The fact that he had a criminal past and residents complained that he followed them and was being creepy and he still held this job of security guard is inexusable.
Utterly ridiculous how he was able to "bypass" or hack the lock after a couple mins searching on the internet. At first I thought the explanation was easy--he saw her enter her code while he was with her, went back and simply entered the code and that's how he got in. But nope, as you say she was in safely and locked her door and he was able to enter without the code at all :O Makes you wonder how many other people have this model and are unaware of how easily it can be hacked. Kwikset should definitely have been responsible--it's unfortunate the bldg threw out the lock after replacing it so it could not be examined.
The family should sue the building’s management. That guy shouldn’t have been working there anymore, after the complaints they’d received against him! He was a dangerous predator, and their female tenants were identifying him as such! Wtf?
I think it went to the security agency he went threw. And they have every right to blame and sue them. Andy one wether found guilty or not who has any sort of aggravated Assault charge should not be allowed a security license.
In all reality the family has a case against BOTH the building AND the security agency. That's just how the law works. BOTH can be held accountable. Whether or not both ARE held accountable is a different story but a good lawyer would file a suit against EACH of them and there's actually a decent chance that they would win BOTH suits
They did and it wasn’t the blg management it was the security company you make it sound the building manager knew the guards history that is why they hire a security company which her parents did sue and sued the lock company as well .
@@janet07100 Right. They sued the security company, so they DID NOT sue the property manager, which is what I suggested. You make it sound like you are correcting me, except you’re not. I definitely did not “make it sound like the building manager knew the guard’s history,” since I never said a single word about his criminal history. I made reference to the complaints received during his employment at that specific building. If I am living in an apartment complex, and I’m having an issue with an employee, whether that person is a security guard, maintenance person, or parking attendant, I’m going to bring my concerns to the building’s management, or my landlord, or whoever I pay rent to. I’m not going to know where the property manager has obtained these services from, nor am I going to care. The property management would then share those concerns with the relevant vendor, which in this case, was Vital Security. “Residents had been complaining about Stephen since the moment he’d arrived. These complaints had ranged from harassment to the downright creepy. One female resident had complained that Stephen had been acting sketchy, and had followed her back to her apartment. These complaints had been submitted to Vital Security, as well as to Uptown Place, and Condominium Concepts.”
Those 2 Samaritans who were so concerned with her safety making sure she got in the building must have felt horrible not knowing the enemy was lurking inside. This case is a perfect example that even with the best security, you are never safe anywhere. Really tragic loosing her life that way
Hopefully not. They could have never known. I pray they don’t suffer from the, “what if” Her friends Friend the night of the event also have no idea. I hope they don’t blame themselves as well. So tragic and sad.
Yes and the random guy who walked in behind her and asked her if she was okay to which she replied yes, thank u! 3 people who didn't know her but were concerned for her safety and this weirdo get ahold of her anyway!!
Hmmm, yea, she advocated for safe living, but she was drunk out of her mind at a bar, at 1:45 am and stumbling around, and tried to get into a car full of strange men. Total strangers had to come and prevent her from getting into that car and take her home and she couldn't remember the code for her apartment door. Yea, that's the way things work.
@Franz Fanon he's putting a lot of time and materials informing people of these story's he's covering , so I think it's pretty fair that he gets some compensation
As a female security guard i can confirm there are many dodgy men in the industry and I would never leave them alone with any vulnerable women and children
Wow! I honestly never knew that . Thanks for that invaluable information . Most women would trust a security man and should know this . In the UK we have had problems, with male police officers and women don’t trust them anymore . One male police officer, Couzens was nicknamed ‘The Rapist ‘ by his male colleagues . He was caught years later kidnapping , raping and murdering a woman , Sarah Everard . How many other women had he done that to and not get caught ? . And Couzens had a Wats App group with other male police officers whereby they texted each other about raping women
Makes sense. Predators put themselves in positions of power where they can easily prey on people and then people look the other way cause they're in those positions.
I watch a UA-camr who did a story time about one of the security guards to her building. The man was entering her apartment when she was gone, rummaging through her things and stealing petty cash. That could have escalated but she caught on, thankfully. Always be wary, women need to stick together.
It’s really haunting the way she was running up the stairs, as he creeps behind her. It’s almost like her intuition was telling her to run from him. I can just imagine how relieved she must have felt to safely get inside her apartment, only to later have her keypad lock hacked. I had to live alone for school halfway across the country, in a state where I was so far from my family. Our locks opened with a keyfob access only. It didn’t feel safe, because maintenance and cleaning staff could open your door at anytime (they had a fob that could override any lock). So I always made sure to deadbolt the door from the inside. If you’re a woman who lives alone, please always deadbolt your door from the inside. It could save your life
I'm going to get one of those bars that attaches to the door knob on the inside and rests on the floor. Even if someone has a key they can not force the door open. The front window has a bar in the track to prevent it from sliding open, but someone could break it to get in, but that would be very noisy and I have a very large tall bookcase in front of the window. My neighbors have a security camera and I feel very safe in my apartment. But I'm still getting the door bar!! RIP sasha, what a beautiful woman. Very sad!
@@maryevelyn3059 the bar locks are amazing! When I used to live in apartments there was an elderly man who made them and gave them out to anyone who lived in the complex for free! He just wanted everyone to be safe. I was pregnant at the time and working nightshift getting off around 5 am and was always anxious coming home that really helped to feel less scared and paranoid lol.
This is just so infuriating. Rapists should get life, but they’re given chance after chance to do it again, and when they don’t want to get caught anymore, they try murder.

