RIP, however just because a loving couple died together, doesn't make them soulmates. I actually don't believe in soulmates, we all were born alone, and everyone of us is a whole being. The belief of soulmates implies that we as a human being is not whole unless we find our soulmates, which is so wrong in my opinion. I've taken care of many elderly people, few were lucky enough to have their partner in their 90s. But the fact is, no matter how in l ok be they were or how long their relationship was, once a partner became disable, having to chronic illness, especially the one that renders them from communicating properly, or if one dies, most of the time you will find the surviving partner don't take that long to move on. Easy to say a couple are soulmates when they are young or healthy, how about when they are older or fell ill? Is it really romantic love or empathy/sympathy? Or friendship? Love is rarely eternal or unconditional, and more common in parents-children relationship. Of course this is only my opinion.
I can’t imagine. It’s just another reminder to hug ur loved ones and tell them how much u love them all. And if there are some u haven’t talked to or have an argument with them, let it go, or let them know u might be upset and hurt but the love is and always will be there. As someone who has lost a loved one young and suddenly, a couple times, don’t let time disappear.

Such a sad thing to happen, at such a young age. You seem blessed with two beautiful daughter's, that's obviously kept you going. And that love you have still inside you, will never go away, you will always have it, Forever. 🥰🇬🇧🐾🐾💖
What a beautiful story cut short. You could tell the way she looked at him she was in true love. What a great loss, one that a bunch of us will never know. That kind of love is rare, it does not happen all the time. It is a deep bond, one that seems to go beyond what is in a normal marriage. I hope you know that you were given a true gift, even if just for a while.
Sergey was her true soul mate. Sadly it is few and far between that man and wife are so closely connected as they truly have become one. When one is so blessed to have married their soul mate and then has to face their demise and exit from that oneness it's as if life is over for the spouse. How does the remaining spouse contend with everyday life? Because you're just part of what once was strength and peace and that oneness, you're completely lost and you must reinvent yourself. It's the hardest task human faces except perhaps loosing a dearly beloved child of your own.

They were the most gorgeous couple for me in the ice skating pairs. Look at those visuals and of course the talent! They were so compatible in the ice skating rink, she was petite but passionate and he was tall but very delicate, they really moved as one. Their life together was almost perfect but cut short by the tragedy. It's like a movie with a very sad ending. I can't imagine the pain, to live life without the person you love the most...losing him suddenly at such young age with no proper goodbyes. I really hope Katya is happy even though life has never been the same without Sergei. It's been 27 years, to think Daria is 30 now.... older than Sergei can be :( It was so long already.
I loved their relationship. It was so sweet. When he died my heart was torn in two. I felt so hurt for their little girl. The book was just a wonderfully heartwarming story.

A very beautiful love story... and a tragic one. I couldnt stop crying.. Its good they have a daugther... it helped greatly to overcome her loss and pick up the pieces if her life.
I for one, so remember their love story. I was in my teens then. I'm 46 years old and for me, it's so disheartening to know that you've lost that one person that made such a difference in your life. When Sergei passed away, I prayed often that she would find the strength to go on and I was happy that she did. That performance, in dedication, was well thought out and beautiful. There was no better way for it to be done than the way that she did it. And I'm certain that Sergei loved every minute of it. And he is smiling down on her. I still pray that even after many years of his death that she will continue to live life and live it well. And enjoy it more through the eyes of her daughters and up coming grandchildren.
Oh my goodness!!! This is a tragedy!! She had the one true love for such a very short time! Bless her…the silver lining can only be the beautiful family God gave her for comfort. Two amazing daughters to love!
I've never cried this much in my life for someone else's love story. Grandma cried like a baby. I, even now, become so emotional when I think about their truly beautiful story. RIP Sergei.
I see hope in her daughter Dajaa's life. She may be 30 by now. Why did this love story has to end this way? Don't know. Very moving even by watching the pictures.
