- Simple Minds at the Isle of Wight Festival on Sunday 23rd June 2024
This is the complete broadcast from Sky Arts on Freeview (720p), however they unfortunately omitted the first 3 songs of the setlist (Waterfront, Love Song, and Once Upon A Time).
The remaining setlist is included, and consists of the following songs:
Someone Somewhere In Summertime
Glittering Prize
Promised You A Miracle
Sanctify Yourself
New Gold Dream (81-82-83-84)
(Followed by Cherisse Osei drum solo)
Don't You (Forget About Me)
Alive And Kicking
Included as part of their highly praised World Tour 2024, they perform effortlessly to the crowd with their familiar hit songs that anyone can easily recognise (and sing along to).
"Simple Minds as the penultimate band on the main stage are no strangers to stadium shows and had the crowd mesmerised as Jim Kerr, Charlie Burchill and band delivered a set of ten songs, each one being a worldwide hit. Kerr is such a fascinating front man who still has that ability to captivate an audience and make them feel like one of the band, joining in on classic tunes such as Promised You A Miracle and Alive and Kicking." - Allan Jones
Jim Kerr - Lead Vocals
Charlie Burchill - Electric Guitar
Ged Grimes - Bass Guitar, Backing Vocals
Gordy Goudie - Guitar. Backing Vocals
Sarah Brown - Backing Vocals
Cherisse Osei - Drums
Erik Ljunggren - Keyboards
Music Copyright - Simple Minds

The band plays perfectly !!His voice is pure magic and has withstood the passage of time!!
His voice is still amazing after all these years !!
I am 62 today and i remember thoses golden years ….thanks to simple minds. Incredible sound. ❤
I’m 65 and yes thank you for those years x
Idem almost 66…
Happy birthday.
I’m 68 ditto!😂
Simple Minds to me is one of the greatest bands of all time. I turn 64 this year and an Australian. I totally love seeing the younger ones keeping the music alive and really getting into the atmosphere which must bring joy to the band. An absolute well filmed concert.👍🇦🇺☮️
Right up there with INXS. Great bands of the 80's. Still, Sherbet and Howzat still takes some beating...😂 Btw, I do actually love that tune. Love from the UK 🇬🇧
The drummer is amazing! As are the rest of the band of course, but she is just so solid.
Charlie has to be one of the most underrated guitarists of all time. He's a powerhouse who's sound has defined SM over the decades.
For me it was always Mark Knopfler (Dire Straights), David Gilmour (Pink Floyd), and Charlie Burchill (Simple Minds). All great guitarists.
Charlie is one of the ten best guitarists on this planet. It is obvious.
Charlie and Derek Forbes defined their sound. He is an monster bassist
Excellent Live From SCOTTISH SIMPLE MINDS One of Bigger best Rock roll band in the world since 40 years !!!
I didnt think it was from ENGLISH SIMPLE MINDS 😂
So true. Been there live für 2 times in Hannover in the 90´s ❤.
I am almost 64. I was resident dj in Tiffany's, Edinburgh (Mecca). Monday nights were live music night, Regular Music promoted those nights. The dj box was on the stage, I saw Simple Minds, I think 4 times there from only a few feet away. They were awesome every performance. That was a long time ago, pre Virgin Records deal days.
Best thing ever to come out of Scotland absolutely brilliant live seen them for the first time 35 years ago at Meadowbank Stadium, Edinburgh, Scotland on August 12, 1989 ….Street Fighting Years Tour 🎶🎶🏴❤️🙏👌👍
Simple Minds .. Whiskey .. Bay City Rollers (hahaha)
2 out 3 ain’t bad 😎
Absolutely amazing. They've never been as good as this since ages... Well done JK & Co! You were/are my childhood heroes, the soundtrack of my youth. NGD is probably the best record of the 80s. Love from Belgium.
New Gold Dream is such a bold beautiful masterpiece and those songs sound brand new played here - amazing
Their music stands the test of time... 🥰
Those lyrics, those anthems...! Neon Generation of Generations living the time of their lives!
