Every time, I stand up , I am 100% stiff and in pain . I catch my left foot on the ground and the shoe . Sometimes I will Valgus and feel like I'm going to fall :( . My back hurts if I'm standing to long or walking .
I just tried the 3 exercises before my walk, and immediately I noticed that my balance was better. I wasn't falling forward as I walked, like I always had. It felt like my hips were a bit forward of my torso instead of the other way round. Then half way around my circuit, I tried taking longer strides, and I was able to do it without the usual tightness that I always felt. It's amazing that five minutes of the right pre-walking exercises could make that much of a different. Many thanks to you, Will. BTW, I'm 81 and live in California.
@ 1:45 Tibialis, 20 - @ 4:38 Glutes: Hip Abduction, until fatigue/ache - @ 8:31 Hip Flexors & Glutes: Hip Extension, 20 Not just for walking, great for pre-beginners with very weak legs. First, congratulations on your reaching 1 million subscribers!!! Second, I am 50 plus years old and not only do I appreciate your channel and information but I super appreciate the fact that you give more direct information on who each video would be suited for in your titles, which I think would be a detriment to actual views, but is awesome for those, like me, who really are looking for the more specific videos that are geared towards my age, situation or exercise for my specific age group. It may be a very small thing, and most people probably don't even notice it, but I find it very refreshing that you specify who each video would pertain to, rather than the common, frustrating and overused "click bait" titles to ensure maximum viewership. You are very much appreciated, and I personally just want to say thank you and your team for all that you do, it really does help, and you make a positive difference in my life, and I am sure many others. Be well...
Thank you so much for your generous comment. I'm so pleased to hear you've found the format and the content of my channel helpful. It's wonderful to hear my work has been making a difference. I'm wishing you all the very best!
Yeah, you've reached 1 million subscribers And I'm one of them ha, ha. Well deserved. Always nice how you explain everything and what we should pay attention to. Congratulations and on to the next million 🎉👏💪
I've been to PT for 5 or 6 weeks each over the past 5 years. No one has ever hit my issues spot on like you. I will be doing these exercises religiously since my stride has become so short over the past 10 years and when I return from a walk and sit I feel "crippled" - my back refuses to let me get up. Congrats on the 1 million! You clearly earned it!!
I’m 75 and a massage therapist. I also cut all my own firewood, two stoves to feed, so go through a lot of wood in the winter here in Canada. It’s so important for me to keep fit. Your videos are excellent and keep me going. Will buy your 2024 edition soon.
Thank you immensely for all the tips you give for seniors🙏best wishes to you in your field through which you are serving the Universe so unconditionally 🙏God Bless🙏
I’m 85 and have just had cellulitis and am having to learn to walk again. 🤨 Your exercises are just what I need and I think I’ll get the book Best regards and thank you
I have needed this so much. Thank you for the detailed explanation and helpful presentation. I love your enthusiasm, empathy, and the dedicatedness to your profession. One million subscribers - well deserved. Congratulations!
Congratulations!!! I have tried this priming and it helped not only my walking exercise with ease but all my house activities during the day.. thank you so much❤
Perfect!! Hitting the mark spot on. I've often wondered why my ankles and hips are painful no only when beginning to walk, but still five or ten minutes into the walk. Definitely will be starting my walks with these three exercises. And, I'll be adding them into my daily routine as well. Thank you so much - LOVE your channel and your new book!!!
Great to hear you'll be putting these to good use, I hope these prove beneficial to help your walking. Thank you for ordering my new book, I'm so pleased to hear you're enjoying it so far!
Congratulations Will on reaching 1M subscribers!! 🎉That's amazing! I've been watching for quite some time and I'm so happy for you that all your hard work is being rewarded!! You're helping so many over-fifties live happier and healthier lives! I'm sure your channel will continue to grow after this milestone and the release of your new book!
Warm congratulations on reaching 1M subscribers - so thoroughly well deserved, a great reward for all your hard and valuable work. Lots of us have been watching the subscriber count for weeks, willing it to get to this number. Here's to the next million!
I am recovering from a humeral head fracture( right) & came across your videos, while searching for exercises to regain strength in my arm. What drew my attention was the fact that your recommendations are for ages 50+. I have been practicing the pre walk exercises & wow it’s made such an amazing difference to my stride , feels so light & energetic when I’m walking, helped me improve my speed by 7-8% in just 4 days. Thank you
Thank you! I've had both hips replaced and I've been looking for these exercises! I've spent over a decade in pain so I've protected my hips as I walk, or tried to walk. I've come a long way since my last surgery and am grateful for these very moves to get my inactive muscles active again!!
Last Saturday, I decided to go walking (can't run anymore) & did a few stretches before going on my way. I've been trained to sprint. So, I was up & going to a fast pace. Here it is Wednesday & my tibialis anterior muscles are still sore, esp. near the foot. I wish I had seen your video earlier, BUT I will do your walking (stretching) exercises for all my future treks. Thank you.
I have searched the Internet looking for so many videos that will help my glutes. You are without a doubt the best I have found for my situation. I had hip surgery and have not been able to walk very well ever since I am looking forward to doing better now thank you very much.
I've noticed as I have aged that the mind-muscle connections seem to be slowly "forgotten". I find these exercises today, and your others (like the 3-tip Friday ones) to be very helpful in 'reawakening" the mind to specific muscle connections. This increased muscle awareness combined with the strengthening is surprisingly beneficial. I appreciate the work that you do, Will, and wish you all the best!
