Great tip on the shoes. Been in a couple different stores that only sell athletic shoes and never got this kind of guidance when asking about determining what is best support. Thanks for all the effort you put into your videos.
This was just what I needed today, as I'm trying to increase my walking distance. I struggle with finding enough support in my shoes combined with impact resistance in the sole/insole to combat plantar fasciitis. Any advice? I definitely agree about walking poles - as a former Nordic skier, I LOVE mine! My tip I like to share is to do walking loops versus out-and-back routes if you're increasing distance. That way you can stop more easily when you need to and avoid overdoing it, which for me leads to backsliding in progress. ❤
@@beckygwinn2107 Thank you! I will check them out. I think also Oofos has a new model of walking shoes (vs. recovery shoes) that I'm going to look at too.
Awesome tips! I just recovered from a spine surgery & 2 months later a knee replacement! So learning how to walk again. I have the walking poles I just took out of storage. I was using a cane for 8 months before the surgeries so it has been difficult & painful for me unfortunately. Also just got new Sketcher walking shoes & the suggestion of smaller steps makes its much easier to walk for me at this beginning of my rehab! you are an awesome PT instructor-better than all the ones I have used here in California. Thank you for then expert recommendations!
I have worn heels most of my life and was recently told that someone with knee issues could never wear heels again. Is this correct? I really can't stand wearing sneakers and was wondering your thoughts about it. Thanks for your help.😊❤
ive been told i have a complex meniscus tear and tricompartmental osteoarthritis. i had cortisone shots then had three hyaluronic gel injections. not sure whats coming next. hoping to avoid a knee replacement. i do some of your exercises the best i can and do my recumbant bike. wondering if pool exercises might benefit me.

Great tips. I love walking. I was walking 6.41 miles 5-6 days a week but got away from it the last 3 years because of life circumstances. As soon as our weather warms up a little I’m back out there. I was just diagnosed with osteoporosis. Also have osteoarthritis in my left knee. So walking is important to me

Perfect. At 73,these are great tips. I use poles, so I tend to take long strides, so I'll shorten them up. Thanks!

pending what brand you're referencing, but barefoot shoes generally have lower amount of support.