My friends husband died the very same way. His back hurt all the time. He was only 36 years old. Had a massive heart attack. All 3 arteries were 100% blocked the 4th one was 90 % blocked. 1 Jan. The new year.
I watched them growing up and winning the Olympics. I loved them, their story, the way they skated. I dreamed of becoming a skater because of them. I loved her tribute skate, I remember watching that as a teen. Beautiful tragic love story.
I had never heard about them before, but as soon as I have seen the way they looked each other, I've just seen pure and true love. So beautiful... Damn! Why such a beautiful story ended up so tragically? What a handsome guy ❤️ of such a pretty girl.
They were so amazing to watch. The purity, the strength, the deep love. I would watch mesmerized. I go back now and watch videos of them. Still the best ever.
Me too i just knew about them...how strong test for their souls. I can't imagine to lose my true love one ...2 swans are always together ❤️ r.i.p. and brave woman Ekaterina
Love them so much! The grace, style, and love showed in every performance I saw. Thankful for recordings and YT so we can rewatch. Thank you for keeping them alive.
I remember crying my eyes out during her tribute performance 😢 you could feel her pain leap through the screen , a truly heartbreaking yet beautiful tribute to her love .
@@MikariMotivation Thanks... got it... so, Sergey and I have the same sickness - that is, enlargement of the heart.. unfortunately for him, he has an uncontrolled, unmonitored hypertension (which exacerbated his angina) while I am on a "normal" 11o/70. So, yeah, I can relate.... 🤔 Thanks, again to you... (Greetings from the Philippines 🇵🇭).
They were and always will be my favorite skaters. Such grace and strength. I remember so well that first Olympic medal. Their performance was magical. Her book is beautiful, too.
I loved watching them and was just devastated for Ekaterina and her daughter. Other skaters were affected ,also. Sergei was very likable and well loved ❤
My heart hurts from seeing such a beautiful couple, performing together in sports and competing , it ends short. Her partner of life past away. Leaving a wife and his child. Such beautiful couple. My condolences to the family.
They had the kind of love that most never find. Their skating was perfection! My fav pair skaters of all time. Saw them in person at a Stars on ice show 💖
ok so 20 something years later I still cry over these two beautiful people and real fairy tale love. I can't believe baby Dasha is so grown. what beautiful girls.
This was so heartbreaking I use to figure skate and at the time a few years back I was at the rink here in California and ran into Ekaterina, she coaches here, she is the sweetest and kindest human, and still such a talented skater. There is sadness in her eyes.
I'm so sorry for the pain you have endured, and losing your beloved Sergei. You will see him again, in heaven, and nothing will ever be able to seperate you! With much love, respect and God's peace be upon you always. Amen ⛸⛸⛸⛸ from Australia 💞💞💞
She will! But now Katya is happily married to Canadian David Pelletier, also an ex-figure skater! (there are some videos of their show-skating on UA-cam as well)
Soon as the video started I could tell I'd have a hard time to hold back tears... damn... the love they shared oozed and poured out of them as they skated, danced, walked, hell stood still... how tragic... and the comeback performance, the pain and hurt and grief and anger and despair and loss and everything one could feel and see on her face and in her movements... 😭😭😭💜💜💜👏🏾👏🏾 their daughter looks so much like him wow!
Wow ...what a sad, wonderful, and heart felt story! One can rarely find once love match! Amazing how they were truly one when they were in the ice...epic!
I remember watching them skate together for many years. And then watching her back on the ice was so bittersweet. So glad she is happily married again.
@@nogoodname909 I hadn't heard that she married again. Good for her. I wonder if she would have remained married to Sergey had he lived. We would all love to think that they would have stayed married forever, but who knows.
Thank you, Ekaterina, for sharing your beautiful love story. I cannot feel your pain for losing Sergey at such young age and so suddenly. I do remember you and Sergey’s winning performance very very well at the Olympic game. The two of you looked so beautiful together. Live for you, Sergey and your children. Wishing all of you All the Best.
