      I remember getting greifed by Healers when I first started Tanking. It used to get so bad I started to run mobs into them, but now you can't because you can get banned for doing that. Warrior was my first class when I started before Healers made me switch to DPS.

    Just hearing Yoshida's voice utter 信用できない (cannot trust that person) has nuance tone in it that shows he too gets griefed by raid members. Might not be as bad as Corey but I think he identifies with your plight lmao

      yeah its great to see a developer that understands and is in tune with the playerbase like when he talked about macroing atherial manipulation or the aura effect on greased lightning. It shows that yoship plays the game like we do.

    DRAK! BRO! Those monk questions were legit and you were able to explain it to Yoshi P and he 100% understood the direction you're coming from and the quality of life improvements you were hoping they'd look at. Loved his reactions as he understood your questions because it feels like he's been there and felt it.

    Is not that the other influencers asked bad questions, but I think so far this was the most fun to watch so far and one of the most meaningful questions and discussions. You can clearly see that Yoshi-p understand exactly what you're saying. not only that but we get to see a bit of how he thinks when it comes down to balance a class and how good does x and y buttons of it feel. very good job with the questions! I can see all monk mains greatly benefiting from this conversation, even if its not EXACTLY what it was discussed here, it really feels like the dev team would try to do something to deal with the problems and suggestions you've discussed.

    I think for the Chakra situation, if they maxed it out to 10 stacks ONLY during Brotherhood, during that time any stacks after 5 would be purple(or some variant of a color other than yellow), that way it would help the situation if overflow. While Brotherhood is on CD max stacks would be 5.

    Listening to what Yoshi-p said made me realize that a "Bloodfest" type skill for Monks chakra would be a great addition and help stop the wastage of brotherhood in high lvl content

    At 3:20 you can REALLY see Drak struggling through the PTSD of losing his stacks during idle phases and he had to get them all back. His expression screams "MAN THAT WAS SOME BRUTAL STUFF"
    Good on you Drak for being a monk main through all the good times and bad. Yoyr experience as a monk has made me try it out and I am loving it. Thanks for the awesome video!

      He probably knows something we dont on the backend. For example they reduced ROF from 25% to 15%. They had to have known that most likely with this new Beast Gauge on top of our Chakra Gauge with an extra 25% and the 10% from Fist of Fire, we would be putting out Sam/Blm levels of Dps during our Burst Phases . Had to keep us in line

      Why? Even if you are watching on DPS meters statistics. If you go between different weeks you will see all jobs change position for best and worst DPS (except Black mage that is on top all the time and Summoner that is bottom all the time). Most of the time unfortunately easier jobs like Samurai stay higher, but it is more like because they are easy. I can agree that at this point jobs like monk, ninja and some of the other jobs need too much effort to keep up their dps compared to other jobs, so improvement on that may be needed.

      @@AlexStayFly20 you don't calculate dps properly. There is DPS made by the character itself, where summener is fine. On other hand there is damage that the party created because of your buffs. If you add the dps from physical ranged, they are pretty better, except machinist that I hope will take some buff as summoner for the next expansion.

    I mean what the hell, like I admit I don't follow many other games as closely as I do FF14, but in what world does a lead dev on a huge game sit down with fans/content creators and really engage and make them feel listened to like this, Yoshi is just awesome and Drak, coming from another Monk main you did a great job here

    Good interview. 👍 One question I was hoping to hear about was Yoshi P's thought on Anatman, where he was fine on how it currently works or open to suggestions on improvements (like resetting perfect balance stacks out of combat), and also about the optimal rotation theorized that you want to PB 20ish seconds before boss pull.

      Since they've been apparently watching my content and our interactions around MNK, I figured we could keep that to another discussion to see what we could do with it. Right now, being that Anatman is useless, it hurts nothing 'cuz we can just leave it off our bars. That's why I opted to other parts of MNK that I felt were more pressing. Anatman can wait imo.

