What are the things I noticed Steve is that the other drivers in their cars saw you were having a problem with the backed up and gave you room. They didn’t start crowding you and honking their horn..

I had a 64' model Diamond T, Steve. Just as tough as Autocar. Double chassis rails 5x4 changed it to a 610 Roadranger x 4 speed joey. It could climb up a brick wall as "they" say. Out with the petrol/gas (for you guys) in with a V8 Cummins, still too small. Big rubber buffers under the rear. Unbreakable. I'm 73 now and watch you make all the smart moves that I was never capable of. I'm sure my last name should have had an " i " in it and not an " a ". Greetings from Australia bud! Doing a great job. 👍

The biggest difference between beginners and experienced is that they see the mistakes. While the rookie has no idea how it turned out the way it did.

At least you recognize the problem and corrected the situation and went on with no damages to your unit or the state’s property, other drivers would have just plowed through ruining the company property and/or state property. Good driving Steve.

There's several R model Mack dump trucks near me locally, to this day, still working. They're as you describe: raggedy and bulletproof. Especially impressive our rough Canadian winters, though I'm sure you're no stranger to that in Wisconsin. Kudos for showing your error - everyone makes them from time to time!

My late father only owned Macks. I grew up in an R-Model until he passed in 89. He drove Tri-axle dump trucks. And I remember seeing the old Autocars, too (The Konstrctor??). I asked Dad why he never bought a Kenworth or Pete and he said "For over the road, you can't beat them. But for this work, they can't hold up. Sometimes too much eye candy, too. You ever see a beautiful R Model??" I knew what he meant lol.

Coming over that last bridge (Newport bridge) the Newport Navy Base was on your left along with the Naval War College. To the right was the tourist area of Newport. It’s nice down there. URI Oceanography school where you delivered the generator is a good school. Robert Ballard, who found the Titanic wreck and dove on it is a huge supporter of the research vessel there. Thanks for sharing the video. The eye candy was worth backing up a few times. 😂😂😂

You went the right way, the George Washington Bridge for 195 in providence is the one that made national news and the traffic is messed up. Driving up through Jamestown, Newport, Middletown is a prettier ride. Only positive to going down 195 would have been driving by BB 59 USS Massachusetts and the rest of battleship cove. You and Jenn should bring the boat up, spend a few days in Matunuck, Narragansett, Block Island, and Newport. I think you'd love it. We'll blame the turn on ri dot making it too tight lol.

I guess Autocar is still going. the one you seen was a DC-64. this is what I found out about Autocar, " 1953, White Motor Company acquired the company. A few decades later, in 1981, the Swedish company AB Volvo acquired all White Motor Company’s assets, including the Autocar branding. This led to the formation of Volvo White Truck Corporation. Then, in 2001, GVW Group, LLC purchased the Autocar brand to form the Autocar, LLC you know and love today. The Autocar brand returned to its roots as an American-owned brand for purpose-building the highest-performing severe-service trucks.

I think the Truck GPS is misleading at times. The big company I work for I would call the navigation office and tell them a route was a not a truck route. And why. And they would do a reroute for us. But remember the driver needs to verify because he can’t say that my GPS said it was ok and go anyway. Thumbs up 👍

Here in CT there is company that has signs on their trucks that read -
Behind every bouncing ball comes a running child.
You were just watching her two bouncing balls. You were cautious and no one got hurt….😂😂😂😂😂

Grind it till you find it LoL, It happens to the best of us. As long you caught it, most drivers just run the sign down and keep moving like nothing happen.

As a long time captain running 100 foot plus yachts, the story is, back out the same way you came in and if you f up, back up and re think your approach. Let time stand still until u get it right. Like the turn you almost made. Same thing, same thought process. Trucking and large boats have a lot in common in handling
Btw I've only been doing this for 40 years and still f up once in awhile. Happens to us all. The killer are those assholes who won't admit it
