Great video, Daru! I’ve installed many of these, and my biggest problem was always having the fixtures supported while my arms fatigued from holding them over my head. You are the only one I’ve seen so far that addressed this problem. And you did it all in under three minutes!
I agree 💯 that holding the light is the hardest part of wiring so having the wire makes it so much easier! A simple but smart idea. Glad you found it helpful. Thanks for letting me know!
Yeah, I struggled for about 30 minutes while my arms died. I feebly tried to twist it on as they shook more and more. Eventually, I got it to twist on. It randomly fell off two days later in the middle of the night. 👌🏾
I have a large fluorescent fixture in the laundry room flickering, ceiling mounted, that once I pulled the cover off has a 16 inch and a 12 inch circular tubes. The tubes were cheap enough, about 24 dollars at Home Depot. Then I started thinking well what if it is the ballast. As the lights in the house are at least 27 years old I started looking for LED replacements. Found your video with the link for the light and placed the order. You made this look so easy. Well done. Will be watched your recessed lighting video as I have about 30 lights that I want to replace with LED fixtures. Whoever built this house in 1994 really, really liked recessed lighting. They are in every room and hallway.
I’m happy you found a good solution to your lighting problem. That’s a great idea to update lighting when it’s older. Plus it’s a nice look. Thanks James! Good luck with your projects and I’m glad you’re DIYing it! 👍🏽👏🏽

Ha - we just replaced all the single bulbs in our new house with these. I got these with screw connectors. They are GREAT - Love them. Low heat low power.
Not being familiar with wiring and terrified of doing it incorrectly, I wish you were able to zoom in closer with the camera so the way everything is connected was shown larger. You made everything look so easy. Well done!
Usually being able to match the colors of the wires is the main thing, as long as the building is wired to code. Certainly there are some videos about push-in fittings. I personally only have experience with wirenuts where you twist the wires together then twist the wirenut on, both in a clockwise direction.
I agree, this video was done at lighting speed. I want to replace my chandelier for a flush light fixture, got a quote for $200! I know this job takes less than 30 minutes to do. I know this, my ex was a electrician. I’m going to keep searching for better videos. It’s a shame this channel is not geared for women that have to do it themselves.

They've saved my eyes quite a few times where I'm rushing to get things done and am like, "Oh, just one more cut at the tablesaw (or something)".... I try to always make my PPE the first priority.

This fixture is very bright and has good illumination for a medium sized room. I would check that the fixture you like has a wide angle of illumination and bright enough for your needs. Lots of options with LED. I’m sure you’ll find ones you love.
You have to replace the entire light. most have a lifespan of about 30,000 hours. Longevity is dependent upon how many hours per day you would use the light.
I prefer using ceiling fixtures that take standard bulbs. Reason is that those LED lamps may be discontinued, by the time you need to replace it (They are NOT repairable) and cause a mismatch if there are several in the same room. I use LED bulbs in the fixtures that i have, every bulb in the house.
That’s great that you’ve swapped out your bulbs for LED bulbs. It’s a great tip for making your home more energy efficient! Thanks Paul good advice! 👍🏽
I would say that the more generic or timeless fixtures should be made well into the future. So far at my place the only LED fixtures that I have multiple of inside are recessed lights, so they should keep making identical or closely matched ones forever.
Only thing about these new LED fixtures is there is no way to replace the bulbs on most of them. You'll need to replace these usually every 3-5 if you get a decent one. If you get a ton of them for your house it may be hard to find the same models again for replacements resulting in having to redo all the fixtures unless you wish to have mismatched setups.
Hi, Daru, Love your confident attitude and clear video! After seeing it I ordered the same fixture. We spent over an hour, after stuffing the old wiring clipped to new wiring up into the center space. My husband doesn't give up easily! We couldn't line it up and click it on. Is there a smart way to screw the plate in place? When he tightened the screws it didn't align right. When he loosened them to lower it a tiny bit, there was too much "play" in the way the screwed-in bracket rested in the ceiling. The fixture just refused to line up. We're 70 and we gave it our all! Thank you.
Hi Catherine, I'm sorry to hear that the fixture didn't work out for you. You and your husband put in a lot of work and I can see how that can be frustrating. Thank-you for taking the time to leave a review because someone in a similar situation will find your experience helpful. Low-profile ceiling lights can be a challenge to mount in some situations. Next time, I will make note of that in the video. Thanks Catherine. I'm impressed with you and your husband's can do attitude! All the best to you both!
Hi, I have an electrician come to replaced my ceiling light with the ceiling mount fixture like you introduced. But I noticed he didn’t use the wire nut or wago. He simply just twisted the wires together. Should that be a concern? Would it cause any issue?
I had the twist one. It's not great. I also lost my wire stripper. You don't get the support cable and you also dont get an easy place to put the wires. I almost considered returning it.
That sounds frustrating Stanley. The support cable makes it easier but not all the flush mounts have them. Appreciate you letting us know. It's good to share your experience with others. Thanks!
There is a small switch on the back of the fixture where you can set the color temperature. Generally I set them to warm light. You can set it to what you like before installing.
@@tonyenrico9350 If you click on my Amazon storefront in the electrical section you'll see a ceiling box that will help you out. It's a standard ceiling junction box.
Okay. Installed. Not sure if I like it. The light directs in a more downward fashion than a traditional bulb light fixture causing a shadowing along the top of my room. Is this something you have noticed with this type of LED fixture?
@@gavproductions that’s a good observation. These types of lights won’t illuminate your ceiling in the same way as a traditional light. If it’s something you can get used to keep it. If you don’t like the look you can always return it for something you’ll enjoy. Thanks for sharing your experience. It may be an important consideration for some people.
Amazon sells LED lights. I just purchased a BLNAN LED with remote which allows you to change the color temperature and the brightness along with some other things. they come in 12" and 15.5". Longevity is 30000 hours so depends on how much you use the light.

