time was the thing residents hated the most. I saw how they were rushed in the shower chair. Left exposed to cold with wet skin. Just a humiliating experience. I saw what was happening and I took a different approach. Of course I was met with resistance about shower time. What I did is put myself in their position and how I would like to be treated. I gathered more towels than normal. Id start on their head, neck back , chest...wash rinse then I would drape them with a warm large towel to privacy and to keep them warm. Then continue to the lower part of the body. Then did the same when putting on lotion or whatever. Each time I bathed a resident they were happy and said your can bathe me anytime. I was glad I could turn bath time in a good relaxing experience for them.
@Echo 9970 I'm not sure what homes you're referring to but in PA there is a state police background check and an FBI check for all staff working with the elderly, including dietary. If you have a felony you cannot work in ANY care home or provide in home care. I am a CNA and I took a training course to have the title I have. A lot of education went into that and in addition to that I've received on the job training as well. In homes there is the problem of low staffing and that definitely needs to change.
As a 40 year old without children this terrifies me every day. That this is my future. Especially since Alzheimers runs in my family. Y'all have no idea the fear.
Yes, it's always been a crisis. My grandmother worked as a nurse in elderly facilities from the 1940's to the 1960's. She told stories of the most abusive nightmares you can imagine that she witnessed working as a nurse. And she always made it clear that she didn't ever want to be put in a nursing home. She feared that more than anything.
54blueroses yes absolutely correct it would deter the staff abusing the patients. Their only doing this cause the older patients can’t stand up for themselves. I see no difference than that to torture 😢 Oh and self gratification. Absolutely sicking
Screw that I wouldn't ask I'd hide a tiny cam anyways its against the law to record or video people this is why criminals ain't being caught cause they wont make secret recording and videoing allowed
I worked in a memory care where one caregiver, was assigned to care for 12 residence per shift, more if another resident wonders into your area. It gets hard when other workers disappears from their floor, sometimes for hours. Visiting families would be upset wanting this and that, end up to leave your floor and assigned residence to help families where worker is missing. It happens a lot in these facilities. That's when work gets hard. Maybe you need help to move a patient and none of other workers do not to help are totally ignore you when asking. (Illegals). Mgmt siding with the lazy and abusive workers, they lie and partners in crime defends each other. Pays are low and sometimes expected to give up your life and be waiting by a phone at the request of facilities.
@@elouiseking5297 it's a struggle to be a good nurse, when all you're trying to do is not get sued or fired while trying to maintain your sanity. Stay strong..... and leave! Before you lose your mind or license.
In the US my mother went to a "rehabilitation home" after a major stroke. The day she arrived, they were trying to make her get up. ( mind you after this her neurologist found she wouldn't ever be able to walk, she's in a wheel chair and can't even balance herself sitting up). My mother still was trying to talk as clearly as she could, & was telling staff, "I can't, I can't" the staff told her she was being lazy & made her sit in a wheelchair at their desk for over 24 hours. All she could do was cry & ask to go to bed & was told to stop being a baby & when she did what she was told then they would bring her to bed. My brother went to check on her & seen her at the desk in that chair crying. It took her time, but she managed to tell him something & begged for help. We were so heart broken. My brother called our father & asked what he should do. My father told him to get her tf out of there. They tried to tell my brother he couldn't take her. He wheeled her out to the car, picked her up, strapped her in, reclined the seat a little & drove her out. She was already being abused the 1st day. Some of these ppl are sick.
This is why " I will NEVER put my Parents or any family member in a Nursing home"! They do NOT treat them very well at all. These poor Old ppl do NOT deserve 2b treated this way!!
Hospitals are much the same, 12 hour shifts, and short staff forget about a shower for someone who is disabled. One Toronto Hospital, even misplaced my brothers clothing, jeans and windbreaker. I believe stolen, I got staff to check the floor transferred from, called on a couple of occasions, even checked out the lost and found. Nope, nothing found! I spoke to some people, and they said missing clothing was common at that hospital.
Lisa Edgeman aka Awesome Auntie you are right not to put your loved one in a facility. I worked in one for four years, and the things I saw from staff that were above me were unbearable to fathom.
That's my Mother's biggest fear, it's sad that people actually get away with this. I don't care if they're being difficult, there's multiple ways to solve any situation.
So many lies, when I was 19 years old I worked in a nursing home and they gave me 15 clients that I had to get ready, feed, get up, change, do everything. there wasn't enough time and I had too many people, so I never used to take breaks. I used to see some of the other aides who did absolutely nothing for the clients, never washed them up, never got them up, never changed them until it was end of shift, it was horrible. I used to complain and finally that's why I quit I just couldn't stand seeing this.
I was hired to do construction at a nursing home. We informed staff to remove residence from the area due to contaminated air.. not only did they refuse to move them, they would neglect and talk trash to these people.
Please keep your elders home with you. It would be cheaper to hire a private nurse that to stick your beloved’s in a home without knowledge of what happens to them.
Thats why she said to hire a private nurse... you don't have to be home you can work all you want and if you are paying for someone to be in a home than you have money to hire a private nurse... Putting someone in a home isn't free at least in Canada it isn't
Around here (Westchester county, NY), a private nurse costs $275-300 a day if she has a place to sleep and can sleep during the night and $20 an hour if you need real 24/7 care i.e. 2-3 caretakers working in shifts. Assisted living with memory care is 7000-10000 a month, but there are some small residential assisted living places for 3000-5000 a month, so home care isn't cheaper. Also, in some states e.g. NY, Medicaid will cover it once savings run out - pretty quickly at this rate, do your math, but in other states e.g. NJ, Medicaid will not cover round the clock home care. So it's not that easy. Assisted living is private pay only, but it's cheaper than home care if there are savings. Also, in my case, for example, I have my father with Alzheimer's living with me. I took him to live with me after my mom died. For now I manage alone using a local daycare center, a cleaning lady, and an occasional private help for "respite" e.g. to go away for a weekend. But it may get more difficult soon. I am considering a private nurse, but a) I don't have an extra bedroom, only two, one for me and one for my father, so where will she sleep? b) it's difficult for me to imagine a stranger in my home, in my kitchen.
I was very suicidal as a child and staying in an in-patient hospital that had kids aged 10-16. A lot of people there were very mean to us, completely ignoring the fact that we were all mentally unstable CHILDREN. With that said I cant imagine what happens to these ELDERLY people. ugh, watching this made me sick!
I cared for my moms parents and now my mother. For the past 10 or more years. But I told my kids I would never make them care for me. Just help me find a good nursing home. I gave up my whole life taking care of someone. Even took care of my dad when my mom had to work or had to pack a big hole in his foot. She couldn’t do it. But for parents today should never trap there kids to have to take care of me. I feel past generations were selfish in thinking it was there kids job to care for them. For they have families and a life to live. I didn’t have kids to do my work growing up or to care for me when I’m old and can’t do for myself. Not that I don’t have awesome kids. Cause they said we will take care of you mom. And I said oh no you won’t. Your going to enjoy your life and not be burden with me. I love caring for everyone. But that is who I am. I just don’t feel it’s right to make them feel they have to do it. Like I was made to feel. But God bless everyone who takes care of there parents or grandparents. For you all are living angels.
THIS is EXACTLY why I quit nursing... It's just too much... 37 residents to 3 CNAs- that's unacceptable for the residents AND the staff... Sickening how anyone can harm a helpless little old person... Even when they're demented and aggressive, you NEVER retaliate.... I'll NEVER put my parents in one of those horror houses...
Megix Cosmix you know you can work elsewhere while being a nurse right? Hospitals, home care, schools, traveling, primary care...it’s not only nursing homes.
Sara CL I know. I was referring more to the gross Injustice within the health"care" business... This kind of thing happens in most facilities, not specifically these incidents, but situations similar to it... I've found that putting makeup on cadavers is far less stressful and so I took to being a mortician 🙂
Megix Cosmix oh my gosh!! Good for you!! I don’t think I could do that job 😂 but yes I do agree with you! There are many injustices within every healthcare facility, I guess I commented because I had hoped you didn’t leave nursing solely because of this
Yes I work in EMS and the SNFs are understaffed and underpaid. We get called hundreds of times to those places and the Nursing staff leaves it up to the EMS and hospitals because the cannot handle those who have bad behaviors. It's worse than a psychiatric hospital it's sad. I worked as a CNA and I saw my nurse telling me to answer call lights when I had baths to do. And the nurse was sitting at the desk charting. Is charting more important than toileting or maybe dealing with an medical emergency. Long-term care is rising and going to overpopulate the society.
I looked after my elderly mother who had dementia. Were it not for me, she would've been sent to a nursing home. She was in her own home till the day she died. I'd happily do it all over again. After all the sacrifices she made for us, it was the least I could do.
Did anybody notice elderly woman was outside got stuck by flower pot and they didn’t knoticed that she is outside freezing and cold to stay outside that long 🥶
Nice you did that. That's how it should be or state agencies to put more chore workers in the homes of elderly to run errands ect. My mom is aging at 80. She never ever wants to be ripped from her home and put in one of these nursing homes and neither do I!!! I've heard and seen to many horror stories! It's a prison in my eyes!!especially for the poor!! And I've seen it for myself they sedate the elderly all day,!!
I'm so sorry for all the elderly in such places.Lord Jesus please protect the innocent and those in need, the babies, the children and the precious elderly. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Nicoletta Ciccone It may seem that all feel that way, but I don't feel that way. Also sometimes there are conditions that make it impossible to keep them at home.