    Drak, with the chakra overcap instead of overcapping they could just make TFC a seperate button from meditate.
    TFC can now be used with 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 chakra. With potency ranging from 74 for 1 chakra to 370 for 5.
    Overcapping might still happen in small cases but it would solve a lot of issues where you can jsut press it at 4 chakra for no loss. you could press before a disconnect and have 5 gauranteed meditates to make up for it's lack of ranged attack.

    As another long time mnk main since HW I really appreciate the questions you asked. The only thing I would have liked to hear more about (even just from your perspective) is how the removal of raptor form positionals feels/why they picked raptor instead of a different form.
    Awesome to see him really considering the chakra overcapping, it's really the only thing that feels "bad" right now to me even though it's pretty minor.

    I think it just goes a long way to show (what Yoshi P and the rest of the dev team are doing) that they actually care. It something a lot of games can't seems to do. But it feels nice that he seem to really be thinking about your question. Giving you actual answers even tho one was a "no." But it wasn't a half assed no neither. That just some good charisma Yoshi got.

    It's nice he's thinking over the options for Thunderclap. I do appreciate that the main movement skill is detached from damage so we can use it exclusively for that purpose. But speaking as someone who plays on a controller, by the time I get to the person in the party list I want to move to, I've lost all the benefit of the skill, and really only get to use it to move back to an enemy rather than being able to use to to move to a party member.
    I also am glad you talked about bringing the chakra cap up. I'm not sure we need 10 chakras, but it feels like it would be more consistent with the lore of the job if we could bank 7 of them at any given time would go a long way to solving the issue, but would need to get the job gauge redesigned, so I get your point there. Also if they're doing anything with the job gauge, would be great if we could repurpose the old greased lightning part of the gauge to show the timer for disciplined fist.

    I know that Ms. Aimi has been receiving praises non-stop the past few days due to her smooth translation, but THIS interview really shows how extremely capable she is. Man, all those questions about specific skill sets and mechanics.
    This really proves that she did her researches, and at the very least played the game, too.

    Thanks for asking about BotD and GL aura. I feel like they could easily make MNK have the story Mnk's green aura during Riddle of Wind, and drg could have the BotD aura while they have 1 or 2 eyes but have not yet entered Life.

    He actually convinced me on the gap closer that it's better targeted. Considering I'd probably be using it while in the middle of hitting positionals I probably WOULD screw up the direction of the gap closer vs targeting another party member and just having the game position me that way.

    I actually like that the Gap Closer is targeted. So when pre-planned you can just macro a person you know will stand in the safe zone, so during an AoE you can squeeze out the maximum time on the boss before you dash away, and then dash back to the boss. Or you mouseover someone when done reactively. That sounds really fun to me :D

      Wasn’t so much asking for it as I was coming to him with a potential solution, not just a problem. It shows that I’ve given the issue some thought, even if I don’t understand what is required to make it happen. I mean, how could I? But he was still really receptive and wanted to find a solution that would work for them to help us. Don’t forget that part.

      @@DrakGamestein Don't worry it was just a joke, in the history of this game MNK always seemed to be the challenging Melee class of all the available ones. Leaving always something imperfect to let players find ways to optimize with practice. Thou we always know thru multiple games this never translate ways when it comes to picking meta since sometimes even the most safe classes tend to be more favoured. A similar case happenned in MH since World series with switch axe changes for example, where they wanted a powerful but imperfect ability thru the need to charge up sword to now do phial damage, similar issues to MNK history the class fails to get perfect oportunities to do the optimized DPS like other weapons which is a theme on the transformable weapons.
      If the game devs envisions an imperfect to optimize class with huge damage on paper like MNK or BLM, he can solve the issue mentioned but what else will he put for keeping that feel of inconvenience to overcome since chakra replaces grease lightning on the MNK main's burden? After all making a perfect rotation for MNK would betray its main premise... insane DPS with really good fight knowledge, muscle memory, class habits and a really good pull on the boss but it's not guaranteed to happen all the time. Yoshi P is a man who works endlessly to try to make a game that pleases absolutely everyone he can, so i don't think his answer was a flat no but rather that it easier said than done and it will take a lot of looking design and general playerbase behaviour to make changes like that since anything covers casuals, newbies, veterans, hardcore meta or just guys who want to challenge themselves.
      TL:DR edit, basically what im trying to summarize is that MNK has been eased a lot of things, he's possibly thinking that if we solve this issue we might need another necessary evil in the mix or the class will lose interest and that takes more effort to think than the fix.

