My Interview with Naoki Yoshida - ENDWALKER PREVIEW!

- During the endwalker media tour I had the honor and privilege to once again interview Naoki Yoshida, beloved producer of the critically acclaimed MMORPG FFXIV. Thanks to the ongoing worldwide pandemic, this media tour was conducted digitally and our interview was done over voice chat. I was buddied up with the great Larryzaur for questions and if you’d like to see Larry’s questions and answers, click here: • Yoshida Interview | SM...
Unfortunately due to time constraints and the limitations of the digital media tour, we werent able to ask as many questions this year. Nonetheless, I hope you’ll gain more insight into the workings of Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker. - Ігри
Yoshida is GOAT. This is like, the seventh interview video I have seen from him in like, 3 days.
Supposedly he did about 30 something interviews that whole day with groups of 2 per interview. Like this one is Larryzsaur and Mizzteq
I'm stunned at how generous he is with his time, we all know he's working nonstop, but to take so much time out for NA content creators is on another level.
@@BingQiuSupremacy This is actually part of his job. The media tour in its entirety is his responsibility.
@@roastpork5437 The thing you're forgetting here is that they made the media tour, with him choosing to make sure it was handled the way it should be. It's not like there's some overlord who made the media tour and he's just clocking in for the day.
@@roastpork5437 Yeah this is not a requirement for his job lmfao.
the guy is just a breath of fresh air.
He really is. Coming from WoW, and Ion being so robotic during every interview. Yoshi-p is amazing.
@@marks2807 fellow wow refugee
@@marks2807 welcome to eorzea fellow gamers, i hope you enjoy your stay, lets have fun!
@@BeliasLP I have actually been in Eorzea since the beginning of Shadowbringers, but thank you. Though I'm not brand new to FF14 I still was a WoW refugee at one point being I gave that game at least a decade of my life.
Square Enix is like the new rising underdog, I wish for them to be successful for all their endeavours. Keep it up guys!
Really miss your content for Endwalker so far but I hope you're enjoying it!
SCH main complaint they are being neglected due to new Sage job
Bard main: "first time?"
I remember the "They took our Job" memes with bard.
@Nick Jordan Don't worry. Play enough MMOs for long enough, and you'll see some truly dumb stuff.
Let's be real, the real MVP here is Aimi, who is doing such a great job at translating what are really difficult niche topics.
Thank you for sharing the actual video, Mizzteq! As someone who's worked as a Japanese - English interpreter I find it really useful to be able to hear exactly what Yoshi-P said, because it's murder doing it in real time for hours on end and Aimi (naturally) messes up from time to time. Don't get me wrong, she does a tremendous job - a much better job than I would do -,it's just that it's a lot easier to translate without having to do everything in-real time.
So, I have some nuggets here that might be useful to your viewers:
1. Aimi wasn't able to properly convey the meaning about the question on healer DPS rotation being too simple. That's why Yoshida seemed kind of confused at first. He didn't get that people were complaining about the DPS rotation being too simple. It appears his idea was that people wanted the healers to do more healing - which *is* another complaint often leveled at the jobs. So he was like "wait, don't people want to be more busy healing instead of attacking"? Unclear if he is aware that the perception among many longtime healers is that their jobs have had their dps rotation "dumbed down", so to speak. Fortunately, he did provide an answer complete enough that the points you raised in your question were covered.
2. With the final question, on delaying Savage, the problem here was the word used, "tier." A tier is, generically speaking, a level, but the way it's used in the English speaking FF community is to refer to each set of 4 boss encounters. So the set of four boss encounters in each even numbered patch is a "tier" over here, right? Well, Aimi translated "tier" as "sou" which is a possible translation for the word "tier," but it's normally used by the Japanese FF community to refer to a boss encounter *itself* . Each savage "set" (tiers, in English) is said to have 4 "sou" (encounters) in Japanese. So that's why Yoshida was so confused, why he thought you were talking about a one week delay between each boss encounter in each tier - and that's why his answer was so short once she corrected herself.
Hope this was helpful.