SM also on my compilation of bands i listened too when i was a young kid and still listen to today 40 years later
Copenhagen 🇩🇰supports

I wasn't sure how to do this indexing. Thanks
I have seen Simple Minds so many times, and have yet to see a better group live. Masters of their trade. I get very emotional every time I see them as it brings back memories of my late brother who passed away 20 years ago, he was a super fan, he went everywhere to see them. Seeing them for the first time together with him at Milton Keynes bowl (one of many) on a scorching hot day in 1986 is a memory I will cherish forever ❤️
THERE IS ONLY TWO OF THE ORIGINAL MEMBERS LEFT AS THERE WAS NO FEMALE SINGERS IN THE ORIGINAL SORRY FOR THE LOSS OF YOUR BROTHER
DEACON BLUE ARE BETTER THEN THESE AND THEY ARE BRILLIENT FROM FIRST SONG TO THE LAST SONG ALSO FROM GLASGOW
@@garypring2658 In your opinion. After 38 years of seeing them live, I am aware of the bands changing line up thanks. I have also seen Deacon Blue 5 times, they were dreadful on each occasion…in my opinion.
Loss of someone close, a family member is so hard to deal with, and it's sad to hear of yours. I have often struggled with listening to some music that takes the emotions back to earlier days when the loss didn't exist. Your brother certainly sounds like he was a devoted fan of a band that has given so many great live performances through the years, which no doubt he enjoyed hugely. You must have lots of fond memories to cherish.
Phenomenal band! ❤🔥
Just wow!!🤩 ❤️❤️
Simple Minds❤️❤️
Absolutely brilliant. What a set. Shame sky arts didn't do the start of it.
Excellent show. Everyone sounds great. 👍👍Drummer 🔥
Jim's voice still superb.
Wow. They absolutely rocked it 👍👍👍
Best live band in the world!!!!

Love Simple Minds and love the drummer’s energy 👍
Oh wow great! Marty Sender You Tube in USA
Simple Minds are still brilliant - great memories of Maida Vale - we had a ball!
58, taking me back, awsomely amazing still
Jim & Charlie absolute 80’s Legends. Saw them in Leeds in 2022, but that set looked an amazing gig. I saw Noel Gallagher at the IOW in 2012, the crowd looked more energised for Simple minds tho. 👌
Simple masterpice 🤩💖💖✌️✌️✌️🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Legends slot Glastonbury without a doubt. Saw them several years ago absolutely phenomenal live. Brilliant band and they know how to work the crowd.
...... they'd pull off a headline tbh 🤟
@@grumholmesI’d love Depeche Mode for that
Glasto's owners the Eavis family hate Depeche Mode for some reason.
Martin Gore made a comment ages ago on the subject.
As for SM only one Glasto appearance in an afternoon slot in 1995 i think.
They deserve a legends slot, as do Duran Duran, but the Eavis's hate bands that are seen as 80s.
Its a reason i swerve Glasto and go to festivals like the IOW and V instead.
Remarkable! Alive and kicking!
Still one of my favorite bands from the 80’s. I’m a 55 year old African American women who great up in Atlanta, Georgia.
Best band at the Isle of Wight Festival 2024.
That was an Incredible set!!professionally filmed, recorded-just pure joy going out from the stage and right back. So great to hear live instruments. The rides in the background added to the festivities. IMHO Hands down best set of Summer Festival season. ❤ from NYC!!
The band with two feet on the ground
No pretentions
Nice guys
great great great band absolutely since the 80 s
A performance do Jim é de um garoto de 20 anos . Incrível !
Jees, Simple Minds absolutely on fire, amazing set.. they deserve legendary status..
Fantastic band love em
Not a lot wrong with that chaps !!!!!
RESPECT.......
Still got it in abundance
New Gold Dream is a underrated album from the 80's. Jesus christ what an album, every song is legendary... Also the band is soundind fantastic. Id like to hear Derek back on the bass though...
Minha banda da década de 80 favorita. Perfeitos como sempre. From Salvador Bahia Brazil
Thanks for sharing... they're still the best!!!
Thanks for sharing... DYFAM! Hairs on the back of ya neck sorta stuff! A band that gets better and better with age!
were pretty awesome to begin with...
... like fine wine😊
Love yous . Brilliant ❤❤
Simple minds with one set completely wipe out every act at glastonbury oh yeah my friends
100%. Glastonbury is shite these days.
No imagination in the line ups just Coldplay and endless rap crap.