    about the aura thing the same i though about dragons blue thing, like the first opening of the dragoon eye can make you go blue, before blood of the dragon goes red.

    I think a different aura for each stance we're in might be cool too, like red for opo", yellow/orange for coeurl, rainbow in form shift(?) etc

      I would have loved to time them better but, being as I don't speak Japanese, I didn't want to paraphrase to the point where the meaning was lost. It's not a perfect format but this way I was able to keep the overall video shorter and to the point. I also expected people to make use of the pause function in the video when watching if they needed parts to slow down. Or changing the playback speed if needed.

    I feel like my ideal change for Chakras overcapping, 'cause you can REALLY see Yoshi P thinking that one over, is basically: You can open up to 5 on your own, crit skills and out of combat meditation. Then, Brotherhood procs that would take you over 5 chakras instead either like... change a chakra's color, or light them on fire or something, visually, and now count for 2. Then your next Forbidden Chakra cast leaves you with the 'ignited' chakras, which lose their VFX, so basically you have a limited ability to go over in specifically situations where it's possible. You can't do it on purpose to save chakras for a burst window, so it's still a weave you're forced to mash as it comes up, which I think is important to its identity and part of the fun, but it keeps you from feeling like you're wasting it.
    Also please let in-combat ticks of Anatman do the same thing, then this button has a purpose, and kind of a cool one at that.

    I do think one item that would have been good to bring up regarding the blm aetherial manipulation is that BLM can pre position itself in a way to best deal with mechanics at an optimal level, so it's already kind of prepared to avoid mechanics, however a monk has to stand in melee range, which means their position is dictated by the boss position instead. This means movement requirements for a monk are different, because like a BLM can pre position for say cleavers and continue DPS, but a monk has to manually run out which is an entirely different experience. Additionally BLMs ability to slide cast also means that their manipulation can trigger before a mechanic goes off. Additionally blm don't have to be concerned about things like positionals, which Monk generally DOES, which is an added thing to keep track of along with group positioning for safely teleporting out.
    Monks are already a highly mobile job, so the idea that having to face a direction to decide where to dive seems kind of irrelevant for a job that already has up till not required alot of movement for positionals to begin with.

      Thank you!!! I’ve been screaming this since the job actions trailer. No reason for it to need a target requirement and it just makes you have 4 separate buttons for 1 skill on controller. There’s 1000 downsides to it working like this, and no positives. It’s needlessly clunky and limiting.
      Also, what if I just wanna dash around for fun? What if I’m doing a fate and I just wanna feel like goku for a second, and dash *around* an enemy instead of at it?

    I think they're looking at the brotherhood issue all wrong, instead of focusing on how it gives Chakra, why not simply make it so that during Brotherhood, you can use Forbidden Chakra (and w/e) without needing chakra similar to how Inner Release makes your Beast Gauge skills not spend any gauge? If they needed to, they could put a very tiny cooldown on just that which wouldn't matter outside of that phase anyway since you'd need to build up Chakra before using it again.

    His answer for the monks new dash made no sense. How could just pointing your character in any direction and pressing a button be slower than cycling through an 8 man party list for a specific person or waiting for someone else to go where you wanna go? A dash with no targeting will always, in 100% of situations, be faster than a dash with a targeting requirement, especially on controller.

    Seems a bit ridiculous request that Thundclap be targeted and free form. Not only would that be most likely very hard to program technically, but for balance wise, it would be by far the most overpowered movement ability. I dont think this request and question was good at all. Rest of questions were good though, and was great to hear Yoshi Ps thought process behind the different monk versions.