Interesting insights. thank you
He did go in about the dps later. And also from other interviews as well. While there is a vocal base that might complain a lot of people that play casually do not. they do not come to reddit or even watch these interview vids. 2.6 million people are playing at the moment, but these videos like max out around 100k views. So that is what they have to include as well. And ineed there is a part of the player base that just want to to heal more. And the barrier to healing aka one class that less people plays need to not be too high. If it was then roulete ques and other ques would start to be murdered.
@@NathanWubs there going to be murdered if the long time players, like myself, say fck this boring sht and stop healing entirely
I think wrt to the healer part, they use movement to increase difficulty, and need to use mitigation as ways to increase some complexity for healers...
I think even as long time player, while dps rotation can be simple, the higher complexity in movement for raid encounter, and usage of ogcds for higher difficulty content makes it feels challenging.
Honestly having some downtime during the raid is still okay as u have other things instead. I really dont want a cleric stance thrown in..
@@rektl2036 raid is under 1% of the games content. The rest of the time healing and dpsing is boring af particularly on scholar
The work you've done for this media tour, and all the guides you do for the community are just fantastic. Thank you for all you do for the community!
Thank you for caring about asking for a healer question, you are so amazing
As someone who swaps between tank and healer, it is important to ask, but their answer is quite interesting and I am fine doing more GCD heals as we have more GCD healing options than damage
@@LashNSmash I 100 percent agree. Sometimes I found myself in Shadowbringers going like...oh we all got hurt? K I guess I'll pick...that healing spell I guess lol? So many to choose from makes it kinda like "Oh...another healing spell...yay?"
I would say that... Healers are more popular than tanks. There wasn't a single question about DRK for example, and his combo 1-2-3 for 3 years.
Seems like his response about healers seemed to be a bit of a lie, sadly.
thank you for asking more healer agency mizzteq, we got the same answer as usual but its important to let them know players want more variance in healer gameplay
As a SCH main, this was a insightful interview and yea though I was bummed with how things were presented in the Job Actions trailer debut and how things were phrased, but I didn't expect YoshiP to apologize, he and the Dev team and Comms team work hard enough that even if it felt like a diss I wasn't gonna stay bothered by it, they were genuinely chuckling and enjoying themselves on stream and I can only imagine how rare those moments are for them with the schedule they adhere to. I'd gladly trade my pride as a SCH for them to enjoy themselves like that while engaging with the community. I'd make that trade any day of the week, the Devs and the wider XIV team have more than earned that much at least. In my view. I'd even go so far as to say that I would rather have SCHs clunkiness if it meant they could have more moments like that. I know those aren't exactly the parameters of the situation but if they ever were I'd make those trades any day of the week. I say that as a SCH main who fell in love with SCH back in FFXI.
My rambling aside thanks for the awesome video and I'm happy for you and your team's success with your channel. Always been a fan of your guides as far back as your 2.x content guides. Keep up the good work and hope you and yours are staying safe out there. Be well.
"Rest assured I have not been getting any sleep."
It shows Yoshi P. Lol please take care of yourself. We've waited this long. We can wait a bit longer for you to get a nap in.
Couple the end of Endwalker development with him double dipping as the FFXVI producer... and I admit to having concerns for the man. He's a rockstar, but I do worry about him.
@@ErikTaylor He's also on the Board of Directors for SE, though I suspect that role is mainly him going "You touch my game, I will burn it all to the ground." and making the others just sit back and reap the benefits.
The intelligence flashed in that answer is so telling.
To paraphrase "You may rest knowing...I have not been getting any rest."
It's warm, smart and funny.
Classic Yoshi-P!!!
Thank you so much Mizzteq! A lot of us are still worried about Scholar but the good news is Yoshida at least knows we're concerned and might make adjustments before the raiding tier comes out.
Thank you for asking about SCH specifically!
You and Larry had a good bunch of questions! Great job on this media tour 🤘
I greatly appreciate the added effort you put in to caption/subtitle this interview!
Would have love some background musique to make it to cozy
Stoked MTQ did this interview. The guides are always exceptional. Good stuff
First interview out of this bunch that asked intelligent, succinct questions. Well done.
Thank you for your work for the FF14 community. Much appreciated. You've gotten me through a lot of fights.