Ikr..I woke up for a pee at a quarter to 3 and cant sleep without the tv on and just happened upon this and sat here balling till 4 😞 I've never heard of another story as beautiful as this one that was actually real...sure hope Hollywood does a movie for their story
I too am up at 3am watching this video, crying my eyes out. What is this, the bewildering hour?I remember them so well. I love ice skating and G & G were the greatest. They were smooth, elegant, and so beautiful to watch. Their love for each other game through in their classy performances. Heartbreaking.
I remember when this happened. They were my favorite skate team. You could feel the love between them even on the ice. I was so heartbroken for her and for her daughter.
They were my favorite skaters. I remember this crushing feeling for her and her family when this happened. It was all so devastatingly sad. I appreciate hearing about her life now. She has two beautiful daughters and they seem very close with their mama.
What a beautiful love story.Proves that love is what we're here for, & we should make being loving a part of everything we do-it's the essence of life,of everything.Beautiful story.
That would be a wonderful idea except I fear that current movie makers would muck it up and ruin the beauty and purity of the story. They (current movie makers) are struggling to come up with any new original ideas it seems any more everything g is a remake or part# This would make a wi Sergio story, but it’s innocence might be misconstrued and prob take away from the truth.
There was a movie made from her book. “”My Sergei”. I still have it but it is a VHS tape and I no longer have a VHS player! Maybe it can now be found on a streaming service.
They were truly magic on ice. What elegant and skillful skaters they were! Their daughter is gorgeous and looks like both of them. I'm glad she found the strength to go on for the sake of their daughter! 💖
I was a child when they skated. My mom and I watched them all the time. They we're the most beautiful and fascinating duo I had ever seen. I remember feeling how much they loved each other. I was devastated for her and their child when he passed. Beautiful They We're............
Such a beautiful and sad love story. I lived the next town over from the skating rink they practiced and town they lived in, Simsbury, CT. Our community was crushed when hearing of his passing. The skating rink placed a plaque with Sergei’s name on it on the ground in front of the skating rink.
Their story is so beautiful. Life is indeed cruel sometimes. When you thought everything is perfect, something would test it. His life was cut short but at least he left a piece of him. ❤
I got interested in figure skating after watching a video performance of these two. I was struck with how beautiful they looked on ice. There was something so magical and surreal when they skated. The synchronicity, beautiful lines, powerful yet seemingly effortless execution...oh just perfection. I fell instantly in love with this superb couple. ❤❤❤
So shocked when the news was released to the media that he had died. Skating fans were totally stunned that a man in his prime would be taken down so quickly by sudden heart problems. Saw Ekaterina at one of her first solo appearances. It was bittersweet to watch her skate solo.
This is also the most beautiful story I've ever heard. Even though I wasn't around during that time, I'm bawling my eyes out right now. I'm proud to have had this amazing couple as a part of American history. They say legends never die. I truly believe that Sergey and Ekaterina are two of them. RIP Sergey! The world continues to miss you long after you've left this plane!
