      if you want something light and packable go with the ocrtopeak, if you don't mind a bit more weight but for a thicker fabric go with the mega horn. Very happy with the ocrtopeak having used it on several occasions.

    Is there any issue with the inner tent and the wood stove? Any worry of the inner tent melting?

    • @YassinHM
      @YassinHM  3 роки тому +2

      Nothings happened to me so far while using the inner, there’s about a foot and a half of clearance minimum between the stove and the inner so it’s fine. I’ve found out I liked it better in the winter without the inner tent, just using a tarp so that may not even be a concern if you find you like it without the inner as well.

      It’s fairly good quality yes. The material is a thinner silnylon unlike their mega horn but it’s light weight and packs down real well.

      Did you get the tent? I've ordered mine on the 10th of February and paid for 4 day shipping. It's the 17th and no movement yet. I've emailed twice but not reply on when it will get here. I have a trip set the 25th and may not have my tent, stove, poles and tub.

      @@YassinHM one would think if it was bought on the 10th it should have shipped on the 11th. At best 4 day shipping I should have had it by now. But the status states order placed. No shipping yet. I did email twice. Was checking to see if anybody else had this problem. I'm in Pennsylvania.

      Yeah! Been in the GTA for 20 something years.
      There’s a couple spots you could check out, but your best bet I think is still purchasing something online as most of the popular companies are outside of Canada. Check out Luxe hiking gear, pomoly, one tigress, there’s a few other popular companies that have reasonable prices, if you want higher quality products look into winnerwell, or seek outside.

    How far is the stove of the ground? And away from the inner tent fabric? I've been thinking about buying that stove, but the ground clearance might be an issue for me.

    • @YassinHM
      @YassinHM  3 роки тому

      Hey Michiel, thanks for showing some interest.
      The stove is about 6 inches give or take above the ground, there’s enough room to put wood underneath for drying purposes. The clearance from the inner tent is about 1ft if you have the stove door facing the inner tent and about 2ft if it’s facing away or if the side of the stove is facing the inner tent. I haven’t had a single problem with using them both, there’s enough room so that the inner will not catch on fire. Also, you can sort of move the stove away if you want to allow for more room, the stove pile will be slightly angled but it hasn’t been an issue for me. Hope this helps, happy camping Michiel!

      @@YassinHM Thanks for your quick response. For practicality reasons I'd need to raise it for another 6 or 7 inches by replacing the threaded rods. Do you think it would keep its stability combined with their snow plate? They're basically my only 2 concerns with this stove.

    • @YassinHM
      @YassinHM  3 роки тому

      @@Jonsoh811 if you can find the right length of threaded rod and that it’s the correct placement of threading, then sure! Keep in mind the higher the stove is the less you’ll actually feel the heat if you’re on the ground as heat rises. I found this to be a problem and actually lowered my stove by pressing it into the ground more and raised my height by using a cot for winter camping, this way the heat rises from the stove and you actually feel it. If you manage to get the right kind of rods and you use their base or a similar base that threads into the legs or locks into them, then I don’t see a problem at all it should hold up just fine.

    • @Jonsoh811
      @Jonsoh811 3 роки тому +1

      @@YassinHM Thanks again for the response. The correct thread placement will be the hardest part, but I want to raise it combined with the snow bed to use it on a reflective tent floor/sides. Distributing way more of the heat radiation, especially on the lower area of the tent.

    Wouldn’t you rather have the stove oriented facing the inner, so you can tend to it without having to come out and around from the inner?
    That’s how I had mine.

    • @YassinHM

      Or perhaps I moved it out the way just to make for some room I forget now 😂 but yeah certainly I had it faced towards the inner at night, the glow from the fire creates nice ambiance too, check out my other video where I put colour flame in it!

    Hey guys: This tent is not robust at all. My Mega Horn ripped on day four. The company said I set it up wrong and did nothing. Look for a tent with ripstop material not the 68 d polyester they use. Make this a hard pass.

    • @YassinHM
      @YassinHM  3 роки тому +4

      Sorry to hear that, I hope you can still patch it up or something but yeah it’s harder. Actually, only the mega horns are made of material that is NOT rip stop, all of their other tents are made of a rip stop nylon including the octopeak. And yeah overtensioning the guy lines is the number one problem with these tents, I’ve over tensioned my octopeak very tight and it hasn’t ripped on me yet, but definitely proper setup is key.
      Check out the octopeak tipi it’s spacious and rip stop which is why I got it otherwise I would’ve gotten a mega horn as well!
      Hope this clarifies, good luck friend.

      It just might. 🤔

    • @YassinHM
      @YassinHM  2 роки тому +1

      You might have some issues with ur head hitting the mesh, depending on how thick ur mattress is, if it’s like mine which is about 2 inch thick then you should be good I think… don’t take my word on it best to check their website for it’s exact dimensions. But yeah the wall slopes inward so if it’s too thick ur head will hit the mesh.

    • @YassinHM

      Pretty durable, check out the other video on my channel you can see it holding up to pretty heaving rain and winds. Will sag eventually and will need readjusting of your lines if there's a lot of snow. Not to mention I've had a few mishaps lighting fires in the tent and its handled sparks amazingly for the type of Ultralight sil-Nylon that it is.