MTQ!!! Man been watching your vids for years !! Thank you so much!! Its been a great journey
Great interview and great questions MTQcapture. Really appreciate your content and you have been my lifesaver this past year since I've started FFXIV with your guides. Just wanted to say thank you =-) and can't wait for your Endwalker content
Thank you for asking about healers. I just want miasma 2 and shadow flare back.
Also it's official. Yoshida is a dancer main. He danced around the Scholar question like a champ.
Awesome Mizzteq, that must have been a wonderful experience ! Cheers !
Thank you for asking the healer question. My two desires for EW was Holy II and Aero III returning. I got one of my requests, at least.
Really great questions! Thank you for representing the community :).
Mizzteq asking the big questions - by far my favorite of all the interviews I've seen. Thanks for focusing on healers and Ultimate, much appreciated even if the answers weren't exactly what most of us wanted to hear.
OMG i love this interview and the questions you asked.. thank you!

Thanks Mizzteq! 100% the go-to-channel for FFXIV!

Great job, as always.
Great seeing MTQ all smiles during the interview!
Heck ya Mizz always does a great interview
Really good Interview! I loved it!
Thank you for looking out for us healer mains ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The subtitles are a great touch
Nice interview. Thank you for the subtitles as well Mizz I know it took some extra work to make sure we got the info and I appreciate it!
Very good questions, thanks!
The problem with SCH is not just that it's not new; it is that the three kits they have all interfere with one another and are extremely clunky to use.
Running through MSQ on EW and struggling on a trial and came to find your guide as I have so so so many times! Hope all is well!
By far the most interesting questions I've seen thus far in any of the interviews. Thank you Mizzteq great work!
Damn how does she only have 181k subs?? We gotta pump those numbers up! 😤 She makes the best guides ever!
I mean, I get it. With that the healer question, because at the end of the day, the devs are going to have to make content that reaches all types of players if not the majority. And given the sheer amount of healers I have played with in the past several months, most of them (sadly) like nothing more to do than heal; and not even with their full kits at that! I feel like if the overall playerbase was notably different, so too would healers be. But until then, a vocal minority (that I, too, am a part of) won't be enough to change the current healer mentality.
Anyway, Mizzteq I really appreciate you asking the question along with the SCH one as well; the other interviews are nice and all, but I think you mentioned issues that are quite notable; super appreciative that if anything, you've brought them to Yoshida's attention, even if he was aware already.
The thing that doesn't make sense to me is if they want to cater to the casual healer who wants to focus on healing more, then why do DPS windows keep getting larger for healers? If you want healers to heal more and DPS less, taking away their buttons doesn't change that. Increasing the frequency of damage and reducing the volume and/or power of OGCD healing is how you allow players to heal more. With each expansion, though, damage frequency lowers, and healers get even more powerful OGCD heals. If we want to appeal to the casual healer, we're not doing that right either.
Also, I don't know where this idea that you have to choose between the casual and veteran players is coming from. You can have healing be forgiving and approachable while still offering a higher skill floor for more experienced players to express themselves with.
@@Orih9 It's not just healers getting that stuff, too. Almost every tank and many DPS got new mitigation and healing buttons, which adds to the whole struggle. I would be fine with it, but I think the best solution across all item levels is adding more DPS buttons, so that when you DO have long periods of time where you don't need to heal, at least it's entertaining to deal damage.
@@renycilfay3993 The problem is that such downtime is only there at a particular skill level. Lower skilled healers ARE healing all the time. This is actually where the entire problem arises. High end groups want more healer DPS because more DPS equals faster and easier clears. They’ve already mastered mitigation and healing. But to the low skill players, they don’t have any Windows to DPS, because they’re already burnt out trying to keep people alive. If you make it so the high tier players have to heal constantly, no one else will be able to finish the content at all.
@@Skyblade12 I don't think that's true, and even if it were, I don't think it causes those players any grief for the occasion in which you do to simply be better designed than spamming one button.
@@renycilfay3993 I’m not so sure. Players tend to use what’s available to them. Think of the Freecure trap. If you give them a full DPS rotation, they may feel obliged to use it (not to mention, that may bloat their bars if they have all the DPS skills plus heals). I’m not saying this is the case either (though I do know that my healing can be pushed to its limits at times), but that these are the sorts of things that Yoshi P and the dev team have to balance.
