    According to my lab work, the strongest binders to H2S are: bismuth, vit B12 (hydroxocobalamin) and molybdenum. Malva Sylvestris kills of sulfur reducing bacteria (SRB).
    We don’t know yet how any of these can treat SIBO, IBS-D, colitis or Crohn’s disease, but we do know H2S and sulfur reducing bacteria can play an important role.
    You seem to know a lot more than my science colleagues. Excellent work!

      Also wondering if you have run across Dr. Gregory Nigh for HS SIBO? Here is a link to one of his interviews: ua-cam.com/video/OzMU8GVzTko/v-deo.html He has recommended some other treatment protocols that have helped me, including molybdenum in the form of the product Mo-Zyme (sublingual) and various naturopathic remedies, such as lemongrass oil. It sounds like maybe HS SIBO is behind you for now with the Rifaximin + NAC treatment (I will try that next) but if it is still an issue I do think the molybdenum + bismuth approach is more effective than just bismuth for symptom control. My understanding is that the molybdenum plays a key role in sulfur metabolism as it is not just the side effects of hydrogen sulfide that can cause issues but also a sulfur deficiency since the bacteria is hoarding the sulfur before it can get to our cells. Another technique to test for that deficiency is epsom salt baths as you can absorb the sulfur in the epsom salt through your skin and bypass the GI tract. If that makes you feel significantly better then you may have a sulfur absorption issue. Hopefully all of this is moot if you already solved for HS SIBO, but putting it out there just in case. ;)

    Thanks for the awesome video :) I just wanted to share that I wasn't able to do the trio test but i had a flatline in my breath test so my doctor suspected H2S sibo. I also had a stools test which showed that I had high levels of proteus and klebsiella and I was ultimately treated with Bactrim but I felt way worse than before and it has been a few months. I was wondering if you think that I still have H2S sibo or could it be something that is not being detected yet? Thanks

    • @BartonellaBabe
      @BartonellaBabe  3 роки тому

      Thanks for watching! Are you able to do the trio smart test? If yes, I would do that. If not, I would say that it is entirely possible that you still have H2S SIBO after treating with Bactrim, especially if you were not on a prokinetic to maintain remission. The stool test showing Klebsiella and Proteus only show that it is in the stool and don't necessarily mean it's in the small intestine. According to Dr. Pimentel, the small and large bowel are two completely different worlds and he has shown this through his research

    • @BartonellaBabe
      @BartonellaBabe  3 роки тому +2

      That’s such a good question and I’m not going to act like I know the answer. I have heard Pimentel say that he doesn’t have patients do any sort of diet while they are treating so that the microbes can “come out” and you can whack them with antibiotics. I can’t see how that would be any different with herbal antibiotics

    Thank you for sharing all this information. I've had sibo for years but only diagnosed recently. The drs only tried 2 antibiotics and then have given up and are now saying they're not sure I have sibo because the rifaximin and doxycycline didn't work. A couple of years ago I had amoxicillin for a sinus infection and it was the best my stomach felt but drs are ignoring that and not willing to prescribe it. They also don't believe hydrogen sulphide sibo is a thing which is very frustrating!! I clearly have worse symptoms when I have higher suplhur foods

I also have candida issues which isn't helping but I don't hold out hope they will treat me for that. I've been trying different things out kinda like trial and error as I feel let down by the drs. Hi Jake. I have read that the desulfovibrio bacteria and species that cause h2s sibo can produce beta lactam, that is, they are not sensitive to augmentin. I have read in many places. but why is augmentin recommended? When it comes to antibiotic resistance, I may only have one shot. and rifaximin didn't work. I’m so confused.

    • @BartonellaBabe
      @BartonellaBabe  3 роки тому

      We actually don’t know yet which bacteria cause H2S SIBO. The hypotheses that it may be due to Desulfovibrio spp. are just hypotheses. I think Dr. Pimentel hinted the other week at what the bacteria are that cause H2S SIBO are on his Twitter but he has not yet published their findings on this topic, as far as I’m aware.
      I took rifaximin once and it didn’t do anything for me either. When I used mucolytics with it, that’s what brought my H2S SIBO into remission

    • @baffledwaffle
      @baffledwaffle 2 роки тому +2

      That's what the clavulanate is for. It's a becta-lactamase inhibitor, so when you combine it with amoxicillin (the two are in Augmentin) it allows amoxicillin to kill more of the bacteria that produce becta-lactamase.

      Cyril is exactly right. They are hoping to get the machines to other countries so that the tests can be available there but idk when that is going to happen. Just started working with Dr.Khangura and am so impressed with his knowledge!
    I'm curious about the bismuth-- do you think that it turning the tongue black is a really good indicator of h2S? I don't remember that ever happening before all my gut issues, but when I take it now (and I def Have h2S) my tongue gets black.

    • @BartonellaBabe
      @BartonellaBabe  3 роки тому +1

      No turning the tongue black isn’t an indicator that one has H2S SIBO. All humans create hydrogen sulfide from their own mammalian cells (in small quantities) so the tongue would turn black in those that don’t have SIBO. Also, the tongue is not indicative of what’s happening in the small intestine. The tongue turning black is just visual evidence that bismuth binds with hydrogen sulfide to create bismuth sulfide 🙂 it turns your stool black too but that still doesn’t mean you have hydrogen sulfide SIBO. Having hydrogen sulfide in the stool is normal and stool can’t tell you what’s going on in the small intestine
      So glad to hear you’re working with Dr. Khangura and are having a positive experience with him! Here is to you kicking your gut issues 🥂

    I just came across your you tube site and found it very informative. found you when I started searching why bismuth is used in combination with xifaxin. I I am on antibiotic for SIBO hydrogen. I was only tested one time and now I am taking xifaxin for the second time. I was watching Dr. Siebecker and host Shivan Sarna on a Zoom meeting and I am trying to digest all the current information on treating SIBO hydrogen. Can you tell me if there is two or three types of SIBO - I know of methane and hydrogen from my one test done. Is this Hydrogen Sulfide the third type? Can you tell me how to order the test you are referring about here? I feel that I should test when I finish the antibiotic because my gastoenterologist does not recommend a followup test. From listening to this I feel like I should take the bismuth and eat a regular diet while on the antibiotic. I find it hard to follow the FODMAP diet along with no sugar or dairy.
