- The new GoPro Hero11 came out just as I was in the market for another camera.
Talk about timing!
This time around they have diversified their offering and have a Creator Edition, which includes the following:
GoPro Hero11 Black
Media Mod
Light Mod
Volta Hand Grip
Enduro Battery
This was an online order directly from the GoPro site and came in at quite a deal.
If you sign up for a 1-year subscription to GoPro, the price came down over $200 on the package.
Out the door I spent $707.50 for the gear and $49.99 for a 1-year subscription.
With a deal like that, I also tossed in (2) 64 GB SD cards and the Max Lens Mod (unboxing to come).
Follow along as I do an unboxing of the newest edition to the GoPro line, get it set up, and share my thoughts!

I've never owned a GoPro in my life but just got a new job for a camping / off-road business doing social media so I got the Hero 11 Creator Edition for our content. Oh my goodness, it's so good! The 'easy mode' is helping me out while I get stated until I'm ready to take the training wheels off. 5K footage at 30FPS looks great in the sand dunes!

Hello, great questions!
The GoPro should fully charge in under 2 hours.
In regards to the Volta unpairing from the GoPro when connecting to the Quik app, yes, that is normal.
The GoPro will only pair to one or the other.
I believe a microphone cover is generally called a wind sock

Naive question, but for everyday video/vlogging, what makes GoPro better than a smartphone's camera?

There are no naive questions here, and never any judgement from me.
I’m still running the camera through some scenarios, but so far here is what I like on the GoPro:
1. Image stabilization / Hyper smooth
2. Ability to shoot in 5.3K, allowing me to crop shots and still retain hi-def quality.
3. Smaller than the iPhone, less awkward.
4. More versatility with lenses.
Those are just a few reasons I like it for vlogging and shooting some of my videos.
However, to be very clear, the iPhone makes shooting and editing quite simple, as it does most everything for the user and there isn’t a lot of post-shoot editing that is needed.
With the GoPro you will need to do editing after a shoot. It’s a great camera, but using the Pro setting is similar to shooting photography. You can get great shots and footage, but may require some editing afterwards.
All in all, I am happy with the GoPro for what I am using it for.
Next year I do plan on picking up a Canon, Panasonic, or Sony and doing an unboxing and review.
I’m a photographer at heart, so new cameras are always fun.

Can you go underwather with the the volta?
No, you cannot go underwater with the Volta.
If you do take it in water, and subsequently damage it, GoPro will void both the camera and Volta warranties.
Volta or extra battery which setup is good
Excellent question.
It really depends on your shooting needs, in my opinion.
The Volta is limited in where it can be set up vs a tripod like a Gorillapod w extra battery that can pretty much be set up anywhere.
However, for things like time lapses (think Star Trails) the Volta wins every time.

I only have 2 cameras for video: the GoPro Hero 11 and iPhone 13 Pro.
I like the GoPro for its ability to shoot in 5.3K, which I can then crop and still retain 4K quality.

This might be a dumb question, but I see it's waterproof... Is that just the camera or can I fully submerge the full setup?
Yes, I understand it's probably not practical to jump in the water with a mic cover but can I jump in with the chord from the Volta to Media Mod connected?
There is never a dumb question on this channel!
To answer your question, only the camera is waterproof.
The Media Mod requires removing the battery door on the actual camera. In doing this, the waterproof seal is no longer there and the mod merely plugs into the camera via the open door.
Also, the Volta is not waterproof.
It is my understanding that if the camera is damaged from being submerged with the Mod or Volta attached, the warranty on the camera is voided.

Good question.
If you use the easy settings, it does a really good job of adjusting to the environment in which you are shooting.
If you use the pro settings, it helps to have some photography/video knowledge, as making some adjustments will result in great videos.
I also edit the videos using iMovie.
Now, to be clear, this camera will not give you perfect images like the iPhone, because the iPhone does all the adjustments for you. I still use it for some of my videos.
But honestly, if you take a moment to learn the GoPro, you will have quality outcomes.
If you don’t take the time to learn a few things, you won’t.
Is it a hard casing ?
Yes, it is a hard plastic case.
I only watched to see when you realised out left a spare door in the packing.....the one with the pass through for the power cable se you can use the GoPro weather proofed with the hand grip....aka without the media mod. Check the packing list again more carefully Dude

Good question.
It is my understanding that the audio can only be removed in post-recording editing.
Outside of that, the answer is no.

You can use up to a 1TB sd card.
Too bad there is no dividers in the case to keep things organized.

For now I’m using the cardboard that came with it.
I do plan on getting a couple pieces of foam and making my own insert in the near future.
