She liked cheerleading and basically cheerleading is glorified public-approved child grooming. I guess I’m old school but I can see how the parents thought it was ok. But yeah staying out till 1 in the morning can never ever be good parenting. Poor girl wasn’t missed till breakfast time ffs. Hell I wasn’t allowed to stay out after 9 till I was like 15 or something. Some parents just don’t know how to care for the gift they received till they are taken from them.

@Brandon Rhodes I'm going to ignore your sweeping and laughably false assertion that only the most rich and the most poor are out here committing crimes. The OP's point was that rating someone's morals based on where they live is classist, and she's right.
Making poor financial decisions, living in generational poverty, and the multitude of other factors that lead to poverty have zero to do with one's moral code. Conversely, having hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars cannot and *does not* buy you a conscience. Morality and fiscal responsibility are not mutually exclusive. That was a classist comment made by the narrator, and by you as well. Criminals come from a range of backgrounds. Serial killers are almost exclusively middle class. You need to turn off the biased media news and pay closer attention to the demographics in these crime stories.

I know. It really hurts to know that there are so many people out there that think this way. With each generation our youth seem to lose touch with morals and show less or even no empathy for others. And I don't think it's just the parent's fault alone. Our media desensitizes crime and romanticizes a lot of ugly behaviors, teaching kids their justified in wrong doing and giving them a false sense of entitlement. At a certain age, even in the young, it no longer becomes about what the parent tried to teach them alone. Every person either realizes they are causing harm and that they want to stop hurting others, or they have absolutely no empathy and continue on their self-serving path with no remorse. I also think that, while each person has the right to choose their own religion or not to practice all, the decrease in the value of attending church or corruption of churches has further led to youth's lack of morals and compassion.

Also people who are hallucinating tend to base hallucinations around their environment not just stare at the ceiling randomly. All that being said he is probably depressed and anxious but very lucid and lying. I would still get a professional to do a full evaluation in person though. Those evaluations have massive consequences for peoples lives and its important they are done correctly for a just result. Although personally I think the kid is an incarnation of Satan he deserves a chance at rehabilitation he was only 14 and clearly had issues and you can already see the type of mother he had, she likely wanted to hide his guilt to protect herself.

Sad, but very, very true. Parents can only see and do so much. They can limit what they see and do, but it's a different story when with friends, at school, etc. The child will find a way and parents won't always know. I believe social media is destroying society as a whole. It's addictive (I admit I'm on my phone too often), and there indeed are horrific things to be found online. Whatever you're looking for, it can be found.
Social media also has destroyed our ability to reason with others, to debate logically. Where it used to be you could talk about different things, not today. Too many keyboard warriors who say things you'd never say to someone's face. There's no respect online.
It's debatable whether it was ever truly said, but I've seen a quote attributed to Einstein which says something like, "Technology will create a society of idiots."" Whether he said it or not, it's certainly becoming true.

Truly sad, yes. And very scary. I'm 54 but when I was younger (much younger) I did some time in prison around sociopaths like this. Now that I've been out for many years I thank God every day that I did make it out. I shared a cell with a guy who was the ringleader of a "vampire cult" here in Tennessee. His sick little group killed a female member's parents and then ate part of the mother's heart. They all ranged in age from teens to young adults. To beat it all, the guy BRAGGED about it all. I didn't cell with him for long, thank heaven. But in the years I was in prison I met quite a few barely-human monsters. I'm very paranoid now about violent crime. I won't let my little sweet wife out at night by herself, no way, because I know how evil some people are. They're all over the place. We live in a VERY sick society now. I even dread letting my wife get out for too long in the day time, because I'm always imagining some warped turd out there just looking for "some random person" to execute. Makes my blood run cold. Never committed a crime so far. So by the looks of it... He's been rehabilitated. A serial killer who murdered weak and elderly patients. More than twenty of them. Rehabilitated.

It is not always the parent’s fault but in this case, considering mommy was trying to cover for his crime, it is bad parenting and his psychopathy.
