- I'm sure nothing can go wrong with installing an AI to handle to day to day running of this spaceship. Never heard of a story which would say otherwise!

The amount of time an FTD Episode takes to be made is not to be underestimated. 10 hours gameplay condensed into 25 minutes WOW! And then I guess editing takes some time too. Hats off to the dedication. The product is really enjoyable and well worth the wait.
Just wait until you figure out how much Stellaris takes...
Yea I got into from the depths recently because of Lathrix and had no idea how much time it takes until I started playing it and how much in depth the game actually is to make things function the way you want them to
@@d4rkether48 They've done a lot of work to make the game more accessible. Prefabs for most things allow you to focus on the basics instead of having to learn everything at once. Certainly ship hull prefabs are one of the best additions. Since placing down a bunch of blocks and realizing it looks wrong probably isn't how someone wants to start in FTD.
@@solsystem1342 I've never actually played the game but I remember back in the neter campaign lathrix did in 2017 that any time he experimented with a new system that would be basically an entire episode, so I'm sure the prefab system has helped a lot
Lathrix : “destroy them!”
AI : “I’m afraid I can’t let you do that Lathrix”
Good thing Lathrix is a good guy and even AI will eventually be corrupted by Chaos.
Wait, no, i mean will be forced to see the error of its ways.
No, Wait, no-no-no, i mean the machine-spirit of this craft will be appeased and persuaded to do the Right thing.
Yes. This is exactly what i meant to say from the beginning, Inquisitor.
can i go home plz?
no?
why?
NO PLEASE WA-
got you. There is no 'quistors here. Only CHAOS.
This particular one is more aligned to Khorne, but what's interesting is that at first i liked Slaanesh, my actual actions are probably most beneficial to Tzeentch and well Nurgle is kinda alright.
Guess in the end of it all, we, people, are all Chaos Undivided. Which makes sence, if you think of it just a little.
The AI may be merciful, but Lathrix isn't.
Imagine, multi billion dollar warship AI and it turns out to be pacifistic.
Lathrix: Now lets add the eyes of this AI...
AI: Wait, I'm not a boat?!
@@derp1234 In order to avoid any damage to yourself, the logical decision is for everyone to just unanimously choose not to fight.
FTD is a series I wish to see continued in the future.
Always.
Of course
Every time i watch these im just like “dang i wish these were on the workshop...” very cool
Yeah, I know right? I still would love the various phases of the submarine he had in his last adventure mode.
The tiny drone craft should be what takes up the open space at the front of the craft. It'd be like an escape pod.
As a wise cyborg once said, "Time to abandon ship!"
Like a stick millennium falcon
my thoughts exactly

FtD will always be my favorite series.
Seen every episode, some multiple times. Watching Lathrix's FtD vids has legit made me a better FtD builder, I've learned a lot.
I know same, and yet Lathrix still always talks about how bad he is at building.
Same, his FtD videos are just the best. Learned a lot about armouring and balancing from him. And all his creations, especially those from the past three years are unique looking and pretty. I already played this game before structure beams were added but I still can't make my crafts look even remotely as stylistic as his.
Same. I won't talk negative towards Stellaris, outside of the rampant dlc it's obviously a platform for shoveling, buy I will say I appreciate a certain other more sophisticated and modable 4x... That said, make mine FTD, for which lathrix is the king of content.
@@tekoimming1943 Borderwise is amazing, fam.
Would love to see a rapid-fire weapons themed adventure run now that the ideas been put into my head
Lathrix: 'lasers will never have the sheer bulk damage of other weapons but I'm finding them so satisfyingly calming'
the several onix watch crews below him on the ships: *many panicked drowning noises after a calming laser burned their faces of*
I'd like to see an RTG only challenge, where you try to do an entire adventure mode campaign without ever using a material burning engine.
Totally possible. The first weapon shouldn't be something energy based, but after you get your first 100k there isn't much of a downside anymore.
To be fair, rtg is often used in the best mode(adventure, obviously xD).
Literally every single one of my runs is rtg only
@9:00 or so
*Summons in enemy to test if ship can shoot down incoming missiles*
"Oh drat, it isn't shooting missiles. Just machineguns."
*Meanwhile, ship is shooting down hundreds of bullets*
That is officially the most successful failure this test could have.
Honestly, i thing this craft should get a really massive engine. Incredible overkill, maybe 80-100k mats, just to make sure there is enough engine power for "sharing".