Que historia tan triste, pero queda el consuelo por muy corta que fue su vida, conoció el amor de su esposa y su hija, Dios lo tiene en su gloria y su amada familia debe seguir luchando aquí en la tierra❤❤❤❤❤❤
I loved watching them skate and my heart broke and I was both happy and sad when she skated without her love although he was w her and you can feel it when u watch

Dear Katia, I want to thank you for sharing your life with all of us. Because of your life story the rest of us got to see true love. I have my own life story which partly involves you. I was also a skater but never got the chance to realize my dream. I went on to have a family. My children (5 out of 6 became competitive roller skaters. They were all pretty good, but the one I want to tell you about is my youngest son Joe. He, like you and Sergei had pure hearts. He, like Sergei went home early. Where you come in was that I just happened upon a video of you two skating about a year before we lost our son. I remembered when Sergei passed because I still have a magazine with you and your daughter on the cover. As I started watching more and more of these videos I could see the pure love between the two of you. I also saw your courage and strength to go on without him. Little did I know that I was going to have to be strong too. Now I will tell you a little about Joseph. Joe had a good life but not without struggle. He was born with Down Syndrome. He had open heart surgery at 4 months old. Because of a childhood vaccine he lost his ability to talk. He also became autistic for 3 years. By 6 years of age he was back on track. He started to skate when he was 8 years old. By time he was 13 he had spent many hours at the rink. He would mimic his older brother and sister at their practices. He continued to skate til his 20th birthday. His favorite thing to do was skating. He went every Saturday night. His 20th birthday was on a Friday, so we took him out to dinner (another one of his favorite things to do) and then to the skating rink for a surprise birthday party. He was in his element and oh so happy. Everyone could see how excited he was. It was a great time. Joe being the youngest lived at home with us and with his older brother Dave. The next day we were all working on cutting and stacking wood. Joe was a good worker. That went on for a few hours than we all got tired. My son Dave and I went in the house to rest and my husband went out to the garage to work on a car. Joe had a go cart and wanted to ride. His Dad told him bring it over to the garage and I will fill your tire with air. He told him you can ride for a little while but don't leave the property. In just a short time he was called home to be with our Lord. Like Sergei he did not suffer. I then realized why I had been watching you for a year. I was being prepared. This was a loss like I've never had before. This was a child that was always with us. He was the center of our world. We felt so lost without him. He was one special soul and I had to privilege to be his mother. I know he is safe and happy. It has not been easy but watching you has made me strong. Thank you.
I remember always looking forward to seeing this beautiful couple Figure Skate. It seemed they did everything as one. You could see the look of love in their eyes and their skating was immaculate and impressive. It seemed no one could touch them. They were that good. Then I remember her skating solo and it filled me with tears. It was just beautiful. I wish I had tapes or something I can still play of their skating. I could have watched them all day. R.I.P. to an amazing father, man and athlete.
I remember them. I remember that you could see their love for each other when they skated. It was beautiful. I remember his death. I cried watching her first solo. She did that so beautifully.
They were soulmates in the truest, purest sense! Such a beautiful, beautiful story. They were one!

There was no better way for it to be done than the way that she did it. And I'm certain that Sergei loved every minute of it. And he is smiling down on her. I still pray that even after many years of his death that she will continue to live life and live it well. And enjoy it more through the eyes of her daughters and up coming grandchildren.
Me too.I think that he's watching her
Hello
How are you today?🌹🌹🌿
You are so wonderful and kind!🌞💞 I have similar feelings.
May you feel God's blessings all around you! Much love!🎶💛
Did you read her book. I think it is called My Darling Sergio and is worth reading
What was the cause of his death? 🤔
Oh my goodness!!! This is a tragedy!! She had the one true love for such a very short time! Bless her…the silver lining can only be the beautiful family God gave her for comfort. Two amazing daughters to love!
They were so beautiful. It was heartbreaking when he died
Seguramente su segundo matrimonio no funcionó porque ella seguía enamorada de Sergei y su segundo marido no lo soportó
I've never cried this much in my life for someone else's love story. Grandma cried like a baby.
I, even now, become so emotional when I think about their truly beautiful story.
RIP Sergei.
Sergei
I see hope in her daughter Dajaa's life. She may be 30 by now. Why did this love story has to end this way? Don't know. Very moving even by watching the pictures.

I remember this day and the world was united in our heartbreak for her. They truly were an amazing couple💜
Beautiful story ❤️ perfect match... blessed to have your daughter to carry on his wonderful memory
He will always be the love of her life always no man can compete that's fact.....
And they were magnificent together on the ice..... Lovely couple....
Just stop! Everyones life go on, so Katyas do.. Now she is happily married to Canadian David Pelletier!
I remember them… such a sweet couple and so talented. It’s a truly heartbreaking story.
