Boeings fault for making the 777 so good! And engine manufacturers increase in reliability and engine efficiency made the need for 4 engines (for transatlantic flying) entirely redundant. Pity really, I like the 747, but airlines work on profit, and using a fleet of 777's or A380's is more beneficial for profit than the 747.
I booked a flight home from my overseas deployment, on a specific airline, just to be able to fly on the 747-8i. Even though it was significant more expensive :) I'm sad to see the production has slowed but hopefully the -8 and future variants will fly for many decades to come.
+cnknguyen *The Jumbo Jets used to be the only Long Range Aircraft, but now the Twin Engine Airliners are so efficient that they're more profitable than the 747's. For example the new 737 Max can fly across the Atlantic.*
Thanks Joe for this legacy to humanity and your teachings and concepts that have made possible other large aircraft. Airbus took your concepts and assumptions and thereby made possible the A380. different times, different tecnologis but the same challenge that the 747 in 1965.
I can't believe they didn't mention Joe Sutter. He is the real godfather of the 747. If it wasn't for him there wouldn't of been a 747, he was fighting for the 747 program because everyone else at Boeing only wanted a supersonic plane.
If you look at 1:10, you see the Airbus A380, but Boeing didn't like the idea of a double deck, so stop saying that the Airbus A380 is better than Boeing, Airbus took the idea from Boeing. And besides that, Boeing is a much more old company than Airbus, so the errors that were made by Boeing in their first planes, were corrected in Airbus's first planes, and because of that people think that Airbus is better than Boeing.
Fenton Malawo Actually a380 is the answer to 747. A380 from now on is the Queen of the Sky, move away 747. Anyways are you a Boeing fan? If so we're gonna quarrel for a very long period because we won't understand each other so I leave it as it is A380 is the Queen of the sky, Boeing made the 747-8 to compete with it but it has not even sold, it will fade away with its history.
Let us not forget that Juan Trippe (CEO & founder of Pan Am) also helped pioneer the creation of the 747. He was the person who initially provided the necessity for the world's biggest commercial airliner.
What Boeing needs to do to save the 747 program is to make a plane ONLY when someone orders a 747. That will make life a lot easier for Boeing and hopefully the 747 program can go on for another decade.
I love the video but struggle with the fact nobody mentioned joe sutter. He was the driving force behind the 747, and deserves as much recognition as bill allen...
+yergaderga yeah but the floors were only the size of a 707 and they had an idea of putting the floors side by side and made the iconic size of the first 747 floor but the cargo version had to open from it's nose and the cockpit couldn't be placed on the first floor which made the 2nd floor which was smaller but made the modern 747
I grew up flying on 747-400s with NWA and KLM. They were beast in the skies. Sad to see them go and definitely like to fly the Delta 747-400s (former NWA 747-400s) for the last time to say my good bye.
Ah..the 747. Long gone are those spool ups and boxy cabin looks. Flew the 747-100, -200, -300 and the -400 variants. The 777 has gone a bit boring now. Would love a shot at a Dreamliner and an A380. But you can't choose, can you?
I know this is a great video of building the first of a legendary plane, but the truth of what happened to the first 747,a plane collision with another one ☹️🙁
Well Boeing there's no reason to end the 747's majestic reign. If before in 1969 a lot of engineering problems for a complete double decker then today with advanced technology you could mix the engineering of the Boeing 747 and 777X were you could assure the future air travel to the most fuel efficient, most technologically advanced and safest double Decker quadruple engined airliner with the widest bodied and longest range is completely different from putting another 707 on top on another. So there's no reason to built a fully double-decker even others may call you copy cats, because you are the first company to built it even if it's partial only. You could always build better and I hope all the best.
I wish the 747-8 would sell better than it currently is
Yeah
+MsAmdfan unfortunately no

Why not you buy one? It's $300< million.
+MsAmdfan stfu
You don't mention Joe Sutter?! He's the father of 747..if it weren't for him the 747 wouldn't exist..come on guys seriously.
The 747-8 is such a beautiful plane...
9
+Night Hawk sadly, it will be replaced by the 777x :(
yes it is
Boeing 747 is da best jumbo jet and plane ever to exist
I booked a flight home from my overseas deployment, on a specific airline, just to be able to fly on the 747-8i. Even though it was significant more expensive :)

Fifteen Airbus employees disliked this video.

