I have actually never seen or heard of a risk of a condenser being too large, only too small. Over all the condenser should be suitable for the cabin size. Depending on the size of your classic. Say a large A body. going with a 19"x30" would be the smallest recommended.
@@dr.frahnkensteeen4485 think of it as a large van or small motorhome That's what I'm going to be cooling down. Has the original dealer installed AC system in the dashboard but the rest of the system is missing. Hoping to convert something like this and be able to run it with the engine off. Possibly strictly off solar or being plugged in at a campsite.
So that's why the factory condenser on my MR2 is so big. I think I'll just reuse it rather than get what you had. Thanks for saving me the headache! 👍 edit: is that a different coolant tank? If so, that's a pretty neat upgrade you did. I'm currently trying to make a VW spherical coolant tank (with the steam pipe setup) work with my Toyota. I can't remember if the 944/24 had the steam pipe setup or not, they might have had a simple overflow tank system instead edit 2: I also bought that same crimp kit!
Sorry got the delayed response, work has been insane lately! Very glad the information helped you for sure. I am using a coolant tank from a VW/Audi B5 series. The 944 coolant tanks have become stupid expensive and I have always wanted to move the reservoir up higher then the engine and away from the front. Both the 944 and 924 have expansion type tanks, no steam pipes/vents. Hold constant pressure under engine operations. The crimp kit works nicely. I may be testing a different type of line and fitting style next on my car, will see how it goes.
Tryed making it work on a ls swaped s10 and it did not work wit 4 difrent size orfices compressor was to small for the system problaby only works with like a under dash ac unit small evaporator or maybe using expansion valve insted of orphis tube
Hello friend, greetings from Venezuela, excellent work, I cannot understand very well what you are saying, I am using Google translator to write to you, thanks to your video I was able to clear my doubt, you can buy just the compressor and use it with the car's original system Based on your experience, can you give me some recommendations? I want to do it in my Chinese minitruck which has a very small engine, I have the evaporator, condenser, refrigerant lines, etc., but I am thinking of installing an electric compressor, will they be durable?
Hello to you, My apologize for the delay. I have been working a lot. Happy that you can least see what is accomplished. You can purchase the compressor, but It will have to be adapted to the factory Refrigerant lines. The biggest obstruction in using a Electric Compressor is to be sure the Alternator is producing enough Amperage to power it. If your alternator in the Mini Truck is anything under 125 Amps the compressor will function poorly. As for durable.. I can not confirm anything, mainly have let it sit and run for a good 30 to 45 minutes at a time with no faults. But extended use beyond that I am no sure.
Keep up the good work!
Thank you.
Thanks for the complete rundown. I think I might give this a try on my 88 rx7
You are welcome ^_^
Nice! Thanks for updating us!
Thank you are you are welcome.
I wonder if there's a risk of going too big for the AC condenser If not I think I'm going to go with the biggest one that I can possibly fit.

Sorry you had issues. My evap system uses an expansion valve.
any details on what you tried?

Did you finish the 924?
Not yet, still at my Dads house in the back of the garage. Have other cars that went in front of her for now.
What compressor is best
Not sure. Only have used this one.
