I'm a Marlin 336 fan. I have been hunting the past 4 years with this same rifle and I recent experienced a major jam with mine. In the process I stripped the screw on the factory loading gate. I decided to go with the Ranger Point Precision Flyweight gate. There really is no comparison at all! Things are much smoother now! This is one of the better videos on the tube. I really appreciate you taking the time and demonstrating how to change these parts out. I'm really considering the midsize lever, take down screw, and I would also love to change out my trigger as well. I have just subscribed hoping not to miss any informative videos. Again, thank you for sharing your knowledge!
I installed the rpp trigger on my Marlin 1895 GBL, and was very disappointed; the Marlin standard trigger is heavier to pull, but as crisp as the trigger on my Sako85. The rpp trigger have a lighter pull, but has a severe lag! I am going to change back immidiately!
I would very much like to install these upgrades on my Marlin Dark simply as an exercise to learn the mechanics of the rifle, take down/rebuild maintenance, de-burring and polishing but unfortunately in Australia the cost and hassle and cost to procure the necessary components is astoundingly prohibitive. I have tried but the price jumps 3 to 400% to import and that is not an exaggeration. Thank you for the videos. The explanations, thought out provision of information and format is easy to follow and inspires confidence to achieve the task set out. Cheers.
Your videos are like my ASMR haha. I recently bought a 1952 336RC. It's dreamy, but I wanted to upgrade it a bit, and found your lever installation video. Now I've ordered a trigger and loading gate haha I'm only going to stop short of changing the furniture. You don't buy a vintage gun to slap an M-LOK hand-guard on it. Or maybe you do and I might. Who knows.
LOL it's hard to do to a vintage one. These new ones I bought with the purpose of modifying. But, it's hard to find anything right now, so do what you can with what you have. Thanks for watching!
Here is a Tip if this is your first time with the Hammer Spring: Be sure the hammer is all the way forward in the "fired" position (press the hammer release button just behind the trigger and trigger to lower the hammer forward). If you don't you will struggle like I did (launching the spring across the room a couple times...) until you feel like a dummy and realize the hammer is in the cocked position and there is no way you are going to compress the spring and be able to slide it in the slot!
Yeah, that's fun! lol. Kind of like working on an AR and forgetting about the nipple and spring holding in the buffer...I've lost a couple of those, hahaha.
I’ve been looking more into the actual hunting aspect of the Henry vs Marlin, while the Henry was always higher in my regards, the actual function of the Marlin certainly has my attention. Just by replacing those items, you has transformed this rifle, and can be done at various stages. The first would be the loading gate. I know it was be sacrilegious, but painting the stock like the Dark Series could be an effective and cheap alternative to get a different look.
Man I love all your vids, I'm also in the south (FL) and these are such a great option. When the Army gives me time I'm hunting more this year than last.I hot the SBL just from watching your vids and fell in love. Thanks for all the upgrade videos!
Thanks so much!! Good luck with your hunting! Really appreciate the feedback and kind words. Glad you enjoy them and that I helped you pick out a rifle. Nothing like shooting a nice 45-70 to put a smile on your face! Thanks for watching!!
Thanks so much!! It's a Wheeler kit. I'll be doing a video very soon on the tools I've been using because I've had a bunch of questions like this lately. Thanks for watching!
You're welcome & thanks for watching! For my current hunting situation, I've zeroed my 1895 at 50 yards. That way I'm not off much if the deer is closer (35ish yards) or further out to 100. I would say zero based on your intended use and area to be used in.
Sadly not new. You'd just have to luck up on a used one in a shop or online somewhere. Good luck! They are great guns. I love mine. It's held up extremely well.
Haven’t had a chance to shoot it yet. We’ve had record rainfall, lol. I’ll definitely let you know in the upcoming plinking video if we experience any though. Thanks for watching!
Why does my trigger want to shoot forward as soon as I put the put the pin back in? Am I missing something? Installed it multiple time and the same thing, it springs all the way forward toward the trigger plate, tried to re-install the factory one back in, and that does the same thing.....help! Hahahaha
@@buildhuntxplore what does this trigger kit do for reducing trigger pull? Can you give me some actual numbers. My tirgger pull on my 336XLR is atrocious.

Mine underway. Sights first. Should come in today! 😎

Oh man that stinks. Sorry it's so much more there. You're welcome, and thanks for the kind words and support!!

Brownells have a great set of thin bits especially for Marlins. They are invaluable. No more torn heads.
Good to know! Thanks!!

Great video for those of us who like to customize
Thanks! Gotta love the ability to customize these, and it really is easy.
Great Video. I have a 336W 3030 which I am currently upgrading. Your advice is beneficial.
Thanks!! Glad it’s helping out and good luck with your project!
Thank you thank you thank you 🙏

What was the starting vs final trigger pull weight?
Ive heard that you can also unload the tube with those ranger point gates by pushing in on them as well.
Some you can, some you can't. The smaller pistol caliber ones won't allow it. Thanks for watching!
I love your videos. They are very helpful.
I would like to know which hollow ground screwdriver set you use.

Any issues with the hammer catching on the bolt after trigger install. Having this issue not sure if I installed wrong
Great video, could you make a video oing over your guns and gear on that rack behind you.
Will do 👍😁 and thanks!
Nicely done I like what you hav done so far are you going to change your hammer like on some of your builds .
Thanks! On this hammer, I'll be adding the Ranger Point Precision Hammer Spur. On the others, I added the stock Marlin hammer spur.
It would be nice if the improvement that each part is expected to provide is explained as the part is installed.
Brian, you have mention a polishing video several times. Where can it be found?
Great poor mans rifle I love my 336w
It really is!!
Thank you for making these videos. I have a question I thought I would ask you: what is the ideal zero distance for a Marlin 1895?

@@buildhuntxplore thanks for the recommendation. This is my first 'big" rifle, so I didn't have a clue, and couldn't find anything on Google either.
That is like asking how much air you should breath. The answer is as much as you need. 😒
Can you still get that exact rifle today? And if so where?? If not I’m thinking about doing the curly maple variant
Sadly not new. You'd just have to luck up on a used one in a shop or online somewhere. Good luck! They are great guns. I love mine. It's held up extremely well.
I found one at a pawn shop near me with the factory tags even though it is a 2016 gun just placed my order for a new hand guard and some other goodies
Awesome!!
What screw driver set are you using? Thank you.
It's a basic Wheeler kit, check out my Tools, Kits, & Acc. video.
In this video you mention a polishing video. Did I miss that?
Have you noticed any misfires with the lighter hammer spring?
Haven’t had a chance to shoot it yet. We’ve had record rainfall, lol. I’ll definitely let you know in the upcoming plinking video if we experience any though. Thanks for watching!
Is the loading gate as stiff as the stock ones?
Nope, this was much better than the stock one.
I cannot find the low power spring anywhere on the ranger point website :-(
I think they are pretty much sold out everywhere right now.

Please tell us where you can get a 336 for $400 out the door??
Lol, sadly nowhere anymore. I bought this just before this video was made.
You are doing a great job. Can you up grade my 45/70 rifle for me?
Thanks so much! Sorry, not at this time.
come on man, you didn't check the trigger pull after the installation. Was that intentional because it wasn't any better?
lol early days of UA-cam. It’s phenomenally better. Drops the weight a couple pounds and is much more crisp
@@buildhuntxplore no light primer strikes?
Not a one. I have this trigger in 6 Marlins and have hundreds of rounds through them