      At that time I still wasn’t sure what to expect from the media tour and hadn’t gotten my questions written. Once I got hands-on experience with MNK, I really wanted to cover some old questions I had going in as well as new stuff that I just had experience with. Unfortunately it’s just how it works with the time constraints. My asking for ideas was still genuine, it just didn’t seem like I could go into depth about everything so I chose to focus on one area when push came to shove.

Right now, being that Anatman is useless, it hurts nothing 'cuz we can just leave it off our bars. That's why I opted to other parts of MNK that I felt were more pressing. Anatman can wait imo.

    So for the Thunderclap suggestion I also feel it might be a little clunky with an En Avant portion as you would have to deslect any target you currently have, move, Thunderclap, and then retarget. If anything it might help alleviate the issues you were having if it could move and update the players current position faster.

      Why would you have to deselect? Dragoons backflip doesn’t require that unless your hard lock targeting which you shouldn’t be doing anyway.

      Because the idea is this gap closer is multi functional based on context. If you currently have a character/enemy targeted you would teleport to them, in order to get the context for the set distance dash you would have to untarget them otherwise you would just teleport to the target.
      The only other alternatives would be a press vs hold trigger or having 2 individual buttons for the same skill that share a cooldown.

      @@azure98 or you remove the targeting aspect entirely and just let it dash depending on the direction you face your character, which is how movement abilities work in 99% of games that have them, including en avant in this very game. Your inventing solutions for a problem that doesn’t need to exist.
      The only reason reason thunderclap has a targeting requirement at all is because shoulder tackle dealt damage. It doesn’t anymore. No need for the targeting requirement.
      Edit: let’s run with your hypothetical. You need 2 buttons that share a cool down…as opposed to what? This system where you need 4? 1 for thunderclap to the enemy, and 3 macros for thunderclap to healer, DPS, and tank? The problem is worse in this system.
      This isn’t even mentioning the MYRIAD of ways and scenarios that makes this ability useless. Okay, you have a macro for the “4th” spot on your party list, usually the first healer. Cool, that healer died. 1/4th of the possible mobility of the skill is gone.
      Your in Delubrum Reginae. You wanna dash to the healer. Oops, there aren’t any in your group comp. Well, there goes that.
      Your in a PF deep dungeon. You got paired with 2 dps and a healer. No tank to dash to. There’s another useless macro and part of the skill becomes useless again.
      This is stupid. These are arbitrary issues that shouldn’t exist.

    I would not like to have an "en-avant" dash on monk. Targetting an allie would be extremely niche, and the gap closer being tied to a target allow you to pursue a dashig/teleporting ennemy even if he goes outside of your dash range with proper timing, and it wouldn't be the case anymore if it is working like en-avant.

      yeah, the monk going to a teammate/mob kinda falls in line concidering it's an dash in the end, would be weird to dash only a certain length, not a fan of monk, but you would see an full charge, not stop halfway.

      Targeting an Ally would be niche…why is that an argument for having its use be tied to in part…targeting Allies? That’s an argument FOR en avant.
      It has 3 stacks. You can cut the dash range in half and there’s no boss you cannot reach. It would work exactly the same, except people on controller wouldn’t have to wrangle with the ability to make it work at all.

      @@TheTinyTimmyTimTim Nobody would use it as a tool to reach an ally in 99% of situations. You can't double weave on monk, so you greed and dash back in. If you go to an anlly, it means you would use 2 charges or run back, and it would be a dps loss. and if the downtime is longer for the mechanic you have to doge, you would use SSS for the extra damage, and then you can easily use 2 ogcd with plenty of time and still have extra movement speed, or meditate. The use for ally dash would most likely be on "no boss to hit" situations or just outside of combat, in town, or during SSS, were even a macro would be good because you actually can press it without clipping and still use an other ogcd.
