Sheena was always under rated. I love her. Her Scottish accent is fabulous.
She didn’t seem underrated in the 80’s. She was very popular. Her voice is amazing and sensitive. So much emotion and power.
That was the only thing good about her, was her Scottish accent. JMO
Morning Train was her first big hit, and Modern Girl and Sugar Walls were others. She also sang For Your Eyes Only for the James Bond movie.

Sheena is one of the most underrated singers ever. She has a vast catalogue of beautiful ballads and pop songs you should continue to explore. "The Lover In Me", "For Your Eyes Only", "Strut", and "Telefone (Long Distance Love Affair)" would be just scraping the surface!

When He Shines.... is another great song by Shenna, her vocal abilities are really great.
Sheena Easton had one of the purest voices you could ever hear in the 80's. There are many versions of this song done live by Sheena that are incredible, and awesome. Many people talk about her James Bond song from the movie For Your Eyes Only, and to me its the best Bond song ever. But this song, Almost Over You, is an amazing song and Sheena sings it to perfection. I am glad you guys reacted to this classic!

HO-LEE crap! I haven't heard this song since the 80's and it took me back with so much strength and vitality. This is such a powerful, yet sad, song.

Sheena is an amazing singer, I feel like she's very underrated too. Everybody knows 9 to 5 (Morning Train), most people write her off as just being another pop singer but she's got so much more than that. "For Your Eyes Only" is a must (another James Bond theme), and if you enjoyed this one then you have to check out "I Wouldn't Beg For Water" as it's very much the same style of song.

Sheena Easton was the first Reality TV break-out star
Born in Bellshill, South Lanarkshire, Scotland in 1959, Sheena Orr (her maiden name) earned a scholarship to attend the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. While taking classes from 1975 to 1979, she sang at night with a band. She was married for a short time in 1979; though she divorced her husband, she decided to keep her new last name, Easton. A tutor suggested that she audition for Esther Rantzen, who produced The Big Time for the BBC. The Big Time took people with potential in a particular area and helped them try to achieve fame or make a career while a camera crew documented their lives; earlier subjects had included a gymnast aspiring to be a trapeze artist, a comedian, and a prospective professional wrestler. Easton took a shot, and was chosen for the show. The rest is history!
My 16 yr old self played this about 1000 times when this came out. I have not heard this in awhile. Still so good.
Sheena was really good friends with Prince. He wrote a handful of songs for her to sing. "Sugar Walls" and "You Got the Look" were 2 of her bigger hits written with Prince.

Had a huge crush on Sheena Easton. She is Scottish and listening to her speak makes me smile. She is absolutely beautiful but a voice that is surreal. And what a style she had back in the 80's. Love this. Thank you for giving Sheena her due. She's largely been forgotten as far as having one of the best female voices. Her Prince song 101 is a different sound altogether. Much more urgent vocal approach to fit the lyrics, and very cool production. For another ballad, I Wouldn't Beg For Water, Weekend in Paris, Wind Beneath My Wings are all good. Sugar Walls is interesting, I think another Prince-penned song about sex that was very suggestive from a top 40 female singer at the time. Her voice did well in several pop genres. Anyway, thanks again. This was a treat and definitely may me smile.

You want to hear an awesome Sheena Easton song - lend your ear to, "You Could Have Been With Me". This one actually shows a bit more of her vocal prowess. Her interpretive skills and her management of dynamics make her second to none. I would group her in the same league as Celine and Barbra Streisand. She's got it.

Sheena Easton was a real singer's singer with a lot of nuance, wide range, and crystal clear tone. She was the first pop music, power ballad belter who paved the way for later belter divas like Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, and Mariah Carey who came years after her. You should hear "You Could Have Been with Me", by Sheena, as well.
