Yea there is a plugin for that that disables it via software. Now a days you can do that with ARK-4 firmware which the dev claims to disable it in a deeper level. Im currently putting those to the test in my upcoming battery testing video.
It would have kicked the ds's ass if the psp go could use sd cards. It would have been the perfect on the go multimedia device you could also play games on.

I think your assumption on the battery power is a little off, considering we have super alkaline AAA batteries from Duracell, half the size of them at 1085Mah, so saying those above 1000Mah are "impossible" isn't true. unlikely maybe, but it's not impossible. Still a great vid nonetheless, I plan to buy an aftermarket upgraded PS Vita online and this is a good indicator of what to look out for.
It's a known fact, its impossible to fit anything above 1400 mah (for the slim) or 2200 mah (for the phat) at 3.7v with current lithium ion batteries in those small shells. Btw I recently released the Vita version of this video if you are interested: ua-cam.com/video/HDjFjl59P8Y/v-deo.html

Be really careful with ali express microsd card readers. I used one and it corrupted the partition table of my sd card and I lost dozens of hours of saved gameplay.
@@youngnation23 Yeah man, just get a proper name brand one like sandisk, sony, tech inc, or even high level Chinese brands like green, orico, startech.
Hey, another question. I bought from one of the sellers you recommended. Happy with the device, it’s spot on. I wondered though. I wanted to copy all the data onto one of my reliable SanDisk cards rather than relying on the cheap one they send. I put the card in after doing like for like copy but the PSP couldn’t find the games. Any reason for this or are the memory cards locked to the devices?
Here is how I clone my cards. - Put new card in moded psp and format inside the psp ( it should create a the usual moded psp folder structure ) - Then plug in the new and old cards onto your pc ( if you dont have another card reader, copy everything to your pc then to the new card ) - In the root directory, select all and paste from the old to the new Its pretty simple, if its not reading your games, then either your cfw is not working or something wrong with your ISO folder
I ordered psp 3000 from Ali Express. I hope it will be good. Although I can order one from eBay, but I must have an American address, and the shipping service increases the price of the product, so my best option is Ali Express.
Yea you can use the Data as a charger but the psp has to be already turned on which means the battery cant fully die, you also have to enable the feature in the settings. Any regular old 2amp 5v charger will work
I thought these were new PSPs. I was thinking it was cool if China saved all the manufacturing schematics and were making brand new ones. It would be so great if they did that and even got Chinese developers to make new games for them too.
Just a question, did u test the true capacity of the memory cards? I think they charge more for "extra" space but they are actually just spoffing and chinise sellers do most of the times, that would be a great point to add.
True, it wouls have been a nice addition indeed. If these were fake the sellers would be in trouble, 16gb/32gb are basic capacities, it wouldnt make sense for them to do it. It would also cause major errors loading saves, but I have not encountered any issues (other than that one faulty copy of ATV), I have copied games in and out while the card nearing full capacity without problems.
@@TotalKommandothe problem with those spoffed cards is that they will work as "legit" until they dont :/ Whille I was seeing the video I was checking and the fact that they are upselling space makes me question if it's really worth the price incress or just buy a micro sd from a store sience they dont really cost that much anyway... but them being pre-loader helps a bit on that sience I'm not really in the mod to just dump my roms or even looking to buy new or even download that massive library xD
@@StonyBaboon Yea I always recommend buying a cheap brand name from amazon for like $5-10 for 32gb - 64gb, I still dont trust them in case they fail and lose my save files.
Really interesting to see what state the psps are on Ali express - my aya Neo 2021 handheld pc is pretty much my: pc,psp, ps2, Dreamcast, GameCube,Wii, ds, snes, nes, gba,n64: ps3
Yea, they are a bit overpriced but come with storage and preloaded with cfw. Ebay japan is generally much cheaper. AliExpress vs Ebay Japan So stay tuned : )
Might be related, but bought a screen replacement for ps vita. The screen looks legit, but when I put it together it was snug to fit and the screws holes were unthreaded. Not legit, but it works so I guess I'm satisfy. Just beware of what you buy.
