Thanks! Start basic and work out what you want to build the truck for. Keep it simple and do your research first, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes!

It won’t be as capable as Lando for a while, I’m on a very tight budget so only 33s vs 35s and currently no lockers doesn’t give it much of a chance. With that being said, I cared a lot more about Lando, where as a bit of panel damage on this wagon is all part of it! We’ll see how we go tho, got a few ideas up my sleeve!
@@Crawlerer79 great video been waiting for this as I have an exact same D2. Always wanted some info on swapping springs from the stock LR family to get some lift. Looking forward to seeing mods down the road and how your gonna get the auto to turn those 33’s on the open road( i know you’ll make it work). Heartwarming to see the two of you sharing moments in the shop.
nice one man I all ways wanted to get them wheels, pumped to see where you take the D2. I managed to to fit 285/75/16 mt772's on +30 steelies with just a small bump stop extension and a trim of that lower door sill plastic.
From my experience Range Rover Classic springs are an inch or possibly an inch and a half bigger than D1 springs. Had them on my D1 for a bit when I first ever lifted it and they did do well, there currently sat in my shed, I’d let you have them but I’m in the UK 😊
Hi what is the offset of that wheels? I just rescued a disco2 with same issue as yours. filled and did the transmission service, good as! but lots of rusts though.
Love the vids your a natural at driving off-road..Here in the uk 🇬🇧 we got what seems like millions of these D2s turned into off-roader and having had plenty myself and D1s, This Being a later model disco they just don’t flex aswell as the D1s plus you can’t beat the power of a V8 3.9 💪🏼. The TD5 is ok once mapped. But the V8 wins all day. So it’s going to be interesting on watching your build and how it performs. 👍👍
Td5’s in standard form are pathetic power wise. But if you fit a straight through exhaust and egr delete it really wakes them up, if you decide to go for a remap and bigger turbo and intercooler you can see well over 200bhp
I have the same diff guard and also full Gwyn Lewis diff pan just trying to get one of my welder mates to do the full diff pan rather than the easier diff guard option before my new diff arrives from Nige. Speak to my mate Ashley MLR sure he has d2 springs in stock probably TF and Extreme 4x4 options depending on budget. Looks like you got Elsa to practice on your finger nails before letting her loose on the Disco😀
Sweet! I definitely prefer the replacement pans, I have some spare D2 axles which I’ll build up and shave in the future which will get the replacement pans, but the guard is definitely easier to just get ya going!
I went with 2" body lift/2" suspension so I could fit my 33s without cutting/beating. Mine are also 255/85r16s (on +30 16x8), so a bit skinnier. If only it had the top tier 4.0 in it 😉
Sounds tidy! I definitely didn’t need to cut as much as I did, however I wanted to trim so that 35s could clear in the future. Haha ooh big call! I’ve had the 4.0 and TD5s, tbh I really like them both
Hey buddy great videos love your content! Liked and subbed from 🇬🇧 uk wales 🏴 disco D2 very popular in the off-roading (green laning) scene over here!! 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Love the nail polish x
Haha cheers 😂
Zero lift, zero problems. Nothing an angle grinder cannot solve.
love the disco! ive got a 99 with about 4.5 inchs of lift and 275/60r20 tires but i rub on the control arms even with a 20mm spacers
excellent video showing the process. bring back lando!!
Cheers! It’ll be a while, but Lando will be back and best Disco I can possibly build 👌
@@Crawlerer79 you do good work man - keep it up. Love you in the States!
Ohhhh boy that diff guard is something to be desired I tell ya ! Lookin grouse mate 💪🏼
Haha thanks man, none other like it! 😂
Yeah more vids more vids. Super keen to see the progress on the beater 😎👍
More videos coming soon! I’m super hyped for the build, gonna make for a fun truck to wheel hard on the coast
Can’t wait to se you send it 😉👌.
Yes! I'm glad you kept the Terrafirma beadlock wheels!! They are only getting more expensive.
As am I! Very slick wheels, can’t believe I thought about letting them go!
@@Crawlerer79 I want a set! They are rarely in the United States
Ive got a question, How do you fill or drain the front diff oil with that diffguard in the way
Probably have to siphon and pump the oil in and out 🤔
You can still access the drain and fill ports just fine. Generally use compressed air into a container to pump the oil in 👌

measure the diameter of the springs look for a 1/2 ton 2 wheel drive van . There is where you will fid the springs you need

As you said right at the end, would some extended king springs or something be an option for a cheap lift?

So why did you get rid of the p38? To troublesome? Got offered a good price for it?
Main reason was I’m a sucker for a Disco! The Rangie was awesome and I’m sure I’ll own another one day, but I missed my old D2s too much
Be ready for waipara river run?
Nice video mate, I’m running a d1 with lift and it couldn’t have been easier to fit. I can’t comment on d2 though. Looks great though
keep up the uploads

They’re 7x16, +20mm. Nice score, good luck with the rust!
Love the videos mate, keep up the good work, from the uk 👍
Cheers man! Appreciate it 👍
is there no risk of damaging the oil in the axle during welding?!
There is if you get too much heat into it. Before I drive it, it’ll be being changed
Did you ever measure up to see if you’d gained anything?? It sucks when plans don’t work out - but I’m sure you’ll sort it.
10mm… less than ideal! But it gets all sorted in the next episode!
