- I went to 3 thrift Stores In one Day and I found the best thrift store treasure I have scored all year! I found an art treasure that I want to share with you and the story behind it.

PS: I made a few major editing mistakes with this video...I think this might be a first for me. I was working with my new Canon camera this week and faced a time crunch but all in all, it's an honest portrait of the week I lived. Feels just a tad bit good to feel ok with not being perfect...you have allowed me to breathe and I thank you so much. That is true love.

Susan, I have watched your videos for awhile, but never commented. I am alone now after 55 years because my hubby passed away in March. Within a few weeks I had sold my house and moved to another state with our daughter. The last few months have seen major changes, especially leaving friends and neighbors. However, I am 76 and felt I needed to be closer to family. Even though we had a beautiful home, I shopped at thrift stores for years to help furnish it.
I hope to get my own place soon. Sadly, where my daughter lives, there are really no good thrift stores to turn to. That is why I love going thrifting with you. You are a lovely lady and that is reflected in your home. I have a little plaque that I had hanging on my wall (it is packed away right now) which will be in my new home that says “ The Secret To Having It All, Is Believing You Do.” Take care.

The glasses with the leaves were from the 1960’s. I was married in 1966 and those glasses were on my wedding register. I had the set with silver leaves.
Hi Kathy, my parents had a set of the “leaf print” glasses in gold. They entertained a lot and had a complete set of the glasses, all different sizes, even shot glasses. I’m very happy I inherited them. Makes me think of mom & dad every time I see (and use) them. I wasn’t sure which decade they were from, so thanks for the info. Thanks to Little Poet … you bring us all together. 🥰

Susan you and Desi are at top of my favorites list. You are so inspirational, kind and thoughtful and I will say sweet too. Don't know how anybody would have a problem with or Desi. Husband and I are early 70s and things are not as easy as they used to be. In 2016 we moved to a very small town to have less congestion, less stress....we dont know when we might need something with less footage, less yards to maintain but as we take 1 day at a time....I am grateful for the quiet peaceful days we have more since husband retired in 2016 before we moved. I have many faults, but my rescue doggie loves me anyway. Lol. My rescue is named Moose.

I'm 66 and have been "thrifting" since my 20's. It's in my blood (thank you, Mom!) Just yesterday my habit of buying something I don't need at the moment, but might someday, paid off (again). A few months ago at a local thrift store, I found a new still in the package $29.95 long curtain panel from Bed, Bath, And Beyond for $1.50 and added it to my "maybe someday" box. Yesterday I got a hankering for new bedroom curtains in my camper , thought of my thrift store find, and today with some snipping and sewing the one long panel will become 2 smaller panels, and I'll be a happy camper :)

Remember Susan if Desi is barking at someone he knows something that you do not know. Dog sense , They know if someone is good or bad. So just watch out when you’re around this person. Desi probably it’s just trying to protect you from someone that is bad or possibly evil.
Chrissy YES and NO. I remember visitingfriend of the family in Spain and it was a huge family and I didn't really know them but my father had been in the military and their father was in the military and they got to know each other that way. Their little dog barked so much that I felt completely unwelcome and I guarantee you I am NOT evil and I was NOT up to NO good. I was a simple 20 year old taking a vacation between my third and fourth year of college and I thought I would look up this family.
IT did NOT go well due to the dog's possessiveness of the family and you have to keep that in mind-- just like Susan said when she brings home a gent --her dog Desi gives them the side eye and it's not necessarily because the Gent is bad but dogs are very possessive, especially when they're loved as much as Desi is loved💚
Please consider using a harness for Desi, instead of a collar. It's safer and much healthier for any dog. Love your channel.
I love going to thrift stores with you. i love to see what different people like. I think it is time to liberate Shoeless Joe and free him from his injustice. I have lost some very special loved ones recently so I want to live like I am living their lives for them and enjoying things they would enjoy. I think that positivity makes life so much better. What inspires me is knowing whatever is waiting for me ahead I can handle when I was young I was so insecure and negative thinking I couldn't do anything on my own I had no education I was dyslexic a single mother but slowly I started tackling one problem after another the more things I tackled the more of it inspired me just keep on going before I dreaded getting up in the morning now I know even if something bad happens or unexpected I will be able to handle it

You found some great items. In the past I think I shared with you that I can't go in thrift stores. It makes me sad to see beautifully photos of someones loved ones, quilts, and other "family" items being sold. I live in Iowa and this story was in the news all week. Kevin Costner was in Dyersville all week. He was awestruck seeing the Field of Dreams baseball field again after so many years. People came from all over the US to see the New York Yankees play against the Chicago White Sox. And Kevin Costner played his part again with walking into the corn field during the game. It was truly a memorable game for all the fans.
Yes the game was great and yea that day I emailed Susan to let her know. Wish many of us gals could have been together there having fun and eating hotdogs, peanuts and of course good ole crackerjack. ❤️