@@drchrisgrayson6415 he was only 28 when he died of a heart attack
My friends husband died the very same way. His back hurt all the time. He was only 36 years old. Had a massive heart attack. All 3 arteries were 100% blocked the 4th one was 90 % blocked. 1 Jan. The new year.
Thank u for this opportunity to see them again. We watched them win and love.
I watched them growing up and winning the Olympics. I loved them, their story, the way they skated. I dreamed of becoming a skater because of them. I loved her tribute skate, I remember watching that as a teen. Beautiful tragic love story.
Watching them skating together was awesome. Learning of Sergei death was stunning. Such a loss.
Hi how are you doing?
What was the cause of his death? 🤔
@@ard8785 the cause of death is listed as a heart attack
@@MikariMotivation Thanks... got it... so, Sergey and I have the same sickness - that is, enlargement of the heart.. unfortunately for him, he has an uncontrolled, unmonitored hypertension (which exacerbated his angina) while I am on a "normal" 11o/70. So, yeah, I can relate.... 🤔
Thanks, again to you...
(Greetings from the Philippines 🇵🇭).
They were and always will be my favorite skaters. Such grace and strength. I remember so well that first Olympic medal. Their performance was magical. Her book is beautiful, too.
Спасибо, автор, спасибо за ту нежность, за тот такт, с которыми Вы подошли к подборке... Спасибо! 😢
I loved watching them and was just devastated for Ekaterina and her daughter. Other skaters were affected ,also. Sergei was very likable and well loved ❤
They were one of my very first "idols". I remember watching them and wishing that was my life. They were beautiful both on and off the ice.
May he rest in peace. Endless love❤❤❤
What a beautiful true love story. Could not help crying. I lost my husband at 28 years old, we loved each other dearly 💖.
I’m so sorry, I hope you found love again
I'm so sorry. That had to have been devastating
Meanwhile, Katya is happily married to David Pelletier! Let wish them many happy years!.. 🍀❤️
They were so flawless and in unison two becoming one on Ice the perfect pair!
My heart hurts from seeing such a beautiful couple, performing together in sports and competing , it ends short. Her partner of life past away. Leaving a wife and his child. Such beautiful couple. My condolences to the family.
Hello Dear
How are you doing today?
Truly one of those heartbreaking moments that makes one wonder why life can be so cruel sometimes.
Greatest couple skaters of all time. Greatest love story ❤❤
They were my favorite couple on ice. When I saw her skate her tribute to him, I couldn’t help but cry. They were chemistry on ice❤.
This was so heartbreaking
I use to figure skate and at the time a few years back I was at the rink here in California and ran into Ekaterina, she coaches here, she is the sweetest and kindest human, and still such a talented skater. There is sadness in her eyes.
Hi how are you doing?
You're among the luckiest to have had met her,i am so far away and can only see her videos, but that's already good enough.
I remember when this happened. It was so heartbreaking. Beautiful couple. I have that sad feeling watching this piece. 😔
Brings back memories. Such a sad story. I remember when he passed and I remember when she returned to the ice alone.
Wow ...what a sad, wonderful, and heart felt story! One can rarely find once love match! Amazing how they were truly one when they were in the ice...epic!
This love story gripped my heart ❤️ and, yes, I cried a little. I wish the best to her and her family always❣️❣️
Hello
How are you today?🌹🌿🌿
I remember that day one of the saddest ever. They were such a beautiful pair, I loved watching them skate it was magic.
I remember watching them skate together for many years. And then watching her back on the ice was so bittersweet. So glad she is happily married again.
They broke up in 2016. 😔
@@user-oh5uq8kg1l she married David Pelletier in 2020.
@@nogoodname909 I hadn't heard that she married again. Good for her. I wonder if she would have remained married to Sergey had he lived. We would all love to think that they would have stayed married forever, but who knows.
