More Chad content is always appreciated.
I’m 100% better than Dumero lol 😂🥳
@@TRUMAN_THE_TRUE_MANyou really show it in the videos lad
@@TRUMAN_THE_TRUE_MANsays the guy that can't even spell Drumeo right.
This is a video taken from the interview that was released 10 months ago so sadly it's not new content.
We need more cowbell, Chad will do though I suppose.
Otherside is 25 years old but Chad plays it like it's brand new. Incredible.
How many times you think he has played it live how could he forget

Crazy huh!?!? been listening since the 90's and still sounds just as good as the day I heard it.
Dead stick awkward swap out but you would never know unless you saw it. Respect

I had to go back and watch it again! That was slick!
@@paolim1102he was clumsy & dropped the stick or it broke?
@@marthy995 he threw it away on purpose and made a hand gesture "give me a new one" - watch closely
You can tell it's definitely not the first time this happened to him.
Since Chad was in drumeo, I come here at least once a day to watch some videos with Chad. What Jared did with Drumeo is great, after over 20 years since I last played drums with my friends, in a small Polish town, in the basement of a community center, I bought electric drums and whenever I feel like it, I sit down and play, and my 7-year-old daughter and 14-year-old son are also interested in drums. Another fact is that many of my friends who were not at all interested in playing drums also subscribed to the channel because they were interested in this series about listening for the first time, learning a song quickly, and those long episodes such as with Chad, when de facto it is a small concert. May it never end.
You became interested in your children? Or they became interested in drums?

@@TheWeasle2 That's what it looks like to me. He didn't lose it, he tossed it down and gestured for another.
Yeah I was like wtf the same 🙂
Is that in the Drumeo transcription?😂
These videos make me appreciate him FAR more than I initially did. Hes a brilliant drummer
This is the perfect illustration of 'toning it down for the recording but tearing it up live.'
The beat for the album version is wondering in its simplicity. This version here is simply wonderful.
The mixing of these drums is outrageously good
The snare is a bit too loose
@@elcrackengaitos_bs4804disagree, it suits this style
@@elcrackengaitos_bs4804 the snare was my only problem with this video. It seemed to keep coming loose throughout and sometimes you'd see Chad tighten it up just for it undo mid song on the next track he plays. It doesn't have that normal snare feel a Chad Smith kit has. Maybe it's partially because I'm so used to hearing him live from the amount of RHCP concerts I've been to, but it doesn't sound quite as "snappy" I guess would be the word.
@@soulessshadow5356 yeah
Hi Hat too present, but overall great
The biggest 9 year old returns! Love that childlike joy he brings!
that's something called having fun
Never lose that. Joy of life.
Chad’s style is so much fun to watch and listen to… his body is so fluid and moving so freely and loosely, yet is sound is so tight and every sound coming out of his drum tracks sound like they’re exactly where they should be…
His drumming through the bridge on this track is so big and really drives the sound. Incredible!
The man is one of the best that’s for sure!
I like how Chad plays aggressively in front of the groove. So many people show off playing RHCP stuff, and they're almost always missing that.
First thing I noticed.
Can you explain in non-drummer terms what you mean by that?
Could you explain what you mean? I feel like i kinda get what that means instinctually, but can't quite explain it myself.
@@McSireson playing on top of the beat is where your notes are hit just a bit earlier than all the rest of the band. It's almost like rushing but you're never actually speeding up; you're just staying ahead of everyone (kind of like in a race where you lead, or like a train when you're the engine out front; nobody plays ahead of you, but you're all keeping the same tempo) .... It pulls the rest of the band. The drummer pulls, and the bass pushes. The sound is very aggressive. In reggae, the bass player plays far behind the drummer.
@@Gruuvin1is this something learned or instinctual? This topic is fascinating to me as a non drummer/musician…do people just play this way or do they actively practice to play this way?
Also I never understood how a drummer could play “in the pocket” or perfectly on the beat/timing yet drummers have styles, play in ways that’s not robotic or stiff? I apologize because I know I’m not explaining it correctly what I’m trying to say.
Chad is a prime example of instinctual playing. All feel, pure emotional injection. No charts, no counting, no care. Just hit the drums like you mean it and make ‘em feel something. Either you have that… or you don’t.
he is all those things sure, but he has "it" because he put in the hard time for years and years, not because of magical, elusive abilities.
Totally agree@@error.delete4945
Exactly. He can play Otherside in 20 different ways and every single one would sound incredible. The change-up at 2:48 onwards is just pure beauty.
He has tremendous skill and technique though, which is necessary for the emotional side to be coherent
@@error.delete4945 true! I think what @hishamdahud was tryna say is that Chad has that soul that's playing, not just "music science". But to be able to let that sould play you sould definetly learn the science and the more you know - the more free your soul is when playing
I just love how passionate Chad smith is about his playing.
He just oozes groove and surpreme talent.
Gotta love the big man!!
Call it CHARISMA!
My first RHCP album.
Mine, too.
Chad has always been my favorite drummer. His feel is unparalleled. My goodness....
I never mentioned Chad as an outrageous drummer. Since his live performances on drumeo I know, he is. I rather love his groove. Great work, great drummer. Thank You Chad ( and RHCP ) for so many years and lots of cool moments with You.
Even a simple song in the drums, he manages to give it an incredible vibe. I wish I could get inside this guy's head to assimilate everything he thinks and conveys in his music. Sensational!
I could watch Chad play all day long. Man this channel just consistently kills it!
Friday morning and wake up to Mr Chad Smith Rockin the kit❤️
Chad Smith's drumming talent, though not necessarily the world's best, holds a special place in my heart; his unique style gets me on the edge of my seat. If I could possess any drummer's skill, it would undeniably be his. Chad Smith reigns as my all-time favorite drummer, and that won't change. Drumeo makes the sickest videos with drummers out there, making their channel my ultimate go-to with Chad Smith being my favorite. What a sick channel🤘🥁👍!!!