The security guard in my old apartment ran behind me with a gun when I was trying to open the front door. He spooked 😱 me and I screamed at the top of my lungs. The neighbor came out and asked if everything was ok while I was face down on the floor. He told her everything was ok and then ran out…later I found he had been fired by the apartment complex days prior for being on drugs. *Beware of Security Guards
Yikes! You have to beware of anyone who works at the apartment complex and has access to the apartment. There was another girl in Florida who was murdered by the handyman or maintenance guy.
Convicted of agg assault for hitting his babysitter with a shovel, multiple complaints from tenants including a woman saying he followed her home and creeped her out. This is beyond despicable. Whoever put him in that position should be held responsible. He had access to people’s homes and they just let it all ride. Absolutely no excuse. Everyone should feel safe at home. Breaks my heart how her night out first ended with two kind souls escorting her home safely, only to arrive at the safety of her home and be met with a monster in disguise. Rest her soul.
The ONLY defense I see the security agency having is that he was a minor when he was charged with that and the MAY not had access to it. The family has a good chance of winning a civil suit against BOTH the security agency AND the building owners actually
The guy should’ve been sentenced to life imprisonment for the shovel incident to begin with. Why the fuck is the justice system so fucking ineffective and lenient. He should have been executed after all of this.

OMG, as a single woman living in an apartment this is terrifying. I chose to live in an apartment rather than a house for safety reasons, but this proves safety is an illusion.
Apartments feel way less safe to me for the simple fact that too many people see you every day. Whether it be residents or guests. There’s just too much traffic and too many variables. But honestly you’re really not safe in todays world.

