- I finally got my broken flip camera replaced, and I'm excited to do some more lessons for you guys. This is a lesson on all the various parts of the the song.. (not the song in its entirety). It's only designed to be a starting point for you to build on. After learning these parts it should be much easier to pick up things by ear from the record or live version. I hope this helps and feel free to leave a comment or a song request. Thanks
I know this was posted a while ago, but damn man. Thank you. This feels like a key to greater piano chops. Best tutorial of this on YT.
this is so good holy crap
It's honestly amazing that i learned this peice in two days! Simple tutorial to follow. It's great how you explain and repeat parts in the tutorial.
Two days ?!!
This is great. My wife and I record in the winter and she picked this tune (one of my favorite albums is 11 17 70). I play guitar, bass and drums and passable piano. This really helped figure out those cool little rolls and pickup notes. To the 8 thumbs down folks, go soak your head.
That’s an amazing live album. People don’t realize they were a piano based power trio on the early tours. Even if you took away Elton’s funky polyrhythmic playing that could carry a gig on its own... you have one of the best bass and drum duo’s the music world has ever known. Dee and Nigel were on fire that night. Perhaps they were using some performance enhancing drugs.
@@tylerthompson1842 Totally agree. I love the bass playing on that record. It's almost like pre-Jaco. At times it sounds like a fretless. As for the drumming, it's great too but it's got that terrible 70's 'hitting the oatmeal bucket' tone that was popular back then.
You killed this!
7:40- "way too high for me to sing" - after he literally just sounded LEGIT AS FUCK singing right before that!!! dude you have killer chops and i dig your voice too! really glad i found you here!
dude your playing is fucking awesome. replaying that intro a couple times before getting into the lesson
This looks and sounds fantastic! I really hope I have time to learn this over the coming weeks. Thanks so much!
Thank you do much Tyler! I'm a die hard 'ear see' player and this helps so much. Thanks!!!
One of my fav songs
Awesome tutorial - all 4 parts! Thank you for this!
Thanks for the great tutorial. Would love to see one for Mona Lisas & Mad Hatters.
I love this song it’s one the best songs ever. One song I always wish I could learn is all across the havens from eltons johns empty sky album.
Great. Thank you very much Tyler. This gonna help me a lot !
Great tutorial. Clear demo
Thank you! This is so helpful!
sheeeesh, you´re great man!!
Thanks for this series. I was working it out by ear but my mp3 of the song is one I ripped from vinyl and as a result it's a little muddy. I had the key right and have the right hand part of the intro just about down but the left hand part is really hard to decipher with my copy.
Great job breaking it down! 👍👍👍👍
Of all Elton John's albums "Elton John" and "Tumbleweed Connection" have been my absolute favorites since I was 9 years old - waaaayyyy back in 1971-2.
Thanks again!
Fantastic!!!
Thanks a lot man. "Gettin Nasty".. Love that tune. Might take me a little while to get it under my fingers, but I think I can do it.
So cool
It's very beautiful😍😍please tell me what is the model of the synth in the video
Nice job. I love this song. I am a new piano player and would love to learn this sometime. A little out of my league but always good to strive.
I am Learning Supertramp Rudy right now. Thought it was way out of my league but taking it slow I find I can actually play it. My confidence just went WAY up. People!! Challenge yourself!!.
Great challenge, good luck!
Nice!!
I was wrong there are 2 songs that made me want to learn piano. Or really more accurately. 2 albums, Tumbleweed connection and mad dogs and Englishmen.
Thanks for the great beginner lessons.

Excellent:) what about to a tutorial of this song in the key of Elton doing this these days? It would be even more fantastic!

If you feel that it's real I'm on trial
And I'm here in your prison
Like a coin in your mint
I am dented and I'm spent with high treason
Through a glass eye your throne
Is the one danger zone
Take me to the pilot for control
Take me to the pilot of your soul
Take me to the pilot
Lead me through the chamber
Take me to the pilot
I am but a stranger
Take me to the pilot
Lead me through the chamber
Take me to the pilot
I am but a stranger
Na na na, na na na, na na na na na na na na
Na na na, na na na, na na na na na na na na
Well I know he's not old
And I'm told, and I'm told he's a virgin
For he may be she
What I'm told; and I'm never, never for certain
Through a glass eye your throne
Is the one danger zone
Take me to the pilot for control
Take me to the pilot of your soul
Take me to the pilot
Lead me through the chamber
Take me to the pilot
I am but a stranger
Take me to the pilot
Lead me through the chamber
Take me to the pilot
I am but a stranger
Na na na, na na na, na na na na na na na na
Na na na, na na na, na na na na na na na na