I'm a nurse thts been in ltc as well and.....I never last longer than 3 months because of the way the facility treats it's staff and residents... it's bad. I vowed to never work in another ltc facility ever again and it's sad. I would be punished for taking a longer time to care for the 35 plus pts tht I had....the "limit" was 1 hour.....
My friend did laundry for a small nursing home in our old neighborhood, I went with her to help many times. One time I grabbed a few grapes from my lunch, a beautiful woman (25-30) in a wheelchair asked me for some, I gave them to her; she was so grateful, said she'd had no fresh fruits or veg's. in 2 years! I gave her my whole bag when I left, then asked what her faves were; she said those sweet red grapes, just like I'd given her, but any berries. My fave food is berries too I told her. When we brought back clean laundry & picked up more next week, I brought her a huge bag of red grapes, as well as bananas, red & green apples (& in-betweens), pears, cherries & a canister of mixed nuts; the look on her face was such a Blessing, & when she sobbed I couldn't help but break down & cry with her. I brought her 'goodies' 1-2 times a month for a couple of years, until they closed the place down; she went to a place far away, but I'll never forget her!! Oh she was such a sweet girl, SHE SHARED ALL I GAVE HER WITH OTHER PATIENTS THERE! The place wasn't bad, they were treated very well, but it just costs so much for some of these little (about 12 patients) homes to make it, when Social Security is so little for the demands!! I don't have much (disabled & living with my daughter & her family now); but with 3 terminal illnesses, I'm VERY GRATEFUL to have a family that loves & WANTS to care for me to the end!!!! Her name is Lisa, & I miss her.
Well, I am sure you thought you were doing a nice thing. But, unless you know the resident, you should not be giving them food. Some are on a restricted diet for various reasons, renal, diabetes, allergies, choke risk etc. Things you may not know, putting them at risk. Also, MHLTC do monitor the diets in LTC and fruit is provided. Some residents may say they have not had any but do.
Cheryl Pemberton - What a wonderful story! In a simple gesture of kindness, you gave Lisa JOY! Too many people today think that they have to do big things to make a difference. You're an angel!
I worked in a nursing home a long time ago. A lot of the residents are nice while the rest are mean. The ones who are mean to me or try to hit me I hold my hands up and I speak slowly and say " I have to clean you up. We must make you beautiful/handsome. I know you may be on pain and I'm sorry for that. I'll try to be gentle but please dont hit me. How about I sing to you? Would that help? What is your favorite song? Can you sing it to me I would so love to hear it." Or " it's time to eat/take your meds. I know you dont like it but I want you to be strong and healthy. How about we eat outside in the sunshine? I will see if that's allowed. How about I read to you? What's your favorite book? I know your having a bad day. How can we change that? Sometimes they dont talk back, but that doesn't stop me from talking. Even if I couldn't remember their names I still called them beautiful and handsome. It made them smile. I was the youngest worker there but a lot of the veteran workers picked up my method and gave it a try. Residents and staff were happy. I was sad when a fire took that place out but happy that no lives were lost. If you hate the job then quit.
Sounds like you were dealing with adult babies. The elderly can be fussy at times, and also seem to be entitled (cause of their old age (aka I'm older & I should be respected) and their savings with which they pay for the services).
Nope. They would hire more but there's no magical machine that pumps out trained nurses who are willing to work with the old and dying on a 24/7 basis. There's a massive labor shortage.
he biggest problem here, is that these homes, and the government agencies that are supposed to be regulating, and making sure this sort of garbage doesn't happen, is almost 100% managed, and staffed by women! I don't care who thinks that's a bad thing to say! It's the truth, it's a fact, and political correctness has no place in this discussion!!! This same behavior takes place in any setting when there is an all female staff. They are very particular about their "pecking order", and the atmosphere is extremely "clicky"! Most of the women at the top of these pecking orders, focus most of their effort maintaining those positions, and they put in just enough into their actual job,to get by without raising any concerns, and the rest of the time is gossip, rumors, backstabbing Facebook, and POF! Medical clinics are really bad for this, but at least they have doctors around all time, that are usually part owners, or partners in the office. The worst part of it is, the entire system, is almost impossible to be fired from! It's one big swamp of corruption, and deception and they have learned not to eat each other, but rather watch out, and protect one another, and they're set for life! The ones that don't "fit their desired profile", are pushed out quickly, so if anyone complains and tries to blow the whistle on them, they, simply say they're just disgruntled former employees that had to be let go for whatever reason, and they just want to get even with someone for being fired. It's a simple, but very effective system.
It's very sad to know that seniors are living like this. I have seen my 98 years old mother treated badly by caregiver. She didn't want to complain because of fear. I am so sorry that we have to send our loved ones to care homes.
I was a nurse working in Florida. This is what nursing is like. The hospital actually sends nurses home on the basis of how many patients they have on the floor. However we get admissions coming in 24 hours a day. We the nurses are running to just finish giving medication and getting documentation done. You complain and they tell you the problem is you. I have told the patients to complain about the lack of help in hopes that something will change. I saw them drug up a patient so much he could not eat on his own. So they implanted a feeding tube. I even documented that if I hold off on psychiatric medication patient was able to eat himself and appropriately swallow his food. Other nurses did not want to to deal with him. They medicated him and the tube was placed. This patient was not underweight. He had been eating fine until they started medicating him. The family did not understand the circumstances. The doctor could only go by what the other nurses documented. No one seemed to care but me. Not much more I could do. They did not assign me to the patient after I said something. Again so busy on the floor and so much more to worry about. The medical field is ruled by money not care. It is really sick.
I'm proud of being Filipino because we take good care of our parents especially when they are old. We have to remember that it's time for us to payback their sacrifices
Lmfaooo here comes the whole "I'm from XYZ and we love and CARE for our parents, beCAUSE UNLIKE THE REST OF YOU PEOPLE YOU GUYS FROM EVERY OTHER COUNTRY OBVIOUSLY DOESNT CARE ABOUT THEIR OWN FAMILY !!!!" Lmfao circlejerking.
This has been a problem for a LONG LONG TIME. This is normal for care facilities. I worked as a CNA for 7 years in the early 90’s and saw TONS of neglect. All I can say is if you have a loved one in a nursing home or a similar facility, BE THERE for them. The people with the strongest family presence had the best care. The staff feared losing their medical or care license and or being fired. If the staff knew that family would show up on a regular basis, that patient was treated A LOT BETTER. And a good way to determine the quality of care there is THE SMELL. So many of the places I worked smelled like urine SO BAD. Also, walk the facility, look around. Observe the staff. Show up unexpectedly, look up the reviews. But the biggest thing is the smell. The smell will give it away every time.
@Winter Nunya, There's too many 'dysfunctional families' who frankly don't give a rat's behind about a family member who is now medically vulnerable. Higher ups should just clamp down on these crimes that's being committed! We can talk to some families until we're blue in the face. And, it's also so many honest reasons that some families simply need emotional, and financial support to get the proper care for their loved ones. You're a CNA and I truly believe you understand my reply for I, myself even thru the personal pain I've endured, will give the next carer I get a chance. And, if I find out that carer is kind and compassionate, I treat that carer with the UTMOST RESPECT & LOVE! Good people are a RARITY. That's why they just need to come down on those who are only there for the money and are neglecting/abusing patients.
So very true. My grandmother had to be put in a facility. We were there every day. We showed up at all times. We were respectful of staff but they knew any of us could pop up at any time. She and her roommate were treated exceedingly well. Their room was spotless and the staff was always nice. Nursing home are extremely understaffed. It’s a for profit system and the nursing home try to squeeze as much profit out of the residents and staff by giving as little as possible.
Many people think this. But sometimes people end up needing professional medical care around the clock. Even something as trivial as IV medications long term may require someone to be there because Medicare doesn't pay for IV meds administration at home. This is silly, they kept my late mother in a very expensive hospital for 3 weeks when she needed antibiotics. They wanted to discharge her home and have a visiting nurse come and administer medications which is a whole lot cheaper than the hospital, but Medicare doesn't pay for it, so they paid more for the hospital. Or they can become bed bound - unable to get up and needing a special bed and be turned several times a day to avoid bed sores. Dementia is a special hell on earth. Initially, it's doable - I've been caring for my father with Alzheimer's for 2 years now, but at some point they can become a danger to themselves and you.
I used to say that, till I blew out 3 discs in my neck. Had to have a steel plate put in, to hold everything together. Took a year before I was able to lift more than 20 lbs. Still can't lift 40. Never will be able to again. So if I can't lift her, shall I let her lay there? How is that better than a nursing home? If you have no choice, put them there, then spend your days there with them. Let the staff take care of their major needs, and you take care of the little things.
Yep. A couple times a week, a "caregiver" would stop by, (paid by medicare and her supplemental) and check her vitals. Otherwise, I'd have had to lose the shelter over our heads, to pay for an agency. You gotta be filthy stinking rich to afford even part time care. I tried to find any means to get help. It wasn't there.
I was a caregiver to my dad for 8 years until he passed away in January 2023. He was never in a nursing home. I told my mom, who is 86, that I will never put her in a nursing home. This video is why.
The thing about these “investigations” is that they conveniently ignore the role of corporate greed and poor management. Most of these PSW’s are extremely overworked, underpaid, over-stressed, and short staffed. I worked as a PSW in a nursing home for a year before running away. We had 15-20 patients on any given day and NEVER had time to perform the care we were meant to provide. It was not only terrible for the patients, but also for the workers. Corporate greed is why these incidents are on the rise. They treat their employees like garbage and treat the residents like numbers. Go after the management and go after the corporations that create these environments as well as holding employees accountable. This faux “hero” shock video does absolutely nothing but scape goat the problem on the staff whom have zero control over the atmosphere they work in.

