It means a lot to me to have someone out there encouraging *anyone* to get into skating. I grew up rural and poor and never had the chance to do this as a kid, but I really want to now as an adult. It's so exciting to know I still might have the chance to compete! Thank you so much. Just finished college but if I get into a Master's program at my alma mater I'll definitely try to get a team going! Please do talk more about collegiant ice skating. :)
This is so interesting and encouraging! I'm 28 and looking to start skating so it warms my heart to see there are chances for us "old ones" to enjoy and give back. I would LOVE to see that video on different professional disciplines and maybe different kinds of coaches? I would also love to know more about the different styles of skating, I don't know if I'm alone in this but I feel very intrigued when commentators say things such as "Oh this skater has such a Russian Style" or "He has very classical lines" Thank you for all your are doing, it makes a difference
I agree with you. I would love to know the various types of skating/skating programs. I'm 27 and literally bought a pair skates yesterday and start lessons on Jan 9th. I took lessons when I was 11ish and sadly stopped but seeing videos likes these gave me inspiration and courage to sign up for adult skating. I'm so happy to see other who are around my age to get into the sport :)
would be great to make a video for 21+ aged skaters to make money and develop a career in figure skating. Splitting the video up for skaters who know basic spins/jumps---single jumps--double jumps-- axel etc. Thank you and great video! :)
Ice dance and synchro are of most interest to me. I used to compete in adult synchro comps but now more into ice dance. I’ve not heard of some of the disciplines covered in your video.
I love the comment about age being just a number. I'm a 36M and I was so insecure when I first started but I've had nothing but amazing support from everyone on the ice.
something that i haven’t seen you say yet!! if you live in hotter climates (texas, like me) you can still do it!! it’s way more difficult but is still very possible
It sucks that all of these other disciplines (solo, synchro, theater on ice) isn't covered as much. I'm tired of seeing jump after jump on TV. This is NOT the only facet of figure skating. Hopefully, the ISU will be more open-minded someday.
I crossed pair skating off my list Becuase I know I can’t lift anyone up hahahah. As a 16 year old male standing at 5’2 and weighing in at 106 I don’t think I’ll be growing any time soon. Not enough to throw and catch someone lol
Hi Michelle I saw your video and wanted more informations on collegiate skating and how to become a professional skater. I am currently a student at San Francisco State University and am majoring in dance and want to combine both of my passions.
I would love to know if there are any opportunities for skaters from countries that dont have ice skating, to travel on a visa or something. Cause I was able to skate during my university years abroad, but since I've moved to my home country I had to give up skating, and I want to be a temporary thing because I want to skate for the rest of my life.
I have a very important question!!! How do you get a partner for pairs skating? There’s a person I wanna ask but I’m not even at a level to compete yet and scared they might decline lol please help with tips on how to get a partner for pairs!!
It’s not allowed in the Olympics and competitions, technically it’s illegal but if you don’t compete you could do a same sex pair! (If you are trans you can sign up as your birth gender and get around this rule, I’ve been thinking about doing it that way as a trans gay male)

I’m also 28 and learn in to skate! Yesterday was my 3rd day on the ice :)

Love that you covered synchro!!! We're on a journey to get into the olympics, so thank you so much for sharing our sport!!
Even though I am a freestyle skater, I did synchro for a year! Its really fun, I just liked freestyle a bit better :)
I’d definitely like see a video about the different ways to become professional 🤩 this video was really good ⛸
Yes me too😁
Getting inspired to start as a 27-year-old plus-size black woman! Let's do this! Thanks for all the great informative videos and inclusiveness.
I love the comment about age being just a number. I'm a 36M and I was so insecure when I first started but I've had nothing but amazing support from everyone on the ice.
I used to do synchronized skating when I was little in Ohio but we moved down south and there aren't many teams down here. It was really fun!
I love how genuine you are. So beautiful ❤️
I think Theater on ice could be perfect for me, I loooove acting 😯 thank you for sharing this info, I had not heard about most of these until now.

Thank you for such great information! You did awesome job!
love that you said any size! thank you!!

Thanks for making this video! It's very interesting. I never heard of showcase skating before, and would love to know more about it.
Do you have a USFSA membership? You can look under the membership side on the sidebar where it says Skating Opportunities.

most female skaters can be quite short(4’11 stuff like that) so don’t give up hope. You probably might grow taller your just a late starter
I really want to learn figure skating but I’m not sure if I should be competitive or non-competitive
Start with the basics. Sign up for Learn to Skate classes at your local rink.

Please do a video on champion stroking!!!! I would love to learn it!
Please make a video of how to make a professional life from the sport! Thanks so much for this video

Is same sex pairs allowed? And if so has there ever been a same sex pair?
