I think what I like the most is that it doesn't use bleed air for pressurization so we finally have an aeroplane without the risk of TCP poisoning to passengers.
Although I've never been a fan of the 787's nose from a purely aesthetic point of view, I absolutely love her gorgeous wing design and high bypass engines, and the added 20 feet has certainly improved her overall appearance! She's not my favourite Boeing aircraft.....but she is definitely growing on me.
Congrats to everyone Boeing. It's good to see innovative aircraft technology like this coming from American designers and manufacturers. It makes everyone in America proud of you. And thanks for taking the state of aircraft technology forward again, Boeing.
The gear is typically left down on an aircraft's maiden flight. It's a precautionary measure to simplify the test flight as much as is practical, and to reduce the possibility of something malfunctioning in the gear mechanism if it were operated. Moreover, the landing gear is one of the most complex and critical systems in an aircraft, and if there is no need to operate it in such a short test flight, then you don't. In later flights, the gear is retracted as routine.
It is always cool and exciting to see a plane like this beautiful and anticipated making its first flight. Even more, seeing it land first. Congratulations, Boeing. Very good this plane. But still my favorite is the Boeing 777.
Two Questions: (1) As the -9 is landing, you can see a long string attached to the tail, with something at the end. It almost looks like a deflated balloon string that got stuck on the tail. What is it? And (2), why did it fly with the landing gear deployed the entire time? Thanks in advance for your answers, and AWESOME job to the Boeing team!! Boeing is one of only a few US-based manufacturers that has survived the last several decades of globalization.
I am very grateful that Boeing seems to have put the worst of the 787 production problems behind them to focus on besting their arch-adversary in the arena of the sky.
Thanks Boeing, now I will have a harder time to tell the difference between the 777 with raked wingtip and the -9.... Hope to ride one of the 787 variant in the future.
You can barely tell this and the A350 apart. At least it didn't burst into flames or vent smoke or the wing stabilisers jam....I'm sure it will be a success, as will the A350 be, in the end we need both of them to be a success from any global perspective.
Nice plane, Boeing. what most of us are looking for is a plane that looks more futuristic (2016). You've taken and old Boeing 707 and up graded it and made it wider. Element 115 should give you the fuel needed to launch a most futuristic plane.
Fortunately I had the opportunity on July 25 to be in the plant of the Boeing Everett Tour the foundation of the future of the factory of Boeing, which saw the construction of the B787; B777 and B737 freighter, of which I am very proud because in calendas flew past the B720, B707 and Boeing 727-200 of this great American company for commercial aircraft. BOEING DOES NOT BUILD AIRCRAFT SUCH AS THE AWESOME DREAMLINER BUT WORKS OF ART,BOEING IS THE MOST AWESOMEST AEROSPACE COMPANY ON GODS GREEN EARTH.BOEING FOREVER NEW FRONTIERS.
G6 i7hhnnnnhbu6 I oooooooo to do it, but I think I have a great day. I am not a good idea 2nd place to live with a new phones and a few weeks 1st, but it was not 22nd, so we have to do this 11th St Louis 2nd place to live with a newer one. phones and a few weeks. I'm , but if but it was, but it was no way of saying u 2nd
I am normally an airbus fan especially of the A350. But the 787-9 and the 77W are gorgeous. Congrats Boeing
The most graceful and elegant plane of today!
What a gorgeous aircraft... You've done it again, Boeing! :D
I think what I like the most is that it doesn't use bleed air for pressurization so we finally have an aeroplane without the risk of TCP poisoning to passengers.
What a peaceful group of people made this airplane. I love be in your team! Great job guys! God bless you.
i helped build the 41 section (nose to the first nine windows) i am a composite repairman and ive been in one and its great (-8 that is)

The A350 and 787 must be some of the most beautiful airliners in history.
Congrats to everyone Boeing. It's good to see innovative aircraft technology like this coming from American designers and manufacturers. It makes everyone in America proud of you. And thanks for taking the state of aircraft technology forward again, Boeing.
She is stunningly beautiful! Congrats to you all at Boeing for a job well done!
Apart from the Concorde, the 787-9 is the most beautiful jet I've seen.
I watched it live. You all did a very nice job! BOEING
Gorgeous wing design.

