Lyrics
Come with me and bless the night
Let the darkness be your salvation
Curse the day - escape the light
Break the chain of imagination
Come with me and seize the night
Now's the time for some inspiration
Leave the day and loose the light
No taboos only new sensations...
In the shadows of the city
A hero's waiting for the call
And all the angels are waking up
And all the devils start to fall
In the shadows of the city
They're dying for a thrill
They're going out over the edge
They're moving in for the kill
You gotta curse the day: it's nothing but a merciless light
So open up your arms and then you get down on your knees
You suck in all the darkness and you're ready now to seize
Seize the night
Seize the night
(Dies irae, Kyrie! Libera me, Domine!)
(Dies irae, Kyrie! Requiem da, Domine!)
(Dies irae, Kyrie! Libera me, Domine!)
(Dies irae, Kyrie! Requiem da, Domine!)
(Dies irae, Kyrie! Sanctus, Sanctus exultate!)
Bless the night, before it has the chance to pass
Seize the night, you do what it takes to make it last
Bless the night, before it has the chance to pass
Seize the night, you do what it takes to make it last
Bless the night, before it has the chance to pass
Seize the night, you do what it takes to make it last...
Let your dreams out of their cages
Every passion and desire
Let your visions be outrageous
Set your fantasies on fire
Everything will be permitted
There'll be nothing left to fear
I got the magic in your body
Your inhibitions disappear
You gotta curse the day: it's nothing but a merciless light
So open up your arms and then you get down on your knees
You suck in all the darkness and you're ready now to seize
Seize the night
Seize the night
(Dies irae, Kyrie! Libera me, Domine!)
(Dies irae, Kyrie! Requiem da, Domine!)
(Dies irae, Kyrie! Libera me, Domine!)
(Dies irae, Kyrie! Requiem da, Domine!)
Bless the night, before it has the chance to pass
Seize the night, you do what it takes to make it last
Bless the night, memories collide to change the past
Seize the night, you do what it takes to make it last
(Carpe Noctem...)
(Carpe Noctem...)
Bless the night, before it has the chance to pass
Seize the night, you do what it takes to make it last...
(Dies irae, Kyrie! Requiem da, Domine!)

Hey, so this is a new comment on this video, one of the best covers of any of ML/Steinman songs ever!
Lauren this is as good as it gets. All of Jim’s songs are the best songs written but this really is pulse raising and your rendition brings the night and the song’s emotions to light. Thanks for your great work.
Wow! Thank YOU for this comment!! I can’t begin to tell you what comments like yours mean to me, bc Jim, Meat, and the music they made is very important to me! So, reading something like this truly brings me tremendous joy! Thank you!!

😂😂 Yeah! Bryan has a way of doing that doesn’t he? Thanks so very much, Nick!!!
Such a title was audacious but what a result, simply brilliant and powerful, with keys always well placed. Another beautiful tribute to our talented Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman, Thank you Lauren, Thank you....can't wait to listen to the next title!
Thank you so much, Jerome! ‘Seize The Night’ is truly a brilliant song! I’m so very glad you enjoyed this!!! Thanks so much for taking the time out to comment, too!
I’ve never heard the original version of this song, but Lauren looks and sounds good singing it. I’m really impressed when she held the notes a few times. How many years of formal voice training has Lauren taken to get to this level? I want to invite her to my coworker’s karaoke parties and watch everyone’s jaws drop when she starts singing, lol!
Hey Douglas!! Well - You had me at karaoke! 🤣🤣 I love karaoke (lol). Training - Anything I did formally was a long time ago - First two years of high school I had voice lessons, and I was in chorus all my life growing up. I did some musical theatre productions the first two years of college (back in the early 2000s). FFW to Lockdown during 2020, in the fall, I found this karaoke app and sang as much steinman into this app as I possibly could and I just haven’t stopped (bc I can’t)! 🤣✌️🌙
@@LaurenBradleyGivingOffSparks I think I speak for all of your subscribers when I say I hope you never stop singing. ✌️
@@dougk.9826 Ahhh! Thank you!!! That’s so kind!! 🤗✌️
Another great video, Lauren. Some truly wonderful lyrics in this one!
