    The latest idea for the Sprague line of T-Shirts for the Seasoned Woodturner - "Epoxy's Always in Charge!" This handsome T is made from extra heavy-duty material so that it can be hidden under when projects go sideways! Available in all the finest men's clothing stores....eventually. Such a beautiful hollow-form! A wonderful example of the natural/organic mixed with the modern. Thanks again, Jim!

    Jim - you’re humility, affability, and genuine true character are the main reasons I watch, the awesome projects are just a bonus. There are plenty of other channels out there with similar content, but they just don’t resonate the same with me as yours. As a result, you are the only channel that I never miss and always comment on. Your interaction with the viewers is staggering and I don’t know how/where you find the time to fit it all in. Congrats on the milestone and know that I will follow you all the way to the next and beyond. Thanks for everything you’ve done - you have made me a better turner for it!

    Yes congrats on hitting 100k subscribers. Although I've only been watch your UA-cam for about 6months, any down-time or me-time I have been through most of your earlier projects -so much so that my family groan when they find me watching them! So although I liked your latest piece you never mention the actual colours but only held the colours up. I realises you have been very busy but for me I would like the colours verbalised like you have been doing. Thanks in advance for doing that.

    Hey there have been quite a few of your projects where the thermal cracking has fallen short...

  • @lotuselansteve
    @lotuselansteve Рік тому

    It hasn't cracked very much because the actual thickness of the resin was kept low by the stuff inside, keeping the thickness within the maximum recommendation for a lot of the volume.

    • @SpragueWoodturning
      @SpragueWoodturning  Рік тому

      This resin is only good for 1/4” max depth of pour and should of cracked a lot more than it did. Thanks for watching!

    • @lotuselansteve
      @lotuselansteve Рік тому

      @@SpragueWoodturning Agreed, but that is the manufacturer being cautious, similar to eat by or best by dates on food which have safety margins built in. I'm guessing that 1/4" is the depth at which they can guarantee it won't crack. The thicker you go the more chance it will crack. However, there are so many variables, as you well know from your experiences, that nothing is set in stone :-) That's part of the fun, if everything was guaranteed wouldn't it be boring? 🙂Love your work by the way. It has inspired me to have a go with old resin I have (used to do a lot of wet carbon fibre layup but have since found prepreg carbon) but will have to restrict my experiments to small stuff as my vacuum pot is small.

    • @SpragueWoodturning
      @SpragueWoodturning  Рік тому +1

      I’ve only been working with it for three years and haven’t noticed any yellowing or hazing. With that said, all epoxy will yellow over time, especially if it’s placed in the sun. DE does have UV inhibitors in it, but it’s never a good idea to place epoxy pieces in the sun and if it’s mixed with colors you won’t see the yellowing in the future. This is why you don’t see many clear pieces on my channel. Thanks for watching!

    I just got a response to my comment saying “I’m a winner” with a number to text which I immediately flagged as spam. They should have an option of “crook/fraud” to choose instead of just spam. 😊

    I agree, this is your best project yet. My only complaint is that I wasn’t the person who won it. Lol
    I’m sure Brad and his family will treasure it. It truly is a special piece.
    Congratulations Jim, 100,000 subscribers is quite a feat. A goal you worked hard to obtain. Congratulations Jim, I’m sure, like I, that everyone Canada is proud of you and your achievement.

    Getting definite steampunk vibes from this. It would make for a beautiful diamond painting pen.

    It looks amazing. The colors, especially the sapphire blue are fantastic! It may not be what you had in mind when you started; however, it’s a huge success!!
