Jim, that is a keeper! That maple burl is amazing. It reminds me of a tortoise shell. The "paper" worked quite well, and as you were deciding about whether to pour clear or tinted resin, I was yelling "Hyper Shift"! I'm glad you took my advice! LOL. Man, you just amaze me...! Jim, the paper, like you said in the end, is also known as tinsel. Nick Zanetti also did a project using the tinsel. The hypershift did wonders for the fake paper 😂. Beautiful piece yet again, Jim. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

I've used it as well or as Easter grass I also done a video using tinsel on my channel I loved how both of them turned out

The hypershift is amazing. I'd love to see a piece, maybe walnut, with resin with just hypershift, I think that would be incredibly beautiful.

This bowel is really beautiful! The paper/plastic Easter grass/crinkle cut paper looks great, and I highly recommend that you use this again, maybe even deeper, or even a hollow form! Thanks Jim!

Holy cow! That is an amazing piece! I've never been the biggest fan of the red/green holiday color combo, but the deep emerald and Garnet mixed with the pearl of the hyper shift is just glorious! A lovely piece, Jim!

Designer Epoxy, My Grandfather used to make Spinning Wheels on his lathe and I remember watching him work for hours at a time. I now have his lathe and I have been watching lots of videos on how to do it but I am just leery enough to not want to get started...one of these days. This bowl with the sparkle and iridescence turned out perfect for the holidays.

Coming out of the bucket I could tell this worked great. I thought the heat of the resin might melt the plastic grass. This bowl is beautiful. I bet Mom will want to keep this one, I know I would.❤❤❤❤

It amazes me how every time you try something new it turns out absolutely out of this world. Your crinkled paper looks like giant pieces of glitter on the sides. This is the first piece that I have really been able to see the hyper shift. Absolutely amazing.

I saw gorgeous piece and someone said it looked like Christmas, but I think. The red and green together look like Bloodstone. If you get a chance to look bloodstone up check it out, to me it resembles the rough cut of the stone. Thank you for sharing talent with us.. When I was about 15 or so I made several macrame hanging tables with light in them, but I also made tables’ to set in them and I used the reason for the top of my tables. The slabs of wood I got were were rough cut into slices, i kept the shape just as kit was. 😊

Love this bowl! I think the one burl with the larger "bubbles" looks like turtle scoots, very cool! The plastic paper gives it a fun vibe, and like you said VERY Christmasy. The hypershift gives it surprising pockets of "jewels". Just a great piece.

I am impressed that you found that much figure in that burl!! I also thought the Easter egg grass would not turn out as well either. My poor grandkids are not going to be happy with Pappa this year and grandma is gonna be disgruntled with me for the kids not getting any grass is thier easter egg baskets! That stuff is mine!!

😳😳😳😍😍😍 This one is in my top 5 favourites!!! That burl has such character, the Christmas theme was perfect for that bowl, and the hypershift from Designer Epoxy was the perfect addition, especially the red/blue/purple. That shimmer is also known as unicorn skin, and it's one of my favourites! I would love to see you try that hypershift used with white pigment and walnut. That would absolutely be gorgeous!!!

What a beautiful gift I didn't think i would like the paper strands in this bowl I thought it would only mess up the beauty of the burl I stand corrected your vision and creativity really makes your work stand out from the rest. Scrolling down through the comments I can't believe no one has said this yet. It looks like the crystals inside a geode! That's all I can think of when I look at that bowl. The "fake paper" turned out so awesome, I am very glad that you mixed it up, and the wood is so pretty! Definitely a stunner for sure, and I think the holiday color theme made it the perfect project for this week. I am definitely sharing it!

defiantly one of my top 5 of you projects. The burl in this bowl is magnificent. I recently used designer epoxy for a coffee table. I added black pearl for the color, and it really helped make the top pop. Thank you, Jim, and Designer epoxy for helping with education.

I love KJP hardwoods. I bought wood from them when I first bought my lathe. I was only doing spindle turning at first, while stuck at home during a pandemic shutdown, and they provided me with lots of selection, shipped to my home with very reasonable shipping costs. Their shop is a 2-hour drive for me, but I have visited a few times. I could happily spend the whole day in there.