My family inspire me. I have 3 ground children and 8 grandchildren and one great grand son. We all live in the same city and get together often. I love cooking, sewing, painting ,crochet, decorating, and doing home made living.
It may be a little known fact but the "Field of Dreams" story was written by the Canadian author K.P. Kinsell and the original book is called Shoeless Joe. I love the concept of this story and the movie is beyond magical. I love the irony that a Canadian author captures the essence of baseball and the American Dream. You have really good thrift stores there. What great treasures you found. I'm jealous! I can't wait to hear about your date. And what inspires me to keep going is the memory of my sweet mama my best friend (now in Heaven). She raised three generations of children, cooked and cleaned and worked outside the home. Never took a sick day (I don't ever remember her being sick) and back then she would ask what we wanted for dinner and if we said biscuits and gravy she didn't have Pillsbury pop n fresh in a can, she made from scratch and whipped up a batch in what seemed like no time. Homemade dinners and desserts, the house was always clean, the laundry done and never asked for help. She was a skinned knee doctor, a spider squisher and tear dryer. She was amazing and keeps inspiring me every day. I could never live up to how amazing she was and I miss her every day. 👼
A spider swisher … how funny- that brought back a memory of my late mother … always had a tissue ready when one of us kids yelled Mom spider!

Susan I guess I’d have to say what keeps me going is my fur baby boy, Kody. My son and daughter and special siblings. Family. My dear husband of fifty four years passed in 2019, and I haven’t quite found my way since. I don’t know what I am meant to do now.

I recently early retired, January 2021, and I'm turning 63 on Tuesday and I'm trying to rebuild my life. Your tastes are my tastes but I'm married,42 tears Wednesday, and my people pleasing way of life have hindered my dreams including my own feathering my nest. Because of your posts and beautiful persona, you've tweaked my pre-marriage and all those who came in it, remembered dreams.

I was never really an Elvis fan, but a couple of years ago I visited his birthplace in Tupelo. I had forgotten that Elvis passed when he was only 42. We saw many exhibits and I remembered how generous Elvis was and what humble beginnings he had. Years ago we also saw the field in Iowa where some of Field of Dreams was filmed. The farmer decided to keep the baseball field for tourists. I wonder if he has planted it back to corn by now. 🌽🌽🌽. Thanks for stirring up some memories. ☺️
No they have not. Just the other night was the field of dreams ballgame between Yankees and white Sox. It was great and Kevin Costner was there too with his son and was in booth to talk some. Loved how they put some movie clips in also and many balls were hit into the corn fields. I heard that they plan to play there each year. What a thrill for locals and travelers and us watching on tv.
Also I love Elvis and was so happy to see him perform in 1976. While I was in high school. Always watched his movies and have most albums. Enjoy.

I remember thinking how old he was. (I was maybe 19?)
As a cancer survivor twice, I am inspired to make the most of every moment... let go of the past mistakes and do not live in fear. I want my grandchildren to KNOW me. I prioritize my days with devotions, writing in my grateful journal, exercise, then time with family and friends. Piano lessons are challenging my brain.

I've never seen the movie Field of Dreams. I just retired in July. What inspires me is to step out of my comfort zone, to try new things and to be bold. ( I'm very shy) although it's a little scary to begin a new chapter in my life, I'm excited. Watching your videos has inspired me the most. Thank you for sharing your life with us.
Shyness is essentially saying "no" to life because you are afraid. Try saying "yes" once in awhile. That thought has really helped me and brought new people and experiences into my life as I've started to age.

I am concerned about this man disliking Desi so much. He sounds unpredictable in his anger toward Susan and Desi. I know from experience this type of individual can be a serious problem.
Susan needs to be careful with letting Desi run ahead of her in the apartment hallways. I eventually had to hire an attorney. Very expensive, but the attorney was worth every penny.

You did this video of going out to the thrift store with us just at the right time for me. Where I live we have been in lockdown again for many weeks. So most of our shops & stores are actually closed now & we can’t travel more than 5km anyway. So been nowhere & done very little for weeks. So going to the stores with you was great for me. Thank you Susan. Enjoyed the outing.
Desi!! You are the sweetest. I just love him. And look at your neighbor with different eyes and mind. He doesn't "hate" you. He may be lonely or had some trauma. There is always a reason behind bad behavior. Choose to be nice to him...you may be the only person who is. However I will stand up for Desi all day long!
