Anyone else notice how this guy loses EVERY race no matter what car he is in? LoL He has the reaction times of a sloth on Xanax.
No really, the reaction time matters on the get go but once both cars get grip it’s the transmission, horsepower and weight from there. The Mazda is really powerful but is FWD and only got 6 speeds, it’s just physics my guy
He’s not starting later than the other guy. If anything he’s beating the TLX for the first split second.

Camry v6 is a slouch i just dont understand the power figures for it on paper it should be very well but on pavement it tells a different story

@@chevyss934 Camry is let down by gearing. The 1 - 2 shift drops the engine to about 3,500 rpms. A race between the Camry and Accord and Mazda6 on Throttle House UA-cam channel showed the Camry consistently placing a strong second. Off the line it was quicker than the Accord, but the 1 - 2 shift kills all the momentum. But it still finished fairly close behind the Accord. I think a Camry vs TLX will be closer than you think. For all it’s sensible attributes, the humble Camry is no slouch. It may catch that TLX off guard 😏

@@desioasis2378 the 2.0T may have a torque advantage at lower RPMs but the 3.5 spins up to the meat of its power band fairly quickly…..then the V6 will pull away identically to the Accord 2.0T in Sam’s other video.
the v6 is faster.My 2012 fwd v6 is faster than a 2021 tlx from a roll start.

I think what holds the Mazda back is that 6 speed. While it's a good trans it just doesn't haven't enough gears to take advantage of the torque in the 2.5LT
Agreed. I have the 21 Carbon edition but if it had AWD and even 30 more horsepower it would keep up or win. Both cars are sweet.
@@J-W.- May be, but I think it is actually the weight and wheel choice. The Mazda would be definitely faster with 17-18inch Wheels. The stock 19inch Mazda wheels are actually really heavy

The TLX may not be all that fast but it sure is a looker! I love the styling of that car!
Acura/Honda are also bringing ergonomics into their car interiors. Hop in the new Mercedes C class, and you have to use a touchscreen for things that are just better off as hard buttons (namely climate controls)

No... It's the AWD. Mazda 3 turbo AWD has the same 6 speed but is much faster than TLX. Adjusted for the weight difference, I'd say a Mazda 6 turbo if equipped with AWD is going to be comparable to TLX.

@@naegleriafowleri2230 Maybe. But to be honest such comparisons are next to meaningless. Accord or Mazda 6 only has a chance in a strait line. If a car can only go straight, does the 0-60 matter? Many EVs can go from 0-60 under 4 sec but they are horrible to handle.

These videos are interesting, but speed had no bearing on my purchase of the TLX A Spec. I wanted it for styling, comfort, and AWD.
Mazda japan sets throttle configuration on the more fuel saving side, especially in the non turbo models. Reconfigure throttle setting and youll see significant difference. However for this 6 if not awd then it will probably spin/drift alot more.
How can you reconfigure them? With a tune?
I learned on my 6 2.5 turbo that you can’t go full throttle off the line because it just spins the tires. Also I learned that paddle shifting a little before 5 and a quarter the car catches speed faster
I don't even have turbo and can tell a huge difference between punching the gas & accelerating more slowly. It has a delay if you try to go from 0 to full throttle. I'd be curious to know why.
I'm not convinced this one is turbo I've never seen a turbo 6 without a spoiler. Every turbo model has a spoiler.

@christianawilliams2197it's to compensate for the extra torque from the engine. It tries to retard the power a bit so there's less wheel hop. Even in the N/A because they're still pretty torquey . But great for passing on the highway!

As an Acura TL and Acura MDX owner, I'm petty disappointed with Acura.
Their new 4-cylinder turbo TLX is slower than the turbo Accord. SMH.
And their new TLX 6 cylinder turbo is now about as fast as a run of the mill BMW or Mercedes. Nothing really spectacular. SMH.
Acura has basically caught up to the competition with their turbo 6. But you would think with all that NSX technology trickling down, that Acura could have blown away the competition.
Hopefully the next step is to add some electric motors just like the NSX.
Then...we...will...have a fast car worth bragging about.

Unfortunately, people like StreetSpeed717 have lambasted Acura for making "glorified priuses" even though he never drove one himself to see if NSX is really a "glorified prius". Sadly, though I'm sure Acura hybrids do not drive like "glorified priuses", Acura hybrids just have the reputation of such, therefore Acura decided to stop making hybrids. Acura no longer making hybrids is yet another sad example of how reputation affects everything.

Same Mazda6 with on 245width tires would start way better than stock narrow 225 touring tires obviously strugling with 320lbs of torque...
Also Shell 93 get extra 23hp out of it , not sure what fuel was used here?

i think that the problem of mazda are the tires, maybe with a another brand with more grip can be better.

The Accord will beat them all hands down, they did a test between the tLX and the accord already and the Accord won all day long.
TLX will always lose against the Accord bc of the added weight of being a more luxurious car

I think they should probably take notes from the 2010 and 2012 Acura TL SH-AWD those particular years do 0-60 in 5.2-5.5 sec I believe the 2021 Acura TLX A spec does it in 6.4 sec pathetic we're going back to 2002-2003 Acura TL type S numbers.
To be fair the type s is coming which is the performance one which will do 0-60 in under 5 seconds. These 4 cylinders are more for fuel economy for the average consumer
exactly, acura should’ve kept using the 3.7 v6 and use that as the base engine instead of this 2.0t

I’m not sure why a lot of folks are complaining about the tlx I mean the a-spec version only includes cosmetic changes just like Lexus with its f-sport versions. I’m not sure how many peeps will be drag racing their 50k family sedans at every red light just to say my nuts is bigger than yours lol. If that was the case a lot of Lexus ES f-sport owners would be sad.