As a nurse I've had several residents that were placed in the nursing home by Adult Protective Services because their family had abused and neglected them
Because the state is to lazy and greedy not to give home care for alot of us,,,!! No advocates and the states kidnap elderly through the doctors word!! The state litterly kidnaps elderly and I've witnessed it and then because they are poor the adult protective services from the states put them in the worst nursing homes ever!! Run down crazy people walking in hallways! The workers were making my neighbor take pills she never heard of! And they did not want her having a phone. This could and does happen alot to the poor!!
As a caregiver, I loved my residents. They were like my family. I also did homehealth and a loved taking care of my client. Why would people get into work like that if they don't treat the elderly with respect and compassion!
The first one you see is two elderly individuals. This happens a lot unfortunately. Having worked in a nursing home. People with dementia will think that someone is in their house and attack them. Sometimes it's us, and sometimes it's other residents.
molly mojave for real! She couldve stopped everything including the chair from being thrown on the guy in the first place. She stood there and let it happen!
This is the same for the special education department and for group homes. Nobody wants to work in them because of the low wages, under-appreciation, and often chaotic environment. The disabled population in the world is abused more than any other group because nobody cares for them and it's never reported.
Same in Germany .. I am Pflegehelfer it means caregiver helper . Currently jobless nd looking for job applied got 3 interviews and I was offered 1200€ , 1265 € and 3rd place offered me 1188€ ... With allot of experience education still these r the salaries .. I have experience of having 15 resident's nd I alone ... There r many people's who wana work but the these residents don't hire many people's. They want less workers to do their jobs for many residents so these resident's get much profit ...
@@Amoeba24 ---> You hit the nail on the head... minimizing expenses (including wages), while maximizing profits... We live in a Greed-driven world... Sad, very Sad... 😢
Well, there are 2...a Nurse with 10+ residents, who meds can be from 7-40+ (and all you have to check and double check and know or research prior administration, with assessments before and after) and a tech 10+ residents...at NIGHT time, that is the fun part - HALF THE STAFF IF NOT TRIPLE OF THE DAY STAFF (ex. day time tech has 15 residents, moderate-total care, night time tech has 30-45)... depending on the facility designed ratios and funds available. Nursing homes are extremely underfunded and in high demand of trained staff... you would think that paying THAT much money would guarantee a more frequent interactions with the residents, however, there are no ratios and staff just gets overworked, exhausted, underpaid, lots of injuries in staff, with that increases the risk of injuries and safety for a resident, supplies, etc. etc. etc...it's a lot of factors and they are not properly addressed, I assume.. however, violence against a resident is UNACCEPTABLE and should always be reported if suspected for investigation. Until there is a law with reasonable ratios, trained staffing, and proper funds, there is little nursing homes can do with what they have available...it is quiet sad, in truth..
2000 a month? Where did you find such a place. Where I live it's more like 14,000 a month for a nursing home. Assisted living with memory care is a little cheaper, I could probably find $8000-10000 a month; some residential assisted living places are 3000-5000, but they would only take people who can still walk and feed themselves. Home care would run you 10,000 a month.
No it's not as simple as that..because that is simpleton and deflection. One, most people with elderly parents STILL have to work to make it, last I checked. Two, some people require 24/7 care and are severely disabled thus there are many families that can't provide complex care at home. Three: Some people have no family at all. Four: I personally know some people that are in a nursing home with their elderly parents. I could go on with plenty of examples as to reasons why care from adult children isn't possible in many cases...but you get the point. And the point not to skirt around the real issue and blame the family (which is pathetic) is to get those nursing homes cleaned up and providing adequate health care giving..that's the REAL problem.
@@missyv8900 thank you! This ridiculously ignorant idea that everyone should simply care for their elderly loved ones at home infuriates me. My family was blessed to be able to do it but not everyone can and it's so heartless to guilt people about this.
Actually sometimes their parents need some things that the kids don't have the time and recourses for so they have to put them in special care but any good kid would visit their parent when they can
My father is a 73 year old man, veteran from his years of service in the navy, he worked with the radars on his ships. He is now a victum of strokes that paralysed him on the left side of his body, and it messed up his memory also. His insurance will pay for him to stay in a nursing home facility, but I said NO WAY!!! He is at home with me and i take care of him! I will take care of him untill the day our Lord calls him to go home. There is no way I would ever allow him to be a victum in a nursing home. I trust none of them! My mother is 65 and i will do the same for her when and if the time comes. Its hard, its sad, its exhausting at times.... But I know they have felt the same way at times when raising myself and my sisters!!! I am so happy to be able to take care of them and im blessed to have them. Im 36 years old and i am able to live in THIER HOME, so thier still at thier home and didnt have to leave thier home.... I feel lucky and blessed that finacially between the 4 of us, they are taken care of, and they never HAVE to go somewhere, like a nursing home. When i say my prayers i thank God that they are able to stay at thier home and they go home to God from Thier home. I feel sorry for the familys that are in situations where thier loved ones have to go to a nursing home for some reason. I feel blessed that i will never have to worry about what could possibly happen. My parents raised me, was there when i needed them, and im blessed to be able to take care of my parents, and be here when they need me. These places are horrible!!! They need more and better people working in them, and doctors that wont just make them all f'ed up on phych meds like thier zombies! Then allow them to be abused. Nursing homes need more, and better rules and laws. Then they need to follow up and inforce those laws! Untill there is MAJOR change, I feel sorry for anyone who has to go there for whatever reason.
Another big reason for rising resident on resident violence is that we now have mental health patients over 65 being put into long term care. Psws are not trained in mental health. It is being done because long term care is cheaper. This is so wrong on many levels. What did they think would happen when you put mental health patients with patients with dementia?
Linda Straiko the home I lived is LTC it had severely disabled young adults (me being 18) they had many many schizophrenics ,dementia sufferers , morbidly obese patients who are bed bound They used to have different facilities for all these different groups of people now we are all lumped in together and no one is trained how to deal with this dynamic
Dakota Mathews. You are so right about this. An 18 year old does not belong with the elderly who suffer from dementia etc. A young person should be in a smaller group home getting the proper help to live as a young person. Thank you for your comment. It needs to be out there letting people know what the gov is doing.
Dakota Mathews I worked in a home similar to the one you speak of..you are right. It is not ideal. The staff for the most part were excellent but we witnessed resident on resident abuse.
Okay in Oklahoma what it is? The front of a nursing home is staffed more for a better view and the back is not so now since the latest loss of resident we have lost help but we can budget a new shower but not help it’s sad
It is honestly a SHAME how these so called care givers treat the elderly!!!! If ANYONE treated my mother like that, I'd be in jail!! I don't have that to worry about because my brothers and my sister make sure that our mother is taken care of and she will NEVER go into a nursing home! She raised us and took very good care of us, so we will do the same for her. As long as I have a home, she does too. Simply heart breaking and brought tears to my eyes to see the abuse here!!!
MawMaw 13...very nice post. And if anyone treated one of my parents like that, if they were in a nursing home, I would most definitely take involving the law.
My mother took care of her grandmother (my great-grandmother) at home for this very reason. She hired a caretaker to come to the house and look after her while she was at work and then when she came home she'd take over. I was around 6~8 years old during this time. I helped sometimes too, by helping my great-grandma get dressed or putting her favorite tv show on. She was well taken care of until she passed away. I will do the same for my mother when she gets up in age.
what? they got fired , what the heck is that they should go the jail , when someone abuse achild we all shout out but with elders those workers just got fired seriously this is so sad
Most of the qualified health worker have been long gone, what's left are the incompetent and under qualified staff ( these are the very people that hurt the elderly residents ). A prudent nurse or health care worker will not subject themselves in any form of abuse and I am sure they are no longer or soon will no longer be part of the flawed system.
I love my job working with elderly but we are so under staffed that we can't give them the care we want. There is not enough time. We are sometimes given minutes to do a bath which is hard to do with slow moving residents, we are supposed to check on them every hour but now it's impossible to do that with staff we have.
Gabby Girl You are absolutely right. I worked in a nursing home and it broke my heart that I didn't have time to even have a conversation with a lonely resident because I had to move on to the next resident. The residents don't feel like human beings..the staff don't feel like human beings. That leads to terrible things.
In my opinion the reason for Nurseing home problems boils down to money. When you get rid of of 5 employees to save money even the most caring employees cannot keep up and care levels seem to drop. Unfortunately , There are facilities that go by the dollars and do not care about patients/Residents. Before you put a family member in one of these places go talk to Residents there and families. You will get better information and be able to make the right choice
Yes and that's why there's such a large turnover rate. Ive worked in a nursing home for 10 years. The last 3 years me and a guy that started here a year after me are the only ones left. They cut a position so we do 2 jobs in 1 and we always clock out an hour after our scheduled shift because it's so much work.
It is about making money.....believe me.i went to the nursing home to care for my mother 1 or 2 days a week. my mom was in one for 5 years. She had 7 children .the workers knew we were coming to see about Mom . They knew we were coming every day . They did Not know when or what time . she had to be ready to be seen all the time..but we were very friendly to staff and it worked. They had to call us if she fell no matter what time of the day or night. Some of patients familys never came. We felt very sorry for them. But at night they didnt did not have enough staff. One person for 15 patients....absurd..
I wouldn't dream of putting a loved one there. It's horrific! Hell, I'm never going to a place like that. Nobody should work hard their whole life only to have that to look forward to in their golden years. That's a huge injustice!
Well if you pay a higher for people with more experienced, like nannies, maids, etc you would more likely get a better caregiver. And homecare is 10x better according to so clients.