I would think that police would first test the security guards DNA in order to rule him out. The fact that they looked elsewhere when he had been seen with her, is a failure on their part, imo.
Personally I wouldn't call it a "failure" cuz its not like he got away with it. They DID get him and truthfully DNA can take MONTHS to get the results back. I agree. I think so as well. I remember my best friend female when we went to school up in Knoxville at the university of Tennessee I always had just like a creepy vibe from most maybe all of the maintenance guys that had been hired by the school for student housing. It’s hard to remember all of them and every comment this has been some time now. We were in school from 2003-2007. But she would always call me and pick me up from wherever I was on campus or my on campus apartment so that I could ride with her to find a parking spot once it was night time and then walk to her dorm, which was right across the street from my apartment building. I always told her to make sure to call me and we did it that way all 4 years. I was like it only takes one time for something bad to happen. And the campus is for real a mile or so from downtown Knoxville, so it’s really close and we would see sketchy guys and homeless ppl walking around sometimes or out in the parking garages at times. But the maintenance guys there had cards to get into all of the housing buildings and keys to get into every room. And we would see them stare at girls or make some pretty grotesque comments about girls that had just gotten off the elevator or even about my friend they would be like whispering to each other when we would get off the elevator and one of those situations you could just tell what they were talking about. The maintenance guy on her floor to her dorm building she liked him alright and everything and I guess back then we just thought different when you are 18-22 years old and just always thought yea he’s just an older guy maybe in his 50’s which isn’t that old but of course as college kids you think 50’s is like ancient lol. But I know she would tell me if he needed to come into her dorm they were required to knock, so she said he would give like the slightest little knock on the door and she was pretty sure he would already have the key in the lock because she said it would be a very light knock and then bam door unlocked and opened within a second or two. He would be in the room quickly. Maybe hoping to see someone changing or whatever he thought might be going on in there 🤦🏻♂️. But like I said when you are young and in college you just play it off differently than we would now. Back then she was like he’s just an older guy and seems nice 🤔 and never thought he would do anything but you never know what one’s capable of and after they just keep building up more anger or whatever issues on the inside they could one day act on it. Because of course it starts off little things and then you start seeing more and more like she was almost certain he went through her panty drawer and things like that she started to notice but again just played it off like he’s just an older horny guy looking at college girls ya know. But there were signs that started to build up over time and luckily nothing ever happened but I’m just saying you can’t just trust a person like that and expect that they wouldn’t ever do anything more than rummage around your room or stuff like that.

Moral of the story - Please manually lock your doors from the inside because there’s no trusting these keypad locks. Even if they are 99% safe, there’s still a 1% chance of someone breaking in. So manually secure your doors with a bolt or lock from the inside. There’s still a chance of someone breaking in but atleast there’ll be evidence of forced entry which might help find the suspect.
I wouldn't blame the apartment they probably use an security agency

I watch a UA-camr who did a story time about one of the security guards to her building. The man was entering her apartment when she was gone, rummaging through her things and stealing petty cash. That could have escalated but she caught on, thankfully. Always be wary, women need to stick together.
On the other side, if I needed security I wouldn't want a woman's help. It's just too bad that sick people exist.
Very sad!

@Graphic Designer he robbed them of their child, robbed her of a full life with a family of her own and robbed them of watching her being happy and holding their grandbabies. That's why girls like this need to find a nice country boy like me and hide away from big city killers. Sure you won't get the fun of always being a career woman, or drinking with friends all the time but at least they would be alive...

They probably WERE waiting for DNA results but continued to investigate through other methods until the DNA results came back. The labs are so backlogged in most states its insane
I think they tell the story like that to drag out the story a bit, throw a little bit of who done it in there. I don't think the police waited.
Sasha's parents giving their condolences to Stephen's parents is a level of emotional maturity I wonder if I'd have in the same situation. That's big of them.

This and Miya’s case is a realization that these apartment workers or staff have way too much access to your apartment and how easily it is to abuse their power
I changed the lock.
What a great narrator, lovely voice and not drowned out by needless music!

In France, he would have been released at some point, because we abolished the death penalty but no real life-term imprisonment. People with positions that give them power over others’ lives that they don’t deserve to have -
Power that they abuse. 😠✌️

Sadly, the public school system is designed to set the majority of society up for this, as if it's "normal" although Stephen is the EXTREME, the system is designed to produce a bunch of slaves to the corporate world and those that take it "to far" are made an example of. Just think of your fellow classmates in elementary school that got off on being hall monitor. They take advantage of the bullied power tripping kids to produce the likes of Stephan. They really think they can discredit their victims voices on the basis of prior victimhood. These people have never taken a single class in logical reasoning. That's probably for the best. We want the idiots outing themselves for the murderers and rapists they are
We live in a world where it’s dangerous to be a woman and an attractive woman at that! Rest In Peace to Sasha ❤️
Its dangerous to be a lot of things in this world. Not JUST a pretty woman
@@kenkaniff8428 exactly!

