It was a blustery day! I really enjoyed the video. My only criticism is, if I understand correctly, you're flying a drone for the follow-cam footage you have? Even as an experienced cyclist, I would be uncomfortable having that buzz by me. If you need a follow-rider for Cascade rides, I'd happily volunteer. 🙂
Yes it's the hover air x1. Point taken! It's one of the new ones with no exposed propellers and super small/light so I wasn't worried about harming others and I wasn't ever going above 10 mph. Just trying new things and I'll definitely make sure to find better ways to keep it safe! I might take you up on that offer.
I love all the drone footage, your narration and interviews. You do a really great job of showing what the event/course is about so that people considering it in the future will have a better idea of what to expect. Keep it up, Hanoch! I have ridden Chilly Hilly once. This year I volunteered at the bag drop truck, so I missed saying hello to a lot of familiar faces, but I did have fun talking to newbies and giving encouragement.
Great event coverage of this annual ride. I've done it twice about 10 years ago. One year it was cold but sunny. The year after it was cold, it rained, and it even snowed a little bit.
I was a little start struck meeting you! Keep doing what you’re doing with this channel because it’s such an inspiration and reaffirms how wonderful the biking community is here.
Nice video, Hanock. You captured the event perfectly. Love the drone and interviews. The best parts are Peterson and Baker hills. CH is a benchmark to see how fit you are for the coming year. It was really nice meeting you.
Haha it was a pleasure to finally meet you. I really appreciate you as a long time watcher of the channel. Hope you found something warm after the ride.
This was my first year- I always wait to register because I'm chicken of it being too cold/wet! I was pleasantly surprised to stay dry all day, and really- the hills aren't TOO bad! You caught me a couple of times in your video, wearing my Biking Viking horns. We ride & fundraise every year for the MS Societys Deception Pass Classic. Join us!
Great video! It captured the whole vibe of the Chilly Hilly as an opportunity to connect with other riders who enjoy “Type II Fun”. As a first timer I had psyched myself up for Baker Hill but I thought it wasn’t nearly as tough as some of the other climbs. Those short, punchy rollers really tested my fitness.
@@BestSideCyclingI think there were the same amount on the early ferry. The upper decks were full so I left my bike on the bottom, center area. Bikes on bikes on bikes 😁😁😁
Awesome share as always man! BTW, what drone are you using? Still planning on making another bike trip to Seattle...just not sure yet which ride I want to do...lol... (RSVP, Vancouver to Whistler, Olympic Discovery Trail)...but hoping I'll be back there again this year! 😊
I missed the Arrow Point climb when I rode the Chilly Hilly….since I got flat tire right after crossing the state route 🥲 I need to ride it again so my Strava record will be complete 😂 It is always amusing to see you passing everyone going up the hill, even with all the camera equipments.
Wait, so you got transported to the rest stop? You definitely need to go back then. Haha, yeah I was also being extra careful to not roll too fast to drop my camera or leave too big a gap.
There's three ferries, 7:55, 8:55 and 9:35 and the finish line is open until 3pm so it's spread out some! Though I think the first two ferries are more full so it ends up being about early afternoon being the busiest!
awesome video! What's the product you used to hang our GoPro around your neck? That's so cool. Is it stable enough to get good videos? I can see it's a bit shaky from your videos, but I would like to hear your thoughts.
I use the main chesty mount from GoPro. Stability of the shots for go pro highly depends on lighting: it's variable and really not good in low light. Also I was probably shifting around a lot for some of these climbs so a bit of user error. The official chest mount is quite good
@@BestSideCycling oh i see. I didn't notice it's the official chesty mount. I thought it's something you can mount on the neck. i googled it and found out such thing really exists lol
No worries there's always next year! There are plenty of people who walk the hills and there are ways to shorten the course as well down to 20 miles but training up some would definitely enhance the experience.
I wonder if riders realize how unpleasant it is to live on Bainbridge during your “Seattle Classic “. Many of you have no consideration of the fact the roads are not closed for your event. I stay home to avoid the bicyclists. Many of you cheat and do not stay on course. Many of you ride in clumps that cars cannot pass. Its not safe, you can see in the footage how inconsiderate the riders are.
What did you think of the ride? Did you join in the fun this year? Would you ride it next year? Let me know what you think of the video.