There is no excuse to pay low wages that lead to health problems and disability. Neglecting caregivers with substandard means for a healthy and happy life and pretending that it has nothing to do with the abuse is like saying the reduction of antipsychotics had nothing to do with the incidence of abuse. Its just like the illegal immigration phenomenon... you pay a living wage and people will do the labor done by immigrants. People care: enough to point the finger and blame People don’t care: enough to pay or perform care themselves But lets pretend like its your duty to be perfect under terrible conditions both at work and home and guilt and punish people into submission. Hows this strategy been working?
Its a choice to stay and work where your not happy!! Go get a job that makes you happy! Dont take your miserable life frustrations out on the innocent old people. Heartless!! My garsh!!
I have been working in long term care since 1978. People with dementia are not mean. They are people. Dont forget to treat each person with respect. Each time you give care, pretend that you are being taped. How would you want to be treated? How would you feel watching yourself later? Treat others the way you wish to be treated.
Some people that were treated rough when they were young is not the people to hire in care because that is all some of them know. The circle will continue. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Im a nursing home caregiver, a cna, yes I’ve def lost my cool in my head, but I don’t hit or yell or cuss, I tell my partner I’m taking a second to step outside and take a breath to collect myself before I renter and are ready to try again, never ever would I think of doing awful things to my people 😢😭
My father at age 94 was bashed by another resident in a home. He was terribly battered and bruised. It broke my heart, as a young man he was as strong as an ox. Sadly we lost him at age 97.
Bobby Shupinski Please, you don’t need to be so ignorant. That’s not going to solve anything, look at the bigger picture. You can’t take care of all these people by yourself, it’s unrealistic and impossible.
This is a problem in the U.S. as well. I had trouble giving all I wanted to for 8 residents. The need is great. We should not have to work hard and with all our hearts to go home feeling guilty AND exhausted !
This is so sad. I'm very close to my Grandma since she lived with us & we took care of her. I can't imagine her living in this homes. Also disgusting that people lack so much compassion towards the elderly.
DesignbyChesa the Families do not care anymore for elderly Parents or Grandparents....hell....they dont have time for them when they are 50 or 60 and in good health....so when they are more elderly and sick they care even less and do not want to be bothered.
I used to work in one of these places and we were insanely under staffed. Most days I would take care of 12-14 people by myself. Almost all of them were in wheelchairs, needed to be spoon fed, and put in a special shower chair. Only a few of them have hoyer lifts. So I'm not surpised that there is a lot of undercare. Especially since you get minimum wage, no benefits, and little to no support from your managers.
The authority only see the abuse of the elderly but not seen the abuse of the PSW endure everyday ,,, consequently abuse by under staffing and low wage comes in a full circle and authority/ social media only sees and point the blame the one who actually deliver the care --- so IRONIC !!!
Lol, Carm. Youre saying you worked with over 14 residents alone. So you toileted every two hours, got them to meals, and got them up/put into bed ? Do you not see the problem with this? Less than 20min per patient with charting... Glad youre finding time to brag and pretend your job is harder. lol
Get your grandmother's medical records from this facility to a lawyer and sue this place for neglect. It's not only for your grandmother justice and for your loss and suffering but justice for other people that are being neglected in this facility.
this makes me so grateful that my aunt works in the facility where my grandmother stays. Everyone there is so kind. Whoever allows this to happen should be put in jail. what horrible treatment of innocent lives
As a former CNA the facilities that I worked at we were understaffed 10 months out of the year. The month we were adequately staffed was the month the state surveyor was due to walk through.
I live in the US and this is happening here too. My beloved Grandmother had to enter a care home due to dementia when she was 82. While in their care she broke both of her hips. The first one was taken care of quickly but the second brake happened during the graveyard shift on the weekend when there was NO head nurse on duty, she was on call only. My grandmother fell out of bed and broke her hip. They just picked her up and put her back in bed as she cried and cried from the pain. The worker on duty did call the head nurse at home and she was told to do nothing until monday. She suffered almost 3 days before she saw a medical doctor and was treated. The head nurse told me that my grandmother was just having a "Crying jag" what ever the hell that is. I almost took that place apart with my bare hands! I did get the head nurse and the director fired but that did not help my grandmother, he hip was still broken and she was still in pain. Keep your loved ones at home as long as you can! It is cheaper in the long run to pay someone to come to your home and care for your loved ones. My heart goes out to all these poor innocent people, and I cried pretty hard while watching this. As far as justice goes, well, lets just hope that one day some of these evil care workers get a good taste of their own medication.
@Bobbo Morgan I used to have a job like that and yes ppl went to jail or prison for this. It was sad because alot of those ppl where young & took their bad day out on the elderly or mentally disabled. Its rare that it will make the news but not rare that its reported. They are looking to shut my old job down because of it.
Uhh welcome to universal healthcare. I bet the U.S. has waaaaaay better nursing homes. Trust if they could have found the nursing homes like this in U.S. this would be set right here in the state. That goodness for private insurance!!!
Its bad here in America too. Ppl keep in mind that the nursing assistant is the back nine of the whole thing without the aids nothing would get done! Aids are treated BAD and so our the residents that live there! Back bone! The nursing assistant's are the back bone!!! You don't even need a high school diploma to work for them.
Our officials are failing. These homes should be monitored. Have unannounced visits.l once a month. Or more often. Jail the abusers. And fine the owners of these homes. Close down abusive homes. Also applies to child care facilities. Our officials earn a salary, but fail to do competent jobs. Horror chambers for the aged. And money hungry people mistreating seniors. NO EXCUSE.
I work with elderly I could never imagine someone treating them poorly. In my eyes they are fragile, and they are like children. I love them. It breaks my heart to know that there are people no sorry I mean monsters out in this world that can do this. I would definitely lose it if I witnessed something like this.
this is why i started working in a senior center. i want them to feel safe and happy. i want to treat them with respect and kindness. they really need it at their age. one of the reasons why i decided to work as a caregiver was because i am aware of how staff treat the residents. i know i’m just one person but i want to be a change. it’s a very hard job. but if you have the strength to be patient and loving, even when they are not the nicest, you can do it. you really just need the heart to do it. if you don’t, forget it.
@@coneyislandqueen8565 I do this work as well! It’s hard work but it in the end it’s worth it! None of this shocks me! Where I live we have a staff to resident ratio but I can have as many as 20 residents by myself! I love working with the elderly! I personally prefer memory care!
What I don't understand is there's not enough money to take care of the old American people . But there's plenty of money to send to other countries and to house all the people ftom other countries that are coming to America . Can someone please explain ?
That doesn’t have to be you. Teach your kids the importance of a parent by setting an example. Teach them that they should be greatful for the love and support they received from you from watching you do the same to your parents. The way we treat our parents is the way our children will treat us. But at the same time you shouldn’t do a good deed just to reap its benefits or to demand the same back. If you do it right your children wouldn’t even consider sending you away. If you don’t have children then your siblings, nieces, nephews, etc are always there. I’m Asian and we follow the “Ohana means family. Family means no one get left behind.” Retirement is when we finally get to take a rest from working for our family to spend more time with them not to be sent away from them.
Money in this country goes to entertainment or sports, or the military, or the greedy wealthy. Money does not go to the elderly, or the sick, or dying.
I have my dad living with and I go see my mom everyday at her house. Bringing food to her. I also help my 70 year aunt who is never married and have no children.
They don't have the proper funds to hire more staff (or a legitimate ratio by law, facility pick and choose their ratios as they feel fit by staff and condition of the residents), nursing homes are often times underfunded, and in poorer areas it's just...it's pretty bad, yup..staff get overworked, exhausted, safety hazards go higher, understaffed most of the time if not all the time, not enough properly trained staff sometimes with special cases or conditions, underpaid, etc. etc. etc...but violence and for someone to actually assault a resident??? no, that is just unacceptable and disgusting, no one deserves to be assaulted or violated. ALWAYS report if you suspect violence against a resident. We love volunteers!!! Volunteers save our world!!! everything volunteers do is so appreciated, truly - whether you sit with a resident to chat for company (they get very lonely) or help select a meal or take them to a chapel (if it's a religious facility and has one) or hair salon or therapy (if facility has one), or whatever else, activities participation (like bingo), bring a pet in, anything - it is all extremely appreciated!! I am always happy to see volunteers and I know my co-workers do as well, because they are always such a huge help!! Thank you for your volunteer work!!
I cared for my darling husband when he was bed bound for the last few years until he passed away at the age of 91. I cared for him alone 24 hrs a day. My family said I should get Social Services to help, but I wanted him to keep control of his life, thankfully mentally OK. The occasional Nurse would come, and were all amazed at the condition of his skin, although he was painfully thin. I used the old fashioned method of prevention of bedsores, and thank goodness my way proved the best! I turned him every 2 hours through out the night, he was back to sleep before I was even back in bed, I did everything I could to keep him comfortable, and eventually he just slipped away. He had appeared perfectly happy, said he would have a nap, and he just went to sleep.
THIS is why I quit my job to stay home full time...to take care of my father so that THIS will not happen. I'll be damned if anybody is going to neglect my loved one.
I think they should make a law,, make elder abuse be side by side with child abuse and a criminal record should stick like a rapist, be on a list, #childandelderabuse
In the US if you abuse a resident ur name is put on a registry and if u try to apply for any type of job in the health care system even housekeeping ot cooking you cannot because ate on the anuse registry. I used to be a director of nursing now retired after 28 yrs in LTC.
This. THIS is why I dropped out of college to be a full-time carer for my elderly grandma when she got sick
I almost dropped out of high school (so close) to care for my late grandparents
And that is why you're a beautiful person. Which is way more important at the end of life than anything else.

