technocrash09 His Yamaha is a real fully functioning Grand piano, but the sound is coming from external sources. The strings in the piano have microphones above them on a cross bar under the lid. But even then they only account for about 5% of the sound. Elton's piano sound comes from a mixture of Roland And Yamaha piano module voices. That are ran through his piano via MIDI. Since Elton's pianos are Yamaha Disklaviers ( CFllls 9 foot models) they have MIDI capabilities and much much more.

i'm a big fan. saw him do this song at fillmore east 1970ish. the intro sounds like ok backround music only. I like the rest of the song and the power house ending.

I, also, think I like the fact that he doesn't blame the "industry" and try to punish the fans by not allowing this to be LISTENED TO!!! BTW: Fuck the industry!!! They're really helping us all. I'm not a fan of the piano sound he gets now either. It actually has midi triggers that trigger a yamaha piano synth module, and that's about 70% of the sound, with the other 30% being the actual miked piano. Not to mention he uses unbelievably outdated samples. It really cuts through the band, but unfortunately sounds pretty awful, especially solo.