THANK YOU FOR ASKING THE HEALER QUESTION!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
Great questions Mizzteq! Personally, I would rather focus on healing, but it would be nice to have the option to dps when necessary or when soloing.
The concern from SCH mains is not that the class isn't useful or that it isn't going to get buffed, it's that the class feels super boring and the gameplay is clunky. Also that the aesthetic of the class is lackluster compared to... well all of the other classes. All of the other healers got come fun skills and abilities while scholar looks exactly the same as it did in 3.0 and plays almost exactly the same as it did in 4.0.
so much this. I may be a goddamn casual, but I don't care if the scholar becomes super useful, tops the healer dps chart, and has real strong heals in endwalker. From what we've seen so far, it hasn't changed at all, and that means it's as clunky, anti-synergistic and, as you said, lacks some sort of nice or cool identity/aesthetic. Also, instant-cast barrier when
@@GabeHighlander sch already has instant barriers
@@capo3645 maybe I should clarify, i meant a single-target barrier spell/ability without cast time
@@GabeHighlander yes they have this ability too

Nice interview! Good work
Great questions.
Absolutely insane that they organized this tbh, and very nice questions on your part, good video
I love when he smiles at the start of a translation of Miz's question (healer dps question) he smiles - the minute Aimi-san said "healer" he already knew where it was going. I love this guy lol
I do like his answer for the scholar question, though I do think the job just really needs a bigger rework to get its theme and gameplay streamlined. It just seems weird to have a pet healer who barely does anything with their pet and having a job gauge themed around that pet that only really exists for one skill. Just reworking what the fairy does, how the fairy gauge works and maybe having your aetherflow interact with that stuff would already go a long way (on top of just really nailing the visual identity of the job down as well)
Mizzteq with the hard hitting questions! 🎉
I'm happy that Scholar gets a party wide sprint buff and a +10% Max HP buff. It'll allow us further trivialize the fight. After all, the faster you get to where you need to be, the faster you win.
I feel super relieved that they touched on the lack of info on phys ranged during the live letter.
it turned out with sch's extra speed guiding them, it was whm being left behind all along
I absolutely love how they both chuckled at her cat
Your guides are the best
LARRY AT THE END 🤣
I'm really glad you asked that last question about the raid tiers but it probably would have helped a lot (and avoided some of the confusion it seemed there was) if you had explained why people might want this to begin with, which is that as things are now, it's very difficult to be someone who wants to enjoy the story with the rest of the community when it comes out, and also be in the world first race. Those who are trying to get world first have to skip all cutscenes in normal mode so they can rush through their clears in order to unlock savage, and if they care about MSQ, avoid MSQ spoilers until their group gets its Savage clears. By not releasing Savage until a week later, that would give them enough time to do MSQ alongside the rest of the community, enjoy the story of the normal mode raids, and still participate in the World First race without having to sacrifice those things.
i didn't understand the question or the answer until I read your comment.
thank you for asking about the healer changes. scholar has been gutted so bad since stormblood it does feel bad to play now.
Yep MTQ love your work please keep it up :)
Remember the first time I heard MTQ and we all wondered what she looked like. Her voice definitely matches her 100%. 😁
Thank you, MTQ, this Scholar (realized the issues) but hears and understands.
As a WHM main I’m just happy Benediction remains unchanged. But I’m gonna jump straight into Sage as soon as EW goes online. Sage is exactly my play style.
Mizzteq, just wanna express appreciation you asked about Scholar.
I had no idea you were part of the media tour and I was like "damn, MTQ deserves more recognition, she's a huge part of the FFXIV comunity already". I was so happy when I discovered you were actually one of the choosen ones. You were with Larry too, that's awesome C:
Oh yeah, there were a lot involved in the media tour. The big ones like Mr.Happy, MTQ, Zepla, and Larryzaur will likely always be involved. It's crazy how close attention the devs pay to the community, because There's so many people that I've never even heard of that were part of it, so it's also a bit of bringing some of those to light too.