@@user-ky7jx1cr5k if you're thinking that is a rude comment I'm sorry you feel thst way but I'm very much a REALIST and very practical and my statement, very easily put . . , it's true. It's just reality. We live in a dangerous world in a dangerous time and MANY things are capable of having you being "singled out" for a crime. MANY things!!
@@cactus1837 you'd have to be a lunatic to think that we DON'T live in a dangerous world. I'm just a REALIST. Unfortunately it's the world we live in. MANY things are capable of having you being "singled out" or "targeted" for a crime
My deepest apologies and heartfelt condolences to Miss Sashas family and friends. So heartbreaking 💔
People are always putting military, veterans, police’s on pedestals but remember folks they are human like everyone else. I give a McDonald’s worker, construction worker etc.. The same respect I give military or police. Others think military, police and veterans can’t do wrong and I don’t understand 🤷🏽♂️
Omg ikr
Preach it! Im a female ( ex Navy ) and I actually respect other industries way more. Defence Force workers are a joke in my opinion. The job was literally like any normal job. The high school environment is the exact same as the Forces. A lot of sleeping around and just popularity contests 😂
This is why I've given my daughter mace spray since she was 13, and taught her to defend herself as best as she can. You can never be too careful.
The worse part, I feel, is that she was already in her apartment, locked and safe. Then he figured out how to unlock the door from his phone on Google! WTF!!! We have these same locks at our factory that protect servers, etc... The guy who installs them said there is a way passed them. Don't trust keypad locks!!! I see them on front doors all the time.
yea i dknt have a kid but if i had a daughter id get her to learn a bit of defense and how to be safe
she needs a gun
I think it's arrogant and heartless of you to imply that she should have had pepper spray in order to Ward this off. She was laying in bed. What is your daughter supposed to do hold it in her hand at night
You still gone die if someone wants you dead
@@matthewfalter6366 Exactly my thought. Specially after a night out and if he sneaked in when she was sleeping, not even a loaded gun next to her bed would helped her. He is a dangerous predator!
My husband once told me & has always stuck in my head, that if someone wants in your home bad enough, it won't matter what type of security you use, they will get in.
Monsters will automatically see an opportunity & seek it out. It's like there brain is always on the prowl.
That poor young lady, family, & friends, my heart goes out to them.
Yes- It’s never about locking yourself in but finding a way out!

Not really this comment is highly flawed. You can put protection in place and deterrents. It’s even proven homes with security camera and crazy locks are deterrents nobody wants to spend hours breaking down a deadbolt for example when they can move on to an easier target.
blows my mind how stupid that guard is, how did he even think he'd get away with such a crime with all that camera covering who enters and leaves the building
The security guard who you are supposed to trust , turns out to be a most dangerous man. Very sad situation. RIP Sasha

How did someone convicted of aggravated assault get into the military and become a security guard? Wouldn’t a conviction like that show up on a background check? Or was it exponged because he was a juvenile at the time?
Privilege
Juvenile cases are sealed. Once you turn 18, you essentially have a clean record unless you were charged as an adult for a crime prior to 18.
Jamie, worst think is that they made an FBI check and was good (at the end of the video they mention). The highest level of security said is ok and you still expect security from one like him who is just an employee? Second....she choose the wrong path, it was intoxicated. The boy worked there for almost 6 months and chose just that night isn't strange? For me it clear, both choose to destroy their life. Love is just for those who appreciate it.
@@eusebiuorbai146 are u blaming the victim shame on u
She was so beautiful, and seem to also have a good head on her shoulders. What a damn shame and loss.. Don't understand how one could sexually batter, hurt, and murder such a cute woman like her...? Smh Or any innocent soul for that matter. People are sick. Humans are by far the most savage and vile creature in the animal kingdom.
This case is absolutely horrifying