I think people forget that the elderly needs our help and compassion. They are a generation that cared for us and soon it will be our turn to take their place.
I hope the nurses doing these disgusting acts realise their turn is comming around the corner
Chantia Whissell true that😡
The elderly should have more value in our western society - but it seems like people forget that our elders can teach us and guide us and deserve admiration for their experience. I agree.
Snot Brains i don't know you,
i will do everything to defend you all😞
No they don’t, if someone kills an old person it shouldn’t be murder, they’re wastes of life
The “caregiver” punching the elderly man should’ve been arrested. Not just fired, but arrested!
I agree 💯 percent.
Exactly. That was a crime. If it was committed against anybody else outside of a nursing home that person would have been arrested. That just goes to show you there is discrimination against the elderly. disgusting.
I have seen stuff that would shock you.
These aged care workers are extremely heartless
Agree
It should be MANDATORY to have cameras in residents rooms
If I had someone in care today, I’d have my own hidden camera installed.
I agree.
That poor elderly woman did stuck on the flower pot and maybe they forgot to bring her inside because they didn’t see that elderly woman outside that is really freezing and cold outside in the first place 😳😵

that's true. not easy.
At least there's still some hope left in humanity. Well done.
princessa k yes take them and love on them u won’t b sorry.
Then of course, the added costs of them living there.
oh noooo... dont u get it. we allllll will be old soon. lets treat elders with respect. please
I respect my elders but I'm not going to lie they're a handful. People in this video should be in jail or fired if they can't handle this.
I agree with you I work in one that also does rehab some of the things that I see is enough to make one person cry it’s that bad there!