Where I live the third wire is usually an exposed copper ground wire attached to a screw at the back of the box. In that case leave the wire capped at the back of the box. I’d then connect the two neutrals and hot wires. When in doubt call a licensed electrician they will be able to help you out.
@@DaruDhillon Thank you. Great video on the install, but I also have a question on the dimmer. So if you just use a regular switch, I assume you would not be able to use the various lighting options. Also, if you just use a regular switch, how do you know what lighting temperature you will get?
@@JCBoricua112 in the video near the end I select the lighting temperature manually. With this fixture you select it before installing whether you have a switch or dimmer. Usually in a bedroom you’d choose the warmer color temperature but it’s up to you. This installation was done with a standard dimmer. Same installation if you have a switch. Thanks for watching, Peter!
@@DaruDhillon Thank you for the quick response Daru! I rewatched your video and see where you talk about the light temperature. Pretty cool that you do have the option to select multiple temperatures in one fixture. even if you have to do it manually.

Sounds like you have a light that is malfunctioning. If the brand is listed on the fixture you could contact the manufacturer for a replacement. Good companies will replace the fixture. Other than that, I would check that your connections on your light are secure. I'm sorry to hear that you are dealing with this problem.

Okay.
It may be an important consideration for some people.
what do connect a ground wire to
Ground wire to ground wire and grounding screw in your electrical box.
What about when the light goes out ? How do you replace the light
You replace the unit. Good manufacturers should last a long time but good point.
I love it . How much is it and how long will the light last? Where can I purchase one? Thanks. Jim
Amazon sells LED lights. I just purchased a BLNAN LED with remote which allows you to change the color temperature and the brightness along with some other things. they come in 12" and 15.5".
Longevity is 30000 hours so depends on how much you use the light.
@@jeffj318 thanks
@@jameslee2215 Glad to help.
Very smart and sweet indeed. 😊
Great video easy to follow and beautiful !
Hi question should we believe in the lighting facts on the light bulb box when they say 30,000 or 50,000 lifespan hours ? Please reply back !!
I would believe. Longevity depends on how often you use your light.
Nice work.
Great Video! I am trying to move away from old fashioned Flourecent lighting. Where can I get these ?
I have a link in the description box for these lights. They’ve been a great find for me. 👍🏽
Yea... It has come a long way.... From China🇨🇳
Touché
I wish this is close
Up installing the wire but nice video thanks
Here's a lighting video I did with close ups so you can see the wiring clearly. Hope this helps. Dining Room Light Install: ua-cam.com/video/kaAsALqBdU8/v-deo.html
Hi, on my ceiling there are 3 wires, but my light only 2. What to do now? How to connect that?
Where I live the third wire is usually an exposed copper ground wire attached to a screw at the back of the box. In that case leave the wire capped at the back of the box. I’d then connect the two neutrals and hot wires. When in doubt call a licensed electrician they will be able to help you out.
@@DaruDhillon thank you for your answer
Love this thanks again
Thanks Michelle!
What is the Beam width? And how soft is the light?
Hi Alex, you can check out the link in the description for all the details. Thanks!
How about the switch? Need dimmer ones?
The light works with a regular switch. If you want it dimmable you’ll need a LED compatible dimmer.
@@DaruDhillon Thank you. Great video on the install, but I also have a question on the dimmer. So if you just use a regular switch, I assume you would not be able to use the various lighting options. For that, I assume you would need the dimmer and I thought you were going to address how to make it work with a dimmer in this video.
Amazon sells a great LED with a remote made by BLNAN. This is not to be used with a dimmer switch though as the remote controls lighting and color.
Versatile and low energy consumers, LED lighting has really progressed!
That’s a good point Randy!
Awesome video, this helped me so much!
Good luck with your install! Thanks so much!
We just bought a new house and these types of lights are all throughout the house. Unfortunately the one in my bedroom keeps changing light temperatures and I can't figure out how to make it stay at one color. Any tips? The previous owner didn't leave a manual for what to do on this. Thank you!
Sounds like you have a light that is malfunctioning. If the brand is listed on the fixture you could contact the manufacturer for a replacement. Good companies will replace the fixture. Other than that, I would check that your connections on your light are secure. I'm sorry to hear that you are dealing with this problem.
Nice.
Thank-you!
Can these be installed in a drop ceiling? I'm assuming I can't install it without a junction box
You are right. You need a junction box for safety.
Can you use it on a wall
I haven’t installed this type of fixture on a wall. However, you can install it on a wall. I’ve done that with other styles of ceiling lights. It just depends on the look you are going for.
Thank you my bathroom has a fluorescent and the one you showed is nice and I can pick a 3 different settings
They also have smaller sizes too if that works better. Good luck Carlos!
My problem is getting the fixture tabs to line up with the mounting plate slots.
That part can take a little bit of patience. Hang in there and try again.