His drumming just sounds so different from anybody else. So iconic. Amazing.
That's why I love drummers. Each drummer sounds unique. E.g., you can listen to Nirvana songs with Chad Channing, Dave Grohl and Travis Barker and they all sound like three different Nirvanas.
Chad has such an awesome, natural, dynamic style. Puts his whole body into every note. One of the coolest dudes out there.
These videos have really helped me appreciate Chad as a drummer and musician. So much instinct and feel.. always seems to play the right thing. Guy is phenomenal

Hard to believe Chad is 61 and still banging those drums with such power and finesse! What a legend.
Chad has such a great swing/groove & he tears into the drums!
One of my favorites 🥁
Best Will Ferrel solo I’ve seen. Great actor, comedian, and Drummer!
Forgot how good he played the drums at the Catalina Wine Mixer too!
Chads hi hat control is second to none. His limb independence is masterclass
extremely underrated, my respect for him went even higher after this video
Watching his footwork on the hi hat and kick is amazing.Great Drumming
It took me quite a while to realise a major, if not the reason I like RHCP is the way Chad plays drum, it adds this great energy to the songs. I saw a similar thing with early Korn and Dave S really laying into the drums, but keeping the sound controlled still.
It is amazing to see Chad playing so freely and enjoing every beat!
I don't think many people realize the core strength required for this kind of drumming. This man can hit!
I don't think anybody cares about that aspect. Why are you so obsessed with "core"?
@johnnyceagles I don't have a definitive answer friend, as I am not considering myself "obsessed with core" as you mentioned. I just commented on a video how remarkable it is for a man that age doing this stuff. May I suggest taking a deep breath, letting go is helpful when we are searching for problems that are not really there.
Have a good day.
@jamsloftchannel1541 💯 to that!
but you forgot the most important part at the end, the mic drop. 😉
One of my favourite RHCP songs, Chad makes it so exciting. A good drummer truly makes any band shine their brightest
Watching him play is always a treat. You can tell he lives for it.
2:51 that's gorgeous
I love how he's still playing different. Adding more than the studio
20 years later to play what you did on a studio recording to a basic rock would be borring.

@@krusher74 and I think you being an sarcastic a hole that doesn’t understand humor is not magic. It’s ur daily standard practice
No. No is the answer
legend said that they still waiting for Chad to leave... xD
He's actually amazing gives me shivvers watching him enjoy the music and how he plays and feels it.
When he first drops into that groove and turns the stick around to hit the body of the snare, that's so in the pocket. That's a life time of playing your instruments right there. Meat and potatoes but far more interesting and emotionally moving than 90% of drum shredding I see online these days.
Will Ferrell is so talented
For nearly 60 years, I’ve loved and wanted to drum.
Never had.
And when I hear Chad, I know I’ll never bother.
Never, in a million years, could I be a fraction of the drummer I’m listening to whilst I type this.
The Boss. 🥁🫶
Hell of a Drummer! But give it a shot brother! Is very liberator and U will feel free!
Maybe I am being fooled, but every time I see Chad he is giving 155%.
He plays so clean it’s amazing - especially since he hits so hard. Always looks like he’s having fun, too. He’s a pleasure to watch
Watching Chad Smith groove makes my day. ❤
Chad has the pocket of a pair of $10,000 blue jeans and hits that drum set looser than an ex wife at happy hour
Real Drummer 🫡
Love that bright pop on snare
I always love Chad's drumming.
I love all in this music. It's simply perfect. Drums, guitar, bass, voice...
You gotta love his energy and feel for music, Goooo Chad!!
Chad was playing at a live show just then. Especially towards the end. Love it

Groovemaster, Chad Smith is a benchmark drummer that is down to earth and always looks like he's havng a great time 🥁🤙🏾
Love the space in RHCP songs from this era - really shows off Chad's dynamics and pocket.
I've always been captivated by this groove since I saw the video on MuchMusic at 14. Criminally underrated and thank you, Chad!
I love the constant bounce for tight timely fills. Always on the groove. Excellent.
Impeccable timing. Especially at this volume level. One can clearly tell the decades of banging those drums live on the biggest stages like it's nothing. Wow.....
Just brilliant. I loved this song before for the way the band comes together with instruments and harmonies but hearing the drums really set free was delicious. Thanks for the share