@@MAJICB0B Not only the UA-camrs and streamers, but naturally different media outlets too (sites, magazines,...). It's all done over a couple of weeks
mizz has been to every media tour and I think she will always invited at this point
You still going to make guides? I miss yours they're the best.
The healer dps question is interesting. I've recently gotten into Scholar because the class was described to me as "Disc-Priest but fun". I've always liked the idea of preventing damage to happen instead of cleaning up after it and once you know the fights a little you can pull off some pretty insane stuff with the Scholar, allowing you time to do some damage instead of being dependent on it, like disc is in wow.
I think both Scholar and White mage are in a pretty good place in terms of their healing Toolkit as well as being able to deal damage in any given situation, can't say much about Astrologian, haven't lookid into it yet. What worries me is that the Sage might go the way of the actual Disc Priest with his healing being fully dependant on the damage dealt, turning the Sage into the default Progress Healer because Sages deal damage on default.
Awesome
Wow, we are going to have to heal more? I seem to remember hearing this before shadowbringers as well, so it will be interesting to see how it will play out this time.
it won't. Just about all the tanks except DRK and even some DPS have gotten healing increases. They say this all the time and it never happens.
It did increase in ShB, considerably in some dungeons. You won't notice it today, however, because of the item level, but back during early access and the first couple of release weeks the players were still running at more-or-less minimum item level for the dungeon runs. Combine that with more casual players and some dungeons like Malikah's Well was a very stressful healing experience. Not always, but often enough that I dreaded it. MW was like Bardam's Mettle 2.0. x_x
@@FrazzleCat I guess I sort of remember that but it was really only that dungeon where I noticed it.
We did heal more than we ever had to in Stormblood, and especially Heavensward. But the issue is more on how fucked the players' perception of the situation is. No matter how much they increase it, it will be easier in the future, and then players forget and act like it's been easy a long. Even though not too long ago, they complained that Hades was too hard to heal, the Emperor was hard to heal, Emerald auto attacks too hard, Diamond is hard to heal, every single time.
@@dangerwarg9682 Exactly this. Now casual groups blow through it like the old content that it is. Honestly I've had a crazy idea for awhile that they could remove item level completely and auto sync content much the same way that Unreals are synced. Granted, this little wet dream of mine was fueled by yet another undergeared tank.
good questions as a healer main 👍
Endwalker Extreme guide(s) when? ♥
Thanks for asking a couple healer questions. I love Yoshi P, but I feel like the dev team just... doesn't know what to do with healers?
You know Aimi must have been so tired having to translate both ways.
Doing it for so many interviews all day too.
Compared to Rich and Asmon's this was a walk in the park
They both truly looked exhausted by the time they got to the Jesse Cox, and JP interview.
Idk if it's her or a translator thing, but wow, I dont think I could even repeat a paragraph from someone word for word like she does, even in the SAME language, and here she is translating it!
@@kitten1591 that's the thing it's not word for word. It doesn't work like that. She makes notes and paraphrase the most important talking points with the proper context or humor if needed. That isn't easy especially on laguagues like English and Japanese that don't have ad verbatim translations.
Is it just me or does Yoshi-P seem like he understands a pretty good bit of English?
He's fluent, but there's a few reasons he prefers to use a translator. 1.) He's not the MOST confident in his skills so he likes a translator to make sure he catches the whole question and 2.) it gives him more time to carefully think through his response. And 3.) He wants to make sure English audiences can understand him as he's aware he has a heavy Japanese accent.
@@Varizen87 It also helps any Japanese media/creators/fans who are watching these for information to have a translator instead of having Yoshi-P just answer right away.
@@Lumenadducere Right, that's a fair point that I forgot to mention. The Japanese audience needs the English questions translated for expedience.
In one of his talks, he said that he understands most of the English being spoken to him
That's how you adapt to new languages, your hearing comprehension catches on more quickly than speaking it. Same with me when learning English, my comprehension is better than when speaking it, same with my Korean and Japanese, it's just the environment, if you don't get to actually speak it all the time, it is very hard to improve or it degrades.
Succor changed to 200 healing + 160% shield (320 pot) is huge. Deploy works instantly, less janky fairy. SCH will still remain very strong while having less issues.