I would really like the addition of some sort of super powerful fixed weapon, like a cleansing beam on Halo covenant ships, that fired directly downward but could devastate enemies in a single shot/pulse.
hey lathrix i watched a lot of your from the depths series when i was like 6 or 7 i was always very interested in the series. and rewatched it multiple times. this is my first time watching you in years thiught i might as well comment
Same! i was also at around 6 or 7 when i saw your from the depths Khorne-themed campaign, and i forgot the name for ages. when i rewatched it it was nostalgia like never before.
@@koenhartholt7033 seriously it was an amazing experience. and still is my favorite ship no doubt about it was ecoli
Welcome back
@@codybailey6264 thanks
Fr tho I was still in school when I first watched the earlier FTD series now I'm an adult with a job. XD
Hey Lathrix, how would you feel about a “warship” campaign? Maybe doing some light historical research, and implementing some design principles? Like a citadel, or superfiring turrets, or long-and-thin hull shapes? Just an idea pitch
((Also, if you do sponsorships, World of Warships is very trigger-happy to sponsor small creators))
To be honest Lath, lasers are great, except at finishing the job on a lot of ships. Some sort of an APS burst system when above the target would be quite entertaining I feel like (Imagine dumping 50+ HESH shells almost directly at once onto a target from above: You could break a lot of important components easily). Best part is, you could get away with low power for said weapon. It's quite easy to do and the gravity would only accelerate it towards the target.
Lathrix, the heavy armour does not protect against EMP currently. A emp PAC will be maximum cheese.
Since its no longer a dragonfly, would it be considered a Doomfly?
I wish adventure mode let you select the type of enemies you would face. So you could select space craft.
I dont think FTD has enough spacefaring ships to make that viable, and the ones that are all belong to scarlet dawn
The game really could do with a space based campaign.
@@egoalter1276 pretty sure some people over in the modding community are working on that
« We’re turning this thing into a Space Battleship. »
Now I want to see Lathrix make a Space Battleship Yamato ship, simply amazing.
Wave motion gun plz?
Yes, because absolutely no-one ever builds the Yamato
a nice orbiting 'defense' turret, something that fly's around you with lasers shooting down shells and missiles and intercepting lasers, would be very cool to see.
The way you retrofit this craft is so similar to a videogame that has tier upgrades of the same ship. I love it.
FTD is indeed a series I would like to see continued!
Hey Lathrix, loving the content :)
Just commenting letting you know that I really love ftd and would love to see more of it :D
I had an idea about the name, how about the Void Baron?
It's not an AI if you use human brains in your mainframe. Just like the ever so good Imperium of Man.
add a swarm to the ship, NOT ONLY just a swarm !!
make like...
a nuke, and a laser, and a missile, and a harpoons with melee parts, and a cramcanon swarm.....
make them look the same but different weapons.
From the depths Session/Scenario idea:
AI Commander, you have 2x more resources (+other additions) but you cannot do any manual controlling for battle and must let AI control the ships 'n stuff, could also have a mothership or like ship size scales with difficulty meaning you have to have multiple smaller ships. Would be really cool to see that tbh
Hey there! Love your videos, especially the FTD series! You have such talent for designing so beatiful ships (end explosions). One thing I never understood was one word from the introduction. You say: "Sirs and []" What is that word ecactly?
Sirettes
i've been waiting for something like this for a while, a spaceship that just flies over and obliterates everything with lasers (or voidrays). The only thing left that could be better is putting on a huge particle cannon that you use to take out massive ships.
I feel like I forgot something, maybe I need a SUBTLE reminder.
22:55 "Cram is never gonna hit us again." But it hit u . - . there go 19 blocks (i'm just feeling protective of crams)
X4 power and hp generation to properly support your Lazer. Whatever it demands. X4 the supply
if you still want to keep some plane aesthetics, you could add some forward-swept wings onto the aft of the main fuselage, right before your engine compartment.
@Lathland if you are close enough to an object you can use ctrl + caps lock while looking a something to lock the camera onto it. Also if you move the camera after that using wasd you can then move it freely
yes... the algorithm is always right, but our favorite subtle thing is far more effective
This ship reminds me of the mining barges from EVE Online with it's shape, front bit, and turret placements.
Please give us the blueprints of the various stages of this thing!
@Lathland any chance of you adding some harpoons and pulling ships into space?
FTD adventure series where it is nearly entirely controlled by an AI?
