My biggest gun regret was canceling a layaway purchase on a sub $400 marlin 336W at Wal-Mart in the late 90's. I was so broke I decided I needed the money more than that rifle and justified it by thinking I could just get one later. I cry a little every time I think back on what I gave up back then. Won't happen again. I just took delivery of my new Ruger made Marlin 1895SBL.

Yeah back in 1997 they had an amazing special for $349, I was 15 years old, getting ready for my first deer hunt. A few weeks later on my 16th birthday my dad handed me a big cardboard box and inside was a Marlin 336W, the same gun I was lusting after. 25 years later she is my go to feral hog and deer gun. I have AR's, AK's and a M1A, but nothing gives me more pleasure when I can get more 30-30 ammo and give the old girl a run.

I got one myself back in the early 90's and over 30 years later, it has taken countless deer, shoots MOA and is still going strong, Those 90's Walmart Marlins are strong, tough, accurate, durable and dependable.

Hello!... May I ask you a question?.... Are you prohibited from owning all firearms?... What if you want to go hunting?... Can you have a shotgun, at least?... Or are guns and hunting totally not allowed?... I already know a gun for personal and family protection is definitely not allowed....

@@jasonbuck489 hi standard rifles and shotguns are allowed for hunting. No problem there as we have lots of pest feral animals that need controlling. Firearms ownership here is a privilidge via license and strictly forbidden to use for self defence.

@Wolf's Prairie Outdoors Glad your promoting a fun category of guns, no apologies needed. There are many folks in states that restrict the 2A(like me in California) and it's great to be able to maximize what we can.
Plus it's fun to think we could be like the character from "The Rifleman" TV show.
Wish I remembered who it was(think it was Hickok45, does make sense if it was him) and he shot 7 or 8 shots from a lever gun that wasn't too far off a semi auto rifle. And he was freaking accurate.
Thanks for what you put into your videos.

Great video as always. Correct me if I’m wrong but take the 1894, I believe you can interchange the straight grip to pistol grip stock, as long as you also change the lever and are happy with a gap at the bottom as the bottom plate is different, it’s thicker and profiled at the back to fit the stock cut out. The guys over at marlinspares explain it better with a page on pistol grip conversions

I bought a marlin/ruger 1894. The rifle operates great and workmanship is very good. I do have one complaint. I like buckhorn style sights, the ones that come on an expensive rifle is plastic. I changed to a ranger point prcision sight. Plastic sights on a very expensive rifle is a bunch of crap. I found out ghe sights were plastic when I showed the rifle to a friend. The sights were cracked.

I have a Marlin 1894P and came across your video, explaining the tenon differences of 1894P- which leads me to believe the rail screw points will not line up with the tenon/screw holes. Is there an installation solution to this? Do you know if the handguard meant for the Marlin 336 barrel strap model- with its tenon adapter, might possibly be a solution to use on the Marlin 1894P? I would appreciate your feedback.

There’s no other option. It is a tight fit, but make sure your barrel band is turned the right way. Sometimes, especially pistol calibers, the barrel band will be slightly larger on one side than the other.

Remington Marlin after getting rid of the deviated J.M. Marlin parts after they bought Marlin from J.M. When Remington started making their Marlin lever guns all Remington, they made the best Marlin lever guns ever. Remington from 2016 till Ruger bought them made the best! Remington sold their Marlin lever guns at prices the common man could afford. In 2019 Remington Marlin sold their 1895 SBL’s for around $750 Compare that with Ruger’s recent model 1895 SBL almost $2,000. Ruger seems to like to destroy people on the prices.
Ruger 336 has a trigger pull of 7.5 lbs. and the Remington 336’s had a trigger pull of 4.5 lbs.

You arent destroying lever guns. I am a huge lever gun fan. In fact I am just a bigger fan of single action firearms in general. There is just something intimate about having to physically chamber every round after each shot, hearing that round chamber, and feeling that bolt lock. Gotta love it. Anyway. People guns are an artistry and a craft. Just because someone enjoys that craft differently from you, does not mean they are destroying it. I personally am a function and form type of person. The same way I dont want something that looks hideous but performs well. I also dont want something that looks good but performs like crap. I need both and will have both no matter what the hard-up traditionalists like to say. I own 9 lever action rifles, because I love them. I only have two that are unmodified, because I personally like rifles the way they are and that is my Marlin 1894 Cowboy and My Uberti 1873 competition rifle. All of my other lever actions are modified to fit with in the criteria of what I want them to look like, feel like, and shoot like. Theres nothing wrong with that. People take what I think is a sub-par gun off the shelf (Glock). They take this 550 dollar gun and dump a couple grand into it modifying it to something they want to shoot. Never heard anyone say they are destroying Glocks. So whether you like your guns in their original off the factory line form or heavily modified, there is nothing wrong with that. At the end of the day, its your money you spent, its your firearm you own, and its your preference.
