      It's a stabiliser for a trailing wire static source which measures static pressure readings free of any air disturbance near the aircraft itself.

    I fly these things for a living. All I want to know is:
    1. Are the seats any more comfortable ?
    2. Is the flight deck any wider ?
    3. Is the flight deck significantly quieter?

      Boeing Industries was founded in 1916 and now we have 2016 - so Boeing starts the second century since their establishment.
      ... But Boeing Industries "says" that Boeing was established on the 15th July in 1916 that would mean that the first century of Boeing is not completed.

    Could someone please explain the new features? The split winglet, the hemisphere on the fuselage, the small chute on the tail... Doesn't it add up to drag? The chute I mean...

      The drogue is only on the flight test airplanes. The split winglets, newer engines and wider fuselage are the main features.

      Wider fuselage as well. The plane is much quieter, more fuel efficient, and has better emissions.