Very nice of you

God bless you
The right way to take care of them
The patient did not grow up with showers. They are afraid of the hard water. A sponge bath is enough every 2 days unless incontinent.
Bless your heart. May many others follow your lead!
I truly will all who care for others could have your heart of compassion and practical insight into good care!
Not just underpaid, but under trained, not properly vetted, not enough staff... basically greedy abuse of the ones that manage these places
See this what i mean
@Echo 9970 I'm not sure what homes you're referring to but in PA there is a state police background check and an FBI check for all staff working with the elderly, including dietary. If you have a felony you cannot work in ANY care home or provide in home care. I am a CNA and I took a training course to have the title I have. A lot of education went into that and in addition to that I've received on the job training as well. In homes there is the problem of low staffing and that definitely needs to change.
You can't train humanity no matter how many ppl there is or not u treat ppl how u want be treated n do ur best
Undertrained smh
Couldn't say it any better, that's exactly the nursing home I work at.

Yep probably was alot of racism as well.
The 1940s and 50s were different time you had war and rationing.. and back then people do not live long like they do today..
They need to install cameras in all the bedrooms, with family permission of course.
54blueroses yes absolutely correct it would deter the staff abusing the patients.
Their only doing this cause the older patients can’t stand up for themselves.
I see no difference than that to torture 😢
Oh and self gratification.
Absolutely sicking
And the elderly's permission too.

Most families install their own cameras anyway.
Screw that I wouldn't ask I'd hide a tiny cam anyways its against the law to record or video people this is why criminals ain't being caught cause they wont make secret recording and videoing allowed
Why are places ever notified beforehand that they're getting an inspection? They should have NO time to prepare! All inspections should be a surprise!
Quite often, facilities PAY the inspectors a bribe to call them a few days ahead of an inspection. It's so crooked.
My son was an inspector, and that is simple not true!
shell bell it is. Trust me.
Maybe not with your son, but 99.9% of all people have a price. That 1% is NOT the elite 1%, either.
I completely agree!!
40 residents to one 1 nurse!
Unsafe staffing!
I quit a facility 60 residents 1 nurse. Dementia and combative
How about 40 nurses to one resident??? No...not that far...might cut into their goddam profits, here 1to1 and you never see the majority of them.
I'm living in a place right now that's 40-1 during the day and 60-1 at night. No joke.