Any chance these will be on the workshop, looks amazing
You could make the drone craft a PAC bomber…
Ah, yes. Murderous AI
The best kind of AI
Never heard of the game but hey apparently after watching some evil genius 2(which I also was randomly recommended) UA-cam has found out my love for space games....also I love the ships design, as a general fan of red, white, and black all together and it's general shape makes it look more...dangerous.
The game is primarily naval based, and has a pretty in depth building system.
9:18 - Thousands of bullets and a repeat of the Malal's Will that had enough dakka to despawn it's munitions before they could even reach the enemy.
Yeah. Manual targeting did always feel rather cheesy and killed the excitement a bit.
New defense mechanism just dropped, fill the air with thousands of shells and simply despawn you opponents shells
When is next campaign video please?
I would still like to see this continued
Started playing recently, and my first functional creation is a somewhat small, low altitude hovering brick of alloy with a laser turret. Surprisingly effective for a first creation, and still capable of controlling it's movement enough to stay stable even when it was down to 60% health.
11:20 This shot reminds me of Normandy SR-1 and Normandy SR-2 lol.
The ship is overall bigger and better than a predecessor, with more everything. Love to see these transformations.
Oh, there is a tour through generations just a bit later. Neat!
When you first pitched this idea, I thought of a really long ship, builded arrownd a cannon pointing down. Meaning tall spire of a cannon flanked with big thrusters. ... And the "canon" would only release a low propelled giant missile.
*@Lathland*
23:49 Can you make some kind of RIDICULOUS harpoon weapon?
Like, lift a boat up to space* & dropping it back down? :D
(*give it a push into the atmosphere, or cut the wires just before entering space),
Does the AI say "Listening" or "Blitzkrieg"? I'm always struggeling to understand this AI xD
Fully Automated Luxury Dyslexic Space Deathbeams
I think the problem is pitch, boats (expt for hydrofoil boats) usually don`t have a pitching mechanism, As the boat rarely needs pitching. Just my theory. I'm a bad FTD builder so take my theory on why with a ten grains of salt.
Friend Computer sais: Like the Algorythm. - I like the Lagorythm. simple as. because I am a loyal Friend of Friend Computer an not a Commi
Can you PLEASE tell me how you control altitude in that way? I see you doing it every video but I never saw an explanation. Ian able to do it with a complex controller but not if a normal vehicle controller is present.
And how do you make manual override PIDs? For me they always try to fight back.
really enjoyed this episode! frankly I always love the building episodes the most they're always fascinating, and you always have such unique designs.
I LOVE the idea of using a smaller shuttle for various surface level things. I've been wanting to see it ever since the first time I saw you flirt with making a spacecraft for one of your adventure mode playthroughs.
Actually, if you're already playing with AI and planning to use deployable ships, why not also add a couple of AI fighters, maybe even a couple of knife missiles with plasma cutters? You want your ship to have some culture, right?
09:30 - thousands of bullets eh? How about a more contemporary railgun? One, that needs the vehicle to be transported and deplyed, pretty much like that humungous railgun we know from navy test shooting. a RAILgun so to speak.^^ Would allow for the lasers to be more of a secondary damage dealer of sorts.
dude press end for a cross section and give us a tour of it's anatomy, it's way more interesting than it sounds.
to cut building time significantly (im talking like 80%) make adventure ships in stages like butterflies, fat caterpillar of mostly hollow space, cocoon of work in progress internals, and finally a deadly fully functional butterfly.
my adventure ships went from 10 hour refits to 2 hour upgrades using this method
Lathrix: "trust the Algorithm, like the vid"
Me: "must click like" Beep Boop
Lathrix, can this please be the episode where you stop saying "my builds are bad/ugly"? This ship looks incredible and would be perfectly at home in a sci-fi film.
Nope, the Algorithm is not controlling Lathrix... and I am clearly not an AI commenting on a video of a man being controlled by a machine. Praise be to the algorithm, 01000001 01101101 01100101 01101110.
Been watching your FTD content exclusively for probably six years now, I don't even play anymore and still stop in to see what you're up to!
how about a huge stardestroyer-esk ship named Shadow of Annihilation, then it having a superweapon called The Annihilator
When you initially mentioned a secondary craft to go through portals, I initially imagined a space shuttle like thing which lifted the main craft into and out of the atmosphere. 😂 Just switching between two craft is probably the better decision.
