It's mainly cannon and bunker rush defense behavior. The elite AI basically has map hacks, and will know when you start building something near their base, even if it's outside their vision, and instantly start attacking it with workers.

Real reply: It also came from Sc1 that a lot of players advise Terran players to between siege and bunkers. (don't forget scv! They gonna help repair) So some developers would like to put this in the campaign to help newer players defeat the game.
Going into this wasn't expecting the strategy to be outlasting your opponents rather than say picking them off as quickly as possible, but great work, was extremely satisfying to watch!
its a nice idea to outlast because in 8 players map a lot of them have a "teammate" on your side, so it gives you more resources than any other AI if you kill that one quick and take over. Terran just has the best siege units also. Pretty cool. If anything maybe doing 4 elite AI with the same strat might be harder because they would have more resources and could probably force you out eventually? maybe.
@@Humstuck it will end up being the same thing. You still have a base ratio of one to three. You still need to trade extremely efficiently. Every marine you build should kill 3 in return.

Ahhhh, the strategy of the second attack: wait till the last and then, send all your battlecruisers to rush your enemies. I see this strategy survived through time since SC BW. Love this, man, I traveled to my childhood. 😍

Similar to the battle of Gettysburg on day 3, the defenses were just barely reached and just for a few moments slightly breached, but not quite enough to keep pushing and make a breakthrough.
I do so love how this game kept the Terran's theme music/s... Or at least the REALLY GOOD ONE! :D And of course, phenomenal gameplay. You're out here making this look EASY (Aside from that final push from the AI, which, by the way, was a pretty POG moment)! XD

I remember doing a strategy like this in SC1 back in the day. Seeing a whole bunch of siege tanks unload their mortars on waves of enemies is just satisfying to watch.
Like hearing it with the actual game sounds. I’ve never played Starcraft 2 but I did play the first Starcraft back in the day and I loved it, especially playing as the Zerg. Those swarms of armies & traps they produce are so cool.

I once did this but I was a bit more aggressive, went terran air. Made planetaris with scvs and a wall of sieges for defence and then started flying around with banshees/vikings/liberators. As long as you have some spare scans you can safely see the enemy coming and unless its a giant blob army or a marine wave. You can then use your libs to lure the army to a high ground or a cliff to snipe away at em. Also use these guys to make the enemy ot blob up in 1 giant dead wave and to snipe expansions or base peices that are unguarded. This way the ai's spend even more cash to rebuild. But good vid.
Man, that was satisfying to watch the whole video, sad to say but im just campaign player, all i can say is terran is the most brutal defense against all races and your so good at keeping your units death count so minimal i can see your units is always 200 to 198 or 180 is also satisfying keeping the units being safe the funny part was getting rushed by the workers from the start 😂😂
This was a blast to watch, pun intended. I'm not big on Terran gameplay, but thisbeas epic. My strategy has always been with protos and build a mine field of defense turrets while building carriers in the back hidden then flank the enemies from the shadows of the edges and work my way through.
That is a variant of the Terran star tbh, which I respect as well because I used to play Toss back in BW. I found that Terran on this side was more my thing. Something about holding out against larger forces just appeals to so many eh?
Hey great vid, might I suggest next time after you get your base defense up look at getting building armor. Your use of buildings in these kinda demands it I think. In normal games it’s kind of a joke but against AI in this scenario it’ll definitely be worth the cost

Hmm, never tried 1 vs7... I think the "worst" we've played is 2 vs 8 and 3 vs 7(CPUs can't handle more(yes, CPUs, not GPUs)). But we always play on maps with maxed out (commonly "gold") resources, meaning that turtling is possible, just not adviseable(as it leaves the AIs with taking over ALL bases and basically spamming infinite armies at you at an insane rate from every direction). And usually much larger and LESS defendable. It's interesting to see how different the defense is. No forward artillery to break up attacks. Not using the flank of the entrance to add firepower concentration for some odd reason. That's a major flaw. And only a fraction of what we would consider enough SAM turrets. Yeah, sure the depots are way too weak to block the entrance, but they're also the easiest way to do it early on. And there, the north expansion lost easily because of not enough air defenses. And later they keep getting attackers in there. Air defenses and some siege tanks on the right of the entrance would make it much easier to defend. Especially as it would make it harder for AIs to spot uphill. Huh... I wonder how you would manage on one of my maps... Never ending minerals and gas... For everyone. AIs just keep coming until you can damage them enough. Base defense tends to get "intense"...
The way the fellow with the higher voice states the obvious reminds me of the kind of things the color commentator says in the movie "Dodgeball". 700 explosions at once: "Hey, they're attacking our base!"