So sad 😢

Thats why she said to hire a private nurse... you don't have to be home you can work all you want and if you are paying for someone to be in a home than you have money to hire a private nurse... Putting someone in a home isn't free at least in Canada it isn't
Not for some. The lady that hit that man well that's what I mean. Family can't handle it. State hospital if you do hit in a nursing home.
I am considering a private nurse, but a) I don't have an extra bedroom, only two, one for me and one for my father, so where will she sleep? b) it's difficult for me to imagine a stranger in my home, in my kitchen.
jewelmarkess it's cheaper if they sleep. If awake during the night. More money

I don’t like old pepino they needy

Ppl disgust me and more so of those who prey on the weak and helpless. These seniors deserve justice!!!!!
I agree!
HRD 77 off you go then . Get a job in a nursing home and do something about it instead of being upset
yes!!! i wish there was something we could do to stop this... it hurts my heart terribly!
HRD 77 then try to volunteer than shout for justice.. Peace ..
Why you were sickening only, and not taking action to stop it?
I looked after my elderly mother who had dementia. Were it not for me, she would've been sent to a nursing home. She was in her own home till the day she died. I'd happily do it all over again. After all the sacrifices she made for us, it was the least I could do.
Same here; albeit no dementia
Luckily you were able to deal with this but not a lot of people are .

As a nurse with 20 years in long term care this makes me sick. The elderly deserve to cared for and protected.
I agree with you they deserve the up most respect I work in a nursing home sometimes what I see is enough to make you cry it’s that bad
It takes a strong person to do that job.
You're a good person.
This is why I dropped out of nursing school it’s not for me
That is not a human being at all for what caregiver is doing what if that be them and did that
My friend did laundry for a small nursing home in our old neighborhood, I went with her to help many times.
That's so lovely of you to do. Thanks for sharing.

YOU are a good person. Its not easy to care for old & difficult people who has no relations to you.

I wish there were more good people like you in these places.
Sounds like you were dealing with adult babies. The elderly can be fussy at times, and also seem to be entitled (cause of their old age (aka I'm older & I should be respected) and their savings with which they pay for the services).

THESE NURSING HOMES JUST DO NOT HIRE ENOUGH STAFF TO CARE FOR THESE PEOPLE PROPERLY. IT IS ALL ABOUT PROFIT.
Nope. They would hire more but there's no magical machine that pumps out trained nurses who are willing to work with the old and dying on a 24/7 basis. There's a massive labor shortage.
carlos font the staff gets paid nothing .
It’s bigger than staffing. The majority of the staff are negligent and lack compassion 💯
carlos font: That and maybe better pay and screening of potential employees.
he biggest problem here, is that these homes, and the government agencies that are supposed to be regulating, and making sure this sort of garbage doesn't happen, is almost 100% managed, and staffed by women!
There are state agencies that contract non profits to help but corrupt and big secrets of not getting it out to us,!!!

Well said
I remember the smell of urine too!
So right!
I'm getting my mom out immediately!! I'll just take care of her myself!!!
I will never let my parents go to a nursing home
Let the staff take care of their major needs, and you take care of the little things.
itsnotthesamething excuses ...there's agencies that provide caregiver to go to your home
Rrespekt for u

They are understaff because nobody would want to work for this places, low salary for too much work with high risk of injuries.
This is the same for the special education department and for group homes. Nobody wants to work in them because of the low wages, under-appreciation, and often chaotic environment. The disabled population in the world is abused more than any other group because nobody cares for them and it's never reported.

These places charge each resident over $2000 a month and can't even have more than one person watching them?
Adam Cybulsky Lock the owners up.
Until there is a law with reasonable ratios, trained staffing, and proper funds, there is little nursing homes can do with what they have available...it is quiet sad, in truth..
way more in Chicago as much as 12k month
METALMAN4Wii ,try 14 thousand
2000 a month? Where did you find such a place. Where I live it's more like 14,000 a month for a nursing home. Assisted living with memory care is a little cheaper, I could probably find $8000-10000 a month; some residential assisted living places are 3000-5000, but they would only take people who can still walk and feed themselves. Home care would run you 10,000 a month.
Look after parents the way they looked after you. Simple as that.
Deqa Abdi then my parents would be beaten every single day while I drank myself into a rage!

