This was really helpful tysm 😭i was looking for things to be prepared for to help my research on figure skating and the competitions for an alternate universe fanfic im writing, and this definitely gave me a wonderful rundown with amazing understanding. I cant do figure skating myself, so I enjoy the thought of doing it through my writing; I just hope I depict it correctly lol
Thank you Aimee! Especially the mentally prepared part before and after skating competition. My daughter just need to hear this. She often watches other competitors and gone nervous that she won’t do well as others. So it turn her skate not as best as her practice a lot of time. She is a great skater and hard working but once this mental nervous hit. It just killed everything.
Hi Aimée, I really enjoy all your videos. Thank you for sharing such useful information. I am 47 years old and started skating 5 years ago. My question is when a skater prepares for a competition or test, is it normal for she/he to have multiple coaches help the skater to achieve the goal? Do the coaches mind the collaborative effort? I am always not sure if it is unethical to ask lessons from different coaches. Thank you!

Is it normal? Sometimes! However, the coaches are generally those that work together. For example, I will sometimes refer my skaters to different coaches for different things and that coach and I will communicate to ensure that we are work to compliment each other's efforts. But, if a skater were to reach out to another coach, without first having a conversation with their own coach, may be viewed as disrespectful to their own coach and most coaches would want to talk to the original coach about it. So, it's best to let your coach reach out to other coaches that can compliment their coaching.
Thinking of starting to compete next year! But I don’t know how it would work as I’m transgender… so I identify as male but I don’t know how category would work 😅

I believe you could compete as male if that is how you identify. Have a conversation with your coach. 😃
Hi Aimée! How are you? As an adult skater I've always had this doubt about Senior level tests... Many times I've heard that Juveniles need to be taken before 13 but I don't get whether this is a suggested limit or what. I'm 25 years old but suppose I eventually wanted to take the senior test, is there an age limit restricting this? Thank you in advance! Austin

There is no age restriction for taking tests.

You may be thinking of the suggested age level if you are looking to be competitive at the National or International elite level.

You’re welcome! Best of luck to your daughter!
Thank you Aimee! This is a great video that I sent to my LTS classes to give parents an idea of how Compute USA is set-up.

Thank you for the reply. It is great to know how to approach this without making it feel awkward. ❤️
It shouldn’t be awkward. As long as you communicate with your primary coach and are respectful of their role.