Yep. And look how good that "Sonic Cruiser" turned out to be. Cancelled in late 2002.
If you look at 1:10, you see the Airbus A380, but Boeing didn't like the idea of a double deck, so stop saying that the Airbus A380 is better than Boeing, Airbus took the idea from Boeing.

Exactly, a 747 can still fly with a huge hole in the fuselage
What? No
Remember back when Douglas was a threat?
I've never been on a 747. :(
But it used to be so common, how is that possible?
Well unless you never been on airplanes before
+GameSlimia true
I've been to a A380 just in the normal class/deck :(
+GameSlimia we'll I don't need to go in a 747 to fly to Florida if I'm within the same country.
It would have been nice if Joe Sutter got some recognition for his efforts along with the rest of his team.
I love boeing because they make beautiful planes
the 747 is much better then a380-800
please...you fool. a380 is the best aircraft in the world. 747 is just capable.
+Andrew Anane you are very wrong a380just stole the idea of the 747 747 is better
Fenton Malawo Actually a380 is the answer to 747. A380 from now on is the Queen of the Sky, move away 747.

no
Ian DL Why no? 747 is so small in the eyes of the a380.
Or +lan DL are you replying to +Carolina Guillen?
This video reminds me of fallout.
lol same here
Cheers for that one.
lol
+jerseyjacket100 totally!
Me?
If it ain't Boeing I ain't flying
If it's not Boeing I'm not going.*
+Asheanna Thomason you ruined it
I was proud to have worked on those programs.
... and regularly studying your Boeing provided materials and answering the question, what makes 747 so S.P.E.C.I.A.L
Let us not forget that Juan Trippe (CEO & founder of Pan Am) also helped pioneer the creation of the 747. He was the person who initially provided the necessity for the world's biggest commercial airliner.
Is very good and am happy Boeing remembers the history of the 747 and remembers the people who started it.
Nice indeed, loved the animation and graphics, well done Boeing, love ya.

Where is Joe Sutter??? He was known as the father of the 747
I believe that he's still alive
I love it!!

What about the 800?
+Usman Ali I prefer Airbus.
O'Malley 567 that i sawesome. i have worked in AB4 and A310 those were double isle air crafts and were so good too.
Am I the only one that cried during this
Yes, likely. It's so much like a cartoon, it's very hard to pay close attention to it, let alone get sentimental enough to cry
+DECLANMC 15 lol
+HMSDaring1 to be perfectly honest, that was quite a logical comment :)
+HMSDaring1 and 7u88 []00]0099 ore
You must really love Airplanes
amazingly, i got a notif of this video after i saw a documentary of 747..
The Queen of the skies. :)
Still my favorite airplane.
Amazing video!!
I really love the 747, 777 and 787. I do look forward to the Y3. 😀

