Hey man when you're stuck at these truck stops you can always have food delivered, you've got doordash, Uber eats, postmates. And many of the delivery services have designated drop off points for people traveling. That way you can just go online and find a restaurant you like and get something decent to eat, you also can order groceries things like that. You can even get Orwell a nice quart of 15W40 synthetic of course

Denver is like LA if you don't get there at a certain time, you're parking in the street, or if the shipper/reciever allows you, you can park overnight, but like Denver, we also had a drop yard in Ontario, east of LA.

Keep the "fake' stack in place, so when ya have a moment to hook it up again and route the Green APU into it, should be less work than taking it off and putting it back on.

i like your truck, I think you should keep it on, the dummy exhaust, kinda like a balance, one on each side

I would leave the stack on, you can always re-plum it later… it’s not bothering nobody

My wife and I say to leave the exhaust stack on, it may not be working right now but Orwell would look too different without it.

Leave the stack and re-do the exhaust when you can. Keep that classic look.

Leave the stacks,,,when you get the chance hook the other one up…it’ll run better….looks a lot better especially when smoke blows out both of them…..IMHO…🇺🇸👍

Hearing you compare Denver and its expansion to where you are and where you've been is amusing because I've lived in the city suburbia all my life and think where you live is a vacation away from it all. We have a running joke here in Texas of Colorado is the clone Texas because it's so easy to get there from anywhere in this state and I can tell you Colorado is very popular with the suburbanites who like to go to the resorts and crawl Denver's beer scene.

Hey, Steve? If I recall correctly for your era of truck, heavy truck transmissions didn't have synchros for the manual transmissions the way light cars and trucks have. That's part of it.
The other part is that the older transmissions in trucks like yours have whiny gearboxes because of the cut of the gear teeth being more square than modern gears, which are curved and spiraled even.
Put it this way: If you've ever been in an old car, and backed up for any kind of distance, you would hear the same kind of whine from a differential, because of the way the differential gearing teeth are cut. Modern differentials don't have the same kind of square teeth older differentials have, which is why more modern drivelines, both transmissions and differentials, are quieter than older ones.
A howl, by the way, that gets louder may be that a bearing is going bad, whether an input shaft, an output shaft, or an idler shaft. When you drain the transmission oil, make sure you don't have little sparklies in the oil, which would indicate something in the trans has worn past the point of needing replacement.

Watching on the forward facing rear camera, that "fake" stack shakes about without the pipe steadying it from below. The one in use is much firmer. Might be better removed.