She isn't. They divorced in 2016
Thank you, Ekaterina, for sharing your beautiful love story. I cannot feel your pain for losing Sergey at such young age and so suddenly. I do remember you and Sergey’s winning performance very very well at the Olympic game. The two of you looked so beautiful together. Live for you, Sergey and your children. Wishing all of you All the Best.
I didn’t realize I’d be crying at 3 in the morning 😭 This is a beautiful love story 💕
For Dariya probably not...she was too little at that time. She knew Ilya Kulik(the father of Elizabeth, Katyas 2nd daughter) as her father more....
Good people die young it sad
They were my favorite skaters. I remember this crushing feeling for her and her family when this happened. It was all so devastatingly sad. I appreciate hearing about her life now. She has two beautiful daughters and they seem very close with their mama.
Heart braking but beautiful love story betwn these two beautiful skaters.
What a beautiful love story.Proves that love is what we're here for, & we should make being loving a part of everything we do-it's the essence of life,of everything.Beautiful story.
I wish they could make a movie or a series of their beautiful love story.❤
That would be a wonderful idea except I fear that current movie makers would muck it up and ruin the beauty and purity of the story. They (current movie makers) are struggling to come up with any new original ideas it seems any more everything g is a remake or part# This would make a wi Sergio story, but it’s innocence might be misconstrued and prob take away from the truth.
There was a movie made from her book. “”My Sergei”. I still have it but it is a VHS tape and I no longer have a VHS player! Maybe it can now be found on a streaming service.
@@ivorypraise58 they made it into a dvd, i have it
I’ll never forget that day. Always loved them and still do.
Hello 👋 Beautiful Lady 🌹, how are you doing today and your weather condition like?
I was heartbroken when this happened, I loved watching them skate together.
Hello Dear
How are you doing today?
Ice skating was my favorite sport to watch, especially pairs. Especially Ekaterina and Sergei. I cried for months after he died so tragically
They were truly magic on ice. What elegant and skillful skaters they were! Their daughter is gorgeous and looks like both of them. I'm glad she found the strength to go on for the sake of their daughter! 💖
This should be made into a movie. 💗
I remember this. I cried a million tears. They left a heck of a legacy! So loved 🥰

What a Beautiful Video of Katia and Sergei. Theirs was Truly a Fairytale Love Story that Ended too soon. They will Never be Forgotten. ❤❤❤🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Their little girl looked exactly like her father. This story was heartbreaking.
She still does look like her dad
Yes, she is a beautiful woman! ❤
💔Im so sorry for her and at the same time im proud of her for being a strong woman and to continue living for their daughter❤
Katya has two daughters (the 2nd was born a couple of years after that tragedy...Ilya Kulik was the father)
I loved watching them skate and my heart broke and I was both happy and sad when she skated without her love although he was w her and you can feel it when u watch
I cried watching her first performance after Sergey's death..True love lasts forever...

She fell in love again and remarried.
@@PumaLyn I saw yesterday somewhere the they split with her 2nd husband Ilya Kulik, with whom she skated, in 2016.

Dear Katia,
I want to thank you for sharing your life with all of us. Thank you.
❤
Couldn't stop my tears from falling while watching this.
Gosh…I remember her tribute performance - tears all around, they were such a beautiful couple ❤
Hello
How are you today?🌹🌿🌹
I remember always looking forward to seeing this beautiful couple Figure Skate. It seemed they did everything as one. You could see the look of love in their eyes and their skating was immaculate and impressive. It seemed no one could touch them. They were that good. Then I remember her skating solo and it filled me with tears. It was just beautiful. I wish I had tapes or something I can still play of their skating. I could have watched them all day. R.I.P. to an amazing father, man and athlete.
How tragic! Their daughter is definitely a mini-me of Sergey!!! Both her daughters are beautiful!!!!
Life can be so cruel. Blessings to Ekatrina and family. 💛
What a beautiful lovestory.
I'm glad it all ended up well for you & your 2 beautiful daughters.🥰🌈