So ur not married n don't have kids? Good for you, in glad your in a position to care for them. Not everyone is though
You are a wonder daughter. Most selfish Americans don’t care. I don’t care if you have a wife or husband or 10 kids you take care of your parents!!!!
Another big reason for rising resident on resident violence is that we now have mental health patients over 65 being put into long term care. Psws are not trained in mental health. It is being done because long term care is cheaper. This is so wrong on many levels. What did they think would happen when you put mental health patients with patients with dementia?
Linda Straiko the home I lived is LTC it had severely disabled young adults (me being 18) they had many many schizophrenics ,dementia sufferers , morbidly obese patients who are bed bound
They used to have different facilities for all these different groups of people now we are all lumped in together and no one is trained how to deal with this dynamic
Thanks. For your uplifting words I was about to do that SIN
Amen
You have great thinking and it's great to know there are kind people as yourself in this world. God bless you.
@@harpalkaur4512 thank you so much for your kindness 🤗❤️💖God bless you✝🙏♥️😄💕❤️💖
MawMaw 13...very nice post.
A lot of long term care companies just fire the workers who are involved because they dont want their company to be drag in lawsuits
Hopefully, their licenses were annulled. Some places don't even report the person to the state although they fired them
naomi tay I don't know about the other people fired , but the Asian guy was charged being that he was physically abusing the elderly man on camera
I say if you don't like your job find a next job you like and stop hurting elderly people.
Gabby Girl
You are absolutely right.
I worked in a nursing home and it broke my heart that I didn't have time to even have a conversation with a lonely resident because I had to move on to the next resident. The residents don't feel like human beings..the staff don't feel like human beings.
That leads to terrible things.
Lloyd Joseph hhhhhhh
Keep your loved ones with you at all cost 💯
It is about making money.....believe me.i went to the nursing home to care for my mother 1 or 2 days a week. my mom was in one for 5 years. She had 7 children .the workers knew we were coming to see about Mom . They knew we were coming every day . They did Not know when or what time . she had to be ready to be seen all the time..but we were very friendly to staff and it worked. They had to call us if she fell no matter what time of the day or night. Some of patients familys never came. We felt very sorry for them. But at night they didnt did not have enough staff. One person for 15 patients....absurd..
Caregiver is not caregiver at all they abused elderly in the hurtful ways they not supposed to act like that 😤
I wouldn't dream of putting a loved one there. It's horrific! Hell, I'm never going to a place like that. Nobody should work hard their whole life only to have that to look forward to in their golden years. That's a huge injustice!
Low wages is no excuse for abuse, we have choices.
Most people I knew chose the field because the wages are not low, in a union they could not be fired, and there are lots of jobs.
People care: enough to point the finger and blame
People don’t care: enough to pay or perform care themselves
But lets pretend like its your duty to be perfect under terrible conditions both at work and home and guilt and punish people into submission. Hows this strategy been working?
In theory, yes. In practice, no.
Absolutely, you don’t like the job or pay, quit.
Yah, ok....I don't know where you work....They aren't nice like you say. They get mad at other residents and aides all the time
Some people that were treated rough when they were young is not the people to hire in care because that is all some of them know. The circle will continue. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Evelyn Howe....So true!
Shouldn't have to pretend someone is watching.. besides God is always watching and everyone will have to answer to what they do.
Treat them together with your HEART!
Im a nursing home caregiver, a cna, yes I’ve def lost my cool in my head, but I don’t hit or yell or cuss, I tell my partner I’m taking a second to step outside and take a breath to collect myself before I renter and are ready to try again, never ever would I think of doing awful things to my people 😢😭
When the guy was punching the elderly man with dementia I cried hard
Tarah TaylorBs those people are heartless, quit and leave the elderly alone if you don’t like the job
I teared up when the other man broke his hip, and the nurse just left him there. And let everything happen! This is not okay.
My father at age 94 was bashed by another resident in a home. He was terribly battered and bruised. It broke my heart, as a young man he was as strong as an ox.
Sadly we lost him at age 97.
MJ M I'm sorry....
I am so sorry for your loss really it breaks my ❤
Now my biggest fear is growing old.
MJ M I'm so sorry. He's strong as an ox again now in heaven, that's a promise 💪
MJ M I'm sorry stay strong
I currcurrently work in a nursing home. It's sad. CNAS always working under stuffed. 1 CNA to 24 residents. No pay raise. It's a sorry sight.
Nancy GodsOwn well the CEOs looked overstuffed.
happens in assisted living too - i live in one
Bobby Shupinski
Please, you don’t need to be so ignorant.
That’s not going to solve anything, look at the bigger picture.
You can’t take care of all these people by yourself, it’s unrealistic and impossible.
Just Quit, if you are not comfortable with your job
Anthony Fig Bobby Shupinski We need more people like the OP working in these places, people who care.
It's disgusting that people lack so much compassion IN GENERAL.
Miss
Kiu
Lol, Carm. Youre saying you worked with over 14 residents alone. So you toileted every two hours, got them to meals, and got them up/put into bed ? Do you not see the problem with this? Less than 20min per patient with charting... Glad youre finding time to brag and pretend your job is harder. lol
MissBrri definitely, you're expected to care for too many, and your charge nurse is a lazy good for nothing
My grandmother passed due to neglect in a care home. This issue is pervasive and needs to be addressed to prevent more unnecessary deaths.
I’m sorry that happened to your grandmother may she RIP and may all the nurses that mistreated her go straight to hell
Get your grandmother's medical records from this facility to a lawyer and sue this place for neglect. It's not only for your grandmother justice and for your loss and suffering but justice for other people that are being neglected in this facility.
Society needs to bring back some old standards like taking care of your parents in their old age in your home with the rest of your family.
They need to treat like this and see how they feel like this and now this is really upset me 😤
whats wrong with your family? can't none of you take care of your elders? dump them on others then blame the system. it's on you
This video really designates to what is going on at regency park senior home in Dalton Georgia
this makes me so grateful that my aunt works in the facility where my grandmother stays. Everyone there is so kind. Whoever allows this to happen should be put in jail. what horrible treatment of innocent lives
Jojo, you're so right! It is CRIME!
It is not worth of putting love one that is elderly inside
This is truly heart breaking. How can you be so cruel and so cold hearted to someone so helpless? This is really hard to watch!
This is so hard to watch! How many of us will grow old and end up in one of these homes? This needs sorted out immediately!!!
This is Canada. Imagine how bad it is here in the USA smh.
USA? oh they will send you to prison fast
About the same everywhere you go
Unfortunately, these "Nursing" homes are centred on the money they can take in the patients are not important. Same all over this world.
Beautiful ,thank God for people like you
They can hit pretty hard .... While fragile they are still tough
this is why i started working in a senior center. i want them to feel safe and happy. i want to treat them with respect and kindness. they really need it at their age. one of the reasons why i decided to work as a caregiver was because i am aware of how staff treat the residents. i know i’m just one person but i want to be a change. it’s a very hard job. but if you have the strength to be patient and loving, even when they are not the nicest, you can do it. you really just need the heart to do it. if you don’t, forget it.
@@coneyislandqueen8565 I do this work as well! It’s hard work but it in the end it’s worth it! None of this shocks me! Where I live we have a staff to resident ratio but I can have as many as 20 residents by myself! I love working with the elderly! I personally prefer memory care!
You clearly didn’t watch the video. The majority of them are being abused by OTHER RESIDENTS.
Isn’t it strange that we have to legislate morality nowadays.
You want Us to Burn People's Houses again because they were accused?
my grandmother is 75 but she's staying home with us. nursing homes are worse than our own home
How bad is ur home??? What r u saying I'd rather u all abuse her rather than stranger's??? No offense but ur comment can be taken very wrong
What I don't understand is there's not enough money to take care of the old American people . But there's plenty of money to send to other countries and to house all the people ftom other countries that are coming to America . Can someone please explain ?
Absolutely agree.
This is scarry. We are ALL going to get old.......
Not if you plan it out correctly... Or not, sometimes that prevents getting old.
north shore and and ppl will be even more evil by then unfortunately
north shore I’m hanging myself before I get to an aged care facility
OmniscientWarrior r u serious
That doesn’t have to be you. Teach your kids the importance of a parent by setting an example. Teach them that they should be greatful for the love and support they received from you from watching you do the same to your parents. The way we treat our parents is the way our children will treat us. But at the same time you shouldn’t do a good deed just to reap its benefits or to demand the same back. If you do it right your children wouldn’t even consider sending you away. If you don’t have children then your siblings, nieces, nephews, etc are always there.
I’m Asian and we follow the “Ohana means family. Family means no one get left behind.”
Retirement is when we finally get to take a rest from working for our family to spend more time with them not to be sent away from them.
Money in this country goes to entertainment or sports, or the military, or the greedy wealthy. Money does not go to the elderly, or the sick, or dying.
money wont fix this issue lol
Scott Saldivar ....You Are Correct.......This is how Societies where "Only the bottom line $$$ matters" Operate, The US is the same or worse..
Ren :3 ...Of course money would fix this, there is a quality care-provider deficit issue...
This is the sad reality of capitalism. Even those who helped defend and build this evil system are in turn discarded and forgotten.

Yes
No enough people on the floor then why not hire more?... Oh no.. They don't wanna pay more I volunteer there I know they usde us too
Mini Tran not most people want to work with the elderly
Mini Tran Because it's a FOR-PROFIT business. Don't like it? Make room in your residence.
Mini Tran ceo wants to make millions of dollars and there didn't have an enough money left.
Thank you for your volunteer work!!
sugartart21 You're a saint hon. We need permanent documented employees for true accountability.
Unfortunately not everyone can just quit their job and keep their homes to be able to do this.
@@resinfingers3896yes, some need the job to take care of them and themselves

christ .R and nurse abuse from residents
In the US if you abuse a resident ur name is put on a registry and if u try to apply for any type of job in the health care system even housekeeping ot cooking you cannot because ate on the anuse registry. I used to be a director of nursing now retired after 28 yrs in LTC.
This is incredibly disturbing and heartbreaking. !!!
Put cameras everywhere, and have them monitored 24/7.