MTQ You're a LEGEND! HOW THE HELL????? Did you get the FFXIV Creator and director to agree to an interview? How does he even know who you are?
Not afraid of the hard hitting questions!
The cat getting lifted off lmfao
omg i have been watching mtqcapture for years and did not even notice i was not subbed wtf i even suggest her to all my friends for the best guides on ffxiv raids and stuff lol
/bow to yoshi and MTQ.
I never understood the Scholar thing because even with its quirks it’s still incredibly powerful now. The media tour info shows that Scholar will continue to be incredibly powerful but Sage is a brand new shiny job in the same role with many comparable abilities so it was going to stand out.
It’s good old playground rules “I want that thing just cause someone else has”
The other healers got flashy new animations, and Scholars sibling job Summoner got a massive rework, so Scholar came out flat looking in comparison. But that’s the key word, “looking”. If the new attacks animations were more flashy you can bet there would be little disappointment
Because theres a very good difference between SCH being "powerful" with using energy drain and SCH feeling good to play or working synergistically. A lot of SCH's current kit fights itself like Dissipation or the Seraph. Add in the fact that Energy Drain uses up aetherflow possibly needed to heal and the fairy pets like to wait before doing anything you tell them and many many Scholars feel pretty crappy.
And as one last bit, to salt the wounds for a lot of folks, SCH's new capstone Expediant doesn't look flashy or feel like it does much at all. Where Sage gets a flashy attack that also heals and provides the same amount of mitigation as Expediant.
Its less about it being powerful, more that it's not in a good place right now feel-wise. People were hoping Endwalker would help fix those problems like Shadowbringers largely fixed White Mages Stormblood pains.
I don't play anymore, but when I was a healer, I liked actually spending my time healing, hence why I didn't pick a DPS job. Nonetheless, I was forced to DPS during extreme trials & 8 man raids. MP management while I make sure I keep people alive is one of the things I find the most fun.
YAAAAAAA MTQ
Your interview cadence is the exact same as your guide cadence it hit me some weird dejavu
If I could give you 1mil likes so you could get that UA-cam Trophy and plaque on the wall of fame at their HQ, I so would. you SAVED my entire Shadow Bringers game. So I am watching all your End Walker videos ahead of time. Thank you for all your effort and hard work helping random players who maybe like me never played any Final Fantasy going into FF14. But that's me! So again, I do thank you so much. I would like to know if you plan on doing Soul Reaper or Sage? It would be a hilarious jab if you played one of them as a male Vera! xD . LoL. Why is a part of the community upset about Vera having a male gender added for that race choice?
lmao muting her mic before questions is very much a mizzteq thing to do 😅😆 love Yoshida's reaction
This is such an important issue.
Vet players don't seem to understand the concept of differences in potency based on ilvl for people who are just leveling up vs people who are running roulette. The expectation that all healers or tanks for that matter have gear that can handle multi-pulls without even checking is one a small point of toxicity in the game. In most cases, people leveling a job/roll for the first time will
1) lack overall experience
2) not be as familiar with that particular dungeon
3) have a hodge podge of gear accumulated through leveling that may span as many as 10 levels for accessories.
The issue is exacerbated in the first few dungeons of a new expansion compared to the endgame dungeons of the prior expansion. It's especially noticeable starting at Bardam's Mettle and onward in Stormblood and starting at Holminister's Switch in Shadwobringers with the latter example being much more pronounced.
Ultimiately people need to do a better job if using their words to communicate their comfort or discomfort as they progress through a dungeon with each party. Tanks shouldn't feel pressure to multi-pull without ever communicating with their healer. And healers shouldn't be using rescue to try to speed tanks up, especially when they've not attempted a more polite method of communication.
Geezus Yoshi please take care of your health and get some sleep! D: lol
Healer discussions always are pretty disappointing; but it is nice to at least hear what we pretty much assumed was the case when they made the decisions from ShB and onward.
Really not much I expect to help the issues people have with healing at the moment, but I do at least expect a small ; if brief, bump to available healers with SGE.
cant wait to make a cut from "healers find dpsing can be a bit boring, will dps skills be expanded or will content require more healing?" to an endwalker raid where there are 40 circles, a stack marker, and a tank buster happening all at the same time
Where the guides at! lol.