Sounds like you got one of the screen assembly ones that come with part of the frame with the screen preinstalled in it, yea screen is legit, frame probably not
It can be really dangerous to buy a PSP on Aliexpress. They call them refurbished, but they just put a little work into them... On my 1000, the shell quality was poor and the umd drive doesn't work. The 3000 had a shell that was in poor condition and with the 2000 I only got the charging cable and device without a battery and memory card... OK, but the fact that it was hacked in advance was cool and practical and it's probably better than Ebay despite everything
How I see it personally, since I'm refurbishing them my self is this: I buy from ebay with around the same prices usually with more problems and missing analog, battery, sd, adapter, etc I buy from AliExpress I get a working base unit with extras that I can use to further modify and test with, so its a win win, get extra goodies (cheap battery & SD & analog stick I will modify ) + a working unit which I will reshell anyways : )
Dangerous? That’s being extremely overdramatic I have been purchasing from AliExpress for years and they have very good customer service if you got a defective unit it’s very easy to exchange it and most people would reshell the consoles you get anyways if anything eBay has more scams and Amazon rips you off on price every time nearly $200 dollars for a PSP 3000 and I got mine in perfect condition from AliExpress for $75 and I reshelled it with a limited edition oem.
@@aluplaya6544 AliExpress, Im working towards a shell swap video for each model talking about whats good and whats not. They all have problems of varing degrees
If you can use your own 256gb card in the micro sd card adapter its probably worth owning one. Considering the average psp games are 1-1.5 gb / each, not including the ported titles from lower tiered systems that are much less data. Just to let you know the chinese sellers charge good prices for the console only but if you want a 32gb or higher card its exponentially higher price because the convenience of it all. Just buy an rgb10 max3 or R36S, its way cheaper and easier trust me. Btw weighing the cheap batteries to compare to the better ones was really pointless... have a good one!
Beyond 128gb is when things get wonky and isnt as simple as inserting it with the PSPs, thats a topic for another video. Exploring SBC handhelds is a topic for another day as well, imo it just doesnt hit the same on the original hardware. As for battery weighing you will find out why it's not pointless, it gives the average user a quick way of knowing if they got a fake one or not. The battery testing video is currently in the editing phase and I have been working on it for the past 3 months.
I will do a deep comparison in the future, each psp has different problems with the screen. 1000 is the worst but also the best, because you can buy an upgrade IPS screen only for the 1000, if you dont upgrade it, it would be the worse screen.
@@TotalKommando There are 2 or Three Flex cable for the UMD Drive, if one is not connected or badly connected, the drive head doesn't move, just the motor turn, its a common omit when the console is disassembled, i myself missed that when i fixed my 3000.
I have Nokia N Gage qd refurbished from Ali - it was only way to buy it for me. It's in good condition and i can play games :) but psp are much more common, at least in my country, and i think no need to purchase it from China.

I ordered a 3000 model earlier today, when I was younger I bought a 1000 model from my cousin, the UMD drive worked to some extent before it gave out on me, that's when I went with CFW, it worked for sometime and then didn't work anymore for me so not sure what happened to it, so today I figured it's time to get that handheld again cause I really miss those days of playing Medal Of Honor and Socom Navy Seals along with Hot shots golf and many other titles, I'm gonna go to a guy on Main street here to get a new battery just in case, I still have the original charger and accessories from the other PSP I has so look forward to seeing this thing arrive,I prefer to buy on AliExpress cause it's way cheaper than spending around $100 on Ebay, my first PSP I payed $60 for, the one I got today was $70, could you do a video on a PSVITA from Ali Express?
Good times, Vita video is in the works, just waiting for things to arrive : )
It will be an AliExpress vs Ebay version
UMD drivers was able to be disabled on hacked firmware’s to save battery from motors in it as I remember back in time when I was playing with PSPs
Yea there is a plugin for that that disables it via software.
Now a days you can do that with ARK-4 firmware which the dev claims to disable it in a deeper level.
Im currently putting those to the test in my upcoming battery testing video.
The psp was the Mobile console that dared challenge the Nintendo ds and it almost won too. One of my favorite consoles.
