- I feel like I say this EVERY time - but you guys - THIS SONG!
In case any of you haven't heard this song before:
'I'll Kill You If You Don't Come Back' - Meat Loaf - 'Dead Ringer’ - 1981.
Funny side note regarding 1981-
If someone asks me what year I was born…
My answer (more often than not) is, "I was born the year of 'Bad For Good' and 'Dead Ringer.'"
It amuses me, and it's also a great way to find out if a new person you've met is a fellow Jim / Meat fan!
Anyhow, I digress.
I don't think I have to really say too much about this supremely intense song, because it speaks for itself musically and lyrically.
It's a cacophony of emotions throughout - and then we are all blessed with 'Bless all the girls' towards the end.

I agree. There is an intensity to her version of this song that is almost....scary. Fantastic interpretation to one of the best songs Steinman ever wrote. "Looking for magic in gymnasium lights" is simply an incredible line.

Lauren, Wow! Such a showman Meat Loaf was...and hopefully still is. If he is still performing, the sounds can only be heavenly. I have to say, till I was introduced to your singing, I didn't realized the extent of Jim Steinman's musical genius. The transition that he makes at about 3:30 minutes: is genius. It bring tears to my eyes to hear that arrangement. It's like with the transitions in: For Crying Outloud...it's genius.
And is it ok to say: your singing at the end of the song, your passionate fury surpasses Meat Loaf's...and it bring many smiles to me. It's like you are feeling the words, more deeply then Meat Loaf does. And the phrase, the irony of, I'll kill you if you don't come back: just makes me smile! And that's the ultimate gift of music: to cause our hearts to smile, right? *smiles*

The Bless All The Girls” section is a phenomenal departure from the earlier painful section. And perhaps, that's what makes the: Bless all the girls section: so beautiful! And I would say: what is also stunning, apart from the blessing the girls section, all the while the guy is really hurting something fierce, while also loving someone equally fierce, It sounds like. And yet, he is able to introduced such magical beauty in 'his' life! (I can take lyrics very seriously...and deeply. *smiles)
I have always been a big fan of Harry Chapin. And I like Cat Stevens with Foreigner Suite...I suppose that there are many others that don't come to mind: who can write songs that introduces such broad ranges of passions and thoughts: that also mirrors Jim's absolute beauties! *smiles* Bri

This song is yet another of Jim Steinman’s lesser-known, but nevertheless astonishing musical odysseys! All at once, it’s a desperately infatuated, staggeringly lost, self-loathing firefly, grinding its wings like mad to escape from the very thing - the one thing - that it just can’t live without! Its feverish gnashing at the walls of a prison of confounding confusion ends up “giving off sparks” - glowing bits of shrapnel that illuminate the lustrous imprint of Jim’s smiling grimace, the smirking hyphen of ambivalence that somehow keeps love and hate from totally devouring each other! Lauren, your performance here - especially through the centerpiece “bless all the girls” series, and especially, especially at the murderously monumental finish - is a spectacular wonder to behold!