Ahh! Thank you so much, Matt!!! And I agree with you 1000% - it’s one of my (many) favorites!
BTW - meant to ask - lyric wise - any particular in this song you enjoy the most?
@@LaurenBradleyGivingOffSparks It's got to be 'You gotta curse the day: it's nothing but a merciless light'. That should have been Jim Steinman's motto.
“Seize The Night” is an extravagant jewel, chiseled by the sharpened quill of the late great Jim Steinman! The song is a genuine marvel, an urgent entreat to embrace the wonders and the power and the magic of the darkness. Here, the night isn’t a scary place, inhabited by demons and ghouls and things that go “bump” in your head. It’s a fueling station for your imagination where an orphan spark can ignite your craziest dreams! It’s a lush and opulent, all-inclusive resort for those who have been banished by the day, but who delight in their exile - remorseless renegades luxuriating in the twitching chill of the effervescing moonlight! And Lauren Bradley is their - is our - radiant host! Her magnificent performance is an impassioned clarion call to “seize the night that Steinman built!” But she doesn’t simply echo Jim’s lyrics, she amplifies them, making our visions that much more outrageous, our fantasies that much more on fire! And our depths even that much more … deep. Her exquisite voice is a vocal spotlight - a self-reflecting, self-baptizing beam of luminous insight, carving through the dark to expose the secret hiding place of “salvation!” Here’s to you for continuing to change the game! “Carpe Noctem” doesn’t quite cover it when it comes to you - “Carpe Omnia,” Lauren!
Bryan, thanks for always taking the time out to write such tremendous commentary! “It’s a fueling station for your imagination…” I love that! And, I agree of course! I’m so glad you enjoyed this!! And “self baptized” - THAT - what a phrase! I love it! Thank you so much for consistently sending so much awesome support through your comments! I can’t begin to tell you how much it is appreciated!! 😎🌙
Bryan, your comments are legendary. I only wish I could write half as poetically as you.
@@MattWhitingsEurope I second that! 🙋♀️
@@MattWhitingsEurope Thanks much, Matt. How cool of you to say that! And I know how you feel - I only wish I could write half as wondrously as Lauren sings!
@@LaurenBradleyGivingOffSparks Wow, that's awesome, Lauren! Totally thrilled over here! :)
Cool!
Thank you!
Fantastic song, fantastic interpretation!!! 👏👏👏🎶🎶
Thank you so very much, Giorgio!!!! 🖤🌙🦇
Hi Lauren. Great to see a new post from you. That performance was absolutely awesome. Beautifully and powerfully delivered!
Ahhh! @KL - and great to hear from you!! Thank you so very much! I absolutely love this song - I’m so glad you enjoyed it!! ☺️✌️
Amazing version!!!! Back in the 90's I ordered this song off a Steinman fan page, sung as a demo from just some aspiring Broadway singer, he had a kind of annoying voice but the song- music and lyrics were phenomenal- Liked Meatloaf's version was good, but something was lacking in passion...in my opinion (just my opinion, don't get crazy, everybody!). Your version is finally the definitive version of the song!!!
Hey, Cliff! Thank you so very much!!! Oh yes, I do believe I know the version you’re talking about (I think it’s on YT now). Thanks soooo much for taking the time out to comment and for your kind words, too! This is an INCREDIBLE song and I’m thrilled you enjoyed my interpretation! 🖤🦇
The one you got was most likely from the English Broadway (horrible) version of Tanz Der Vampire
Love itx
Thank you so much, Wayne!
you have some impressive lungs on you
Ha - thank you! I love to bellow (especially to Steinman songs)!
This one is good, but I would have preferred if you had covered the dance of the vampire's version rather than meatloaf's version. Jim's production on the music was better and the senseless chains of lyrics and meatloaf's version make no sense
Hi James!! Thanks and I have to say I agree with you here! May have to do this one over (kinda wanted to anyhow)! LOL :) Thanks for listening!
Not for me, too much sing flourishes the music already has. The ice-cold and thoughtful lyrics don't need them neither.