one of my best games was a 3v3 ai and my two teammates left cuz they thought we wouldnt win and i solo dolod it and won through attrition. i was terran and i was playing exactly like this. siege tanks and rines + missle turrets
I just did this! I have been trying for weeks, rushing opponents until today when I realized that the way to do it is just to outlast and control the very last mineral lines near your base (but outside of it). I did it a bit differently though, the enemy AIs are easily manipulated if you have Liberators. They won't go into Liberators range, so just camp 1 Liberators at the ramp helps you save money on a lot of Siege tanks. Later on you need quite a few more Libs though, I ended up with 5 that survived almost the whole game. I also used Libs to camp them at AI mineral lines to slow them down (once again, they'll try to stop you but their units won't go into Libs range until they have overwhelming number), I slowed 1 AI down with 2 Libs to give me some breathing room early game.
ngl watching a who getting annihilated by the siege tanks and the anti-air turrets was pretty satisfying, and also one of the reasons why I love this game.
Amazing feat without using a single control group. Also this video is yet another demonstration of why attacking up a ramp in multiplayer is a HORRIBLE idea almost all the time. 7x the ground army supply, still not enough. (Sky toss/zerg/Terran would be a completely different manner)
Man. The Siege Tanks are Devestating. When you used them, you destroyed all of there armys combined, and when they used them, they were the best unit to destroy your defense the most.
Supply depots being not cost effective for blocking off didn't really hit on me until you mentioned it lmao. I got so used to blocking off with supply depots in SC1 that I've also kept on using that technique in 2 for the last mission on Wings of Liberty. Zerg kept on plowing through my defenses so after a couple of retries I tried to block it off with the Planetary Fortress and it worked wonders. I even trolled Kerrigan by putting a bunch of SCVs behind it to keep up with her damage 😂
I never heard about this RTS game. Looks super good and cool... As a kid I played Stronghold, AoE, CnC tiberian sun..(Red alert was too advanced and we didn't and couldn't read English so never could figure it out) I wish I had internet back then.
I like this, simply hold the line and trade more efficiently until they run out of money. Of course, it helps to take out the guy next to you and double your money.
Any particular reason why you didn't cover the right side of the high-ground with siege tanks also? You could then evaporate the enemies on the low ground more quickly, because more tanks would be in range sooner. I guess the reason is that if AI saw the siege tanks to be also on the right side of the ramp, it would provoke it to send more flyers that way. But I think that it would be manageable if you also built anti air defenses there. The advantage might be that then the AI would not concentrate both their air and ground attack at the same spot. The ground attack could only come through the ramp, and that would be gone instantly thanks to the tanks. So it would be only about managing the air attacks.
I guess you kinda answered your own question. Expanding the siege line means to ensure they get properly covered by AA. And if a single flyer lives long enough for enemy siege tanks or other range units they will start shelling your tanks, since there is no planetary to focus on. Plus, youll be spending more supply in tanks, meaning less BCs for mobile force.
@@HibiscusOrchid I guess that I didn't account for AI stupidity. The range of enemy siege tanks is the same in both directions, and they can shoot over the planetary if they choose to. But they won't. They will shoot the planetary first always. Maybe you could build planetary on the right side too? It would probably still be in range of some ground units to shoot. And I don't think there would be problem with supply. Just put less tanks in the back. Most of them didn't shoot anyway, because they were out of range.
Noob question: Why did he put siege tanks so much in the back (so they even damage his own building)? Wouldn0't be better from the sides, and closer to the ramp?

You can actually go in to the game's settings under Sound, and swap the soundtrack over to the SC1 / BW soundtrack.

I got so used to blocking off with supply depots in SC1 that I've also kept on using that technique in 2 for the last mission on Wings of Liberty. Zerg kept on plowing through my defenses so after a couple of retries I tried to block it off with the Planetary Fortress and it worked wonders. I even trolled Kerrigan by putting a bunch of SCVs behind it to keep up with her damage 😂

I never heard about this RTS game. Looks super good and cool... As a kid I played Stronghold, AoE, CnC tiberian sun..(Red alert was too advanced and we didn't and couldn't read English so never could figure it out) I wish I had internet back then.
I like this, simply hold the line and trade more efficiently until they run out of money. Of course, it helps to take out the guy next to you and double your money.
Any particular reason why you didn't cover the right side of the high-ground with siege tanks also? You could then evaporate the enemies on the low ground more quickly, because more tanks would be in range sooner.
I guess the reason is that if AI saw the siege tanks to be also on the right side of the ramp, it would provoke it to send more flyers that way. But I think that it would be manageable if you also built anti air defenses there. The advantage might be that then the AI would not concentrate both their air and ground attack at the same spot. The ground attack could only come through the ramp, and that would be gone instantly thanks to the tanks. So it would be only about managing the air attacks.
I guess you kinda answered your own question. Expanding the siege line means to ensure they get properly covered by AA.
And if a single flyer lives long enough for enemy siege tanks or other range units they will start shelling your tanks, since there is no planetary to focus on. Plus, youll be spending more supply in tanks, meaning less BCs for mobile force.
@@HibiscusOrchid I guess that I didn't account for AI stupidity. The range of enemy siege tanks is the same in both directions, and they can shoot over the planetary if they choose to. But they won't. They will shoot the planetary first always.
Maybe you could build planetary on the right side too? It would probably still be in range of some ground units to shoot.
And I don't think there would be problem with supply. Just put less tanks in the back. Most of them didn't shoot anyway, because they were out of range.

Wouldn0't be better from the sides, and closer to the ramp?
So the planetary fortress can take the aggro. (so units prioritise attacking the building.)