It would have kicked the ds's ass if the psp go could use sd cards. It would have been the perfect on the go multimedia device you could also play games on.
@@Romar-io that's true you could not only play games on it but you can watch full on movies with it I remember have a stack of UMD movies when I had my first psp. The Playstation portable was a power house.
that Mint psp thoughhhhh
Remember school game day where you could bring your console class of 30 us 3 with psp rest ds our GTA games got taken away because of age 😂 great times
My school had more of a nintendo fan base with their gameboys and DS, they would do lan parties with the link cable and play pokemon behind the school where no one is around
Well that means i am buying a psp 3000.Thank you for the vid
They are worth but you have to change the battery
damn psp still look amazing ngl
Second charging cable is there in case you somehow break the first one
100% most likely the case or if one is broken already lol
Great video. Subbed, keep working brotha, youll grow fast
Really good video🎉🎉
with that price i suggest buy 2nd ps vita xD
psp under 40$ is a good deal, higher, it's not, buy oem retro handheld is much better, rgb300 etc
Emulation is for poor people
great video man, thinking about buying a pspvita on aliexpress, do you think i should be ok?
Thanks : )
I found the Vitas on AliExpress to be a bit too pricy, I would recommend getting Japanese units from eBay instead.
There seems to be a handful of people who have asked for a Vita AliExpress video so, I may just do that
Be really careful with ali express microsd card readers. I used one and it corrupted the partition table of my sd card and I lost dozens of hours of saved gameplay.
So I just buy a brand new one?
@@youngnation23 Yeah man, just get a proper name brand one like sandisk, sony, tech inc, or even high level Chinese brands like green, orico, startech.
@@mantra1229 bet
I got one and works well
@@peppefailla1630 same so far
STAAAANDO POWAH!
Still have a mint psp 3000, just needs a battery. Wonder what it could fetch.
Been searching. How did you find these beauties?
AliExpress is weird sometimes and doesnt show proper search results or doesnt ship to your area, I have links in the description.
bought the psp-1000 cuz of this video
bros drink is unbeatable
You could say its unbreakable
@@TotalKommando nah ur drink's timeskip is unbeatable (the fact that jotaro and hit share the same va)
@@zeze64. lmao
Great vid!
could you do a video on the best brands for shell replacements?
Eventually yes
Hey, another question. I bought from one of the sellers you recommended. Happy with the device, it’s spot on. I wondered though. I wanted to copy all the data onto one of my reliable SanDisk cards rather than relying on the cheap one they send. I put the card in after doing like for like copy but the PSP couldn’t find the games. Any reason for this or are the memory cards locked to the devices?
Here is how I clone my cards.
- Put new card in moded psp and format inside the psp ( it should create a the usual moded psp folder structure )
- Then plug in the new and old cards onto your pc ( if you dont have another card reader, copy everything to your pc then to the new card )
- In the root directory, select all and paste from the old to the new
Its pretty simple, if its not reading your games, then either your cfw is not working or something wrong with your ISO folder
@@TotalKommando nice one. Will try tomorrow. Thanks
@@TotalKommando this worked btw. Thanks very much. I assume you can’t do the same and put a copied card into another random psp console?
@@ByronUK You can totally do that, thats what I did for a while on some cheap 16gb for my adhoc party psps
Which seller it is? Can you tell
I ordered psp 3000 from Ali Express. I hope it will be good. Although I can order one from eBay, but I must have an American address, and the shipping service increases the price of the product, so my best option is Ali Express.
Hey, I wanted to ask - do the Data Cables also double as charging cables? If so, will any charging head work with them?
Yea you can use the Data as a charger but the psp has to be already turned on which means the battery cant fully die, you also have to enable the feature in the settings. Any regular old 2amp 5v charger will work
@@TotalKommando You mean that the 5V 2amp charger will be able to charge the PSP even if the battery goes to 0?
2:12 no lights? No music? Just anger!
Really interesting to see what state the psps are on Ali express - my aya Neo 2021 handheld pc is pretty much my: pc,psp, ps2, Dreamcast, GameCube,Wii, ds, snes, nes, gba,n64: ps3
... I'd love to see this done with the Vita.