Does anybody know if there's a way to buy a replica of the painting on the left?
check official store :)
It's interesting that the term in the foreign language is still just 'DPS'
Niaaaannn! Let me talk lady! :D lol
Honestly, my biggest problem as a healer main in FF14 is that I feel like the need for me to even be there is artificial.
What I mean is, in many fight the damage I can actually heal against feels scripted and unavoidable, like a "still awake?" check for healers, and the other mechanics are nearly insta kills.
In Savage fights, I feel like either my healing is not enough or absolutely not needed, depending on how well the DPS and Tanks do their jobs, and in between are just the attention checks. I had so many fights where a Paladin or Gunbreaker could just take over my job in Dungeons that I often wonder "Why am I even here?"
I feel like they're dancing around the issue.
Yes, clearing savage fights late into the tier means you spam your one attack spell a million times. But that's exactly the problem: adding more attack spells would not make your damage rotation harder, it'd just make it more varied!
Yes, maybe they weren't super clear surrounding some of the classes' new features and whatnot. But that was never the problem: Scholar just flat out got 1 sort of maybe sometimes useful ability. WHM and AST got a bunch of really cool looking and uniques abilities, when they were already strong favourites. Regardless of numbers or viability, SCH *feels* like they're just leaving it behind, that's what they need to address and change.
Like, a good way to do what they said they should do (communicate some of the utility a class is getting even if it means getting into numbers) would have been to announce that fairies are now a lot more responsive (maybe). Like seriously every SCH main would have been satisfied with just that.
So what it seems like is that Sage got alot of unique fun tools that make their healing more varied or more involved. so having a complex damage rotation may feel difficult to manage ontop of a complex healing kit, so its just a matter of making the other healers feel complex/rewarding in their healing kit. or giving them more varied damage buttons
There always someone that's going to find it hard, we still do, and there's like 2 buttons lmao.
They also removed the ONLY OTHER ABILITY that utilized the Fey Gauge. The tether is so frustrating to manage during some fights due to movement since the fairy doesn't move to stay in range of the target. After Dissipation the fairy doesn't respawn in the same location it was (If you had it on stay for example), at least I don't believe they adjusted that... I just want more use of the fairy :( Let Seraph use gauge for something? Maybe give us back Selene's aoe cleanse? The new things don't need to be super shiny or amazing looking, but I want to feel like I'm working towards *something*. Sage gets Pneuma, WHM has Misery, AST has their new seal based buff & previously had Divination. SCH has a set cooldown on Seraph, no work required, no gauge needed... The new ability just doesn't feel earned either. It's just another button basically for free.
Fairy utility (esp fairy gauge) and something bigger to work towards are the things I just really miss on SCH compared to the others :(
@@TheDaisukeMiyuki Honestly, things like adding a few damaging oGCD on a 30-60s cooldown would spice things up.
If your team needs healing and it comes off cooldown you prioritize healing, but you still get to use it later.
And the better you get at the fight, the more you can play around those cooldowns coming back.
I think it'd be important for these abilities to be usable whenever so there's no sense of urgency to use them, while still allowing for some skill expression.
@@LordPlagus777 well unfortunately, the game and developers are going to balance around the middle to low spec of skill. But clearly with sage. Their healing kit is much more unique than other healers, and that shows to me personally: that the devs are willing to go hard in complexity if theres trade offs
LARRY LMAO
Something more speciifc RE: Scholar I would have liked to have been brought up is that SCH got no real variation in their DPS actions, while WHM has lily and AST gets the new redone Crown thing as well as a few minor bursts of DPS via Earthly Star and that new skill they have. Meanwhile Scholars basically only have their dot.
I feel like a change to Energy Drain would have been nice. Thats technically our "variation" in DPS, like SGE is getting Toxikon and Phlegma.
SCH have energy drains
@@archon5878 They technically did change it... It now doesen't replenish mana.
@@emilsoderman3691 that really isn't what I meant by a change
@@archon5878 its not what id want certainly. Sonething like spend fairy gauge for an aoe damage centered on the fairy, or spend aetherflow and get a semi-big finisher would be nice