MAGNIFIC EXCELENT .............OH YAEAH!!!
linda música beautiful
Absolutely amazing brings back good memories buzzing around in my mk1 ford escort mexico in the 80s listening to simple minds awesome
Better than me. My first car was a 9 year old MK2 Escort, but just a bog standard 1.6
Dream in the dream with me 🎵🎵🎵 simple minds forever❤
Outstanding !!thanks S.Minds for being you .
I missed Simple Minds in Dublin due to Covid. I absolutely love this band. We will get to the next one I'm sure!
You simply won’t regret seeing them! First saw them in 2010 and the filthy weather didn’t prevent one of the best musical experiences of my life…..
The best 80s band I remember when they first started .
That is a band in command of its audience
Absolutely. Always a joy to watch (and listen to) live.
Brilliant. Thanks Jim amazing music best live band in the world
As good as ever. There sound and mix is perfect 🏴🇦🇺 What a fab drummer.Go girl 👌⭐️
1. That was brilliant
2. Love the drummer !
Still going strong. I saw them in Lyon in the eighties. An unforgettable experience.
Toujours au TOP, avec ses classiques intemporels Simple Minds !
Absolutely goosebumps!
Greetings from Brazil.
Amazing. Sounds better than the 80’s. What a fantastic drummer.
Better than the 80s? Sober up! 😂
Obviously, you weren't there. You could see them play what seemed like every second week in Central Scotland. Jeez, never been the same since Brian, Derek and Mick left/got booted out. Now, that's when they were magnificent.
woke groveller
Legendary… great to see they’re still around, beats the hell out of listening to Coldplay.
I made that point the other day.
Glastonbury is crap.
They've only ever invited Simple Minds once, for an aftrrnoon set in the mid 90s, yet Coldplay have been 5 times.
Glastonbury and the Eavis family have no taste at all.
Simple Minds Depeche Mode Duran Duran get blanked for crap like Dua Lipa and Coldplay
what an emotion!
I got chills in 10 seconds!! I've a ton of their stuff on vinyl 📀
Larga vida a Simple Minds!!!
Saw them the night before in a field in Cornwall.Still buzzing!!
They’ve absolutely still got a. Brilliant. It was an honour to have seen them live earlier this year.
What a band, great great great !!
Thanks so much for sharing!👍🏼
Simple Minds❤️
You're welcome
En pleine forme ❤
A young girl from Kent grew up listening to Simple Minds. Every album. Obsessed. Just a couple of years ago... "walking in the soft summer rain... (hehe... warm rain here 😉😝😅 calling out your name..."
They sound great! ❤
Che bei ricordi ❤❤❤❤
Brilliant
🥰😍🤗 amazing
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Cherisse osei has added more flesh 😊
Great song
Sounding great again.
❤❤❤
Tu aurais le code netflix@2🥰🧛♀️🏧™🚗
Excellent !! 😊
great band, i always wanted them to produce more like U2 did, but they stopped way too soon. he's still got the voice though, great to see em again. 💣💣💣
What obviously you haven’t been paying attention…….recorded and produced more studio and live albums than u2 by quite some margin.
in the last decade alone they have released 3 new studio albums and 4 live albums lol
grandi !!
Drummer 🤩🤩🤩
James Kerr, living icon putting the things @ their perfectly right side! Voice, vibes, harmonies ...and his 'je ne sais quoi' meaning: not a simple mind!
Nos vemos el 27 de julio en Chiclana (Cádiz) España
Thanks for sharing this 👍🏼
You're welcome
❤
How could they omit the best song they have ever done in the mighty waterfront that’s sky for you
Three great songs omitted. It's criminal.
@Oriano71 it's not 1980 anymore. The passage of time makes selecting the play list more important than ever to suit the singers current day range. Look at the 2022 McCartney set list for Glastonbury as a good example.
@@da_great_mogul It was Sky TV that decided to omit from the setlist the first 3 songs of the whole performance. What's shown here is what was broadcast, only 42 minutes worth rather then the full 60 minute performance.
SM. ❤❤❤
They are called simple minds from Scotland 🏴
The drummer oh baby
Saw them before they were famous in Leigh, Lancs - very early 1980s. I can see the drummer has undergone a few transformations... 😁👍
Saw them loads in the early days, I think they lost it a bit after New Gold Dream, still cut it live though!!
Drummers giving Ole Mel a run for the money WHT deep deep groove
5 🌟