Do they sell those on AliExpress?
Yea, they are a bit overpriced but come with storage and preloaded with cfw. Ebay japan is generally much cheaper.
AliExpress vs Ebay Japan
So stay tuned : )
@@TotalKommando will do 👍🏾💙
My PSP original model randomly stopped working. Led green light will appear but the screen is just black. What could have happened?
Might be related, but bought a screen replacement for ps vita. The screen looks legit, but when I put it together it was snug to fit and the screws holes were unthreaded. Not legit, but it works so I guess I'm satisfy. Just beware of what you buy.
Sounds like you got one of the screen assembly ones that come with part of the frame with the screen preinstalled in it, yea screen is legit, frame probably not
Can u drop ur other channels in the description next time? Or on ur channel page?
You can find them at the bottom of this channhel homepage
It can be really dangerous to buy a PSP on Aliexpress. They call them refurbished, but they just put a little work into them...
On my 1000, the shell quality was poor and the umd drive doesn't work.
The 3000 had a shell that was in poor condition
and with the 2000 I only got the charging cable and device without a battery and memory card...
OK, but the fact that it was hacked in advance was cool and practical and it's probably better than Ebay despite everything
How I see it personally, since I'm refurbishing them my self is this:
I buy from ebay with around the same prices usually with more problems and missing analog, battery, sd, adapter, etc
I buy from AliExpress I get a working base unit with extras that I can use to further modify and test with, so its a win win, get extra goodies (cheap battery & SD & analog stick I will modify ) + a working unit which I will reshell anyways : )
@@TotalKommando where are you getting shells from? all i saw is crappy cheap plastic thats not worth buying
The battery testing video is currently in the editing phase and I have been working on it for the past 3 months.
very informative video
Could you show us a video on how to mod the psp please ??!
Hardware or Software
Im currently going through a set of hardware mods
awesome video. Can you do the same for nintendo ds ?
I'll consider it for a future video
what model of psp is the best to get and why? ty for the video
I will do a deep comparison in the future, each psp has different problems with the screen.
1000 is the worst but also the best, because you can buy an upgrade IPS screen only for the 1000, if you dont upgrade it, it would be the worse screen.
Hello! Can i get one of those psps from the video? Moneys really tight right now.
I bought a $300 premodded nintendo switch motherboard from ali once that was a big risk so was buying a base model switch premodded mobo inside
Did you request a specific color or is it luck of the draw?
The only one I selected a color for was the 2000 mint green, it was one of the clickable options. The rest are random and usually mostly black.
I bought one from a dealer you linked and this may be a dumb question but can you change the emulators to English?
You could, but you also need to translate and rename those game file names from Chinese to english, probbaly easier to just start from scratch
Thanks for great content, Do you know how I can buy psvita pch2000 with good condition from website support international shipping?
You can watch my recent PS Vita Buying guide video: ua-cam.com/video/HDjFjl59P8Y/v-deo.html\
: )
What're you going to do with all of those psp units?
more videos, experiments, and tutorials
Did we get bigger over time, or those psp's looked bigger back in the days haha
We defiantly got bigger, and our phones are also bigger now, my psp fits in the footprint of my lg v60 phone
I know a guy who turned a apartment into a warehouse of ps3s and psps and ps2s u can buy from him and they are moded
If the UMD Drive doesn't work, its just disconnected flex cable.
In the video I put the psp close to the mic, you can hear it clicking like its jammed and in need of cleaning
@@TotalKommando There are 2 or Three Flex cable for the UMD Drive, if one is not connected or badly connected, the drive head doesn't move, just the motor turn, its a common omit when the console is disassembled, i myself missed that when i fixed my 3000.
I bought a white psp 1000 and I’m sure the buttons and dpad were clear. Maybe not though, was a long time ago.
I have Nokia N Gage qd refurbished from Ali - it was only way to buy it for me. It's in good condition and i can play games :) but psp are much more common, at least in my country, and i think no need to purchase it from China.
If you can find them locally for a decent price, that's always the best option.
Have a psp go that was full of data. For some reason it doesnt turn on or charge anymore. 😅