I paid a bit more to go on 747 - 400 But it was worth it can't wait!
Love Boeing 747!
Ahh the 60s. People used to get all dressed up just to go flying in something like this. Thing was a beautiful time...
What Boeing needs to do to save the 747 program is to make a plane ONLY when someone orders a 747. That will make life a lot easier for Boeing and hopefully the 747 program can go on for another decade.
I love the 747.
the queen of the sky is boeing 747
the king of the sky is airbus a380
am i correct
Bro why is this an ad? I'm interested in this stuff
Im Love A Boeing 747
I love the video but struggle with the fact nobody mentioned joe sutter. He was the driving force behind the 747, and deserves as much recognition as bill allen...
long live the queen!!
600mph? Thats almost as fast as sound
The all new cockpits looks awesome and pilots must very exited to fly
beautiful video
I like both Boeing and Airbus, like the 737 & the a320's
I feel sad that I've never actually flown on a 747. The biggest I have ever been on was a 777, and it's my favourite plane.
Pan Am is the reason the world has the 747. Wow it wasn't mentioned in this video clip.
i love 747 me and sonic love it
Fact: Air force One can reach speeds near Mach 1 (speed of sound).
Eu amo o 747...
That's why it's called the queen of the skies
and now we are an era of re-engining every 25 years....some progress!
I just got back from Japan and I rode on a 747
I never new you guys planned of this to look like the a380
Or vice versa.
+yergaderga Boeing had the idea way before Airbus I believe
+yergaderga yeah but the floors were only the size of a 707 and they had an idea of putting the floors side by side and made the iconic size of the first 747 floor but the cargo version had to open from it's nose and the cockpit couldn't be placed on the first floor which made the 2nd floor which was smaller but made the modern 747
ive been on the first ever 747, its at the Boeing museum in Washington.
Best plane in the world
not even mention Pan Am. 747 without Pan Am won't exist.
It's such a buetiful plane!
That power!!
Guys, think of it. What if there were no Boeing 747s in the first place? What will happen to our aviation status?
We'd probaly never Have A380
Hey look! A flying metal tube with engines and wings!
would be cool if America has a Bomber version of the 747
the 747 is my fav
01:07 look like a MD-12
It's a 707 perhaps.
747 is my favourite plane! But salary the airline I always ride on... They are cancelling 747s
Happy 100 Boeing
There are 369 Airbus lovers here
gracias
I'm going to miss the 747...
@1:09 the Airbus a380 design was originally created
i wish aeromexico would buy the new 747
my favorite plane us 777x
I grew up flying on 747-400s with NWA and KLM. They were beast in the skies. Sad to see them go and definitely like to fly the Delta 747-400s (former NWA 747-400s) for the last time to say my good bye.
Lol the first Boeing 747 took off in '69
Recently found out that the 747 didn't have a full two decks due to the 90 sec time evacuation the FAA requires.
If thats the case, why does the airbus a380 have full 2 decks?
w3eww
Then how does the A380 have 2 full decks then?
RIP Mr Sutter
And Joe Sutter's team. They helped too.
nice!
Boeing, I have a small question. How did you do in the "Great Depression"?
I don't think the company was made in the Great Depression
Kaden Frasert I'm going off of google here.
Boeing/Date founded
July 15, 1916
Oh
*What a shame that 747 sales are drying up.*
Ah..the 747. Long gone are those spool ups and boxy cabin looks. Flew the 747-100, -200, -300 and the -400 variants. The 777 has gone a bit boring now. Would love a shot at a Dreamliner and an A380. But you can't choose, can you?
Nice
when you change the appearance of this plane??? sorry but I think that isn't nice
My grandfather made the breaks for the 747
Boeing are the best
+Broth Games LOL BEST JOKE
I know this is a great video of building the first of a legendary plane, but the truth of what happened to the first 747,a plane collision with another one ☹️🙁
and then Disney sued for copyright infringement
Screw that. They're just too overrated.
Jet fuel can't melt steel beams.
jet beams can't melt steel fuel
nice orbituary Boeing! XD
Why didn't they mention anything bout' Joe Sutter?
They should an airplane that goes to space
They have one. Called a space shuttle
and now you are just producing 1/3 of them :(
Well Boeing there's no reason to end the 747's majestic reign. Safer than the air force one. I want that.
The power of CRASH XD
Is Boeing planning to axe 747-8?
cool
A video!
Does anyone know why people say "7407" when it doesn't have a zero in the name? 747
Because the number 747 is pronounced "Seven Hundred and FORTY Seven". Plus it sounds cool.
Neat
Boeing and Airbus should team up on making a plane together
how to go Boeing
I saw 747