Yeah, saw it live. What a beautiful moment! Lovely bird!
Some people are just born to FLY!
That Quick? You guys are the experts!
Congrats on the smooth and beautiful flight. A great move of B787
Congratulations, Boeing. Job well done.
I wish you much success with Boeing of the new variant of the 787
Congratulations again; another game-changer!
De stroomlijn van de 787 als passagiers vliegtuig is mooi.
De landing is uitstekend.
Beautiful aircraft! Great filming!
finally this aircraft looks "in proportion"
I think its one of my fav boeing airplanes....
It would be nice if we can see the whole show for those who were at work then :-)
Love all things Boeing!!! None better!
Such a beautiful airplane!! Congrats Boeing!!!!
stupid question, but, why on test flights do they not retract the landing gear?

But still my favorite is the Boeing 777.
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Boeing aircraft RULE the skies!
THAT IS BOEING FOR YOU! EXCELLENT WORK!!!!!!!!!!
nice plane, can't wait til the 787 10
Canni Pessoa how can I be an idiot u numpty I was making a decent comment
WOW! What an amazing aircraft, hopefully I'll get to ride on one like this someday.

I think the landing gear stays down on test flights for safety.
super video mate thanks for posting and thats a like and fav.
took 3 days to upload this video!
and congratulation!!
simply amazing aircraft..congratulations Boeing :)
Thanks Boeing, now I will have a harder time to tell the difference between the 777 with raked wingtip and the -9....
Hope to ride one of the 787 variant in the future.
YA SEE THIS AIRBUS?? THIS 787-9 IS CALLED REAL ENGINEERING!!
Why was there so much flutter on the left tail wing during the entire landing roll? Good first flight all around though!
I love this sort of info. Thanks!
Wow the 787 looks well designed now
Will one of the test aircraft be in Air New Zealand livery?
Are all those planes in the lot Boeing 787 and the 787 series?
How efficient is this thing? Certainly a looker!
love the airfoil of the 787
Looks great!
I watched this live.

Why are the winglets no longer used on the new wing design?
very beautiful plane

is this composite body recyclable?
amazing aircraft! my number one!
What's the difference. Is it longer or something
Looking forward to see her at Farnborough 2014
What is new with the 787 dash 9?
Did he fly with the landing gear's down all the time?
Whythey didin't retract the gears ? For safety procedure?
I have a question. Why does the tail flutter on landing
has American airlines ordered any 787 and 787-9 's ?

Is it going to catch fire?
whats wrong with recording with an iPhone?
my favorite will be the longest version you make
nice video!!
Awesome plane.
Why is the gear down?
Absolutely Awesome The BOEING 787! PERFECT!
Fantastic video , Go Boeing :-)
why is it flying with its gear up?
The 787 will make an excellent replacement for the A310 with a whole lot more benefits
Boeing = Perfection In Flight.
This plane is awesome!!!!!!!!
BOEING DOES NOT BUILD AIRCRAFT SUCH AS THE AWESOME DREAMLINER BUT WORKS OF ART,BOEING IS THE MOST AWESOMEST AEROSPACE COMPANY ON GODS GREEN EARTH.BOEING FOREVER NEW FRONTIERS.
I love it's beautiful wing and I think it's very cute
1) does anyone know why the landing gear wasn't raised during the flight?
2) whats a visual difference between the 787-8 and -9 series? anyone?
Not as popular, but certainly better.
We make the parts here in America for Dream liner -9 :)
What's the difference to -8
Very elegant. Congratulations to BOEING.
can somebody clear up what happened with the landing gear doors on takeoff??
...lindo demais! Um sonho! Belo avião, bela cor, belo tudo!

Why didnt he retract the gear?
It's a stretched version of a -8.
The first 787-9 will be delivered to Air New Zealand
20 feet longer. Holds 40 more passengers
The landing gears did not come up
During test flights they don't raise them....
0:47 - You call 3 years behind schedule "amazingly smooth development process"?
For the first hour they need to do some test and this tests are made with the gear down. Later, in the flight, the put it up...
6 days till my first Dreamliner Flight! :)
They always fly with their gear down on first flights. The a350 did that too.
got to agree with Boeing..it's a beautiful airplane
Why didn't the landing gear close?
that is normal for this kind of flights
On most first flights, the aircraft flies fairly low and slow, and there is no need to retract the landing gear.
Being unfamiliar with aircraft testing, could someone tell me why they left the gear down throughout the flight?
Most first flight of a new kind of aircraft goes low and slow so you don't need to retract
Whoa! Go, Boeing! Next step, Boeing 787-10...
The pilot did bring d landing gear up but the tyres dint move, only those valves did(i dont know what they are called though). 1:40 - 1:42