I’ll try next year. I have to work for a year being more comfortable and have good stamina on the hills
Fun to see Chilly Hilly, did a few times around 40 years ago. I’m a long way away, now living in France

Thanks so much for your kind words! I appreciate it. Thanks for all your work volunteering!
Nice documentation of the event! This popped up in my algorithm and glad I gave it a watch
Welcome and glad you enjoyed the video! Lots more Seattle cycling content to come as the season starts up
This ride goes right past my house! I love the chilly hilly. Never ridden in it, but it makes me happy seeing everyone else riding. Maybe next year!
What a fantastic vlog! Thanks for taking the time to share first-hand experience of Chilly Hilly, complete with chili reviews!
Thank you for putting up such a fantastic event :)

Yes! I'm a fan of these shorter event routes... just gets way more people out there! The chilliness and hilliness does make it interesting :)
I come back every year just to give and get encouragement from Danny!
Hahaha he is pretty awesome!
A "self-driving" drone... very cool!
Great video and footage and narrating! We live here on B.I. Love to see all the riders. You guys all rock!!
Awesome and thanks so much for hosting us. :) hopefully someday you'll join in on the fun too
I loved this video!!! Thank you so much!!! 🎉 it really makes me want to train and come to the next chilly hilly 😃

Haha it was so great to meet you! Flattering but I'm just another Seattle cyclist. Keep it up and hope to see you out there :)
Hey, I'm Chris the one with my son in the WeeHoo! Great to finally meet you in person!
Great time chatting with you both and glad you had a fun time! Hope to see you again soon

@@BestSideCycling I/we did on the ferry. The chili is great but would have missed the ferry if we stayed for it.

Glad you enjoyed it! Sadly I didn't make it to the earlier ferry to catch your experiences. How many people were there comparatively?

Your best video so far from production standpoint, great job man! This is a perfect intro to the ride for any new riders in the future! 😊
Thanks for the kind words man. Definitely one of the first rides where my main focus was filming the event 🎉

Hover air x1! It's a new fun piece of tech I got last black Friday
Wow thats a quick turn around time, Hope you did not lose too much sleep lol
😅 editing this video in time was definitely more exhausting than the ride itself. Worth it though haha
This was fun! Watched from the east coast….love that area. Thanks for posting
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks so much for watching!
amazing turnout! Awesome job on the video
Definitely wasn't expecting so many people and thank you!

Would have loved to c ppl actually cheering when finished 🎉 Pregunta, does everyone finish around about the same time frame?

It was Windy Hilly. Too cozy to ride. Chili tasted better with last year’s snow slush ;)
Haha if you look extra closely you'll notice I took off my rain pants and gloves mid ride. Warm indeed
my schedule didn't work out this time but hoping for next year. i had so much fun a couple of years ago.
Still lots of riding left this season! Hope to see you out

Was there, have the Strava to prove it.
Well done and great ride! What was your favorite part?
I'm hoping I can get fit enough and starting biking enough to join chilly hilly 2025!
Great goal, there's also a "hidden" shorter option that you can learn more about in my other video or on the website. Hope to see you there.
Which make/model light did you have on your handlebars?
Towild bike light from Amazon!
How COLD???? im in Florida, we get more HEAT then Cold... Never heard of this bike in Seatle.. thank you
Haha yeah it's a very classic ride! Come up to try it.
@BestSideCycling Sounds like a Ride I would do without the cold.
Is the Route available on RWGPS??
I'll look for the Ride. Thank you
I wanted to be part of this but I really struggle with just two hills in my commute, and I foresaw all these hills being maybe too much for me 🥲🥲😢