Lathrix we beg of you not to turn this into another battleship, in the end it feels same ish. At this point it would be the 3rd battleship? If you can stay with a space design like maybe a Battle barge or a Star Destroyer it'd look way cooler than another WWII battleship but this time in space
I think 2 to 4 turrets that hover around the craft would be cool. I think using a dock mounted on a spin block would allow them to be a fair distance away from the craft and be hard to hit. Btw I love your content. Your amazing. I hope to see more great content and don't work to hard.
I’d like to see an adventure mode playthrough where you are a pirate that steals ships and converts them into your fleet of minions that do your bidding, there could just be a massive lead ship that has many other ships, submarines, planes, blimps, and even space craft that could follow behind
I enjoyed the video but somewhere around 5:35 I was compelled to press the like button, I was going to anyway but it was weird.
I miss "Building the Fleet".
I'd love to see something like "Building the Subsystems" kinda in that old style.
So, do you ever plan to play Empyrion?🤔
It's literally a perfect for the channel...
Tired me sitting here, wondering why those White Flayer ships have a Gong Control .... yeah .... more sleep is needed.
He really did destroy those harpoon’s dreams like that, they were just trying their best. Great video as always, love FtD, wish I had the time/brain to play it myself but this is more than fine till then
Idea for a future series would be making something more like an ork rok or a space hulk.
For the ork rok it would be more of a design challenge, but you could do a space hulk challenge where you aren’t allowed to delete any of your craft, you just have to build new modules around the old.
I think a fuel engine that kicks in when the batteries are low would be great idea to help cover those times where you have to fight longer than your storage can handle. Running out of power in a fight can be lethal and frustrating.
Anyways, the craft looks utterly gorgeous.
I had to come from your old series to bring you a futuristic idea. So imagine the body has a rotating gun battery so that your ship can still engage with high priority guns during broadside while smaller guns can be in better position to engage multiple targets at close range. You base entire ship around the biggest railgun possible, equip it with a super fast engine then add rear wings to stabilize. Basically keeping all the munitions forward and all the engine at the back would allow for the forward section to be lost without the aft section losing functionality
man, the ships I make look terrible and barely function. How he do such good job?
got this game. an i'm in agreeance with you. My ship got wrecked by a single ship but not bad enough to kill it. i was able to hop out and just win the battle on my own. the LVL up thing should return or something as being this overpowered its weird.
Anyone else reminded of the Avorion series? Specifically the battleship form the first season?
I'm fascinated about your control configuration, like how you can lock the pitch of an aircraft or manage the altitude of your craft, but i can't figure it out how to do, and that's why i'm with the boat, can you make a video about how you do that pls?
Liked and here's the Comment! I love this series, I do kind of wish you would show more of how you do some of the settings, but that's cool, thanks so much for this!
Next time you play Stellaris you should do a full playthrough with the C6 species portrait mod.
You could always use that secondary craft, intended for gates, as a targeting scout. Make it armored and mobile enough to act as a skirmisher to set targets for the main craft. That way you can do manual targeting in a practical way that is both cool and appeals to your need for balance
I really kinda want to see a co-op campaign from you, and a friend. Either in regular quest for neter, or ashes of the empire.
In my own opinion I feel like a fun adventure mode would to be an aircraft carrier or something like that where you can only attack by sending out small planes or something
As a challenge, I would love to see a campaign using the most traditional/realistic units you can make.
stupid idea for taking off from water level ... baloons you can trigger
Why don’t you make you back thrusters move up and down to angle you’re self
The moment when you realise this series is already a month old
Time flew past faster than the Flying squrrel on 10x mode
Are going for a space-based mothership in the future? I would like it if so.
"It currently thinks its a ship", that's not an Artificial intelligence that's an artificial stupidity
Soo, do you ever plan on doing another AOTE campaign?, I really enjoyed the seasons you made already.
i have a idea for the engines some thing like the star wars CR90 corvette so double engines stacked ontop if eachother or something like that would be pretty nice to see also great vid
So what is your opinion on the current state of the quest for Neter campaign?
maby instead off using up and down thrusters you could make a warp thing that warps you up and down
The spaceship looks like it was designed after an Angel from Evangelion. I love it.
can you make a 10-hours uncut video? would be interesting
All glory to the algorithmotoad! Seriously loving the series and the ship looks great.
Yes
After comparing the thumbnail of the first video to this one, I kinda wonder how we got here.