Mazda nerfed the launch of the turbo Mazda 6 to eliminate wheel spin. The AWD I4 turbo such as in the CX5 and Mazda3 is as fast or faster than a Accord 2.0t
Can't say I'm really surprised: the Acura goes for 6-7k more... and has AWD... 320 ft-lbs on the front wheels for the Mazda is not a good recipe for drag racing.

Can you do a comparison with the Nissan Altima 2.0 L VC turbo against this TLX or The Honda Accord 2.0 L Turbo?
Yeah, I test drove the 6 turbo when it came out 3 years ago, and I was very underwhelmed by its performance. After the test drive, there was burning smell coming from the engine compartment.
That’s normal. Every new vehicle has that smell. It’s burning off all the stickers and stuff in the catalytic converter. I agree the powertrain isn’t impressive by a performance standpoint but for 95% of people in every day driving the consistent power band and immediate torque are very nice.
The Mazda6 2.5T is quite good at its price point. It's a compliment to it racing a TLX costing at least $8K more.
I'd like to see how the accord does against the new Kia K5 gt.
The TLX would fly if it weighed less… it’s quick but too heavy.

Surprised Mazda is still around...They are still trying to make a come back since the 626 and 929 days from the past when they did great in the car market..cool race comparison. Glad to see the TLX came out on top. Transmission plays a major role with acceleration and top end speed for sure.

I am a fan of the Mazda 6, but in the area where I live you don’t see many at all. You still see plenty of Camry, Accord, K5 & Sonata, Mazda 6 not so much.
That makes the Mazda6 even more desirable. Why have something you see every minute on the road.

TLX is supposed to be about 14.5sec in the quarter. The gaps in sport mode with those shit ass tires he has on appears about right.

Yup, Transmission is the problem there despite being more HP and more Torque on that car and lighter. However SH-AWD and 10 speed is so good, especially in Type S
I don’t want to be a mean person or anything but every time you are behind a Korean car it seems to be extremely slow like slower than it should be. 😂 I think you need to work on your launching or anticipation because there’s no way a K5 or N line are as slow as your videos perpetuate them to be

Not sure if it works for turbo version, but for naturally aspirated 2.5 mazda6 the following works best for drag: traction on, sport mode and manual transmission mode (you actially don't need to shift at least for eu version, cause it shifts up automatically when you reach the limiter)

Hello everyone! So i have some bad news for everyone that has a TLX, ILX and RDX. Not sure about the MDX but i am 100 percent sure almost all if not all of these models Re leaking from rear main seal! My new 19 ILX did and now my new 21 TLX does. Also had an RDX for a month it suffered from same problem this is not a coincidence. But... guess what heres the sad and toxic part. All of these cars had a slight smell coming through vents. Mostly when fan is on without AC. When motor is started and idling,etc.... get check asap. Look for small amounts of oil near fly wheel cover. And if youve been smelling oil fumes your not going crazy. The first vehicle this happened on was my new 19 ILX from the start,new. I had it upto 16,000km. Brought in for warranty rear main seal. They have to take tranny out to do. And change motor oil. Well... i got home the head mechanic didnt tighten motor oil drain plug! Oil all over lol. I do all of my own maintenence so this broke my heart,and if this wasnt bad enough. Then wife driving it home from work. Massive transmission failure she lost power when driving home from work. They put transmission in wrong. Traded it in for new 21 TLX. Exact same problem. :( pretty sad. What happens next we will see. This is real. Check it out everyone now.
Mazda 3 turbo would be a greater challenge.
Is it the transmission? Or it that Mazda which is front wheel drive can't put the power down? Even though that TLX is a porker, the SH-AWD is the real deal (begging Audi's Quattro pardon).
The transmission is definitely the weak link here. It bogs down on 3rd gear and that's when it gets walked by the tlx and it's 10 speed.
Curious to see how the Accord 2.0T would do against the Acura, with the weight difference and drivetrain.

The tlx is a better car,Better engine(k20),better drivetrain,better interior,better overall quality and it goes on.The mazda 6 is not a bad car but theres level to this.
Mazda does need to be tweaked a bit shes good but yeah feel like u could get better response im planning to mod it later on 2020 btw ill figure it out lol

To be fair, this is not a good comparison. The Acura is designed to be a sports car.
TLX Type S vs Q50/Q60
Specifically, the silver sport Q50. The RS will probably tear the TLX-S to shreds.
I have both cars, sort of. A 2018 Accord 2.0 turbo top spec that has the same engine and transmission as this acura. And I have a 2021 Mazda 6 turbo in top spec as well. The Accord is faster for sure from a standstill, but when you punch it at speeds both cars feel very similar. The Mazda 6 is way more rewarding to drive, the suspension manages to be both more comfortable and sportier than the Accord’s. The Mazda also feels better made and just more premium.
Why is the Chevy Malibu always left out of these races
10 speed transmissions are a cheap way to make up for not having enough power. These transmissions are constantly shifting to make up the difference. I don't need my transmission to change gears just rolling through the parking. Common auto makers, if heft and size increase so too should the HP.

The Mazda six is rumored to come back with a in-line six cylinder engine slated to be rear wheel drive. Going going to murder both Honda and Acura and that’s coming from a 2.0 turbo owner

@@brianaschino4903 the transmission is terrible. It shift hard at low speeds, kinda annoying. It handles like a generic grocery getter. And the front wheel spins a lot of you punch it from a stop. 250hp seems decent until you try to pull out into traffic and only so a burnout. Lol