Hi Will, I’m 65 and recovering from a badly broken and dislocated right ankle. I am almost walking again and am doing physio and hydrotherapy to help. I can do 2 of the 3 exercises fairly well but cannot do the leg back when standing on my bad ankle. I can feel the difference though with the others and will try the leg back in the pool tomorrow. I had a long stint in bed before I could start the rehab work but I have tried several of your suggested exercises, even when I was still in bed. I know it’s going to be a long and slow recovery but as this is the first injury I’ve ever had it’s really rattled my confidence as well. Your suggestions and the way you explain and demonstrate the exercises have been invaluable and I really want to thank you for that.
I've been diagnosed with "irritable hip". The only thing offered was a steroid shot in the hip. I asked for PT, but haven't seen my therapist yet. Your psoas stretch was exactly what I was looking for to lessen the pain I experience when I walk. Thank you so much for your help.
I love ALL your exercise tips !!! Explained and demonstrated clearly and simply. Three tip Friday is always interesting and your book is excellent. Look me up if you ever come to Australia
Well deserved one million subscribers Will and many more in future. Congratulations for the new book too. It is awesome. Thanks for whatever you do for millions of us. Your advice is always priceless.Stay blessed.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
At first I couldn't even tuck my tail but after three weeks I could identify the muscles and I realized that my hips were really difficult to move. Now I tuck my tail just a bit but I feel my waist loosening. Thankyou, Your channel is very useful.
Will, congrats on attaining 1M subscribers 🎉🎉. I received your book today and can't wait to put it all into a daily routine. ❤ thank you so much for sharing your ti e and knowledge with us. Hugs from Texas. 😊
This is great as i have a sitting job, i do get up and also work out a little, but I'm the phones so it's not enough, i love to go for a walk after i get off, these will help incredibly well, thanks. Going over to sign up for your Friday to right now.
I hope these exercises prove beneficial to help you get the most from your walks. And thank you for signing up to my mail out, I hope you find its contents interesting!
Hi Will I have just heard the goodnews that you have 1 million subscribers. Congratulations. You deserve that success -- your videos and books give such good and clear instructions. Well done. Helen
These exercises will be very helpful for me as I have noticed over the last few years that my stride has shortened, my left foot tends to catch on irregular ground and even if I put a lot of effort into my walking, I still can't walk fast. These exercises will be part of my daily routine from now on.
It's like you're reading my mind. I started wearing barefoot shoes a couple of months ago and LOVED the way my feet felt. Only problem is that they have no arch support at all, and it wasn't long before I started developing just the sort of hip pain you're describing here. It was even bothering me when I lay on that side in bed. So I've gone back to traditional shoes that have great support. Will do these exercises and then start *gradually* back to the barefoot shoes as my glutes are stronger and hip flexors less tight. Thanks for a timely routine!
Thank you for all you do. Am so pleased I found your channel. Your calf raise exercise has made a huge difference to my walking - it feels effortless now! Ordered your book and subscribe to free three tip Friday email. Lots of useful information. Well done on 1m subscribers, so deserved.
Good info to incorporate - I walk about a couple of miles most mornings, I find it really makes me ready for the day. I’ll try your exercises you showed us today. Thanks. EAH
Hi Will, congratulations on 1 million subscribers! I’m a younger member of your community, but I find your videos very helpful. I’m currently experiencing issues with bulging discs and weakness in my leg. Could you please make a video in the future about this topic? Is that a normal symptom, and to what degree? What can we do to help? I think your insights on this topic would be really valuable. All the best😊😊
Great stuff and very well explained I appreciate your calm demeanor so many of the PTs on this side of the Atlantic they make their videos like they're trying to sell you something it's information that we lack
Great stuff as always. I have both your books and they are full of great advice and routines. Love watching your videos. Would be nice to see you wearing contrasting colours to see the movement of glutes/back etc even more clearly. Keep up the good work.
I will certainly try these stretches and exercises before I walk. I usually walk an hour a day and I have become so incredibly immobile because my right hip flexor hurts so bad. I’ve had to stay off it for a couple of days and it already feels better. But I know once I get out there it’s gonna start again so before I start I’ll take the next couple of days off to do this and every time I walk starting next week. I really value your videos he seem to be a really intelligent man thank you so very much for all that you do for people like us. And just to let you know I’m 53
My left hip flexor hurt for two years before a PT showed me how to stretch it morning and night. Now it is so much better and I can walk without pain. What happened was it grew stiff from lack of stretching, so no matter how much I exercised it, it would cause me pain. Now that it isn’t painful I can do strengthening exercises. You might need to consult a PT. This video doesn’t show that type of stretch.
Could you do a video addressing internal scar tissue, particularly from old injuries? I was in a car accident 7 years ago, and my knees slammed into the dash. I had hematomas that looked like someone shoved half a tennis ball under my skin. Unfortunately, I also had a terrible orthopedist who just prescribed 6 weeks of rest and pain meds. After 8 weeks of virtually no change and his continuing the same treatment I drained them myself. They instantly got better, but I now have scar tissue you can feel through my skin. I also now have fibromyalgia and was sedentary for years before I found an effective treatment. I’ve been building my strength and endurance for the past year, but certain things such as climbing stairs never seem to improve, and I think it’s due, at least in part, to the adhesions on my knees. There are a lot of videos out there, but most address new scar tissue after surgery. Additionally, I’d like to hear your opinion as you actually seem to know what you’re talking about. 😁

Excellent information and great narrative. Keep doing this good work
Thanks alot. I walk alot on sunday. Im gonna do this prepping soon 😊
Great to hear you'll be putting this to good use!

Thanks for the demonstration
